I have not been here in years. I brought a pound of the oyster sauce beef jerky. just like old times.

I don’t understand. This was simply the most disgusting beef jerky I’ve ever eaten. The texture was fine but it had a strange stale chemical aftertaste. Almost like burnt cigarettes. I paid around $ 8.00 for a quarter pound and it went straight into the garbage. I have a really high tolerance for strange tastes but this was completely inedible. Maybe they were having an off day? The other reviews are great so I’m not at all sure what I’m missing here.

Maybe it’s because I bought the jerky strips early in the morning but they were kinda tough to eat. Not the soft Asian jerky that I’m used to. The lady who helped me was really nice though. I had wanted to get a quarter of a pound and when it went a little over, I told her I didn’t have enough for it so she put a few pieces back so that I got a quarter of a pound. I bought the oyster flavored beef jerky but maybe I should have went with the original beef jerky. 8 strips for $ 8. Not bad I guess. The next time I’m in Chinatown, I’ll definitely try their original and sees how it fares against Malaysia Beef Jerky’s jerky(they know how to make their jerky that’s for sure). That is THE place you want to bring people who’ve never tried Asian jerky before and who may only know about the jerky they sell in grocery stores.

Much thicker slices than I’m used to. The flavor of the bed jerky was very unique. Almost kinda fruity? They had some fun. Flavors fruity. But I stuck with the regular beef jerky. Great texture very meaty. The man was nice $ 7 for ¼ lb.

Compared to Malaysian beef jerky at 95A Elizabeth Street in Chinatown, the beef jerky here was on the tough side. The woman behind the counter was a tad on the unfriendly side too.

High quality beef jerky. This beef jerky is the best I’ve ever had, but it’s not perfect enough to get the elusive fifth star. I went for the original(oyster) flavor. It’s good, but just a tad more flavor would put it over the top. The jerky is tender, meaty, and flavorful. It’s a snack that you just want to keep eating. The spicy flavor is more flavorful than the original, but not«mouth on fire spicy.» The price doesn’t bother me. Yes, it’s pricey, but making beef jerky is a labor intensive process! The owner, Mr. Yee, is a master of his craft. He’ll answer any questions you have and is very friendly. This jerky is a taste of NY that I will keep going back to!

Very good quality and flavor. You get what you pay for. Male Owner is very friendly. Highly recommend. It will blow your mind and have you questioning what you were eating before that was considered beef jerky. Again Very very good quality.

My family has been going here for generations for our authentic beef jerky fix and for a very good reason! The seasoning hasn’t changed for years and its amazing! Granted its not cheap(about $ 22/lb) but the quality is fantastic! Keep in mind, this is for the jerky eaters who like their jerky more meat-like and less grounded(slip jim-esque). Personally, I like to feel like Im biting into actual meat so this place is definitely it. They have regular(oyster) and spicy options and both are really good. Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed :)

Pretty solid beef jerky. You definitely pay a premium for the quality, but it is definitely worth it.

I’ve been coming here since junior high school. It’s just that good. I loved it especially one day when they accidentally made an ultra spicy batch. I was in heaven! *sigh* unfortunately the«tourist» crowd couldn’t handle it so they kept it mild afterward. I almost cleaned them out once since I had to haul it to Long Island. My sons go ga ga for this stuff too!

This tiny shop sells a variety of jerky in chunk and strip form, mostly wet quality, and I brought a number of pounds of it back with me; the chunks were dryish and lacked distinguishing flavor. The strips fared better, bit hot, flavor was better on them. Get the strips. Service was helpful and friendly.

Does anyone know why all beef jerky shops has the word King in it? I am a huge Chinese beef jerky fan and I was expecting to go nuts in this store until I found out that it was $ 22−24/per pound!!! This place doesn’t mess around since they offer only about 10 types of beef jerky and a small store and the owner is napping in the back until you actually enter. I bought a pound and only tried original oyster flavored jerky was was freakin dericious! It was so tender and perfectly flavored– I can see what al the fuss was about. Sadly, somewhere between our shopping trip in Soho I lost the beef jerky by the time I got back to the hotel. :(I just hope whoever found it, ate it instead of throwing away $ 30 worth of dericious! Also, they are located next door to the famous Chinatown ice cream shop and down the street from the Face Shop which I highly recommend.

I always have to get beef jerky when I am in NY. I can never figure out which ones to go to so I always end up back here at New Beef King. I got ¼ lb of the Spicy Beef, Wet Spicy Pork, and the Spicy Beef Chunks. I like my spice level really high and I would say the spicy here is just mild. The spicy beef chunks were my favorite. The meat is very tender and moist. The sauce on it is very flavorful. Chinese beef jerky is different than any packaged one you will find in a store. It is not that crazy, processed, chewy texture that hurts your jaw. It is soft and flavorful. This is a great snack and I love how they give you instructions on how to long you can store the jerky for.

Growing up, I didn’t like the thought of eating packaged jerky or Slim Jims so I never grew to like them. However, if you love FRESH jerky like I do, this is where to go. It’s become a must-stop for me anytime I’m in Chinatown. They offer both beef and pork –spicy or mild and/or wet or dry. Mmm, I love snacking on these!

Nice variety of beef jerky and very tasty. This is much better than the stuff you’d find in grocery stores. If you like jerky, give them a try. They have a website too, though its not fancy. I’m sure they could ship if you are out of town.

I don’t think I’ve ever been a beef/meat jerky fan. We came here to get some stuff for family back in Boston, and now that I’m back in California, I having Beef jerky withdrawals!!! HELP My friend was buying beef jerky from CVS the other day and I thought, «Oh, yea, let me get some too» Then I realized, it was pure crap. I realize now, how amazing New Beef King really is!!! I miss it! Are there any in SoCal???

The jerky is good, love the owner. But his wife is something else! She is so nasty and rude, and just looks miserable. I asked for $ 20.00 worth of the wet spicy beef and it came out to $ 21.02, no biggie, I handed her $ 21.00(they are cash only) and didn’t have any change on me. We stared at each other for twenty seconds and I said, I guess I’ll go stand in the street and ask someone for change! She didn’t utter a word, and turned her head toward the street window. I literally walked out and has to ask a passerby for change! Someone gave me a dime and I went back inside and handed it to her and she threw it in the register. I went through all that trouble and she didn’t even give me change! I’ll only buy from them if she’s NOT there!

The jerky was okay. I’m not that much of a fan of imported jerky but rather I like it when it’s freshly cooked(Like Ping’s Dried Beef). When Ping’s was closed I came here, being the closest jerky store I knew. The owner was nice and reccomended things that were alike to Ping’s jerky seeing that I have come from Ping’s. The spicy/sticky jerky in the pans are more on the sour side and less on the spicy side. The beef balls(?) are very tough and hard to chew although she reccomended those … The fruit beef jerky was tough as well but managable. When I asked for half a pound she gave me 0.8lb and said that I’ll manage with what I got. I tell her I only want half a pound and she ties the bag and insists that I take the 0.8lb. Maybe I’m just being too Ping’s Dried Beef-biased here but, I don’t like the way she serviced me and I don’t like this dried beef. It’s okay but I don’t think I’ll be coming again.

Guy who was selling was kind. The price is the only reason why I give it 4. So I walked out of a jerky joint. BTW, they have a website(who knew)

(Thoughts going through my head while buying this jerky.) A whole store, just for jerky. I love Chinatown. So many different kinds; which one should I get? Lady is nice, but not helpful. I’ve never had pork jerky. I’m going to send some to Joe. He loves jerky. Boobs. Remember the Jerky Boys? Ha, sizzlechest. Does that even mean anything? UrbanDictionary will know. Wet jerky? Isn’t that kind of… cheating? Wet pork. Looks much better than it sounds. Extra spicy, huh? Do it, lady. (Thoughts going through my head while eating this jerky.) Wet jerky IS cheating. Not really spicy at all. But pork jerky is DAMN good. Mmm… jerky. Joe’s not getting any jerky. My jerky. *** 1. sizzlechest It is used as an insult because it was made common from the Jerky Boys phonecalls and movies, but its(sic) more of a condition. Sizzlechest is light curly chest hair that appears almost like smoke puffs rising off the chest, little spirily colums(sic) of hair. Usually found on assclowns. «Shut yer hole, sizzlechest!»
