Came here 2x & loved the twin lobster special $ 23.99. They also have black fish 2 styles for $ 23.99. Best price in Chinatown.

Doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Worst dining experience ever. The queue to get inside do not reflect the level of this restaurant. First of all, there’s the language barrier. I fully understand that not everyone inside Chinatown is fluent in English, but even with point and tell the waiter missed up our drinking order. When we pointed this out, it took them 10 minutes to go get the right can of soda. We waited 50 minutes on our meal. Not exaggerating, the table right next to us ordered, ate and left before we had any food. When we repeatedly asked where our food was, we were met by «cant’t be bothered» body language saying ‘calm down, it will be ready soon’. Meanwhile, the 10 or so waiters were busy serving plate after plate to some big family-tables, which seemed far more important than serving us. The other guests were primarily Chinese, and I feel like there was no coincident that we, as European tourists, were subordinated. When I threatened to leave, which I regret not doing, the food suddenly arrived at the table, while they offered a free of charge drink(I pointed out that my beer was warm and I had not gotten any food). All in all, the service was some of the worse that I’ve ever witnessed. The food — mediocre. Don’t go here!

Not gonna lie, the 2 star rating made me a little nervous but the food Canton Lounge serves is pretty average! Came here with some good friends who were traveling all the way from California where good Chinese food is the norm. The service was what you would expect in a busy Chinese restaurant, rude waiters that will get the job done. The food was nothing to write home about but wasn’t bad either. Can’t comment on the pricing of the place but based on my experience, this would be just a subpar to average restaurant in the Monterey Park or San Gabriel area in CA. Can definitely find better food in Chinatown!

Food was good. Very typical Cantonese food. We liked it but it was nothing special. When the bill came. I tipped 11% before tax. I didn’t think I should be giving the standard 15% for okay service. Waiter open my check and said you need to give us more tips. I said isn’t it up to me? After all a $ 5 tip for a party isn’t chump change. Then he you should pay 18% for great service. Service was only okay. Rather than arguing I said I’ll give you $ 2 and while a was searching for change he took away the bill and ignored us. if he asked for that much tips for okay service I wouldn’t have spent $ 50 for 2 of us.

We came into this restaurant without reading Unilocal first. The service is waay below average: — The waiters are rude. Even though we pointed to the pictures, they still brought out the incorrect items. I had the feelings they wanted to shove us with higher priced items. — They charged us for tea! This is Chinatown, and most places offer hot tea complimentary with a meal, but they actually charged us for tea. This did not leave us with good feelings at all. Instead, we left feeling robbed by the restaurant. –They brought out the entrees… without rice. Which Chinese restaurant would not serve rice with their food? But then when we asked for rice, they charged us for rice! Those plain steam rice bowls! We left feeling robbed by the restaurant! It was a big mistake that we stopped by this restaurant! Don’t make our mistake! Don’t bother with this one. Skip this and spend your money for pleasant dining experience somewhere else!

I’ve eaten here twice with my family and both dining experiences have been wonderful. The servers were very attentive and friendly and the food was delicious — not overly oily or too salty like many other restaurants in Chinatown. Highlights were the salt and pepper squid, the beef chow fun, yu choy(and any other vegetable dish!), and the chicken and salted fish fried rice. The service was great — the waiters and waitresses are very nice, and the manager on duty came over and chatted with us. My family and I eat in Chinatown very frequently and will definitely be returning to Canton Lounge for our family dinners!

This is a second visit. The first was ok so we came back for a second test. First of all, we were given a lunch menu that was written effective Monday thru Sunday, but the waitress later recanted and said the print is an error, the offer is valid only weekdays and for takeout on a weekend. We looked at the menu, it has dishes that are dinner size orders and then they have noodle soups and dumpling but no rice plates. How ridiculous. Lastly, our beef rice noodle was blend and oily. The soup dumpling was ok. The food is over priced.

Found this place by chance on a visit with family to NYC. We ate family Style: sharing a few different dishes that were served. We had pork steamed dumplings, steamed chicken dumplings, and fried chicken dumplings all to start. They came out very quick. After those were finished our main order came out: two big bowls — beef fried rice and Singapore noodles. Both were excellent. The Singapore noodles had just the right amount of spice with good portions of shrimp in it. Overall it was a good experience. I’m knocking down to 4 stars for two fairly minor bits of feedback: 1. The baby high chair they offered was more of a booster stool. While it worked fine it didn’t have any straps to ensure our little one didn’t slide out. Not a huge deal as we keep an eye on her anyway. But it’s something that you should have now a days. The seat looked like it was from the 70’s or 80’s. 2. The waiter spoke little English. I get thay we are in Chinatown so you have to take that into account. But when one of our party asked for red wine and we got white it’s an issue. We felt bad they had to pour the white out when we asked them to correct the order. Again, one great restaurant that we would definitely eat at again. Good menu options with pictures and text in 4 languages: Mandarin, English and Spanish are what I remember.

This is a new place in Chinatown. I don’t really understand why there are so many bad reviews. The food here is above average around Chinatown area and ambiance is very clean and cozy. Most Chinese restaurants in Chinatown are not very clean but this place is an exception. The price is reasonable as they have good selection of lunch special.

WORST place ever. I forgot my other credit cards in my wallet and only had my Amex so was pretty much forced to eat here since most restaurants in Chinatown don’t accept American Express. Our waitress was rude and asked us what we wanted to order and(didn’t even take our order) disappeared into the deep seas. My boyfriend(who was eating dinner with me) had to ask the guy in the front(who I’m assuming is the manager) to take our order. The food takes forever to come and we both wanted water and the taste of the water was HORRIBLE. I’ve drank tap water plenty of times but this water literally tasted like they have a sewage problem. Food is wayyyy overpriced for the portion and the waitress said we couldn’t get white rice but we had to order a fried rice that was $ 13??? Like what Asian restaurant doesn’t have rice??? The table across from us had white rice??? There was only 2 full tables of 4 people and we had no service whatsoever. My boyfriend and I were furious enough with the shitty service, horrible food prices, cruddy tasting water, food taking 30 minutes to come and then when we finally get everything we ordered(the manager forgot one of our orders so we had to wait another 20 mins for it), everyone was watching us like a hawk to get out already but it was 9pm and the place closes at 11??? Where are you going??? Best part of the experience– we ask for the check and there was a 15% mandatory gratuity and I called the manager over and we had a nice argument over their shitty service and horrible waiting and how the water tasted gross. He starts addressing the water situation but that’s the least of our problems right now. Honestly, I get paid quite a lot to do reviews and I’ve eaten at a lot of restaurants across the U.S. but this place deff takes the cake when it comes to shit service and horrible waiting time when the place was literally empty.

Went to eat a last minute dinner with my family here, knowing the rating was low but decided to give them a chance anyways. The waitress greeted us and took our drink and food order. I ordered the bbq pork and my family ordered beef lo mein(with the 4 course meal special), shrimp lo mein and a sesame chicken. Within 10 minutes, the only thing that came out was the bbq pork. Drinks still haven’t touched the table yet so I asked another server for our waters. About 20 minutes later, the rest of the entrees came out, and by that time my bbq pork was cold. The server also forgot to serve us our rice we ordered that went with our entrées. Later we found out that the kitchen was very small and only operated with 3 stovetops. It was fine, but the server should of at least informed us that the food was going to take a while, instead of being very rude. Overall, the food was decent and the service wasn’t so great

Terrible service. I repeat… TERRIBLE service. If I could give 0 stars I would. We read the review before arriving but we decided to give this place a shot. All of the restaurants around were closed, which is the only reason we ate here. One of our entrees arrived before the appetizers we ordered(fried dumplings). The rest of the food arrived 30 minutes after. By the time all of our entrees made it to the table, our food was cold. We also had to ask for our drinks we ordered, TWICE. The food was OK. There was really nothing special about it. Portions are extremely small. The menu was overpriced and not worth our money. The meat in my Lo Mein was undercooked(pictured). I will definitely not be coming here again. This restaurant disappointed us all. We spoke to the manager at the end of our meal and he apologized for the service. Our tab was $ 116 with tip but after speaking to the manager, our tab was $ 99 for 6 people.

Ordered from here regardless of bad reviews — mostly stating bad service. Reviews mentioned good food so I gave it a try anyway. I ordered the crab and pork soup dumplings, jumbo shrimp and walnuts, and Buddhas delight. Before ordering, I asked questions — Do the entrees come with rice? They said yes Are the jumbo the shrimp with walnuts deep fried shrimp with candied walnuts? Does it come with broccoli? They said yes Does the Buddhas delight come with black fungus, baby corn, tofu, bean curd, mung beans, snap peas, vermicelli, and seaweed? I was told no vermicelli and no mung beans. The food arrived very quick — about 30 min after I placed the order but when he handed me the bag, I was surprised about how small the bag was. I was missing the soup dumplings, the entrees didn’t come with rice, and my Buddhas delight only came with about 6 diff types of mushrooms, 3 snap peas, 3 tiny pieces of bean curd, and another veggie I can’t remember the name of. The shrimp w walnuts was good but arrived soggy even though I had them separate the mayo sauce. They cleaned the shrimp very well. Because the shrimp and walnuts were good and fast delivery, I gave them a 2. Let’s see if I can get my money back for the missing soup dumplings though.

The food was alright, nothing special but definitely not bad, bit pricy though considering this is Chinatown. Service was… borderline bad, guess they realized that too so they added a mandatory 15%, for 2 people dining, which is like saying ‘f u we don’t care what you think’. So there you go one star.

One of the benefits of eating in chinatown as opposed to other areas of nyc is that the food is authentic chinese versus your standard americanized chinese takeout. This place is a classic chinese family style restaurant so it’s good for large parties and sharing a variety of plates. I came during a business event where we had lobster and alaskan king crab among 12other dishes and none of them disappointed. Came back several times for family dinner and the prices are reasonable. Unlike other reviewers, i had a good experience, gave an extra star for service. Must try!

day of the soup is appetizing. They change the soup everyday, and if you are lucky enough, you may get the one you like. Food is okay, I especially like young chow fried rice. Price is fair enough.

Food is ok. BUT the service is horrible. Shady Place. We had a table for 10 and asked for 5 glasses of iced water, waitress only gave us two and we asked for more and she ignored us. We were celebrating a friends birthday and asked them to bring out our cake, they brought out our cake… closed in the box with the box of candles on top of the box. And asked us to basically cut our own cake. We ordered twin lobsters… $ 56.00 Bucks. Across the street at Big Wong is only $ 28 bucks for twin lobsters. Portions are small here too.

BEWAREOFFRAUDULENTBILLING The restaurant automatically adds 18% tip to your bill, which is fine. But once they swipe your card, they give you a receipt that asks you to pay another 18% tip. If you didn’t notice that you already paid your tip when they first swiped your card, you would pay tips twice. The food is horrible and overpriced.

Don’t understand why the reviews are so low as we had a really fantastic time and the food was amazing. They must have had a change of management?! Ordered the sesame chicken and it was one of the best Chinese food dishes i’ve ever had, it was great. My girlfriend got the general Taos chicken and I tried some and that was really great too. Ordered the dumplings and spare ribs to start and they were fresh and tasty as well. I only wish I could come back here more often but I live in the UK! The service was really good as well.

It’s a LITTLE pricey, but it’s a nice, clean restaurant that looks modern. We came in and they offer a Chef’s Special menu with dishes ranging from $ 10 – 20. They also have lunch specials that start at $ 5.95. We ordered the pork/shrimp suimai $ 3.95 but there were only 3 pieces, I thought it came with 4. Also. Their wonton noodle soup is really good and fresh, $ 6. We ordered the sizzling steak plate with Chinese broccoli, I thought it came with rice like other Chinese restaurants, but we had to pay for a small bowl $ 1.50. It was ok because there was a 20% off your entire meal dinner special. I’m definitely coming back again.
