The Neptune has superlative Polish food, the employees are friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Tripe soup was great and the beef goulash I that I ordered was excellent. My dining partners combination plate of a blintzes, potato pancake, and pirogies were delicious. This was a great unexpected find in the east village and we will be back.

My best friends mom makes the best perogies. I stumbled across this polish restaurant with high expectation of amazing perogies. The food is very bland, I ordered the platter with stuffed cabbage, sausage and wish i went else where. My waitress was not the friendliest, but it’s New York City didn’t expect more. The best thing on my plate was the stuffed cabbage. I suggest they add some seasoning to the perogies because it taste like plain boiled potatoes and dough. I was able to only finish the stuffed cabbage. The only thing I enjoyed was the mimosa.

I don’t understand any of the negative reviews for this place. One review I read was even so ridiculous, the author hadn’t even eaten here! She just didn’t like the looks of the place. FFS, woman. Take your negative nancy ‘tude somewhere else. This is a very inexpensive Polish diner that doesn’t purport to be anything more. We came on a rainy summer bleh day and enjoyed every single detail. The service was delightful, the room was perfectly comfortable and well lit. The food was so yum. Split pea soup with toasted challah Borscht soup with mushroom dumplings Potato pancakes with sour cream Get all of that. Get everything. Lovely and so cheap!

After living in the east village for 6 years, I finally decided to check out Neptune diner. I feel like a complete dingbat for not coming in years ago. Menu is similar to veselka(the trendy, more pricey spot on 2nd ave). Got the borscht and the potato pancakes. So polish. So delicious. The service was impeccable, and so was the challah. Come for the cheap polish diner food. Stay for the zywiec. Mazel!

There is nowhere in the east village with a better deal. Food is great, coffee sucks, service is eh… My advice 1. Bring your own coffee 2. Be prepared to wait a little for service. 3. If you hate smokers don’t sit outside

$ 5.50 for eggs, toast, the best hash browns ever(paprika) and coffee. Neptune delivers. My friend added kielbasa — so $ 7.50 This place is old New York. Gracious Polish waitresses slinging slinging Polish comfort food for a song. I love it. Have had most of the many and can’t complain. You like Pierogi? Yes? You want with sour cream?

I love this place! This Polish authentic diner is perfect for a cold winter’s day. It’s cozy, comfortable, and the waitresses are old-style friendly. Like the ones that used to say ‘Honey, what can I get you?” The prices are also very reasonable. Today I had the white borsht, which was so delicious and hearty with slices of sausage, hard boiled egg and a side of dill mashed potatoes that you put in the soup. I also had a scrumptious stuffed cabbage dish.

A group of 6 of us stopped by for a few hot drinks, everybody ordered hot tea, the waitress still managed to forget my hot chocolate. It was not bad, the place is very cozy, very Italian, we ordered a plate of fries and fried fish filet, it was not bad but nothing special. The hot chocolate was made from an instant powder pack and the tea’s were teabags. Well, a few customers stopped by for drinks in the late afternoon, but I didn’t see anyone ordering food.

Delicious authentic fresh Polish food. Ordered the chicken soup, and the Polish sampler combination plate. The sausage was extremely tasty and so was the sauce. The stuffed cabbage was really delicious(much more fresh than Veselka). I found the pierogi a bit bland but the overall experience/prices made for a wonderful meal. Will definitely order from them again!

You know, I love Neptune, but they are KILLING me by letting people smoke in their back garden. The place is dominated by smokers at times. It’s really, really gross.

It’s OK. Delivery was fast, so how much can you really hate on pierogi’s at your door in 15 min. That being said, they weren’t great. Plenty of different fillings(best are the spinach and kraut with mushroom ones), but not too much better than Mrs. T’s. Also not anything special was the chef’s salad. Best part of the meal, by far, the matzoh ball soup and the keilbasa :) Would rock these again, for sure. Bottom line, if you need food fast and on the cheap, they serve it. If you need GOOD food, skip it.

Great Polish Restaurant. They serve a variety of cuisines but the best menu options are the authentic Polish dishes. The restaurant is dated in style, but they have a large backyard area. You can sit at benches with large groups; smoking allowed. When I go, I usually order Polish beers and sit in the back. Its always a good time

Delicious authentic Polish food. Not greasy like some of the other Eastern European places. Better deal than veselka and chilled out staff. Highly recommended. The early dinner special can’t be beat. Try the goulash.

i ordered 2 bowls of hot red borsct for lunch takeout. on their website the price is $ 5.50 but apparently that is the price for dining in. for take out, a large(i asked for a bowl not cup, and the lady on the phone said, large not small? so i said, uhh yeah, large!) is $ 10 and comes as a quart. this isn’t stated on the website menu so buyer beware. thankfully the waitress didn’t make too much of a fuss when we asked her to cancel the second borscht.

This little joint is a gem. With the breakfast special you can not go wrong– any breakfast meal comes with coffee oj and home fries. The home fries are sooo good! Also reasonable quick stop for homemade meals like soup too. Literally go here at least once a week. There are some grumpy server ladies but the great ones counterbalance the others. Good for a quick bite of cheap, good food

Very good grub and good portions. I’ve ordered the sauerkraut and mushroom pierogis before and even though you get 7, they’re quite big. It’s worth it to pay the extra 85cents for a big bowl of smooth sour cream to cover the pierogis. Also really like the banana and farmer’s cheese blintzes, it’s sweet but not overbearing and I like that. The service can be good or bad, I don’t think the staff mean to be rude, sometimes they just don’t seem to know English very well. lol. The borsch is very good as well, it’s different than Ukrainian borsch for sure, and it comes with dumplings which are soft and delicious.

My husband and I stopped at Neptune as it was a recommendation from a Polish girlfriend. I ordered the potato pancakes and he had the sampler. We weren’t all that hungry when we sat down, but we both managed to clean our plates. Delicious and filling, we would definitely return.

I have been to this restaurant now a few times and have enjoyed the food every time. The service is very soft spoken but very nice. We got the potato pancakes, mixed pierogies, fried kielbasa, and cabbage rolls. Everything came quickly and was so cheap for a New York dinner! We sat out back in the garden which, if you don’t know it’s there, is an awesome surprise. We also had a young child with us and they accommodates the high chair and random kids order too. I will say the restaurant itself inside is a bit of a dive and I’m not sure how they stay in business because it’s never busy, but it makes for quick seating and service.

Last evening’s delivery earned them another star Prompt and hot and again, decent Far from the best for the kind of food we wanted tonight Who’da thought you’d have to ask for sour cream and /or apple sauce when ordering blintzes and pirogi? I never heard of that The chocolate shake came to me as ½ cup of foam I know lemonade and this isn’t home made Unless they consider opening a can of concentrate and dumping into the water«home made» I guess they’re ok in a pinch

I wanted some great Polish food but this was very nieprzyjemny. I went with some Eastern European classics — kasha varnishkas, matzoh ball soup, and the pierogis. Here is my story. They brought out the matzoh ball soup after about 10 minutes. The soup was pretty bland and the matzoh ball was exceptionally bland. About two minutes later they brought over the kasha. That was solid. Then I waited. And waited. It got to around 2PM, so the lunch crowd was mostly gone. The two waitresses were talking behind the bar. I had been there for about 40 minutes, and it had been ~25 minutes since they had been over. But no pierogies. I went up and asked them about the rest of my food. They said«they are just being finished» but then immediately brought them over. I saw that they had just been sitting under a small heat lamp while the two waitresses talked. Classy. They were actually delicious — I wish I had gotten a full order instead of the soup. They were a great consistency and had lots of flavor. Given the nature of of my experience, that’s all I would go back for.
