Apparently, they don’t do the ayce brunch deal anymore. That day it was also cash only. According to the waitress, «I don’t know what the hell is going on these days.» Perfect. Fortunately for us, the breakfast burrito and cobb salad were appetizing and satisfying. Don’t expect to get drunk with a $ 20 bill. I hope they work out their logistics.

I’ve only lived in the area for just over a week and I’ve already been here twice … but that doesn’t mean I particularly liked it. My roommate and I have been wandering the streets of our neighborhood checking out new places but somehow ended up here for a second time last night. We were in good company so I didn’t have a particularly bad time, however the service was really awful. I’m not sure if the waiter was brand new or something, but he took forever to take our drink orders even though it was relatively slow when we were there, and when he did take our orders, he repeated them back to us completely wrong despite it being a very simple order(1 gin & tonic, 2 vodka tonics). When he came back with the drinks he forgot which was which. I mean this is neither here nor there I suppose but it was just kinda annoying all around. The time I was there before was super late night and we honestly only went because someone stopped us on the street encouraging us to come in. I will say though that the front door hosts are really nice, which is a plus.

I came here at noontime on a Friday on a recent vacation here. It was not very busy at all. Their menu items seemed decent and on the Latin/fusion side. Their décor was one like a rodeo type place. The service was TERRIBLE. our server forgot everything. There were only 5 – 6 other tables filled in this very large establishment. Whatever I orderd came with some avocado on the side and it did not have it when I got it. I was FINALLY able to get someone’s attention halfway thru my meal. I also got sangria, and it was pretty sour. Food overall was okay. I think they did a decent job of representing Oaxacan food, not that I think that many people can tell however. Decent food, Sour sangria, really terrible service. Let this be a lesson to any establishment that service REALLY does matter. Its quite a shame that I have to give this place such a low rating, but honesty, if you’re going to charge me 12 – 15 bucks for my meal, I think I expect decent service. I would expect better service on the east coast since the server’s wages are supplemented by tips since they only get half of min wage. Are you not working for your dollar? Sorry Mustang, I must slam you for your terrible service. I think it would explain why you were so empty.

i’ve never eaten a real meal here, so i can’t really rate the food, but while having drinks here, my group split nachos and they were the cheap kind with liquid cheese which i didn’t like. apparently they give you real cheese during the day, but if you come at night when it’s just the bar menu you get the gross stuff. also our small pitcher of margaritas was the smallest pitcher i’ve ever seen. it barely filled 3 glasses. after that, we switched to «large» margaritas which were huuge and cost the same as splitting the pitcher. so basically, get large margaritas, not pitchers and avoid the nachos.

PRO: great happy hour deals… very pretty and cordial female bartenders and hostess… good staff… nice décor… great food… free chips and salsa… affable clientele… great place to veg out at the bar and stare out into the streets and watch people pass by during quiet times CON: lacking inexpensive, happy hour finger foods… unwise removal of the warm, atmospheric chili pepper lights that used to be strung up around the chains supporting the ceiling lamps overhanging the bar

Sub par Mexican food, and the margaritas taste like they came from a prefab mix. If you want better Mexican food go to Taco Taco up the street.

An advertise brunch special written on a chalk board posted outside the restaurant brought us to Mustang Grill. Also due to the fact that our planned brunch spot which was located in the same area was closed or shall I say out of business. The special involved a $ 13.95PRIXEFIXESPECIAL from the EGGS&BREAKFASTSPECIALTIES menu which included tea/coffee and a drink such as a mimosa, champagne or bloody mary. Service was spotty. We kept asking for a lot of things which were never given to us in a timely matter. We waited forever for milk for our coffee while it was getting cold. Just simple requests. My breakfast meal was… EH. My toast was rock hard. My home fries were shriveled and hard. My steak was tuff and my coffee was lukewarm. The highlight of my meal was the champagne and the complimentary pumpkin muffins. The champagne was so tasty. The pumpkin muffins are to die for. It was so moist and delicious. I never had pumpkin muffins before. I would come back just to eat them.

This place gets a very solid average on my scale. The margaritas, salsa, guacamole are all about what you would expect of a Mexican restaurant. I did try the shrimp salad today, which was delicious, and our table split the Ahi tuna wrap as an appetizer, and it was very good, too. All in all, I think most people come here for happy hour/after work to grab drinks and people watch(as that is what the almost consistent crowds of people seem to be doing when they’re at Mustang).

I’m in love with this place. Chips and this awesome salsa come complementary, the service is so so, and the unlimited brunch specials are divine. I had the unlimited mimosas until they cut us off, and a traditional brunch– scrambled eggs, muffins, potatoes and sausage. The food was excellent. It’s great on a Sunday where you can sit outside, have an awesome brunch and catch up over drinks.

I love coming here in the summer for dinner and drinks and sitting outside. The food I’ve had at Mustang was great(the grilled chicken entrée is really good), so I’m not sure what everyone is saying was so bad. It’s a little out of the way for me, but when it warms up outside, I definitely want to come back.

I would not return to this place… EVER. The brunch was a confusing and bland mess. It tries to be Tex-Mex, but it fails. The drinks were okay. Our group went to Papaya King to get hot dogs and fries after we left this place. It’s a shame too because their private party room is cozy and quaint.

In general, the food here is definitely not what you should come here for. It’s a tequila bar for the love of God. You think they are going to make high quality tasting food all well knowing that you are getting snockered on flights of tequila? I think not! That being said, the Business Flight is the way to fly here. They also have a tasty margarita that isn’t terribly overpriced. If you have any respect for Tex-Mex fare, avoid the food menu and just consume. The alcohol, that is. And if somehow food does make it’s way into the order, make sure you’ve had a few shots first. It’s out of necessity!

The service here has been improving. My fave dish here is now the chicken corn tortilla soup. It is like a black bean soup with chunks of shredded chicken, grilled corn, and it is topped with strips of fried tortillas and a sliced up avocado. The avocado adds a nice balance to the soup and makes it creamy. Without the avocado, the dish wouldn’t be as good.

Hi! I am your number one customer. well almost. I rave about you so much that no one wants to come with me here because I come here a bit too often! Haha. I ALWAYS get the mango glazed chicken wings. It’s so good and I don’t know how they make it but I have a craving for it at least once a week. I usually sit out on the patio with my lover dover, but on the colder days, I’ve been ordering out and bringing it home(i usually tip 2 dollars for take out. it comes faster. ha!) I’ve had the mac and cheese as well and I don’t really recommend it. It’s a bit overly cooked and it’s smaller than your fist. I seriously ate like 5 bites and it was gone. Expensive for the texture and amount. I’ve also had their ribs. It was ok but I’ve had better. The meat takes a while to work with. the drinks are massiveee!(cocktails!) I had the soup before too(avocado with corn chips in it i believe) and that was really good. Most of the dishes here are good but I don’t have much to say about them. Not horrible, but no wow factor. Great for a dinner date. but my mango glazed chicken wings. the story of my life. it is the reason why i am here all the time! :)

I must admit, I am a sucker for this Mexican dive on the Upper East Side. Another dime-a-dozen local watering hole pit stop along 2nd Ave’s bar laden strip starting around 72nd St and headed north to «I can’t remember”-ville, Mustang’s is your go-to source for margaritas and cheap American Mexican favorites. The crowd? Well, if you can’t figure it out given it’s distinct location in the heart of WASP country, then you’d be close if you guessed preppy with a mix of dude. Youngsters and yuppies bop about the bar and lounge area and some even venture to a table to tackle the festive, spicy South-of-the-Border specialties offered on the menu Typically, I’ve come here for my favorite pre-night-out drink — a margarita spiked with Grand Mariner. Seriously though, just one of these babies will do you in if you’re not too careful. Sip slowly and at your own risk… They also have a bountiful cocktail list with several variations on the traditional tequila-lovers poison. The food, well that’s a different story… Once, and just once, I tested their might in the kitchen and ordered the guacamole. Not at all acceptable relative to the superb choices Manhattan’s premier Mexican restaurants have to offer(think Rosa’s or Café Frida), but not utterly hopeless. Though I will not order this again from here unless coincidentally struck with desperation while sipping a margarita at the bar, I would probably try whatever other ‘specialty’ they have to offer at some point. We will see… One wonderful feature this place has to offer is its copious outdoor seating. It can be really wonderful on a nice clear night with agreeable weather and good company. You may even see a friend or two(or several) if you live in the area or your friends do. All in all, not bad but certainly not great.

I was out apartment hunting with a friend in the Upper East Side last weekend and we decided to stop by here for brunch. They have a sweet brunch deal, with the purchase of any egg breakfast item you get one drink(champagne, mimosa, screwdriver or bloody mary), unlimited tea coffee or soda, as well as blueberry and pumpkin mini-muffins! The food isn’t remarkable but they are generous with the alcohol. Our server Marla was very sweet. The kitchen messed up my order ever so slightly and Marla offered me a free side — on her — to make up for it. Based on other reviews I’m guessing it might be worth checking out on a weekend night or during their weeknight specials and I will most certainly be stopping by once I move to this neighborhood. However I would definitely consider it a decent spot for a long slow lazy weekend brunch.

The food is pretty decent but you pay for fairly small portions for a larger price. Get the tequila shots. I think it was 4 shots for $ 11. Great way to start your night. I didn’t enjoy much of their margaritas, for it was watered down and just wasn’t authentic enough for a «Tequila Lounge». I did enjoy one of the servers there, who was a doll while serving us, and decided to dance some crazy hot sexy dance moves and he definetely deserved a huge tip for that(he was gay and fabulous!). Other than that there wasn’t anything so memorable about it. Just remember TEQUILASHOTS.

Again, not what I remember from years ago when I used to visit. My wife’s key thing with restaurants is this: «if it smells like a bathroom, then we don’t stay». Good thing she wasn’t with me yesterday, on this trip to meet my friend, where we just had a couple of beers and nachos at the bar. The bartender was very nice and friendly, but the place smells, and just is really beat. I can’t imaging eating a full meal here. The bathrooms are in poor shape for this location in one of the most expensive zip codes in the country. Needs an upgrade /face lift. I’m sure someone in the area can recommend someone. :)

Reasons I love this place: 1. Great tunes 2. Fun lighting 3. Funny/engaging servers 4. Delicious burritos 5. Amazing/extremely potent margaritas Just to name a few. This place is really fun for late night drinks and/or food. The music is always a great mix of the hitlist and fun 90’s songs, and all you want to do is sing out loud. The servers are always fun and keep the drinks coming, and recommend tequila shots just when you need them. The burritos are awesome too(I’m a burrito fan) and the margaritas are enormous and delicious. Love it!

I hated every aspect of the place. Let me tell you why: 1. The decoration reminded me of a failed Southwest themed birthdayparty where all the kitsch and cheap plastic just migrated out of the kids hands and onto the wall. They didn’t even spring for real steer skulls or realistically sized ones. 2. The margaritas all has stupid names. I get having a margarita named after the house but then go for some familiar favorites. They don’t all need to be named after Willy Coyote and his ilk. 3. The nachos should have been hurled in one solid blob right at the waiter as soon as he put them on the table. All i saw was bought-in. The chips were so clearly from Doritos, the cheese screamed velveeta, and the toppings tasted canned. I wanted to vomit. Everything about the place was uncomfortable(especially the sign that said no dancing). I don’t know how I got there but now I know what to avoid on the UES.
