Place has fallen off from the days when they were Taco Taco. They get orders wrong and now only take credit cards for delivery orders for above $ 50 orders. That is absurd in NYC generally but also illegal since the city does mandates that if cards are taken there cannot be a minimum order. It’s really a shame since this place was a great neighborhood place. They seem to lost the idea of customer service. It’s terrible.

Fresh made guac — yum! Go for happy hour drinks — even on weekends. Food is good too but margaritas/guacamole are standouts.

This used to be one of my fav places, but today I was very disappointed. I took my nephew here for his 10th birthday tonight since he loves mexican food. Across our table somebody else had a birthday and they were singing happy birthday to that person. So my nephew couldn’t wait for them to sing to him, but nada. They did not come to the table. I know they do not have to, but he was like oh no they forgot about me. So dont even bother to bringing your child for his bday here. Our waiter was nice, but not very attentive. He started being weird when we did not order drinks. Helllooo some people just dont drink. I had to ask twice for chips and then the third time I asked the manager, who finally had somebody bring it over. On top of that my best friend who was there also, started feeling sick an hour later. Def going to start looking for another Mexican restaurant.

The night didn’t start out great when they told us it was a 20 minute wait and we ended up waiting over an hour. However, I’m still giving it 4 stars because I had the best veggie quesadilla i’ve ever had. The warm spinach inside was incredible, I’d go back just for this!

Consider putting a little alcohol in your margarita, mole. I’m not here to drink a mango smoothie.

We stumbled upon this restaurant walking down 2nd avenue, we were in the mood for Mexican food so we decided to go in. We were seated quickly but didn’t receive any water or the menu until about 5 minutes sitting down(they weren’t busy at all). Although the service could’ve been better overall the food was great. Definitely will come back if they step up their game.

I wish I could review the food(or maybe I don’t, based on others’ reviews of it) but I can’t! Because we weren’t allowed to order! Here’s how it all went down. I’d like to preface with this: I’ve worked in the industry for years. Server, bartender, banquets… I’ve done it all. So I know how things work and I’m definitely sure I know how to be a great guest. I came here with my boyfriend and two friends. We put our name down at the door with a young lady who could’ve been friendlier, but they were busy so no worries. Nothing was said about a minimum food ordering requirement, obviously, because that’d be weird. When we got seated in the tiniest space imaginable squeezed between 2 tables it took a while for our server to approach, but again, they were busy so we weren’t concerned. We were ready to order our drinks and appetizers. We weren’t ordering entrees, not an unbelievable. Our server was clearly not pleased with that, as she snatched our menus up, rolled her eyes and got her manager. Her manager came over and said«I’m going to have to ask you to sit at the bar.» — cut to the scene at the bar — every seat taken and at least 3 rows of people behind every seat. Again. I know what was going on. They’re scared that we’re gonna order one drink, one appetizer, and camp out for 3 hours. But we weren’t! I tried explaining to her that we were really just going to have a few drinks and apps and gtfo. Why wouldn’t you want to turn a table that fast? It means more money for you, but I digress. She condescendingly told us that she had people waiting for *dinner* *DIN-NER.* She was very clearly not interested in listening to me, so we just left. I’m a strong supporter of the #wedontnegotiatewithyelpers movement, when a guest is being rude and entitled. But in this case I have to micdrop it with an #allguestsmatter.

My girlfriend and I starting going to Mole a couple of years ago when I moved to the UES and we have been going there almost every other weekend since. The food and margaritas are great! The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, they really make you feel at home and it’s not your typical pretentious ‘New York’ meal. A few don’t miss dishes are the Lamb Tacos(special), Fish Tacos, braised Lamb Shank and Fajitas. You really can’t go wrong here. My girlfriend loves this place because she is on a gluten-free diet and they are especially understanding and helpful concerning her medical issue. It does get a little busy later on at night but that only speaks to how good the food and margaritas are. One of the most important aspects besides the food and drinks are the waiters and the atmosphere. When you come in you feel comfortable and at home. Ask for Daniel when you go — he’s one of the best. He always checks on our table and says hello even when we’re not seated in his section. You can tell he genuinely cares about giving you a great experience and making everyone happy. I hesitate writing this review because we love this place so much but it’s selfish to not post about a place like this that has become such a big part of our weekend routine. If you’re in the area, GO!

Pretty good food but the space is cramped. The music is also wayyyyy too loud, I went with a party of six and I couldn’t hear anyone aside from the person sitting next to me.

We arrived at around 8:15pm, they have outside seating. This restaurant has nice décor and a calm ambience. We were greeted within 2 minutes and asked how many in our party. We waited 25 minutes standing and moving around back and forth because there is no waiting area and the restaurant in the front is tight for space. After waiting and following up the host says«we don’t sit incomplete parties». We were not aware of that if not we would have not waited. We were finally seated and they had tables available in the back. We waited around 5 – 7 minutes before our waitress Natalie appeared. Yes finally! Enough waiting! The drinks were good I had a mojito and a passion fruit margarita. We ordered the guacamole which came medium instead of mild. We explained this to Natalie and she said«hmm that’s weird that should be mild and walked away». It was way too hot so we got the attention of a busboy and told him if he could change it and he did. The tacos were appetizing they add cheese and salsa which gave it a kick! I would come back only with reservations made before, walk in def not.

We came once before for drinks, but this was the first time having dinner since we moved into the area. Everyone was raving about the margaritas, but the classic ones we ordered tasted pre-made and quite watery. Pretty disappointing, but the food was good. I had the chicken chimichanga and my boyfriend got the carne asada! Both were delicious, but I lovedddd their pico de gallo! Fresh and spicy. It was busy, kind of romantic feel in the back corner, liked the atmosphere… I think they were playing Jamaican music at one point which made us laugh. Service was great– friendly, fast and a Manager stopped by at one point too. If we have a Mexican craving again we may go back!

Positives: The food is INCREDIBLE!!! Served timely as well. Negatives: Some of the worst service I’ve ever had. I asked for no sour cream on the nachos, and when my boyfriend and I received them they were covered in sour cream, not the biggest deal but we sent them back as there was no way to just scrape off the amount they put on. What put the cherry on the cake is when we asked for the bill, the waiter said okay, 10 minutes passed…15, 20… 25. We asked another waiter where ours went and he said«he went home»…HELEFT??? Without closing us out? We asked the bill again, and received it timely, and on our way out our original waiter was just standing by the bar!!! He didn’t even leave, he was just being lazy and forgot us.

I came here on Friday Feb. 26th for a friend’s birthday. We were a large group but the staff made every effort to accommodate us and did not rush us. The drinks were good– I had a piña colada and a strawberry margarita. The margarita was a bit salty though. Everyone enjoyed the guacamole – it was very fresh. For dinner I had the tacos al pastor. They were very good – the meat was flavorful and the black bean tortillas tasted homemade. Overall, it was a great experience. I will be back!

Been here a handful of times and have mostly sat at the bar. The bartender is quite personable(naturally he has to be) and the food is OK. The margaritas are pretty good and $ 10 for a regular margarita which isn’t TOO bad in this neighborhood especially since it’s a high quality margarita and not that crap the other«Mexican» place across the street sells. It’s made with real lime juice(I saw the bartender squeeze it himself) and salted rims. YUM. The guacamole is good too but honestly, too pricey. I believe it’s like $ 12 for a guacamole chock full of tomato. Ehhh. I’ve only had the beef quesadilla(about $ 13) and it’s a mess as it’s semi-stewed beef so the juices begin to run as it makes your quesadilla soggy if left to sit for awhile. It’s a bit salty but it was quite flavorful, which is something I always appreciate. Overall this spot is OK. Not really a place I rush to give my money to as it can really add up. There isn’t anything quite special about this restaurant, but I did like that they still played Salsa music despite that mostly gringos crowd this spot.

My go to Mexican restaurant in Yorkville. Please make the ‘Mole Burger’ a permanent addition to the menu! It was one of the specials the other day, tried and it and thought the burger was outstanding! Guacamole is very, very good – hotter the better.

Pretty sweet spot. Guacamole was REALLY good… Loved their cucumber jalapeño margaritas. Pretty tasty. Quesadillas were pretty decent, very expensive for something not super difficult to make. Overall good time, good experience– service was excellent!

Guacamole is awesome! Margaritas are very good. I love the chicken fajitas. My daughter always gets beef burrito and my son loves fish taco. We have been coming here for over 5 years. It’s a no-brainer.

Went here for new years eve! When we popped in the whole restaurant was decorated in new year spirit — balloons, hats, signs! We all ordered drinks and I got the margarita with line and passion fruit! Boy– it was great. The drinks very fresh and made with fresh ingredients rather than mix. We got guacamole — really not great. A bit too salty and limy. We got a burrito(which was really big for 3 of us) and a mole enchiladas. Overall food wasn’t good as hoped for and drinks were very good. I would only be returning for drinks in future.

We went with my good friend from Paris who was in the city for the day. He talked about going to Mole and I told him there was one close to my home so we went to this one! We arrived around noon and it was absolutely empty so we thought it was not a good sign but we certainly can enjoy a quiet restaurant to catch up so we staid. We started with empanadas and guacamole plus a Bloody Mary for me and a hot tea for him(lame :-)). Everything arrived pretty fast(not surprising) and was actually good. We continued with eggs with chorizo and he got tortillas and again, it was really yummy. Overall, the food was great, the service was fast and the restaurant was really quiet so you can enjoy a conversation(and watch European football). Really not bad, four stars!

Came here for lunch with a friend and we had no issue getting a seat as we were the first customers for lunch. As for lunch, we ordered the carne a la mexicana and bisteck encebollado. They gave us their own chips and dip and I thought the dip was just alright. A little watered down. Not much bold flavors and just mildly spicy. Not a lot of in depth flavors. Both dishes were alright. The bisteck was more colorful because it had different bell peppers and onions. The other dish just had onions. In both cases, the meat were thinly sliced and overcooked. As expected because of the thinness of the meats. Definitely a way to cut back on costs. It was seasoned well but chewy. In addition, they used a lot of oil on the meat and it didn’t really help the dish at all. The sides they gave you were rice and beans. I didn’t really like the beans, fairly bland. The rice was over salted. Service was excellent. How could it not be? =P Water level was well maintained. Overall this is a decent restaurant but nothing to rave about.
