This place gave me the laugh of my life. Not because there was comedian on staff, but because you would think that at a well known hotel, there would be food available. We sat down and requested the simplest meal possible, soup and a wrap(to share nonetheless). 15 minutes goes by and to no surprise soup was still not served. The waiter comes out to tell us that they had no soup to which I responded to forget the soup because we needed to go somewhere and did not have time. He apologized and as we waited another 15 minutes there was no entrée either. In place of the absent food we were brought a complementary plate of cheese and olives that we quickly refused now that we realized we waited 30 minutes for nothing. To top it off not even a manager came to apologize and our waiter barely spoke English well enough to explain anything. Will not be going back and do not recommend to anyone, it was Absurd. Décor was fugly.

It’s wierd, creepy, dark hotel bar with indifferent service. There is a reason why you can get a seat at the bar; no one else really wants to come here. Why we do, I’m still not sure. The patio bar is close to the office but also strange. The G&T’s are strong, so I will continute to drink them.

I went to this restaurant with a large group for a friend’s birthday. Our reservations were at 8:30, so the place was empty when we got there. It was nice having it all to ourselves, but I wasn’t expecting it to be empty. It looked nice inside with the dim lighting and the flowers on every table. We were seated immediately. The wine list was large, but I just opted for a Long Island. It was strong, but it better have been for $ 15(I usually don’t pay that much for drinks). I had the Margherita Pizza, and it was OK. I wasn’t expecting fireworks, this restaurant not being a pizza shop and all. One of the orders got messed up, but they corrected it. The staff also let us pretty much do what we wanted because we got up, walked around the restaurant and had a photo shoot. I will admit, the service was slow, which blew my mind because we were the only party in the restaurant. I feel like we should have wanted for nothing at that point. Plus, I don’t understand why they even took a reservation for 8:30 knowing that their kitchen was going to close soon. Another positive: I checked in on Unilocal and we got 25% off our food order. Saved a good $ 45! However, I’m sure my friend will choose a different restaurant next time, given the vast cuisine of NYC.

I figured that MODA would be a good option for happy hour since my office is on the same block as the hotel. The first time it was exactly what I was expecting — cheap well drinks and wine. The second and third times however were much different. The happy hour ended at a different time, depending on which server you asked. I’ll be the first to admit that it’s a nice looking place, but the service and the quality of the selections are subpar. Future happy hour patrons beware — the advertized happy hour is a lie.

I was staying at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers just around the corner from the trendy Flatotel, when I happened to notice they had a restaurant and lounge called MODA. Super trendy! I decided to venture over here for breakfast one day, since it looked better than the options the Sheraton offered. I ordered some coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, and the brioche french toast. When you definitely pay a price, you expect the food to be good, and this place did not disappoint! Both the coffee and orange juice were great(and yes, you can mess up both), and the french toast melted in my mouth like it was funnel cake. A really great way to start off the day!

Visited Moda on a Tuesday evening; very quiet in the place and our party of 10 was easily accommodated. Very convenient location in the mid 50s. Price Fixe($ 42) included lovely beet and goat cheese salad, perfectly cooked sirloin with really tasty mashed potatoes, and a great piece of chocolate cake and coffee. Service was attentive and polite. Will schedule a return here soon.

Well, Moda is the most convenient outdoor HH bar for me to go out to after a long day’s work. I always find it thereapeutic to hang out in Moda with my colleagues and grunt about work over cocktails. The drinks are a tad bit pricey, the bartenders might take a while to give you a drink… but it’s a place you will often spot me after 6 during the summer time.

moda served its purpose. after a long, grueling day at work, some of my co-workers and i trudged over to moda to grab some drinks and unwind. we sat at the outdoor bar area, which was quite nice since the weather was beautiful that evening. the crowd appeared to be 99.9% local midtown executives who appeared dazed and very tired and who probably arrived at the bar for the very same reason as my group. maann that was a tough week. anyways, since moda is a hop, skip, and a jump away, it is extremely convenient for happy hours. i’m sure i’ll be back.

I have been to Moda twice for drinks with a business partner. The first time we were looking for some place to sit and have a drink and we notice the outdoor bar and gave it a try. The selection of draft beers is kind of limited and since the bar is outside it attracts lots of smokers. In the end it was a good place to catch up and relax before catching a train home. The second time we went because we both knew the location and agreed to meet there. I arrived first and scouted the outdoor bar. Not to many seats and lots of smokers so I decide to check out the indoor bar. I discovered that Moda is the Bar/Lounge of a Hotel call Flatotel. It kind explained some things. The indoor bar only has two beers on tap and both are imports. There is a big Guinness sign but it is only available in a can. I tried both the draft selections. The crowd in the bar was sparse and the two couples next to use were entertaining even though the did not know it. Since my business partner was late I decided to order an appetizer. I went with the crab cakes. The were more like crab balls and I was sick of them pretty quickly. Next time I go I am going to try the Moda Burger that was recommended in another review. Overall not a bad place to grab a drink. I might try another place next time.

Come to sweat during the summer in the outdoor bar with barely anyone else unless there’s a corporate function. Probably a pass without a corp card as the drinks are outrageous. Smells better than Rosey O’Grady’s though.

Why are there so many high priced, but disappointing restaurants near my office building? Though I don’t mind going here with my team for lunch, it’s a fairly basic menu. There are a few vegetarian options, but nothing amazing. I prefer one of the booths to the tables, which seem too close. It can also get a little noisy at lunchtime, which makes it difficult to have a work-related discussion.

10 Things I Dig About Moda: 1. It’s a cool name(means«fashion» in Italian) for a quaint pocket-sized restaurant in a hotel with a cool name(Flatotel) 2. The mushroom risotto — there is a fungus among us and it’s so damn delicious and wintry 3. Savoring their light, spicy gazpacho during the summer outside in the breezeway 4. The Moda burgers– served on a soft brioche roll w/crispy fries(shhh…don’t tell a soul about how good these burgers are) 5. The complimentary plate of mixed cookies and biscotti — Do not order dessert unless you really want a plate of cookies too 6. The dessert — if you opt to divulge, go straight for the chocolate budino cake… it’s death by chocolate… but who wouldn’t want to go out that way? 7. The service — outstanding. If the word«nice» and«gracious» were part of Zagat’s rating, these people would be the nicest and the most gracious. 8. The hotel lobby — when they have the world’s fair in the year 2630 and there is a ‘90s Exhibit, this lobby will be on display. It’s great for a late afternoon rendezvous with a friend… order a cheese platter and a couple of glasses of Kenwood Cabernet. 9. The bar — small, unassuming, well-stocked, and intimate. Me and a few of my friends sat at the bar eating a Moda burger and watched the World Cup on a giant plasma TV… alone. 10.The giant revolving door at the entrance of the Flatotel — there is nothing better than eating a great meal and walking through a revolving door out onto the streets. It’s like falling through the looking glass from one world to another. Moda is a find that flies under the radar(especially for pre-theater) Check it out and make it your own.

Stuck near Radio City on a disgusting slushy day, I just wanted to head to the closest bar. The setup of Moda is great, nice comfy chairs in a nice sleek modern style. The bartender was really nice and made my hot toddy by request. I also recommend the snowball-Bailey’s, Chambord, and Grenadine. So what was wrong with Moda? Well exactly what’s wrong with most hotel bars. Watching a nasty middle-aged«couple» make out and grope each other. Fake tan mannish woman from who knows where(you know the kind. the type that look like they are already 40 by the time they turn 15) and a ruddy businessman with too much gel in his hair. Both are probably married. Other groups included the usual sketchy hotel bar suspects-bewildered out of towners, goldigger girls looking for their sugardaddies. It’s not Moda’s fault. It just comes with the territory. If you can stand all of that, then Moda is actually a good place for a nice chat with friends and pretty good drinks to boot.

The food was okay, but not worth the price(even during Restaurant Week). The bar looked cool, but the restaurant really wasn’t. It had very little style and is very small. It’s also practically sitting in the lobby of the hotel. The service was awful, with one course coming out within seconds of the other, little concern for how the food was, and no offers of drink refills. Look elsewhere for a nice meal.

The entrees are mostly standard American dishes dressed up with Italianate flourishes. Very stylish place with a ton of outdoor seating space. Good pre– theater spot.
