I always order from here, they’re really fast and the food is generally delicious. The place itself is decent too. It can get a lil expensive for a college student but hey.

I try to stick to raving reviews about places I enjoyed. This is not one of them. I have been here couple of times. Place was just average diner. Tonight, I went by myself for a quick dinner. I ordered Open Face Chicken Souvlaki and diet coke. Diet coke came out as soon as I ordered it. Cool. I wait around and nothing else comes out. 20 minutes into my wait, I try to flag down my waitress to ask for a status because others were getting served before me. She sees me and mouths me «I know.» So I figure I am going to wait a bit more and my food will come out soon. At approximately 30 minutes into the wait, people who came in way after me start getting served their food. As I try to flag down my waitress, she ignores me. So, I ask to pay for my diet coke so I can leave and the head waiter near the cash register looks at me like there is something wrong with me. I paid my $ 2.75 for my diet coke and left. They have 5 or 6 guys just standing around and hanging out. They wait on one or two tables and fetch pick up orders. My waitress didn’t even have the decency to come and tell me my food wasn’t ready yet. All this could have been avoided with an average cistomer service.

In a neighborhood full of diners that are terrible(so sad) this one rises to the top of a shallow pond. I like it — wait! Kid in next booth just screamed worm! Not sure if it is sanitation issue, but not hungry anymore

Good breakfast place. They accommodate your customization very well about side menu. «2 eggs Any style» dish comes with 2 eggs, meat(bacon or sausage), toast and home fries as a side. They allow you to change from home fries to french fries, sweet potato fires, salad… etc. My another favorite meal is Mixed Berry pancake. Their homemade granola is good!!!

I have walked past this place a countless number of times and finally decided to try it. The people who work here are definitely incredibly kind. The food, however, leaves a bit to be desired. I had penne alla vodka with chicken and a side salad, and I LOVE penne alla vodka, but the sauce tasted a bit funky — perhaps they used cheap vodka? If I do come back I’ll make sure to order something else, because the ambiance really is nice and it’s a nice place to hang out with friends or a book.

This is my favorite diner! The people are so very kind, and the place is super clean! perfect to take your kids, for a date, whatever the occasion! My favorite on the menu are he banana nutella pancakes… to die for, and worth every calorie! Whatever you do, WHATEVERYOUDO however do NOT try the french onion soup. It tastes like grease water, with a pinch of adobo: c either than that? I love this place, and always eat here. Oh! delivery is always SUPERQUICK. The deliver guys are always so kind, and always smiling!

Was looking for a decent sit down restaurant in the area and went here after getting a local recommendation. I highly recommend this diner! The staff was very friendly, the bacon and guacamole burger was great, and the music/setting was on point! Classy diner open 24hrs and it is clean

First visit to Midnight Express for 2016! Nice window seat for two. Tables are spaced far enough apart so we felt comfortable. The atmosphere was relaxed with good music playing. Reasonable prices charged for the amount of food. This place is always clean when I’ve been here. Service is very timely. We had water and drinks brought to our table right away. Coffee is refilled routinely. Everyone works together to get the job done. You can’t miss with one of their huge omelettes. It comes with choice of potatoes and toast. No complaints about the Avocado, Cheese and Mushroom Omelette. My daughter requested hers without the mushrooms. I had your basic two eggs scrambled with bacon. Three pieces of bacon was the perfect amount. It came with choice of potatoes and toast. I was a happy camper with sweet potato fries and seven grain bread! Midnight Express is now my go to diner for breakfast! On cold winter days it will be worth the walk… Budget permitting:(

If your in NYC and want to experience a real good diner, then head up to the upper east side and visit Midnight Express Diner. I had breakfast here and it was very delicious. I orders eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes, and grits. The food was fresh and the coffee is very good! The waitress was very nice and always ensured I had plenty of coffee. The diner is in a very good location and close to everything the upper east side has to offer. I will certainly come back when I am in NYC again!

To tell you the truth, I’m always disappointed in the food when I go here. Unless I’m drunk and it’s 3 am and I need some food, then everything is pretty effing amazing. Sometimes I sit in here on a weekday morning and let the endless coffee make the words flow free. It’s not the best diner, but I appreciate that they’re there. Also the crepes are sometimes good. I was once given bad strawberries. The prices are ridiculous for diner food, but its also the UES so…

Woke up with a taste for chicken and waffles. Even though there isn’t a actual dish on the menu consisting of that, I was able to satisfy my need by ordering a side of waffles, and fried chicken off the dinner menu. Everything came in a timely manner. Tea and orange juice was included with breakfast! Waffles were nice and fluffy, chicken crispy and fried very well. Service was on point. Waiter checked in and offered more napkins! Will definitely recommend to all!

Wow I am really upset… I have been a loyal customer since I moved to the area and I’ve always had a soft spot for these guys, despite the steadily-declining ratings and reviews. Usually the food is pretty good and delivered pretty quickly. However, the past 3 times I’ve ordered have been HORRIBLE. Tonight my food took forever to be delivered, and it is the soggiest meal I have ever seen. The fries are uncooked potatoes and they are wet, and there is no way my panini could have been grilled, as the bread is soggy, cold, and pale, and the cheese isn’t melted. After 3 times in a row of getting soggy, careless food, I’m cutting my losses. Midnight express, it’s been real.

«Express Yourself» Midnight Express is about as perfect as they come. Anytime you have any sort of craving… they have you covered. Delivery is so quick and the food is a step above the harsh lighting of actually going to a diner. They package the food in perfect sized containers whilst not skimping on any of the condiments. Favorites include the turkey or chicken club, mozz sticks, and the chicken tenders are so freaking good. Fries from here are hit or miss. To be honest even when they are a little soggy they are still yummy.(the sweets are delicious)

I come here at least once a weekend. Food is delicious and quick, greasy without being gross, and in solid portions. I only wish their home fries were crispier!

«What can i get you to drink? OJ, water, soda, rum?» — This was the opening line for the waitress. It should be the brunch hour diner standard. Gold star for you, ma’am. It was 11am and the rum sure was tempting. This place seemed to have an awful lot of negative reviews and i just wasn’t seeing it. It is a diner, albeit a bit more upscale than the norm, still a diner. I dragged 2 UESers here with me so we could brunch before i left NYC and they didn’t seem to have any complaints about the food or service. The brunch specials start at 10am. I had the«billy bob» brunch special which included a choice of a select alcoholic beverage and additional side. I went with a mimosa and a fruit cup. This was my first mimosa, i don’t understand why they are so popular, should’ve gone with the rum. The fruitcup seemed fresh and had a nice assortment of colored stuff. Breakfast is almost impossible to screw up so i’ll just say the rest of the dish was great. They do have quite the assortment of addons for the omlettes — i tried a bit of a friend’s which had ham /cheese /tomato /avocado since i was skeptical about the avocado, but it was good too. There seemed to be a few flies in this place, but that might just be a NYC thing. At least that’s what i gathered from convos with my sex in the city type friends. Aside from that everything went smoothly. A lot of interesring sounding meals on the menu and it really seems like a decent diner for the area. If i’m ever staying in the UES again then i could see myself trying something new here.

I used to stop by Midnight Express fairly often until they became very aggressive with an order they filled wrong not only once… but twice for me when I went there with a friend. Great food, but their prices are insanely high even by New York standards. I wouldn’t waste my time on this place.

I prefer the older, greasier, cheaper version of this diner, but I can’t really blame them for wanting to freshen things up and charge a little more. Some diners are worth going out of your way for, this is not one of them. Now that this neighborhood has a bunch of actually good places to go for food, there’s no reason to come here unless it’s late. But if it is late, this is a solid choice. It’s not great, but it’s not bad. It’s clean, it’s got a good selection, and the service is fine.

This is my neighborhood go-to diner. I’ve had many drunken late night/early morning breakfasts, dinners here. The staff is pretty friendly. They have good food for a diner. I usually go for a regular grilled chicken sandwich w/fries unless I’m ordering fried eggs, with Turkey bacon and toast. I barely have burgers but if you’re gonna do a burger here, you might as well try the«Patty Melt» which is a burger with grilled cheese patties instead of a traditional roll or bun. I highly recommend. The good thing about diners is that you can get food at a reasonable price. This diner is no different. Oh and of course they’re open 24 hours and it’s such a delight to join a bunch of drunken fools with your own drunken foolish friends at 3am which is actually a pretty busy time at Midnight on. Saturday night.

Nothing special about this diner, the food was not especially good or bad. I had the ultimate bagel there, which costs me $ 16 and it was less good than some bagels I got for $ 4⁄5.

A solid 3 and a half stars. My «go-to» diner for the area. Definitely better in person than via delivery(4 stars for in-house dining). Midnight Express has a clean, warm and friendly atmosphere — I love the fact that the place doesn’t come off as cold and sterile as so many other diners in the area. The menu is impressive– varied but slightly skewed towards Mexican/Southwestern specialties. I highly recommend any of the quesadillas as an appetizer and their wraps are outstanding! Nothing is overly greasy or badly cooked and the service is spectacular! I would definitely try this place out for a late night bite or for breakfast –also reliable as a delivery option too at any time of day or night!
