The blonde guy who was helping me, I think his name is Maurice, he spilled all my milkshake on me, but then I was helped by a great employee named Akeen, he gave me another milkshake with a free dessert.

Love the Golden Arcs! My favorites are the Big Mc and the Strawberry Shake. But everything they serve is delicious. It is very clean. The cleaning crew does a great job. The prices and the service are top notch. They have an employee there named Akeem. That dude needs to get a promotion. He could run a country! Hard working and friendliest guy ever. He has the most amazing effect on people. There is something almost regal about him. Oh. And the lettuce is definitely well washed. I would post pics, but they have an odd«no photos» policy. I once saw the owner tell someone taking exterior photos to «Get outta here before I break that camera!»

If you have a dump truck there is a drive-thru. Get the McFake.

This place beats that other spot with the golden arches. Who needs sesame seeds on their bun anyway! Can’t wait to visit again next time I’m in Queens.

This was originally a Wendy’s restaurant until 1988. I do missed the Wendy’s baked potatoes but McDowell’s BIGMICK is the bomb! I don’t miss the sesame seeds that the Big Mac have on their buns; they get stuck between my teeth. Definitely pair it with a milk vanilla shake. The chocolate is too strong for the delicate BIGMICK’s flavor. Look for server Akeem(Mon-Thu, Sun); he is the most friendly guy behind the counter. Tip: M, R local train to the Grand Ave Newton station. Small parking lot and drive thru at this location.

I was in there buying a burger when some guy came in to rob the joint. These two workers saved the day. It was scary and exciting at the same time.

So many good memories here, from almost being robbed to always seeing those glorious buns without sesame seeds. Always a staple of queens blvd cuisine!

Food and service was great. I slipped on some Soul Glo residue on the way out and twisted my ankle. There will be a lawsuit.

I am so used to sesame seeds on my bun I was reluctant to give McDowells a try. As soon as I came in I was recognized as a Queen from Queens and properly greeted. A guy named Akeem took my order but he was kinda creepy. He kept asking me if I wanted the«good stuff». I was all like«Chill out Brah!!» Over all the McDouble was good and the Strawberry Milkshake was poppin. On the way out a lady tried to recruit me for the Miss Black Awareness Pageant because she said«my eyebrows are on fleek» but I didn’t know what that meant so I just bounced. Over all this is a cute little place in the middle of Queens Boulevard.

«I am so happy to be here!» –Akeem(voice) Was looking forward to seeing Akeem but a staff member had mentioned that he went on a double date with Patrice, Lisa, and Darryl to the St. John’s basketball game. As for Semi, I was told he didn’t want to come into work. So then I just ordered their special to-go the«Big Mic.» 2 all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions with Seedless buns!(highly recommended) with a strawberry shake. Very clean establishment. So clean you can tell that one takes pride with a mop. I would definetly come back when I’m in town. The Soul Glo music in the background can get annoying but other than that a great expereince. *note: McDowell’s Caters(they were at the black awareness pageant)

The floor was a little slippery the last time I was in there, and a couple of the chaps working there were pretty hard to understand, but very friendly. Can’t tell where their nationality was from, but they were super nice. One more so than the other. Can’t say enough nice things about the owner Cleo McDowell and his two daughters, Lisa and Patrice though. They actually helped sponsor the Miss Black Awareness pageant that my girlfriend participated in. I can’t say much for the singer that was there, but the snacks and beverages they provided that evening was very generous of them. I would recommend going. They have the best seedless buns.

Clean restaurant, the lad with the mop really took pride in what he was doing. The fries were great, it’s obvious that they only put seasoned employees in this spot. Loved the plain buns.

The famous difference between McDowell’s & McDonald’s is that the latter has sesame seeds on their buns. In my opinion it’s the quality of the food and the passion of the employees. For example the fries at McDowell’s taste slightly different each time — this is proof of good home cookin’ in the kitchen. Just enough salt and oil. The burgers are juicy & the vegetables are fresh. The chicken nuggets only have a little amount of breading on them, so you actually taste the chicken! Great variety of desserts including chocolate shakes, cherry pie, & fresh fruit. Every time I eat here I see One of their employees who is a diligent worker. He is a foreigner, and it seems like he could be from Africa. He’s always smiling and very polite and pleasant. Even if it’s not his job he’ll assist any customer. The owner, Mr. McDowell, can act fake at times… He puts too much effort into a façade. The only thing McDowell’s needs is more parking !
