It’s like this Starbucks gets worse and worse every time I go there!!! When I started going to this location maybe 3 years ago it was all good. The baristas were amazing and tried to engage in convo when they weren’t busy. But now… don’t even get me started. They forgot to write my drink down once and had me waiting for a hot minute. When I final said something, they didn’t even try to give me any type of compensation. Another thing is there’s this black girl who usually makes the drinks and gives orders out for pick-up and she is so rude. Every single time I pick up my online order she just hands me the drink with a serious stank face on. If there was a Starbucks closer to where I work I would go there instead of this location. This is terrible and they need to get their employees in check

This is not my favorite Starbucks location but because it’s the closest one to my house, its my go to coffee spot. I do mobile orders in the morning on my way to work. Out of all the times that I’ve done a mobile order, they’ve gotten my coffee right maybe two times. They never put the add ins you request with your order, just black coffee. On top of that, its sometimes not ready when I get there. What is the purpose of the mobile order if I have still have to wait and spend time adding the sugar and cream myself?

Do not waste your time coming here. Girls are nice dudes are so miserable with life. When I ask for less foam because he was mixing for so long, he got upset and slam my drink out in the sink. I WASSOUPSETTHAT i told him I dont want my drink.

I came here to redeem my bday reward and I had a pleasant experience! The staff making the drinks sure are pros at multitasking. The cashier even drew little balloons on the side of my cup ^^

The servers here are very nice, but this branch suffers from not having more seating. Being one of the few cafes with wifi in this neighborhood, students from this neighborhood often come here to do work. This place has a lot of natural lighting because of its large windows, which I really like. The servers, ever since the controversial incident, are extremely friendly and personable! I generally get the same drinks(iced coffee, passion tango iced tea, etc). They’re all made not too strong, which I like. They’re never really consistent though. They taste a little different each time.

This place still rocks, the melissa incident is all but forgotten, so please don’t hate this business because of the actions of one person. She was nice to me and all I have to say is maybe she had a bad day, or had an unruly customer, but I’m a happy customer who keeps coming back the end

I have lived in Elmhurst for a very long time and am ashamed to say that this establishment is a part of my neighborhood. This review will echo a lot of others in saying that customer service here is terrible! The only reason this store gets a huge customer flow is because of its location by the train. You will receive better service at Starbucks Forest Hills/Steinway/Target, or even the Gino’s Pizzeria down the block. Unfortunately I have witnessed many members of the staff get into prideful arguments, even yelling matches, with multiple customers. It is not merely«Melissa» who looks down on the people she was meant to serve. I’ve had multiple bad experiences with a barista by the name of Kamrie on separate occasions. For instance, on one day she sees me out of the corner of her eye and asks, «Do you need help?» I ask her for water after which she turns her back on me and says, «I’m busy.» How incredibly rude. On another occasion I ask this same individual when the store’s Open Hours are. She rolls her eyes and shouts, «I don’t know what that is!» After carefully explaining to her what that meant, she waves her hand as if to shoo me away and says, «Go look on the door.» By the way, Open Hours to this Starbucks are posted on the window and not on the door. This is incompetence at its finest. What really got to me was the neglectful behavior of the staff. I just posted a picture of a homeless man sleeping for a few hours at this very branch. I don’t have any problem with the destitute, however I believe that only paying customers should be allowed to sit in an establishment like Starbucks. The picture was taken at 6pm while the store was very crowded. However if you’ll notice in the image, the malodorous individual has the large table all to himself. The staff all the while happily ignores the situation while regular customers remain uncomfortable. If you have somehow made it all the way to the end of this unsavory review, please RUN, do not walk, to a Starbucks that isn’t this one.

so it turns out i actually have some history with this melissa chick. i visited starbucks one day during the winter of 2013, ordered an iced coffee, and had it handed to me at the bar with no ice. as if that in itself wasn’t ridiculous enough i had to ask two different eye-rolling baristas to please put ice in my iced coffee like wtf am i being a nuisance to you? did i order a venti room-temperature coffee? ugh so later i left a tip on Unilocal about having to deal with these workers’ incompetence and received a private message on Unilocal full of obscenities along the lines of «your a dumb bitch who complains shut the f*** up and get coffee from somewhere else if your so unhappy» i was so lost for words by this comment trying to be offensive with the horrendous grammar i decided to reply and tell this girl if you want to call me a dumb bitch first of all it’s YOU’RE and second before you get so offended by customers pointing out your incapability to work efficiently on a slow weekend morning learn how to make simple coffee drinks properly. anyway hilarity ensued(see attached screenshot), and 1.5 years later i see she has continued to be an utter embarrassment to the starbucks name and culture.

I’ve been here twice recently and each time the non– melissa employees had this I don’t give a sh*t attitude. 6 dollars for a venti iced latte with a side of attitude and slowest service… Love it! I prefer to go to the one of many local mom and pop bakeries in the nabe and get coffee for ¼ the price.

I visit this particular Starbucks almost everyday due to it being close to work. For almost 2 years, I have had to deal with Mel aka Melissa and her rudeness. I am Asian and no matter how nice and polite I am when I place my order, Mel would never write it on a cup. I end up waiting and waiting until I have to ask the Barista. I began observing her and noticed she only does this to Asians. Her grotesque and absurd attitude were also reserved for Asians. I used to hate running into her at Starbucks and sometimes I would walk right out if I see her taking orders. One other staff member, the one with very short hair is also quite rude. I saw her make fun of the customers to another staff member. Furthermore, when I order iced latte, she simply poured milk in my cup because she was busy chatting with a good looking Caucasian male. I paid for latte, not iced coffee with milk. Other than these two, I think the rest of the staff are friendly and wonderful. Some of them even made efforts to remember the customers’ names. It is hoped that Starbucks will be a better place now. This is a huge lesson for them.

I come here a lot, and was shocked to find the score dropped from 4 stars to just 2 stars in just a few days. Apparently there was a complain against one particular staff here but the the REST of the team is pretty amazing, so your mileage may vary. Pro: competent stuff, spacious, slightly better tasting coffee than other sbux(is that even possible? Maybe is all the reserve coffee aroma). Con: MUSICISTOOLOUD. Neutral: the shitty wifi… can be a blessing in disguise.

On April 23rd at around 2:30pm, I came to this Starbucks and got yelled at too. I ordered a drink and realized the lady in front of me ordered the same thing(I was like yaya everyone likes green tea latte). Then I was sitting at one of those high chairs waiting and I realized the lady in front of me already got her drink and seemed to enjoy her drink for awhile… I looked at my watch and realize I was getting late to my work so I went to the counter and asked a lady(not sure if she was Melissa) if my drink was ready… then she went crazy and yelled at me. She eventually gave me my drink with a very angry face and I walked out the Starbucks feeling wtf just happened? I thought to complain to her manager… glad I didn’t since it would be Melissa. Ps. Just found out the name of employee who yelled at me, her name is Avalon.

Let me start with the good, they still have my favorite coffee on the menu, hazelnut macchiato. My coffee looked a mess. I had to mix it myself. The caramel was at the bottom, the milk in the middle and hazelnut on top. There was so much spilling over when I tried to mix it and I eventually had to take the lid off to mix the caramel in. No big deal mixed myself. My problem was really with how stressed the staff was and how vocal they were about it. Being that I work in the customer service industry I didn’t bother to complain to them, they looked stressed as it is. Customers look very unsatisfied with their drinks, I overheard the cashier arguing with a customer because she was confused and was trying to order a drink that didn’t exist, she could have told her politely and suggested an alternative. One of the employees spilled a bag of coffee beans and the cashier lost it. Yelling«who did this» with a store full of customers. I hope management sees this and gives their employees the proper tools to do their job. Please see this as constructive criticism.

Why isn’t my 5 pound dog allowed in here? She was quietly sitting in her carrier expecting a treat. Why don’t you know what a puppuccino is? I buy a Starbucks coffee/latte almost every weekday from the Bryant Park location in Manhattan and the service and friendliness of the staff is night and day in comparison to this one in Queens. Also, what takes you so long to make a latte!!! Get with the NYC Starbucks program already, you’ve been open for 2 ½ years. This location needs help. I’d rather make my own PILON coffee on weekends before I go back to this hell of a Starbucks. No thank you! Yours truly, Sasha and Suzy

I find it unbelievable that they only have 1 barista making drinks during the morning rush. Even more unbelievable that he started making the drink for the guy who ordered after me before they started on mine. After he finishes making my drink, he leaves it on the counter and then proceeds to wash the shakers before capping my drink and handing it to me. The workers on the other shifts are way better, but the morning shift needs to get it together.

This is my go-to Starbucks in Queens! My regular breakfast drink in the summer is the Iced Coffee with Caramel. I would always order this drink at any Starbucks location. This is the first store to recommend me to substitute the regular coffee with the Kenya coffee. I am always open to new experiences, so I agreed. Surely, it was an amazing upgrade from the boring pike coffee and it taste even better than regular! I really appreciate them catering to my taste and offering recommendations to make my normal drinks more unique! I am impressed! I love this location for having Hawaiian coffee! The tropical coconut taste reminded me of my amazing business trip to Hawaii that I can’t wait to go back! Overall, my experiences with customer service here have always been superb. I would like to see more seating, faster wifi, and more pastries in stock in the future.
