Awkward atmosphere. We were seated in the side room with what appeared to be 3 restaurant regulars all sitting solo at different tables awkwardly yelling to have a conversation. More importantly onto the food, each fish dish we ordered was over cooked this included the fried calamari and a lobster pasta both were rubbery. I will say the home made pasta was on point and delicious! I would suggest passing on anything there but the home made pastas. The gelato had frost bite and they comped it off the bill which was totally respectful in my book!

Well, to be honest the food was decent, that’s from the my friend who is Italian and was eating with me tonight. Prices are on the high side but the overall experience was good. Where the one star comes in play is when I got the bill presented to me with mandatory tip added by the waiter and charged to my credit card. Since we were speaking French at the table the waiter for some reason thought it was okay to overcharge me with tip and just add it to the check. Another person was later apologetic about the behavior when I walked in to confront them. I have a hard time with these techniques geared to overcharge tourists they make me doubt about the honesty of the place.

Wow… I liked this place a lot. They had me at the bread and butter. I went on to have the spinach pasta in a butter/sage sauce. So GOOD!

Absolutely our favorite! Amazing fresh food with the most wonderful waiters. We come here regularly and the waiters always remember what we like and how we like it. Always feel like coming home when we walk in. Wonderful and comfortable outside seating and relaxing on the inside. We enjoy an after dinner drink as well. We find it to be the best place for a neighborhood date night.

Came for lunch. Had the salmon entrée with spinach. It was very good. Freshly herbed, and spinach well cooked with roasted garlic. The seafood salad was also very good– very fresh. Large menu. A bit expensive.

This place is slowly degrading itself — they need to revitalize. Their food is somewhat edible but over-priced compared to other Italian restaurants in the vicinity. What really turned me off was the ‘Today’s Specialties’: they were verbally recited with a heavy accent, and were over a dozen. It is common knowledge that the daily specialties are not printed and issued to the customers, because when there are recited they do not recite the prices. But over twelve daily specialties? Are their menu dishes that bad or outdated? We were a party of four on Friday evening and there were hardly anyone. We really did not quite understand the specialties, and ordered one dish each from the menu and nothing else. Beat a quick retreat, and will not visit this place for some time, until friends tell me that they are significantly professional.

I love this place. We’ve been there numerous times and have never been disappointed with the regular menu or the specials. The wine selection is great, and the service is perfect for a low-key place.

Maruzzella is a great, solid neighborhood place with an extensive menu. They also always offer excellent specials and I have yet to be disappointed. The décor is very relaxing and the staff couldn’t be nicer. Great service and very knowledgeable waiters make the experience very enjoyable.

I love the food here! The service is five star as well. The Eggplant Rolatini appetizer is delicious and the Chicken Contadina is to die for. Make a reservation because other people have tasted the food here and come back often.

One star is being generous!!! Ordered dinner from this place on a night that I was starving from a long night of work! Ordered Lasagna and a simple Caesar Salad– Food Came… Lasagna was a mishmash slop of mediocre lasagna and the salad had iceberg lettuce that was wilted brown and frayed!!! Called the manager just to inform him of this and he walked back to the salad with me on the phone to check the salad bin commenting on how fresh and green everything was… Offered to send me another salad… and I sent back the wilted salad so he understood… Opened up the new salad… STILL brown and wilted! Crazy!

I don’t usually eat at Italian restaurants(too many carbs) but friends were uptown and they chose Maruzella Ristorante. Turns out the food was quite good and I managed to not eat three baskets of bread. Appetizers were the fried calamari and mushrooms stuffed with spinach and fontina cheese. Both were very good; the marinara sauce that came with the calamari was especially delicious. My pasta dish was the salmon and bow ties. Again, the creamy tomato sauce was delicious. My friends had the steak and lasagna. Not being a meat eater, I didn’t taste either but both enjoyed the dishes. I can’t say I’m a fan(too many carbs) but if anyone who visits the UES wants to eat Italian, I’d suggest(and be good with) Maruzzella.

This place is the real deal. Service is great. Food is delicious, fresh pasta, seriously so good I didn’t want to stop eating it. I love that you can get half orders of the pasta. I got half orders of 2 different items(hey a girl has to try different things right.) 2 thumbs way up from this Italian gal.

Excellent pasta. Everything tastes very fresh and the half size portions make the bill a little less expensive. Really great service. Interior is a little cramped for my taste, but could be interpreted as romantic, I suppose. They are also willing to make whatever you want if they have the ingredients, even if it’s not on the menu!

Maruzzella is one of my favorite local spots. Tasty. Fresh ingredients. A decent wine list and full bar. The staff is always pleasant. I find the portions to be large. If you haven’t been — take a chance. You won’t be sorry.

Quite ordinary. Nothing was outstanding. Prices were fair. Service was good, Food was only good. Pasta special was ok. Linguine vongole was also ok, but I have tasted better and more flavorful. Dessert was uneventful. We have better places to go, even on the upper east side.

My family of four came to Maruzzella tonight after being rudely turned away at Yefsi(see my review of them for the story). We were seated immediately, treated superbly, and enjoyed everything we had(salad, dinner, wine, coffee, dessert). The owner was gracious and attentive without being overbearing, as were the servers. I’m so tired of snotty attitudes at restaurants — no food is worth being treated poorly. Maruzzella values their guests and serves a good meal — they win.

Excellent neighborhood find! Almost everything on the menu is made from scratch. We had the Pasta Bolognese and the Sea Bass… Both excellent, but the homemade Key Lime pie really is out of this world! Friendly and attentive staff and an ownership that clearly cares about their patrons, decent inexpensive wine list, what’s not to like?

I first discovered Maruzzella about 6 years ago and hadn’t been there in almost that long, so when the health grade at my current favorite restaurant was pending, I thought it would be a good time to revisit. What I found was exactly what I remember! –Friendly and helpful staff –Large amounts of food, so there’s plenty to take home –Huuuge oddly shaped gnocchi — something about them remind me of knuckles –Tomato sauce on the sweet side –Pepsi products a bit flat, your glass refilled and added to your tab –One(accessible) restroom for entire restaurant/staff In a town where restaurants come and go, the fact that Maruzzella is still here after all these years says a lot! Credit cards accepted. Street parking. Al fresco dining in warmer weather.

Maruzzella is a solid restaurant that always delivers good, consistent food. The service is always friendly, but never overbearing. Giving you plenty of time to chat, look over the menu, and decide on what you want. The pasta is homemade and always delicious. The last time I went with a shrimp special and probably should have stuck with the pasta. Shrimp were smothered in sauce and not what I expected. A good restaurant in what can be a sea of mediocrity on the UES.
