The true definition of a neighborhood shop. I was walking by one afternoon and remembered it was time for another eye exam — which they did immediately. The staff knows the frame to match your face(thankfully, bec up to this point my frame knowledge was RayBan aviator sunglasses). Fast, friendly, knowledgeable and they did all the insurance papaerwork. Oh, and I can see now too! Thanks!

Hmm where do I begin? Ok so I had an eye exam done here as a walk in which was cool. I want to say that it was a great appointment unfortunately I don’t remember the doctor saying more than a hello, how are you, and why aren’t you wearing your glasses? Other than that, there wasn’t really any conversation otherwise. Some may like that sort of thing but I’m just used to friendly engaging doctors. Now Ashley, was super helpful as always so I have no real complaints when it comes to her customer service. My issue is that I purchased two sets of eyeglasses that cost me close to 700 dollars. Now at that price, I’m expecting speedy and excellent work. I received one frame about six days later. The second frame was taken care of through my insurance and I was told would be ready in 7 – 10 days. So here I am 16 days later without my glasses. At this point I think it’s ridiculous to have to wait that long. I didn’t make anybody wait long to get their payment straight out of my bank on day 1.. So overall, would I do this again? Probably not.

Huge props to Ashley, receptionist, for going above and beyond in helping me and my daughter today! We are here from PA for a dance competition and my daughter woke up this morning and realized she forgot to bring contacts, which are essential for her to perform! We were so lucky they were open early on a Saturday, and Ashely was incredibly friendly, professional, and capable from the minute she picked up the phone. An eyewear catastrophe was averted by the heroic efforts of the employees of Manhattan Eyeworks. The people who helped us were cheerful, knowledgable, and eager to make sure we left happy. While the store is small, the quality of the selection of frames is high. Very grateful for their service and couldn’t recommend the shop more highly. If we were local, this would be our go to glasses store.

Wonderful place. They are very friendly and really helpful. Had a last minute emergency with no glasses and a really high prescription. They got me measured, messengered over my lenses and had me a new pair the next day. With my prescription, this should be impossible, but they did it! Truly above and beyond service.

Went in because it’s a neighborhood store and I really like supporting the places around me. Having said that, this place is VERY small and only really sells prescription glasses, I was looking for sun glasses which they do have a few of. I tried on a few and finally found one that I liked. There weren’t a lot of options so I felt like I was settling, but it was okay, they work and they were a good deal, so… I really love the people here. They’re super friendly and made the process of finding glasses really easy. I may not return for sunglasses, but I would definitely get my prescription glasses here!

We had an exceedingly pleasant visit in this store. Everything was easy and it had a genuine neighborhood feel(unlike the chain stores we have been to in recent years) with an exceptionally attentive staff — knowledgable, patient and friendly. The gentleman who first greeted us explained exactly what our new insurance plan allowed and put us at ease right away. Saturday’s doctor(Dr. Salome?) was a lovely lady who, besides being gentle and very thorough, seemed genuinely concerned. She is a complete professional and the best eye practitioner we have met in years. Ashley was great fun in helping us select frames and paid close attention to every detail of our orders. She is very patient! The selection was fine; we found frames in our price range that we really liked. What seemed at first like a dull chore turned out to be a very nice time.

These guys are the absolute best for frames and eye tests. Honest feedback and endless patience. Recently, I bought a pair of glasses that ended up being uncomfortable. They happily exchanged them. When the replacements were still uncomfortable, they directed me to some super light titaniums, had new lenses made, and I still only paid for the first pair. Excellent customer service.

Was recommended to me by a personal friend who had only the best to say about this place. I cant think of a better place in Manhattan to take care of any optical issues, glasses or contacts. What an amazing experience, such a mannerable, timely, courteous and caring facility. The minute I walked in I was greeted with all smiles and a welcoming hello. I was seen almost immediately. The doctor was so sweet and she listened to my every need and concern. She gave me clear answers that left me without any questions. She was truly outstanding. They went above and beyond to help me. I love this location. I go for my yearly eye exam and they are efficient and quick so I can schedule appointments during my lunch hour. They also offer to send in the paperwork for the contacts rebate which I LOVE! Since i always forget to do it on my own.

Limited selection for prescription glass frames. They are much more expensive than other glass shops I’ve been before. Their contact lenses are about twice the amount else where. I don’t know how this place is still in business. I definitely would not go back if they were giving out glasses by the truck load! Also, the lady who works there is so rude and not helpful at all. She is very argumentative regardless of reason or whether it is legitimate. I came into this store twice and it’s not a welcoming place. Both times I was there, there were customers arguing with the ladies out front. The only reason I came here was because other places were booked when I needed an exam. Terrible customer service. Overpriced. Extremely NOBUENO! Update: 2÷6÷2015 Since Manhattan Eyewear wants to get into my story, I will share so you all run as far from this place as possible. Couple hundred frames are nothing compared to places that have thousands!!! And the frames here are so dated! My main frustration is not with my insurance, I know how much allowance the plan provides(by the way before this place can even tell me in the first place), but with this terrible ran place. 1. OVERPRICED — FACT: half year supply of Biofinity is $ 120. Online such as vision direct $ 50 to $ 70). 2. Different staff will tell you different inaccurate information and at the end, you are the negatively impacted. FACT: if I wasn’t told that my insurance would cover the full year of contacts based on how this place priced the lenses, I would have taken the contact prescription and bought it else where. Who wants to drop money at places and people like this, I DONT!

Horrible customer service. I went in today for a consultation to get a contact lens prescription. This lady who was dealing me was so rude and she made me leave. She acted like as if she did not need my business. She never explained about the fees she’s going to charge me. I simply said that«I paid this amount at another place» and she shuts me off and says«that’s the fee we’re charging». My experience here was mixed, but overall fairly negative. My first trip here to try and secure contact lenses was pleasant. I had called in advance, but it turns out that I didn’t need to, plenty of people were just walking in with a bit of minimal wait. Service was very friendly(I spoke to Ashley and Dr. Kim). I got fitted for contacts(I’m not sure that the prescription was right for me, but they asked me to return for eye dilation free of charge, so I figured I’d talk about it then). After that, my experience has been a mess. I’ve been trying to go for literally two months now, sometimes by calling in, sometimes just when I have time. The doctor is only in three days a week. Apparently getting to see him is rather difficult after 5, and forget about it if you generally work past 6. Eye dilation(as cited by Dr. Kim and others at the store itself) should only take 30 – 45 minutes, but this time period has been upped every time I’ve gone to try to see a doctor(45 minutes… 1 hour. make an appointment before 5 to see the doctor). I’ve made a couple appointments(which I was told was okay upon calling, for 6:30(not enough time.) and then at 6:00(not enough time.) and now have just resorted to trying to show up at random times, hoping to snipe a doctor. My sample monthlies are long broken, and were blurry in the first place. Can’t. See. Anything. Maybe that was the trick. +1 star for the friendliness upon initial visit.

Dealing with Dr. Andrew Salzan and his staff will leave you feeling scammed and helpless. All the red flags were there, but I ignored them because I was in a hurry to get my exam done right before the Christmas Holiday. After my exam, I was disappointed to find out that their frames selection is extremely small and limited. So I was forced to take the prescription from them and go somewhere else for the frames. To my shock, when I received the eyeglasses they were the WRONG prescription! Doctor Andrew Salzan had written me the wrong prescription! So I call Manhattan Eyeworks and ask them for a refund since by this time I had moved to NJ and don’t come to the city often. They DONOT apologize, and proceed to tell me that there is nothing that they can do for me other than ask me to make the trip up to NYC during the week. I work during the week! I asked if I could go to their Chelsea location on the weekend, they said that they are a franchise and have no association with the Chelsea location other than the sign outside their door. It has been 6 weeks since my eye exam and I’m still wearing my old broken eyeglasses because of this unprofessional institution. Avoid Manhattan Eyeworks at all cost.

My 2 year old frames, that I adore, had gotten so wide that they were slipping off my face whenever I looked down so I knew I needed to do something before they shattered all over the subway next time I looked down at my phone. I wandered into this place in the middle of the day and just sadly showed the woman working the counter the frames. She warned me that adjustments were at my own risk and then set to work molding them back into shape with heat. The process took only a couple of minutes. She then told me to try them on and see how they felt — and they were perfect! She also invited me to come back anytime that they started to loosen. Most shocking of all — absolutely free of charge! I’m very grateful that I don’t need to buy new frames now because of the adjustment, but next time that I do, I’ll definitely come here because of the customer service. Also, I browsed around while she was working and they had a great selection of cool looking frames and I liked the décor of the place a lot.
