Wish I could give this establishment no stars at all. Don’t be surprise if you get told«table minimal is $ 1000» to enter with about only 20 people at the establishment because clearly they are racist and judgmental. Good luck. Let’s see how long this establishment last in NYC where there ‘s million other locations to have a great time.

It’s ok… The view is nice, but that’s about all you get here. Not much in terms of service, or atmosphere, prices are reasonable compared to other NYC nightclubs. As a tourist, not worth going back. Guess it’s more of a low-key local spot.

This spot is the worst. Me and my lady visited this location after work. We were asked to give my cc to hold while we drank there super expensive drink. After we ordered out first round(water down) expensive drinks, she returned and said my cc didn’t work so I gave her another card to hold. She then came back to me with that card and said it didn’t work. I then gave her another card, since she didn’t return I took it as if the card was good. Upon leaving she promised that no charges was made on my card but, low and behold I was charged on all of the cards that was giving to her. I am now waiting on a refund. Save your time. for get the money…

Perfect place to take you away from the usual NYC night life. The ambiance and view are incredible here. The staff was always checking in on us to ask if we needed anything and all of them were extremely nice. The palm trees and white furniture, plus the lights make the place very fancy, which we loved. We will definitely be going back!

Clubs aren’t necessarily my scene, but Mako is definitely on the lower end of places I would go back to again. Mako is on the Hudson River, so you get these glorious views… of garbage in the river. On the flip side, Mako is one of the few club spaces where you won’t have to deal with bathroom attendants, instead you’ll deal with a fairly clean public restroom. As for Mako, there aren’t nearly enough waitresses, the music is loud and honestly, there is nothing awe inspiring about Mako. I say skip it and go somewhere else, or just go for a walk along the West Side Highway.

Terrible service. Trying to be South Beach but completely failed. It’s in a shared public NY water transit pier with shared public bathrooms. Save yourself the $ 20 drinks and go elsewhere.

Came here with a few friends on a Sunday to chill out. This place is fairly new and is slowly improving itself, as many businesses do in the beginning. We ate, drank, got some sun, and danced to some nice house music(even tho a variety would be better). I have no real complaints, and might come back another time. However, my best part of this spot was Pete the security guard. Very gracious and sweet. Not the words you usually use to describe the security lol. But he made us feel at home and have a good time.

I don’t believe one of the 5 star reviews below is real by the way. Mako is in the perfect spot for an after work bar for people traveling by ferry to Jersey City and Hoboken. However, Mako is the LAST place that should have opened in this space. This space is perfect for a low key craft beer bar for people commuting to grab a drink on their way home. It would have done really well with that premise. To put a nightclub/lounge here was not a smart idea. I don’t think it will last very long and not just because of the location. Let me detail the service here for you. My friend decided to have her birthday here at 6 pm on a Thursday night. She called ahead, asked all the right questions, worked out the details and yet still when we were there the«club» kept giving her problems. Due to the location and the pricey drinks the entire space was empty except our party. Oh except the 4 years olds playing on the bed/lounges that are for bottle service only. Our waitress, Tatyana(according to the check — and I don’t want to place blame because the first girl who took our order was lovely but the girl who oversaw our table in mint green was not), keeps bringing over the hostess to yell at my friend during her party about how she needs to guarantee a $ 1000 minimum and order bottles, despite what the bar told her earlier. Also, as mentioned below you can only do waitress service and Tatyana had a really hard time getting drinks out quickly or managing the tabs and kept ignoring people trying to give her credit cards and not returning change, assuming it was all tip. At 8:30 my husband asks Tatyana for his card to close out to which she replies, leaving already? He says, yes. She then asks why he needs to leave so early. He tells her he has to be at work early. She brings his card and stands over him to see what he is tipping and comments that he only spent $ 70 with her. If you were nicer to your patrons, they might come back Tatyana… To add insult to injury, they tried to force us to order food, which we would have done except they ran out of all entrees and we didn’t want the crappy fried appetizers. Additionally, you have to use the dirty NY Waterway bathrooms. At 8 pm they put down a red carpet, start up the DJ booth and make a «door line». Which is hilarious because the bar is empty. They really don’t get it at Mako.

Mako is what new york needed. Place with spectacular views, great crowd and lovely music. The team has created a great concept of opening a waterfront lounge. Mako is where ill be spending my summer!

I’m giving this place 3 ½ stars. If you want a place outdoors in the city sans the Frying Pan/Boat Basin crowd, then you might want to check out this new potential summer hotspot before it’s discovered. ‘Tis fairly new(about a month or less old) and it’s got a so so nice location on Pier 79 on 39th and 12 Av. I say so so because it’s sharing bathroom/kitchen space with the West Midtown Ferry Terminal. So, in a way, it sort of takes away from that sexy ambiance this place is shooting for when ferries, tourists, commuters are constantly docked/ferried back and forth not far from you. It’s alot smaller than it looks in the pictures. I dig the palm trees and the all white furniture/daybeds.I do admit it does do its job of allowing you to feel taken away from the concrete jungle and transporting you to Miami even if it’s just for a bit. Drinks were fancy along with fancy prices. Beer was your average price but if you want a fancy concoction like their Mako Mango be prepared to drop about $ 16 a pop. For groups, there is bottle service available and also punch bowls that range about $ 250, which may not be so bad if everyone in your group drinks and splits the costs. When researching their site, brunch service was advertised so I was really there on a Saturday afternoon to scope out how their brunch was for a potential bday celebration. #1) the number they have advertised to make reservations doesnt always work so you have to keep trying and get lucky. #2)online reservation system doesnt work #3)when I finally got a live person to make brunch reservations, she was in shock by the word brunch #4)boy got there before I did and attempted to check us in under my name and that was a challenge for the staff. Where is the brunch menu? If it’s advertised that there is brunch service, I expect a brunch menu. Carafe specials with mimosas, bellinis, bloody marys with sausage, eggs, pancakes were non existent. Where are they? We got a standard menu offering salads, chicken wings, sliders with fancy $ 16 drinks. I’m not complaning about my ahi tuna salad because it was actually good but I wanted brunch so I was dissapointed with the false advertisement. I understand they just opened and are still trying to get their act together, but dont advertise such things if you can’t deliver. I also understand we’re going with a nightclubesque theme but there are tons of places in the city with same concept and even they have brunch service that turns into a club eventually. We love our daydrinking here in the city so please make this happen soon. Wait staff were cute but I do agree with other reviewers in that they need better training. Our waitress was barely a presence. She was there and she was not. It wasn’t even that busy. Often times, we had to flag down other wait staff to order more drinks. I do like that there were men that seemed like the managers consantly walking around asking if we were ok but that’s pretty much all they did. The crowd was mostly tourisy. I’m not sure if the locals are aware this place exists yet but then again I haven’t checked out the night life here. According to one of the walker managers, the place gets packed at night so who knows? Overall, I did have a nice time with the boy. The ambiance was good. It wasn’t crowded. They were not rushing us to leave so it wasn’t so bad. Please fix your brunch!

The worst staff and customer service. Just a tacky/boogie place trying to make a quick buck. Only positive thing is cool view. I came with my GF at 9pm dressed very well. I was told to get a bottle? I’m one dude with a hot gf Why do I need a bottle? I would’ve had to get my stomach pumped. They turned us away bc bottle service. The place was EMPTY. The place is a joke and won’t be in business much longer. Fake Miami theme Mako SUCKS

The place is really nice, definitely very cool spot. Drinks are good, and the staff is amazing. Music is very good as well. Ordered food and it came out fast and it was also delicious. Waitresses are friendly and everyone is very polite.

I was very excited to hear about Mako opening. I mean, who can deny a trendy outdoor lounge by the water with summer just days away? I got the pleasure of checking out the scene last Saturday night. The atmosphere, service, and music were all great– definitely met my expectations. I look forward to future summer brunches, sunset cocktails, and champagne bottle poppin nights to come! Well done, Mako!

My last review was removed, and I can only guess it was because Mako complained about the truths I was spilling… So I thought I would give a more comprehensive review. DONOTGOHEREUNLESSYOUINTENDTOBURNITDOWN. Upon arrival and after twenty minutes of not being greeted by anyone, I decided to go to the bar and place an order. I was told that the waitress was the only vessel through which I could attain a drink. And a vessel, she was. Although we were in a large group clearly in need of her attention, I literally had to stand in front of her to get her to take my order. Fifteen minutes later, I see her giving my(now iceless) drink to someone in our party who looked nothing like me. I’ve received bad service before, but not quite like this. The drinks themselves were weak and overpriced. The hors d’oeuvres were dry, bland and scant. I was not surprised there were no seagulls bothering the party because I don’t even think a trash bird would waste their time with the food being served here. I would suggest stopping here for food only if you have low blood sugar and are in danger of going into a diabetic coma, or if you have a tapeworm with undiscriminating taste. …but they do have a view… of the Hudson… and the side of Jersey. I imagine that’s what«justifies» the astronomical tab for since there is clearly nothing else here worth paying for. Mako? Skip it…

Went here for the first time this past Sunday and had a blast. I can only imagine what a Saturday night will be like! Mako has a great view and is an excellent summer spot for both singles and couples. My only complaint was our server. She was basically non existent for most of my time there. However, I was fortunate to meet Olivia Whale. She was incredible all night long and was able to serve me and my group and be an gracious hostess, she really saved the day. This place is a high end club so if you’re not into that kind of thing then you may not enjoy your experience but I would fully recommend this place to anyone I know!

Outside: waitress order only. Inside: get yourself. $ 12: red bull/vodka. Music: cheezy nightclub [suggest: acid lounge /drum n’ bass /deep house] Girls: mostly bottle service looking. Ambience: relaxed view w/smell of ocean.

Upscale vibe clashes with bad service and poorly made drinks. Wallet to Taste Ratio: 5:2 Drinks on the cocktail list are $ 17 – 19 and damn average. Opt for a well drink at $ 10 if you end up here. Ambiance: The saving grace of this place. Patio setting right on the Hudson complete with white couches and shrubbery. The glow cube seats really hit it with my friends. Service: Slow considering how they weren’t packed until we left and there were servers marching around everywhere(and sitting to have a drink with their visiting friends?) They lost my two visiting friends’ credit cards which took another 20 minutes to sort out. Feel kind of sorry for the owner. It’s their second week and they clearly don’t have their act together.

The ambience is nice. But they managed to take 20 minutes to get our drinks and lose our credit cards along the way only awarded them with two stars. The service is terrible here. The waitresses are not trained at all. The overpriced drinks does not compensate for the ambiance.
