My coffee staple on the weekends that I’m at home — close by and reliable little shop. I haven’t been to the main one, but this location is never crowded, always just enough seating for when I need it. Make sure to go around noon or 1 pm if you want an almond croissant — the pastry selection is great and their doughnuts are from Dough. Also, check in on their little device — I prefer this greatly to carrying around a rewards card since you just need to enter your phone number and they’ll keep a record of your visits. The service is great, as every person I’ve talked to at the counter has always been cheerful and friendly.

Excellence all-around. My dad and I were traveling and needed to drop off laundry nearby. We decided to kill some time and get coffee here. Dad got a regular coffee. I got an americano. Also grabbed an almond croissant. Dad was happy with his coffee. Even complimented the barista as he passed by. Best americano I have ever had. Absolutely smooth finish. Almond croissant was nicely flaky on the outside. On the inside, there was a deliciously pleasant filling. Do recommend.

Mad Man was pretty great. The coffee was good, the service was pleasant and the perch on the second floor of the shop was comfortable and nice to sit at while I ate my croissant and drank their MadMan special which was essentially a dirty chai. Would visit again.

Apparently not all madman opens on Sunday but the one closest to me does, hooray! I really need some caffeine to boost me up after my workout so got the skinny iced latte. No sugar just to keep healthy oh yay! Really liked their seating on the second floor — the balcony type of bench extended a bit outside so you’ve got a great view. Too bad they will be closing early on Sunday at 4pm, and they are not opening early enough for me to grab my morning dose… still, I’m a fan of Madman now!

I had to kill time this week between 2 appointments and came here to hang out with some cold brew coffee. I sat here for quite sometime with said coffee and Fabiano working the counter was funny, sweet, friendly and all-around awesome. No one had a problem with me just sitting there for like 35 – 40 minutes and I got to listen to a job interview go down next to me. She was interviewing for a Public Relations internship for a local photography company. I hope she got the job because she sounded super smart, confident and passionate about her work, lol. My coffee was really delicious and definitely good quality stuff. None of that burnt coffee bean after taste synonymous with Starbucks(who’s skinny iced caramel macchiatos are still my weakness — although it’s rare when I actually get em’). The coffee menu here is brief but clearly carefully curated to only carry quality brews. The front area also houses some really lovely looking fluffy croissants, bagels and sugary danishes that also look like a perfect accompaniment to a well made latte or espresso. To the left of the register(by the sugar, milk and cream containers) they also sell some locally baked gluten-free cookies. There was a peanut butter chocolate one that had my name written all over it, but I decided to be a good girl and not inhale the unnecessary calories — lol. This isn’t really a neighborhood that I frequent often, but that might change if it becomes my new work ‘hood and if it does then Madman Espresso will help make that shift a pleasant one :).

Very friendly staff and tasty coffee. I had a large cold brew after my flight into NYC and boy did it hit the spot. The coffee is from Café Vita which was reminiscent of the coffee back in Seattle. I highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for above average coffee.

Amazing space with delicious drinks. The signature potions are always a good choice: sarabella or madmanchino. I really enjoy their mocha as well. There are a few milk options: whole, skim, soy and almond. Other locations are gems too, but this one is just special. Can’t beat it’s two level layout!

Madman is quite a walk from my office, but I’m glad that I made the trek over. The café is located very close to 9th Ave, pass the Homeward suites hotel and construction area if you’re walking towards the West side. There was only 1 person working at the counter, and 5 customers ahead of me. The barista was very quick with the orders. I ordered a chai soy latte, but he made a soy latte by mistake. I’m glad he did that because the soy latte was very good. It tasted strong, but not overly bitter, or acidic. I did not add sugar to my latte. There were a couple of people on their laptops. There is only a couple of tables, and upstairs seating. No restrooms for customers though.

my go to for a great cup of coffee on the weekend. slunk in one semi hangover morning after being up for 22 hours and sleeping for 5 hours for a double latte with almond milk, a yummy elixir the ex put me on to, but i always hated on… until i had it in latte form. the coffee is stellar, flavorful and earthy and the latte is creamy, thick and potent. the vibe is the main draw — bob marley playing in the background, high ceilings and a giant circular chandelier, people speaking in all kinds of languages over their morning drip and the nutty smell of espresso caressing over you. i get a good deal of writing done here. a huge plus is, unlike a lot of great coffee shops, you dont have to hustle for an industrial seat. and in midtown its really really hard to find something that is delicious and has personality, its usually either or and often neither. mad man espresso is an outlier, an oasis in the sea of garbage chain spots.

Such a refreshing change of pace from Starbuc**! Small space with a 2nd floor for relaxing. Prices are very reasonable considering the high quality snacks and coffee products. Keep doing what you’re doing Madman!

Coffee here is really good. Almond milk is sweetened. Props to being a part of CUPS and opening on a Sunday.

Awesome crafted espresso drinks here. Non dairy milk options– almond or soy. Pretty standard in NYC to have those 2 options. I tried an almond latte and it was great. Strong espresso without being too bitter. You can taste the quality of the espresso which is not hidden by obscene amounts of sugar or unnecessary flavors. Cute store with an upstairs area for extra seating! Simple pastries like croissants offered to be served with your beverage. Barista seemed experienced as he churned up my latte, complete with latte art, in a timely manner. There are a plethora of cafes in NYC with great coffee and sometimes it can be hard to differentiate. I would say Madman espresso would be one of the better ones for sure though. I would definitely come back to this store if I was passing by or in the area. If I saw another madman espresso location I would also trust it for a good cuppa. Also– CUPS app accepted here!

Madman Espresso NY Manhattan Hells Kitchen 12pm Friday 31st October 2015 Three Stars Most of the Madman Coffee are pretty amazing. This one was just okay. The place is very small with a single large table for seating. There were boxes everywhere behind the counter. They did not have any drip coffee but he offered to make me a pour over instead. I accepted and it was pretty tasty and caffeinated.

Yum. I literally just had a Mocha coffee double espresso with almond milk. Delicious! I used the CUPS app and got it for free, yaaay — use the coupon code«F V V 5 X» to also get free coffee and a $ 10 credit. Food: Since I had the credit, I went ahead and indulged in one of their many many varieties of baked goods: chocolate brownies, blondies, chocolate chip cookie dough brownies, smore brownie, chai ginger cookies, lots of gluten free coolies, sour cream walnut coffee cakes, and of course a variety of croissants. I wanted to go for the chocolate chip cookie dough brownie, but the barista suggested the smore… I should have went with my instinct, the smore brownie wasn’t that good at all. I love chocolate and I no matter how much mocha my coffee has more chocolate is never a bad thing, lol. I sorta wanna give them a 3 b/c I didn’t like the brownie, but no worries. Brownies are $ 3.50 btw. All the baked goods are between $ 2.50 — $ 3.50 I believe.(don’t quote me though). Space: It’s a small space, but super cute. 1 big table and 1 small desk near the window(for one person). I think only about 6 – 8 people could be working in here at once Overall — I’m so glad I discovered this little gem(a midtown /garment district /hells kitchen gem).

I’ve been going to Madman quite a bit lately — love their cold brew coffee as well as their Iced Tea du jour. It’s a quiet café off the beaten path where you’re likely to be left alone to your work(with the occasional interview taking place in the background). Definitely try their pastries and donuts too!

Madman is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. They’ve got good coffee, plus pastries, including huge doughnuts from Dough. Fabiano[1] was friendly and got me just what I needed, a flat white in a glass, the way it was menat to be served. Madman takes credit cards, and they offer a frequent buyer’s benefit — or should I say frequent drinker benefit? Want to knock out some email or finish light work? There’s decent Wi-Fi and seating available(two floors). There’s no restroom, but that’s common for a lot of small spots. Yes, there’s another Madman a mere two blocks away but it’s so close to Penn Station there’s enough folks to keep both locations busy. [1] Hope I spelled that right…

Another wonderful and nearby addition of my favorite café in the neighborhood! Although this one is tucked away on a less populated street, it’s much more spacious than the popular location on 35th between 7th&8th. This location is the same deal as all the other locations with their list of drinks as well as one of each popular doughnut from Dough, a tray full of croissants, and gluten free cookies. All goodies disappear by lunch time so make sure to grab them as early as you can! Plus, it’s guaranteed to be more fresh that way. The décor is a bit lacking compared to the 35th’s street location and their awesome paintings, but a big added plus is the second floor seating! Since this location is a bit farther from the trains as well, it’s less crowded and quiet making it perfect for working, reading, coffee dates or hanging out with friends. Almost forgot to mention but Madman is not messing around. The espresso is ALWAYS bold, strong and delicious, I am never disappointed.
