I’m going to have to take issue with the review below, which was glowing but only 3-​starred this place. Perhaps I am overly liberal with my stars, but this place definitely merits 4 stars, if for no other reason than that its offerings are (1) delectable, (2) reasonably priced, and (3) have a very clean, fresh taste.
It’s hard to find a deli in East Midtown where you can get just about any sandwich you want, and Madeline’s offers precisely that. You can get a great sandwich full of fresh ingredients (Cajun chicken with avocado is my favorite) for $ 6. The people who work here are really nice, and the delivery is always great.
Def. a great bet if you’re in the area.

Madeline’s is a clean, inventive breath of fresh air in the deli wasteland of midtown Manhattan. If you work anywhere near East 56th are sick of the «dime a dozen» dirty, delis that haunt your lunch break, its well worth your visit. I recommend the grilled chicken, roasted pepper and arugula sandwich, with vinegar… but everything looks tasty. Prices are reasonable too.
