We ordered Shabbu Shabbu bbq broth hot and mild. For non-english speakers, just check everything. Seriously. Shockingly everything will cook in the tasty broth and become delicious. Hot was insanely hot. I can handle my heat but my friends threw in all their dried red chilis from the mild into the hot side. I recommend taking out all of the dried peppers as soon as you receive the broth or else your butt hole will hurt the next day. **Tips for enjoying M Tasty** Get everything Fish balls Beef, chicken, pork, lamb, fish Dumplings, taro, crab, watercress Seaweed Help yourself to unlimited drinks: sodas, grass jelly, and water Bring CASH& come hungry Oh, this place is tiny so keep your entourage small

$ 25 for an all you can eat hot pot in the dirty grimey section of Chinatown. Yummy!!! Of course it’s always the grimiest places that are the best. They have pretty much everything ranging from fatty pork, lamp, fish, tripe, to 3 different types of mushroom and various veggies. Come starving because there’s a time limit of 2 hours to consume all your stomach can allow to be worth it. Rule of thumb is to be able to order the entire menu twice within the 2 hour limit for it to be worth the $ 25. Drinks come complimentary — they have beer, water, soda and herbal jelly drink. I love their herbal jelly drink! Beware of using their bathrooms — definitely not something I would do. If I’m too lazy to do my own hot pot at home I wouldn’t mind coming here with a small group of friends(like max 4). I do expect to come back here in the future. Oh and don’t worry about the B Grade — it just makes everything that much tastier. ~happy eatings!

I want to say the service here is super — like I can’t believe they’re Chinese and they’re super duper nice. SHOCKER! E and I came here for an impromptu dinner and I want to say I still like Quickly’s Hot Pot better. Only because I like the whole condiment buffet spread they had there and this place offers only certain sauces. E and I did not even know they would give you cilantro, garlic or scallions if you asked them. We were dipping our grub into some sad little sauces with just vinegar and barbeque sauce. This place is really cold — I don’t think they have good heating here. E was so set on getting the fish, since E thought the fish looked beautiful — I thought that was crazy. We got medium spicy and chicken noodle. We got the following items: Fish — I am not into boiling my fish, so I didn’t care for it. E was a bit scared too. Watercress — good Corn — me loves corn Shrimp — forgot about them and overcooked them. Crab — umm, not my thing. But then again, forgot about them and overcooked it. Mushrooms — love the tiny brown ones Enoki — I am over these, but E loves them. Bok Choy — really enjoyed these Crystal Noodles — I think these were like Jap-Chae noodles. Love these. Streaky Pork — we were scared, since we did not know what Streaky means, but it is basically really fat cut of pork. Good. E thought they tasted like bacon. Beef — Yums. Napa Cabbage — these are really good too. It is now $ 23 dollars per person and they charge you 75 cents per an egg. I have to have my egg, so an extra $ 1.50. It is cash only — whoops. So E had to run out to go and get cash. I like the service and definitely a wonderful surprise. Thank god, they move this girl away from us, because we were totally turned off by her putting her propping her feet with her dirty shoes on the bench. Like seriously, we’re not in Asia — have some damn manners. That’s just gross.

Hot Pot All-You-Can-Eat for $ 23 per person in Manhattan. Need I say more? This means no more trekking to Jersey, Queens, or Brooklyn for cheap hot pot buffets. What a relief this is when it’s so cold outside your face feels numb and every second on the public transportation gets more and more agonizing the further you go away from your toasty apartment. Sure, it might not be as good as the ones further out but for this price it’s deserving of 4-stars in my opinion. That price includes unlimited drinks. including their grass jelly ones. You can balance the yang of the hot pot with the yin of the grass jelly drink if you care to follow yin yang properties of food.

I can’t really add anything new that hasn’t been mentioned before. It’s quite affordable at around $ 26−27pp after tip(though it feels funny to tip when the meal is largely self serve). Regardless, it’s important to tip at all service establishments as it is common courtesy and also a relied upon source of income for many folks. I digress. There is an easy to understand paper checklist menu where you specify broth type, heat, and a hodgepodge of meats and vegetables to choose from. What I like about this small little spot is that they nail down the concept perfectly. Tables fit up to 6 perfectly and it looks like there could be a bit of a wait at certain hours – however, when you are sat, you feel no rush to leave and finish asap. The staff do not skimp out on portions and are attentive to the broth levels, refilling at the right times. There is also a refrigerator where you can serve yourself a variety of canned sodas, water, and tea. I must’ve drank at least 6 things out of here alone. The quality of the meats and vegetables are perfectly fine and everything tasted quite good. No complaints. Come and indulge while it’s cold out. If you’re feeling ambitious, Prosperity Dumpling, Vanessa’s and Shu Jiao Fu Zhou are nearby too. Fatties unite!

M Tasty has an AYCE(All You Can Eat) Hotpot style dining for 2 hours with no limit on cold canned soda or bottled water(trust me you’ll need this if you go overboard on the spice) for $ 23 a head and CASH only. It’s a hole in the wall, but that’s why you gotta bring a group of friends to make it all the better. We ate here in anticipation of this awesome special raved about«hotpot buffet» by just about every Unilocaler who visited. We came as a big group of friends, actually more than 10 and we couldn’t be seated in one big table since not everyone made it for the stated meet up time. So we were split up, opposing ends of the restaurant, that’s fine. This type of food is great when it’s cold outside. You just get warmed up from the hot broth(in temperature and spiciness). When you sit down, they give you an order pad with all the types of tasty ingredients that will be cooked in the hotpot. Well, we had just about everything, thrice over. From lamb, sliced pork, beef tendon, blue crab, shrimp, tilapia, and a plethora of veggies like mushrooms, taro, watercress, white radish, corn, baby corn etc. The list goes on and on. We got 2 kinds of broth(one is the mild one, which is not spicy at all) and the second was medium spice(which was really really hot, be careful with this one) that has a lot of chili oils and red spicy peppers. I have a high spice tolerance and this was really hot in my opinion. When you’ve had bowls of the ingredients and the broth is running low in the pot, the waitresses will come around and filler up! I fortunately came here with some folks that could communicate to the waitresses in the native tongue, so I feel that might have helped things along with the speedy service. I’d definitely come back, the food is very tasty as it’s in their business name. They live up to their name. Everything looked and tasted fresh to me based on things we ordered. I came away from this place happy, full, and still had $ in my wallet for the rest of the night.

FYI: AYCE Chinese Hot Pot($ 23 including non-alcoholic beverages/person) Basically this place is a hole in the wall with a new name(Hou Yi), so look for the address. It’s still the same place. And when I say hole-in-the-wall, I mean it. The tables fold up, they can be pretty flimsy, but hey, they get the job done. there’s not much to look at either, that’s what you’re multitude of friends are there for! The Food(we choose the hot pot option(they also have noodle soups)): We ordered everything on the menu… because why not(it’s AYCE). They give you generous portion(why wouldn’t they) My fav is the combo broth(we did mild spicy, which was plenty delicious) Personally, I’m not a fan of boiled pork belly(there was a LOT of fat), but pretty much everything else was delicious. Loved the blue crab The shrimp was so-so, it’s boiled shrimp(head on) loved the mushrooms(we got wood ear and enoki) loved the corn(sweet and cooked to perfection) loved the watercress and napa cabbage didn’t care for the potato Egg dumplings were good Tripe was delicious This is a great place to get your fill of hot pot.

If you are very hungry and enjoy hot pots, buffets, Chinese food and a family style dining experience, M Tasty is definitely a place to check out. My first time here was my first time having hot pot actually, but I am now a convert and fan of the whole hot pot experience. At M Tasty, pay only $ 23(per person) to indulge in a Chinese hot pot buffet plus limitless beverages for 2 hours. If this doesn’t sound convincing enough for you, then I don’t know what will be. The selection of food is awesome, but you might find the list intimidating at first. It really is not that bad at all, and there is no reason to get intimidated especially if you don’t understand/speak Chinese. They provide you a list where you can point out what you would like, and you can keep ordering food from this list as much as you want within the 2 hour limit. You can choose items like beef, chicken, pork, fish, shrimp, lamb, seaweed, mushrooms, fish balls, tripe, watercress, daikon, tofu, etc. I must also add that most of the ingredients are fresh. You really cannot go wrong with your selections, but even if you think you did, just don’t order it for the second round(and trust me, you’ll go through at least 3 rounds of hot pot here). You can select from a mild or spicy broth. My guests and I went with half mild/half medium spicy broth. I must warn you that medium spicy is SPICY. If that is considered a mid-range, I have no idea how the very spicy one is. I love hot food though, so if you like it hot, then definitely go for medium spicy. Throw in all the ingredients that you ordered into the broth and have this awesome medley to share with your friends. The few drawbacks with M Tasty is mainly the size of their venue and the wait times. It’s a no frills kind of place, so service can also be an average experience especially for those who are unfamiliar with this type of dining. The place is also very small, but it is meant for larger groups. Unfortunately, they cannot accommodate more than their space or tables allow. There are about only 5 – 6 tables at most. They may run out of seats and some people may have to sit on a stool. If you come with 12 people, they may have to separate you on separate tables or seat you at different times which can be inconvenient. You cannot reserve, however, so make sure you aren’t starving to death because the wait can be as long as an hour or even more. Otherwise, the wait is worth it in the end because once those 2 hours of endless gluttony are over, expect to walk out of here very stuffed, happy, and satisfied.

So — Ok first of all i don’t think it’s called M Tasty anymore… they had a different awning — maybe just under new management — but the unlimited hotpot still applies. You come here for hot pot on a cold day. It was AWESOME. The whole setting being, pretty cold outside, coming into a nice warm and a little steamy restaurant and smiling as you see your friends sitting down waving you over. You sit down and, while you can order anything you want, you go for the unlimited hot pot. That’s what we went for and at $ 22.95 it’s not a bad deal especially from the offerings of food they had. Pork Belly, Lamb, Beef slices, tripe, mushrooms(enoki and shitaki) fish balls(FJ ones and standard), daikon, watercress, napa cabbage, shrimp, blue crab, noodles of several different type, «wood ear» fungi, seaweed, and soooooo much more. I mean their list of stuff to go into the hot pot was pretty extensive. Anyway so you order the hotpot and they give you a list of everything you can toss into it — select the broth and you’re good. One side we had non-spicy soup and the other was medium-spicy. The medium spicy was pretty intense and got me scared wondering b/c i was considering the Very Hot. Haha. Service was good — whenever we asked for something we got it pretty quickly. Like more pork, or beef, or anything else. They even let us hang around later than our 2 hour time limit. So we had a group of 12 — but had to split the table in to two groups of 6 — which was fine, but there was limited seating in the restaurant. It was pretty awesome! Oh last thing — Cash only. Not a problem — in a group it’s easier to do cash — instead of credit cards anyway.

We came here to hang out with old friends and new. It was a huge party of 12 people, the first group arrived on time and were seated and the second group arrived 20 minutes later and waited 20 more minutes. This was a great find, all you can eat hot pot with unlimited soda and water. I just wished they had packed the fridge with milk. Half of the pot was clear liquid the other half was medium spicy. After about 40 minutes of eating in our group a few of us were finding it very spicy, the server saw that it was too hot and came by with a canister of broth to dilute the spiciness of that side of the pot down. It’s 23 dollars and you can sit and eat for 2 hours. The location is small so parties of 4 – 6 people are optimal. We saw some folks bring in their own wine and the restaurant gave them styrofoam cups so that’s a nice BYO rule that’s not on the menu. Cool hang out place for a cold night in NY. We walked out full, satisfied, enjoyed the company, and a few of us were breathing fire.

All you can eat for two hours, 23 dollar/person. Décor: Hole in wall that changes name frequently. Hou Yi is the name. Fold-able movable fake wooden tables. Listen lady, you didn’t come here for the décor. Food: You get a check list to select what you desire. We checked EVERYTHING on that list. Generous portions: plates upon plates of pork belly, shiitake mushrooms, wood ear fungi, seaweed, watercress, lamb, beef, fish balls, and shrimp. The pork belly was 99% fat. Good or bad– you decide. Unlimited drinks: Fanta, Coke, Chrysanthemum grass jelly tea. Highlights= Szechuan style hot pot– which you should definitely order one spice level down. We ordered spicy and the waitress asked if we were sure. We got medium spicy and it was HOT! Tea was cooling with chunks of grass jelly. It really helped the spice factor! Service: The waitresses were quick and polite. They constantly checked on us to replenish the raw food supply. They let us stay a little over the 2 hour limit and didn’t rush us out. No dirty looks or glares.

I haven’t tried their Hot Pot Buffet but Hou Yi’s noodle soups are medelies of heavenly goodness during cold blistering winters. They have stinky tofu noodle soup which is SOGOOD! I got the Fish and Stinky Tofu soup and it was really amazing. You can pick your level of spicyness and trust me — medium spice is actually blow your mind spicy. They have a really great home made sweat tea drinks which is a great combination for cooling down the spice. My other favorite thing about this noodle soup is that there’s a whole bunch of different yummy accessories in there — from seaweed, cabbage, mushrooms of different varieties, fried tofu, regular tofu, stinky tofu, lots of fish, noodles were the yummy clear kind. It was only 8 $! Can’t be beat. The only thing that I don’t like is that they kept the door open when deliveries were made and it made the place really cold. Also they could spruce up the place a bit and clean it a little more which would bump this review up to a 5 star.

All you can eat hotpot! Perfect for the cold weather. They also have individual single sized bowls of noodles. Décor: Its pretty make shift, with fold out tables and chairs. They use a combination of portable induction and gas stoves depending on if your table is close to an outlet or not. Service: Quick, to the point, friendly, english is so-so. Food: All you can eat hotpot — 2 hour limit(20 $) The menu is also the ordering pad, you check off the meats/veggies/seafood that you want and also the soup base you prefer. If you like spicy this is the place for you. Even the«Mild» is painful to eat. Paul H.‘s solution: take out the glowing red chilies soon after the pot is setup at your table. All the meats and vegetables were very fresh, no complaints, the broth is delicious. you get a standard selection of dipping sauces: Peanut, sesame, siracha, bbq satay sauce, soy. Drinks are in the fridge in front and are included with the meal. Beer(Tsing Tao) can be ordered for an additional $ 3 each Make sure you’ve been fasting for the day before you come to get your moneys worth!

A fellow helper recommended this place to me, and within a week, I ate at this place three times. So like I said earlier at BaiDu, hotpot spots really need to stand out in order to make it and justify not boiling this up at home. Well, $ 20AYCE and drink is simply too hard to beat. Their combo soup is the way to go, because trying any of their spicy broth is just too ambitious. Trust me on this one. Go on a super empty stomach, and eat to your heart’s delight. Overall: 4.5÷5 for a fantastic deal and amazing way to spend two hours with your buddies.

Décor: 3⁄5 –don’t have high expectations for the décor –there is seating for approx 30 – 40 people Service: 2⁄5 –Ask and they will get you the dish fast. They were also friendly too even though their English isn’t great. –Drinks are self serve and unlimited! –I’ve been here four times and service has slowly degraded Food: 2.5÷5 –Their grass jelly drink was delicious bc it wasn’t too sweet –The ordering process was simple. You just mark what you want on a card, starting with the broth type. –WARNING: those that think they can handle very spicy, beware. Their hot spicy broth is extremely spicy. Three of my party claimed handle extreme spicy but ended up bailing out and moving onto the mild broth. Yes, it is THAT spicy. It is so spicy that it lingers. –Next is your choice of meat. We basically checked all the meats. It comes out thinly sliced and neat. My favorite was the beef, lamb, mushroom and taro. The chicken was okay and the blue crab had very little eggs. –I recommend the BBQ sauce over all the other sauces. –Unfortunately I can not give M Tasty a full five stars bc I did not get the umami«ahhh» experience. No worries, it is well worth $ 20. The quality of meats has slowly gone downhill over the past four visits. I won’t be coming back for a while.

Hot pot is Chinese comfort food during cold weathers. The restaurant is quite small so be expected to wait about 30 minutes on the weekend. The wait is definitely worth it though because nothing beats $ 20 a person all-you-can-eat hot pot + beverages and no tax kind of deal! Their meat is pretty good but I would not recommend the pork because it is basically pork belly. But then again, if you dont mind the fat, pork belly is good for you ;) The lamb and beef are very good here. We did order a medium spicy but it turned out to be VERY spicy because I am a spice expert and even I was sweating like crazy. So I would recommend getting mild to start. The service could be a little sporadic because it gets busy and the waitresses here are not the most trained as I could imagine. However, with that price, you can’t really be too picky.

Immediately after eating at this place(perhaps I ate too much), I felt nauseous and almost left $ 20 worth of food on the sidewalk on Grand St. And then the next day I ran a 102.6 fever. Coincidence? Maybe. They do have a B rating… but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Let me warn you, the spicy levels of this place… are ridiculously spicy!!! We originally ordered the highest level of spicy, but toned down to «medium» after the waitress warned us that it was super spicy. Well, «medium» spicy was like, my version of «super duper spicy». I LOVE spicy food, don’t get me wrong, but this was painful. I’d go with the lowest level of spicy broth if you want to survive the next day. Now for the variety of food, there’s not nearly as many choices as the other AYCE hot pot places I’ve been to in my lifetime, but it works. My favorite was the fish. The blue crab — not so much — hardly any meat. The lamb and beef was fresh. You can’t ever go wrong with vegetables. What I always wonder is how they decide how much of something to give you — they skimped out on certain things but gave you wayyy too much of others(i.e. we got a huge plate of beef tripe, most of which I was unable to finish, and then 2 fish balls). All you can drink — non-alcoholic… but I preferred water since all the carbonated drinks was making the burn in my mouth 20 times worse. I also have to point out that the waitresses were nice. But… I think I’ll explore other places.

HOLYCOW! All you can eat hot pot/shabu shabu for 20 bux(not including tip/tax) Fresh-ER beef! Fresh shrimp! Blue CRAB! Attentive staff! Get endless bottled beverage(no beer/alcohol) and even some of that home made sweet herbal drink(to combat spiciness). The 2 Fantas and water we drank were not expired BTW, yes I LOOKED — rare in AYCE joints. There are only about 7 tables available in the joint, there maybe a wait so get there early. They use a check what you want on paper system initially. As the meal goes on you just request verbally. Yes, they speak English and worst case scenario just point to what you want on the paper menu. They had AC and a fan on but I was still sweating crazy and my thighs stuck to the chair. It’s bound to happen with 7 rolling boil hot pots going around. After a hearty meal, had to roll my fat ass out of there. Can’t wait to do it again.

The«ma la tang» is seriously a big deal here. So many meat in it instead of just noodles. I really like fried stinky tofu, and I totally forgot to ask the waitress how are they gonna cook the stinky tofu. It’s steamed!!! YIKES!!! and so many pieces of it. I just took 3 of it and I can’t finish it all. I ordered the beef noodles and friend ordered the seafood one. I had my one mild because I don’t wanna burn my lips. If you really love spicy you can just go ahead for the medium one. I wanna be able to taste my food. Small little pot but so many ingredients. I am literally bloated after that. 19.95 for all you can eat hot pot. Well, I will not recommend this unless you really can eat 2 huge plates of meat. The«ma la tang’ was actually just a good portion for one person for less than 10 dollars. OMG. I smell like stinky tofu after that.

M Tasty was indeed tasty, and a great value. Stopped in late(towards closing time) on Saturday night and service was fast and efficient. Although the AYCE Hot Pot sounded enticing, my bf and I opted for the«ma la tang» — which means spicy broth served with your choice of noodles(vermicelli, glass noodles, ramen noodles, and I believe instant noodles) w/a big selection of add-ons that you would usually find at hot pot restaurants(beef, tripe, beef balls, seafood, etc). Two things to note: — The glass noodles here are thicker than what you would expect. I like it, but my bf prefers the thin kind — All selections come with vegetables, rice cakes, bean curd skin, tofu, seaweed by default Also need to point out that portions are VERY generous for the price(most selections are in the $ 7-$ 9 range. The spiciness levels here: not spicy, mild, medium, spicy which is actually very misleading. Waitress informed us that medium is actually already very spicy, so we opted for mild… and we agree, this was spicy enough. Overall, we would go back because it was delicious, price was good, and service was decent. Location is pretty good too, and they open late enough. I’d come here if I was craving hot pot in the city.
