I came on Tuesday night for take out, the service was pretty fast and food was good. Very good portion size. I would recommend Chile Colorado.

Our burritos were incredible. I haven’t had a burrito that tasty in NYC in awhile. The ambiance was comfy casual. My only complaint is the service was a little slow, but I would still return any time!!!

Not fancy but clean and quick service. The food was awesome. We stumbled upon this place after trying to get lunch at 2 other fancier restaurants nearby that were packed. There was a steady flow of people coming in lots of deliveries going out and lots of clean plates. The chicken mole enchalada was really yummy and totally satisfying.

I had the chicken super quisadillas and it was great. It had a delicious tomitilla sauce on it that I couldn’t get enough of. Also had a nice coffee.

I love these type of small places with a homey atmosphere, and decent prices. Unfortunately, the food was not fresh, and I was ill after the meal. :(

Great little diner like Mexican restaurant across from our hotel. Coming from Texas, I know my salsas… this one was very mild but very fresh. Ordered the scrambled egg burrito with salsa verde. It was a tasty, filling meal! Recommend this little spot for a quick, inexpensive bite.

I lived most of my life in California, and have loved Mexican food all my life. One of my favorite things I used to eat were Chili Relleno burritos. There used to be a restaurant on the upper west side called La Cocina that made a huge and respectable one, but they are sadly gone. I have been hoping to find another place that makes these and was happy to find that Lupe’s does. I came here tonight, excited to have my old favorite. Sadly, it was a less than stellar representation of the dish. First, though, I sat at my table a good 5 minutes or more with my menu down before being given water or asked if I wanted a drink, There were only 4 tables of people. I asked what exactly was in the chili relleno burrito and the waiter told me the chili, beans, rice and salad. I asked«The salad and rice are in the burrito?». He said yes. I thought it a bit odd, but decided to go for it. He even repeated the order back to me. I ordered sangria and a side of guac as well. A few minutes later, out came a platter of chili rellenos. I reminded him that I had ordered the burrito. He looked confused and didn’t know what to do. The manager came over and said he’d bring it back as a burrito. The waiter never apologized. We had discussed the burrito at length! How could he have messed that up? They brought out the burrito in a few minutes, and, sadly, it wasn’t very good. Though edible, it tasted like a general Mexican flavored dish with no specific flavors coming through. The cheese could only be described as flavorless white cheese whiz. The chili lacked any of the fresh, vegetal flavor of a freshly roasted chili and there was no sign of batter on it. All that was in the burrito besides the chili was beans. The salad and rice were on the side. The sauces and guac were fine and the sangria was pretty good, but overall, I was pretty disappointed. I sat there for probably 10 minutes with my finished plate, waiting for someone to clear it and for me to ask for the check, but no one came and I had to flag the waiter down. So both food and service left a lot to be desired. I guess the search for a good chili relleno burrito continues.

Had the Chicken Super Burrito — was not super. Also requested no sour cream, they did not comply. I feel sick :(

I’m from the south, where you find Mexican restaurants on ever corner. With that being said, I was very curious in the comparison of Mexican in NY vs. Texas. The guacamole wasn’t bad… It wasn’t table side(freshly made in front of you, avocado, tomatoes, cilantro, onion, lime, spices, etc.) but it really wasn’t bad. I like how they added a twist to it by adding salsa verda to it. Their salsa was different than what I’m use to, but again, it wasn’t bad. For the main course I got spinach, chicken and cheese enchiladas. The beans and rice were good, comparable to the south and the sauce on the enchilada had some kick to it! My only complaint for the meal was that my spinach was chewy. I did order a margarita, it was a premix which I was disappointed by, but again I was in NY. Even adding a floater(an extra shot of tequila) it was still pretty sweet and not strong at all. Would I eat here again, most definitely! But I would skip the margarita. :)

I really wanted to like Lupe’s, but nothing about this place really stood out for me. We went to this restaurant on a Sunday night. Even though only three tables in the entire restaurant were filled, no one came and took our order for a long time. We ordered a margarita, the guacamole, a shrimp quesadilla, and the chicken enchiladas. The margarita was very weak which was unfortunate. The guacamole was also standard and fairly lackluster — the lettuce under it kept getting tangled in it which I did not enjoy. The shrimp quesadillas were the best thing I ordered. The red sauce drizzled on top was flavorful and the cheese inside was quite good. The rice and beans were fair sides. The enchiladas unfortunately also fell flat. We asked for them in red sauce and what we got was, what appeared to me to be, brown sauce. The chicken was alright but this dish was underwhelming. We had to wrap the leftover food ourselves to go and two different people brought us the check, which is another testament to the disorganized service. Also, $ 50 for casual food like this seemed overpriced. All in all, there was nothing about this place that was terrible, but it also did not meet my expectations. I will say that it looks much more fun in the summer when they set up tables outside.

Average, somewhat dry tacos. Had to dump a ton of sauce on to add flavor. Not bad though. Fills the void of being cheap(for NYC), open late and across the street from Hampton Inn… where I happen to be staying tonight.

While working in NY, I used to go to this place quite regularly. The burritos here, for me, are some of the best I’ve had in the US(that includes Mexican restaurants I’ve tried on the west coast too). The ingredients were fresh and the staff friendly. The restaurant is pretty basic and small, they do have a restroom that customers can use.

What a great find. Super casual place, even a bit of a dive, but some great food! The staff was friendly and attentive. The margarita delicious. I highly recommend the spinach and cheese enchiladas.

Hier passt alles, Sehr leckeres Essen, mal wirklich richtig typisch Mexikanisch. Klasse Getränke zu Vernünftigen Preisen. Es gibt auch wenige außen Plätze, diese sind immer sofort wieder belegt wenn einer frei wird. Wir gehen wieder hin!

Glad this place exists here, in this desert of chi-chi cafes and tony wine bars a Mexican diner is a sight for parched eyes. That said, the service was slow if friendly, the burrito was on the bland side, and there was no homemade salsa only bottled. If I was in Bushwick or Ridgewood I would be stunned, in Soho however I am still pretty appreciative of the spot. The ambiance is laid back. There are cute outdoor tables that are overlooked by big bay windows festooned with neon behind which classic diner tables give the joint a vintage multicolor Christmas lights and ceiling fans kind of vibe. And it’s cheap! Really cheap! $ 11 burritos and $ 8 drinks cheap.(Again let’s not talk about Brooklyn /Queens here, Manhattan real estate is way pricey and a $ 11 meal is heaven sent.) It’s not perfect but it’s pretty damn good.

a solid, filling meal. guacamole is good but not spicy, which is not how i like my guacamole. service was nice, they pretty much leave you alone but they still check on you, just not annoyingly so. i got the enchilada, which came with guacamole & chicken amongst other things, and with a salsa on the side. amazing! there’s sidewalk seating, which is great on a nice day for people watching lol. an authentic eat, and a casual environment. i’d recommend!

I’m not a specialist of Mexican food but I find that this one is very good. You can take to go also, and they deliver. This place is not very expensive compare to a lot of Mexican restaurant(cheaper than Chipotle for better) The service is pretty quick. The average price is around $ 10 for one meal. If you are in this area and want to try something better than Chipotle I recommend it. I bring my family from France here and they liked it too

Awesome Food and super sweet Restaurant. :D). Besonders empfehlenswert: Nachos mit!! selbstgemachtem! Salsa Dip und Guacamole! :)

My review may be a star short given that I’m from San Diego and eat great Mexican food a lot. 1. The chili relleno burrito had too many beans; they make the flavor of the chilis. 2. The fish taco tasted very fishy, possibly a sign the fish was not fresh. 3. The sangria was served in a small wine glass filled more than half with ice and diced for leaving room for very little beverage. 4. Chips were bland, borderline stale. 5. Salsa was pretty good. Flavorful. 6. Service was ok.

Friend recommended it and I was not disappointed. Friendly corner Mexican place has the feel of a small family restaurant. I ordered the beef enchiladas Coloradans(10.95) and found it wasn’t spicy at all. The beef was well shredded but still in tangible clumps and quite flavorful. The chili sauce was well balanced with the rice underneath and the onions and sour cream expanded the flavor pallet beautifully. I had a good experience and felt the bill was a bargain and quite affordable.

This isn’t really authentic Mexican food. That’s okay, but it was disappointing. Inattentive service(lunch). Expired table condiments. Strange pieces of junk in tortilla chips. Never. Coming. Back.
