I almost don’t want to review this place(and keep it my own little secret), but it is a hidden gem in the East Village. If you appreciate good beer or want to learn more about it, this is the place to be. I went with a group and had the Duchess on tap(which I highly recommend), which was one of the best and most accessible sour beers I had. The next time I came back, the bartender gave an even better(and honest) recommendation, listened to my feedback, and recommended great beers to my friends, given their preferences. Without a doubt, I will certainly be back for more. 5 stars, hands down!

Highly recommend Lions Beer Store! Very knowledgable and friendly staff who made spot on beer and food recommendations. Live music. Great atmosphere. And the owner, Sakis, was gracious and welcoming. I will be back and will bring lots of friends.

Upon entering the atmosphere of this restaurant was so quaint. With their glass doors letting in some light, the store had a very nice ambiance with the setup of the lights. A very very creative way of placement with a similarity to a motherboard. This setup was super interesting. The first beer just came out and wow am I impressed. Ordered a Veltins Pilsner and I cannot stop raving about it! It’s so crisp with a nice subtle after taste. Phenomenal! Ok… Alls done and done and now I have to say… I haven’t been this impressed with a restaurant in ages. If I had to drop the ratings of all my other ratings so that you guys know how good this place is then I will. 100⁄100 please come here it’s phenomenal. I’ll attach food pictures of what I ordered but nothing justifies coming here… The ambiance is too well paired with the foods! –update– still delicious…

Great atmosphere and unique beer selection. We ordered burgers medium and they came out extra rare, however, our server Jon was super understanding and comp’d us both beers and extra burgers. Would diner + drink again!

Great food, drinks, music, décor and overall vibe! I visited the place Saturday, January 30 while hanging with friends, who met the owners earlier that night. We spent time with the owners(a married couple) and they shared the story of the place with me. Most, if not everything, in the space was handmade in Greece(the husband Sakis is Greek). It was all then safely packaged and brought to the United States where shortly thereafter Greek artists came over and installed everything. You can’t beat that kind of authenticity(And it shows!). They are wonderful hosts, with a very attentive staff and they have taken food that is generally regarded as simple to new heights(bar food never tasted this good!). The Greek meatballs were delicious. I tried the mac and cheese also and it was rich with flavor. There’s a DJ playing some great tunes while people dine and drink. It’s a great edition to the East Village.

This is been my second visit to this beautiful craft beer bar and restaurant… this is my new go-to place to hang out with friends! The staff are super helpful and very knowledgeable. The food is excellent and the menu is very imaginative. I shared the sausage platter with my husband. There are three different types of sausages and the lamb one is awesome! We also had the carrot tots and they were so delicious we were fighting over them… Imagine shredded potatoes mixed with shredded carrots… mmmm… We were there on a Friday night and the following week on a Saturday they had a really great DJ who played a mix of all types of music from the 80s to current times. The beer is on average about $ 12 a glass/bottle. The thing I like best about this place is that I felt so welcomed and really like I was with friends. This bar has only been opened about 2 months and I wish them the best of luck!

Really fun spot with a group, or even an date night. Huge selection of beers. Each beer came in the unique glass of that brand. Service was fantastic along with the food. Will definitely be coming back.

A huge menu of beers and a helpful staff. This place is large, open and fairly casual making it easy to converse without the need to yell. Overall, a great place to grab a beer if you’re looking for a lot of choice and not a sports bar.

It’s only been open for a couple of months but seems to be hitting its stride! Great décor and a warm and welcoming staff who guide you through some 340 beer choices. Have only got as far as the appetizers so far, but hey were unique and deliciously appropriate for beers! Say hi to the ever smiling Sakis(the owner) who patrols the tables gracefully ensuring that his customers are satisfied and happy!

I love this place. i wasnt really a beer drinker till I came here. The atmosphere is simple but nice. Wooden conuter tops and German stiens on the wall. The lighting is dim but pleasant so it doesnt have that seedy feel of most bars. The staff is great. Just a great group of guys and gals there to help you find a beer and have a good time. The beer list is long and strong. My friend who is more of a beer guy than me said he liked not only the list but the fact that they had beers on tap that you usually only find in bottles. The lamb sausages are a must if you are there.

Came in last Saturday with a small group that got big over time. Such a cool place. I walked by not knowing what the heck this place was. My girls and I thought it was like the grocery store beer joint at ‘Whole Foods’…hahahaha. Anyhoo. Walked in, super pretty place. It was like the Willy Wonka tasting room of beer. So colorful on the shelves. We usually drink draft but it was nice to look at. Felt like the place really knew their stuff. We wanted to talk so we stepped up to the bar. David, our bartender was super cute, friendly and funny and quickly got us where we wanted to be with our drinks. He told us how the new chef was from Texas and and that he really knows his stuff and steered us towards the comfort food– mac n cheese and a blue cheese burger and a pita. Will def head to back to see him and the beerstore again. Wish they were open later. :-)

Lion’s beer store, another entry in the beer store /bar venues in the city pulls this dynamic off pretty well. Focusing mostly on Belgian and Belgian style beer, including most of the trappists, the selection here is awesome. The draft list is a page long with a great mix of European and US craft beer. Service was a bit off as even though I sat directly in front of the bartender at the bar, I was essentially ignored while he played with his phone. I had to ask twice for the beer and check. The beer was excellent though, and with the huge draft and extensive bottle selection, if you can’t find a beer you like here, you won’t find one anywhere.

I got to know the Lions Beer Store because of my friend who invited me for the beer party which hold in this place. It wasn’t near the city center, but located it the local popular hang out area. Which there are a lot cool restaurants and clubs around. I don’t think I will discover this place on my own, really gald was be able to join the beer event. The place was just great for beer. I had great time there. It got a really good atmosphere, the staff was nice, they also offered quite a lot option of beers. And some of them I haven’t even heard about. Which it was cool to try something new. Of course, they also had many famous beers. I was also quite surprised they also offed food. Although it was mainly just snacks, deserts ams sandwiches. It was a bit pity I didn’t try them, got my dinner plan already back then. Well, I saw some other people ordered it. It looked great. Beside no one should drink beer with the empty stomach. The place is quite nice as well, got some interesting stuff around. If you thinking to get here by subway, It actually need few minutes walk. It might take some time to find it as well. So just look carefully. I like this place, it’s great place to hang out with friends for beers.

Just went for brunch on New Year’s Day, the perfect comfort food for a post New Year’s Eve head. And the Jo Mama’s Milk Craft went perfectly. A stout with coffee and cream overtones. We sampled the sweet potato and chorizo hash, the LBS Chicken Bowl, which was super rich and delicious, the Spicey head on shrimp with homemade chorizo, and the Kwak poached stone crab with fried okra. I’ve never had an okra I liked, but this was amazing. Also checkout the chefs house made pickles(okra, tomatoes and cukes). I’ll be back!!!

Really great beer selection, decent prices and some of the friendliest staff you’ll meet. The bar itself is also great looking. The music was good as well and best of all, they had one of those old«Sinbad» movies(the adventurer, not the comedian) showing on the TV. Came here for beer club and would definitely come back.

Amazing beer selection, amazing bar, amazing bartender, amazing atmosphere. I want to write an incredibly descriptive review of how cool this place is but all I can say is obviously… It’s amazing. Great for beer lovers and lovers and lovers of good bars. Oh and also amazing 90s music… Bush, foo fighters, nirvana. and the best part is that it isn’t super loud, it’s the perfect volume to relax too and have a conversation to. Great… No…amazing place.

My friends and I ducked into this joint Saturday evening to get away from the college bar scene of St. Mark’s, seeing that it looked classy enough to have a drink and audible conversation. We were greeted with an extensive menu of beers from around the world, with a good selection on draft as well. Some of the names were rather obscure, but we discovered that the Vitus is one of the top ranked beers nationally — and after sampling, we agreed! The waiter was friendly and brought us complimentary mini-charcuterie boards after we decided not to order the larger platters, having just come from both dinner and dessert. The small sampling of meat and cheese was delicious nonetheless. If we hadn’t eaten, I’m sure we would have enjoyed the larger food options readily. Definitely come check out Lionsbeerstore if you’re in the area! It seemed to attract a good crowd despite its lack of Unilocal presence.
