Always a nice place to go. Good brunch meet-up place.

Awesome Israeli food with a twist, we live in the area but for some reason have not heard of this place and stumbled in. We ordered a few of the appetizers and they were each fantastic. We asked if the owner was in to say how good the food was and he can come out side and was very nice. Main courses were great again. The pickled onions was an awesome twist on the shawarma sandwich! They should serve it that way everywhere. Great place will come back soon.

Bar Virage is a little pricey but well worth it for he quality. The food is pretty standard, but still very good. What really stood out were the drinks. Their cocktail menu is delicious; I strongly recommend the Flower Power. Bar Virage is great to go to in the summer especially if you are someone who likes to sit indoors but still wants an outdoors experience. I was able to sit inside next to an open window and really enjoy the overall experience.

I cannot thank this place enough. I was on my bike and riding home and was hit by a car door thanks to two stupid people, and the folks at Virage came to my aid. The manager and servers were beyond kind. I haven’t eaten here yet, but that doesn’t matter. I’ll be back in a few days and will order the menu. Thanks, guys.

I think it’s the very last time for me to eat here. We only ordered a egg Benedict and a salad, and almost one hour later, the manager come to talk to us that if we can order again because they lost the tickets what we order. but i waited almost one hour and i have to move to another schedule. I just wanna know what did you do during that one hour long!!! and that was not busy at all, totally very very slow…

Love this place! I came here on a Friday after work with some girlfriends. We wanted to get happy hour and some appetizers. I ordered one of the house cocktails, the Cider Mule. It was so tasty and refreshing! The ginger beer complimented the tequila really nicely and it was just the right amount of alcohol. After 2 I was feeling pretty nice! For food, I ordered the Pickled Beet Salad and the Parmesan Crusted Portobello. They were both DELICIOUS and the plates actually complimented each other really nicely. I alternated between the two! What I loved about both dishes is the distribution of different flavors. The Pickled Beet Salad had a great salty & sweet combination with the diced apple. The Parmesan Crusted Portobello came with a perfect ‘5 minute egg’ that added a nice savory touch to the plate. And the sauce was creamy and mild to balance out the other flavors. Eating both of these dishes definitely filled me up. And the best part — they were nice and healthy and vegetarian! I also really love the décor and ambiance in this place. The mosaic artworks on the walls are super unique and beautiful. I especially liked the black and white one in the corner. I also like how the bar is U shaped in the middle of the place. It feels very hip. Overall, this is a great spot to meet up with friends in the evening. I will definitely be coming back to take advantage of some of the happy hour specials because they looked awesome!

Had the most awesome brunch here today! Was seated right away and service was awesome. Fresh blueberry muffins and coffee were sent right to as soon as I sat down. Our waitress was Jonelle, who was an absolute sweetheart. You CANNOT leave this place without trying the rosewater pancakes. Best in NYC. Highly recommend!

Super cute café. I came when it was relatively warm out so all the windows were propped open and there was a nice breeze coming in. I ordered the eggs Benedict with salmon and sadly, it was kind of disappointing. One of the poached eggs didn’t have runny yolk so that was a bummer. The sauce that came with the eggs also tasted kind of off. Not sure if it was supposed to be hollandaise sauce, but it was a bit too sour and sticky for me. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either. My friend had the avocado toast and the portion was pretty good. Two slices of toasts and two eggs. She said it tasted bomb, so I’ll probably try that for next time. All in all, I’d avoid the Benedict and orange juice(super tiny cup of «freshly squeezed OJ» that tasted suspiciously like Tropicana) and go for the avocado toast.

Oh my god what a disappointment this restaurant! We were looking for a nice place in terrace to enjoy the sun and we ended up waiting an hour for eggs Benedict. The first one was too cooked and the second was with the wrong order. We had to eat one plate at the time while they were changing them. The Bloody Mary does not have any taste of BM except for the spiciness. If you are looking at the outdoor space, keep walking!

Came to the east village for some drinks and stumbled upon this place after looking for a spot that had some tables outside to enjoy the nice weather. The place had a great vibe. For drinks I ordered the ginger Manhattan it has bourbon, ginger, jerry Thomas bitters, cocchi vermouth. I was not a big fan of this drink, it had a very odd taste. For tapas we ordered the hummus, mozzarella croquettes, shrimp, smoked octopus. Every single dish was delicious. the smoked octopus was out of this world. Definitely will be coming back.

I love it here! I love it so much I have been here three times for dinner in the last month. I always get the same thing though so I am not sure how the rest of the menu measures up but the short rib risotto is to die for and you always have to start with the mozzarella croquettes they are like tiny delicious crispy rice balls served with vodka sauce. Yummy! I have had other appetizers… all very good!

Against a backdrop of highly competitive brunch spots in East Village, Bar Virage certainly pales in comparison. My dining partner and I came here for brunch around noon on a Sunday and were quickly seated as the restaurant was only half full. Their brunch offerings are mostly simple and straightforward fare(think: eggs benedict, french toast, steak and eggs, shashouka), nothing outlandish or particularly exciting. As a starter, they serve complimentary mini blueberry muffins and raisin bread with butter, which I thought was a nice touch. I ordered the Traditional Shashouka($ 12) and was unimpressed by the rubbery texture of the baked eggs. In addition, the accompanying spicy tomato sauce lacked flavor and fell rather flat on my tongue. It did, however, come with a generous serving of pita bread on the side. My dining partner ordered the Steak and Eggs($ 14), which unfortunately turned out to be a disappointment as well. The steak, which he had requested to be of a medium doneness, was overcooked and tough. The portion was small, but that was to be expected, given the comparatively lower prices of Bar Virage’s brunch menu. On the whole, the service staff were friendly but the food left much to be desired. While I foresee this being a viable brunch option for those who prioritize the avoidance of weekend brunch crowds, I personally will not be returning here for brunch. (Also, take note that the brunch menu seems to have changed and certain options that previous reviews had cited were not available.)

I’m tempted not to write this review so no one steals and overcrowds my favorite brunch place. One of the best things about this hidden gem is you don’t have to wait a thousand hours to get seated. Hanger is real! Let’s get started. First of all, the atmosphere is so fun and chic. The bar height chairs are great, and those funk-ay orange sofas sing to my soul. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They’ve changed their menu quite a bit over the years, so some of my comments aren’t useful. My go to is always the smoked salmon benedict, and it’s always AWESOME. Eggs done just how I like it, flavorful with crunchy and soft muffin. They don’t skimp on the salmon. The little blueberry muffins they give you before your meal are amaaazing. Filled with crack, seriously. They give me a food coma afterwards but it’s worth it. My tea is always refilled promptly. Also I sometimes come at night and they had this lavendar cocktail that was LOVELY. Tapas can get pretty expensive though, but usually worth it. Virage, be my Valentine!

I’ve been coming to this place for 5 years very frequently and throughout all the changes. However, the most recent changes to the menu and prices are extremely disappointing. This was my go to brunch spot and sadly it will not be any longer. They got rid of all the best items, like the Southwestern Benedict, Lamb Sliders, Lobster & Eggs, etc. They also raised all the prices, especially the brunch cocktail prices. This weekend after going and discovering all of this, I ordered the eggs benedict with salmon that was extremely sub par so that I did not even finish a quarter of it… The people I was with were also upset with their burgers and regular eggs Benedict. They were also out of my favorite brunch cocktail, the passion fruit mimosa. Huge let down.

Brunch Disappointment. I have walked by this place many times and decided to get brunch today. First, my waiter didn’t speak to me or get me water for the first ten minutes. I ordered the Shrimp Avocado Eggs Benedict. The English muffin and the avocado were good. The shrimp was rubbery, the hollandaise was clearly taken from a bucket in the back, and the egg was almost hard boiled. To add insult to injury when I asked for more tea the waiter took another ten minutes. I might come back and try the tapas, but avoid brunch!

Urgh, this place was a bit of a disappoint. Maybe it’s better for brunch? And the happy hour is supposed to be nice. But for dinner, I had a very terrible martini and a tiny quesadilla with pretty bad quac. That said, the mushroom ravioli good. Our waitress was pretty confused most of the time, but she was nice. There is a lot of outdoor seating, which is always a perk. Moral of the story? Stick to pasta, and to the basic drinks on the menu.

I enjoyed coming to Bar Virage! We unfortunately missed the Happy Hour(ends at 7), but that’s ok because we had a fun time and the food was delicious. The two of us started with a carafe of red sangria, and then shared 3 tapas(the guacamole, the middle eastern combo platter, and the two-way truffle oil mozzarella). Delicious! We fortunately were able to sit outside right on 2nd Ave and it was a beautiful summer night, too. Service was great. Our waiter even gave us Jagermeister as a «digestive» for free– never knew that was a thing, but he definitely got some points for that. Topped it all off with a scrumptious apple tart with hazlenut crumble and vanilla ice cream! All in all, this is a great place to come for relatively affordable tapas, and a casual atmosphere in a vibrant area of the East Village.

Came here on a date and although that was a bust the food was a definite win. I love that they have wine on tap here. it’s good too, and the price is reasonable. We did a selection of small plates for dinner: — spicy chickpeas were smoky and crunchy and great –Mediterranean platter: everything had a lot of flavor. The hummus was creamy, babaganoush was garlicky, falafel not too dry and great dipping sauce, pita soft and warm — Mediterranean salad had a nice tangy flavor and veggies were fresh

This restaurant is one of my favorites they have the best person at the door Martin so accommodating he is, and my lovely friends are taking me here for my birthday on Saturday. I had been here twice the number 40 for brunch, and for dinner 3 times the number 30. The ambiance is fun during the night music plays awesome thanks to all the stuff and their good musical taste, but it’s still really nice for brunch get the huevos rancheros! The food is also very nice. For dinner I had the steak frites. The steak was really tender and cooked just as I like it, medium. The mash potatoes are divine. The salads and appetizers were also good. Mind blowing good fresh quality cocktails try the ginger martini or the peligroso water melon margarita!!! All soooooo goood!!! See you there!!!

*** SODELICIOUS, Friendly staff, Great selection of items *** Everything here is amazing. The tapa menu options can easily be split between two. My friend and I ordered about four or five dishes and it was decently priced and SO filling. The cocktails were also really good. I highly recommend this place for friends or a date night.

A spontaneous spot for a Friday night cocktail with friends… Service(2⁄5) Veryyyyy off-putting; waitress threw a good amount of ‘tude for a lady who hauled 4 rounds of $ 12 cocktails to relatively polite if not a bit tipsy yuppy girls. When I arrived and we asked to be seated at a 3 person table — she flipped alarmingly quick to super snooty to begrudgingly accommodating. Eh, just a bit weird — maybe she was having an off night — maybe she doesn’t want to serve cocktails to yuppy betches on Fridays — i don’t begrudge her that Cucumber Basil Cocktail(5⁄5) potato vodka, fresh basil & cucumber, peche de vigne yes…yes…yes… so fresh and so clean(and eventually so drunk) Two Bites of Guac(that i schemed from my friends after arriving late)(4⁄5) Yum! Reasonably priced! Nice little bar food situation. Kudos to friends fo allowing my schemage. Would probably come back :) good for a catch up over a drink

I’m one of those one and last times or come again ! Bar virage is one of those I’ll come again. I actually only been here twice since I love me some brunch and like to try many different places in NY that offers. I mean the city has endless Brunch places and being a Unilocaler and foodie, it’s my job to go to each and every one!!! lol anyways about Bar virage. So, I came here for brunch and got the lobster and egg with potatoes(with 2 strips of bacon) and also added a additional pancakes for just $ 5 dollars.(not bad) Since it was off the brunch menu it came with a small glass of orange juice and tea or coffee(got the coffee) I’m not sure if it’s a brunch inclusion but you get a little basket that contains grain bread and little crunchy muffins. It also comes with butter and a container of sweet jam. I usually eat the mini muffin with a spread of jam. It’s a match made in heaven. I love that the mini muffins are small and crunchys. They are enough to hold you until your dish comes out. The jam isn’t too sweet but is flavorful and not lumpy. So!!! my lobster and eggs came out and I was excited!!! I dug right in! I mean, that’s okay right. right? The potato pieces were tender and well seasoned. They were some yummy hard bits but none were overcooked nor undercooked. It was mixed well with the little pieces of lobsters. You will not miss them at all! Meaning that you can see the lobster pieces and they are truly visible and there on your plate. The egg on top was cooked sunny sided up and the runny yolk mixed with all the potatoes and lobsters were a god send. The two bacon on time was crunchy and were not too salty. But personally, I did not care for the bacon. You can TAKEIT!!! I’ll eat the rest, thank you very much. The pancakes on the side was a great end. Although, it did not outshine the lobster and eggs at all, which is a good thing. I mean why would you want your main to outshined by your side? That’s a big no-no! The pancakes were decent sized and weren’t big at all. For a 5 dollar side it was pretty good sized since any bigger and it would be too much. They came with two pancakes and they were fluffy tho I wished they were furrier. There was a syrup bottle and it was thick but not thick like Ihop. So it was pour able and was a good old fashioned pancake and maple syrup. The service was pretty okay although my servicer wasn’t available all the time, which was understandable. So, we would often ask different people to help us out or for something. Overall, great food and recommand the brunch.

Cozy little space with good food, good drinks, and good service. My bro-in-law performs in the neighborhood and frequents Bar Virage quite a bit, and took us here after one of his shows. Lots of wines and beers on tap, but as I was unable to drink when we visited, the bartender was quick to suggest a yummy«mocktail» for me. Fun little bar snacks(slightly spicy and crispy fried chickpeas, yummmm) and good food at decent prices. The kitchen is open late!

Yummy brunch without a crazy wait! My group of 5 was seated immediately and given cranberry walnut bread and awesome blueberry muffins to nosh on. So far so good. The brunch menu has two sections 1. $ 15 breakfast entrees that come with juice and coffee(a few items have an up charge) 2. Lunch stuff like burgers and salads The breakfast menu had a lot of interesting looking items so choosing was tough! I liked how it had your typical options and some really unique ones as well. I ordered the lobster hash(+3 $ upcharge) after a major internal debate and really liked it! It was really well flavored, the lobster seemed to be of good quality. I really liked the spicy hollandaise and my one complaint would be that I wish there was more of it! Oh and that the OJ that comes with brunch basically comes in a shot glass. My friends all liked their dishes as well. For those of you who don’t like to eat breakfast food for brunch, my friend really liked her lamb sliders. I would much rather eat here than at one of the more well known spots with a two hour line!

Hip hip horray it’s back! My fiancé and I came here a few times before the renovations for their brunch which was super good and included a brunch cocktail and coffee or juice with the meal — it was a great deal! They still have a similar brunch special that doesn’t include the brunch cocktail but is still worth it. Brunch cockatils are only $ 5 each, and the meals are HUGE and delicious. They still come with coffee and a fresh pressed juice, and homemade muffins and bread to start. We enjoyed ever piece of the meal from the muffins and bloodies to the actual main dish itself. We brought some back to the apartment because the plates were so big. Lobster & eggs — wowza Steak and eggs — steak is amazingly tender and seasoned unlike most brunch spots Southwest bene — so delicious with ground meat. I got the red chili sauce on the side because I am sensitive to spicy and the plate was perfect. You might think ground beef, eh, but it was super good. Classic eggs bene with salmon — no soggy biscuit here, just pure goodness! I have to stop in for dinner one night, because it seems I am addicted to their brunch!

We decided to drop by on Friday a little before 5pm after seeing how nice the ambiance was. We ordered the Margaritas and Mussels to share. The margaritas were good … the mussels were unexpectedly small, but it was not bad nothing special though. The service was a little off on the other hand. Our waitress was nice and friendly, but we only saw her twice — to take our order and she checked up on us once. 20 minutes into eating and catching up with my friend, a staff came stood in front us, pointing at the food and our plates asking if he can clean up — we were still eating so we politely declined. In less than 5 minutes, a different staff came and asked if he can clean up so again we declined. Within minutes the third guy came and just took all our plates away — we felt so awkward so we just asked for the check. We both looked around the restaurant thinking that maybe we where being rushed because it was getting packed, but that wasn’t the case here. Pro: nice ambiance. I’ll look for a different place around the area next time.
