Really friendly staff, good coffee and pastries. All the food is really good quality, and the soups and sandwiches are rather different, with an interesting selection.

I was invited to La Grande Pomme for a private dinner party a few weeks ago hosted by one of my friends, and could not have been more impressed. It’s a small, inviting restaurant led by truly passionate owners with a zeal for food and cooking. Quality of the food was terrific and the service was outstanding. Completely unassuming environment and a great location to host another dinner party or similar event. I’ll need to check out their regular menu now too! Overall very impressed.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Amazing food, very friendly staff, incredibly accommodating. I ate lunch here once on a quiet Saturday afternoon, and had an insanely good sandwich made off-menu. Then I approached Jason(the owner) about throwing a private party, and he was with me every step of the way. He planned a delicious thematically consistent menu around two geese that I wanted to cook, was very gracious even when the guest numbers kept changing, and made the place look great – super elegant – and a cozy comfortable spot to sit and eat with friends. All my friends – even the ones with dietary restrictions! – were amazed at how good the food was, how great a place it was, and how little they were asked to pay. The menu: two types of crostini(roasted salmon/capers/cream cheese, mushrooms/peppers/goat cheese), potato leek soup, salad, roast goose, some kind of crazy good kale/beet dish, quinoa/sweet potatos, and crepes with chocolate and strawberries. Every time something new came out we were amazed and delighted, every dish was excellent. If you are in the neighborhood, you have no excuse for not stopping by very often; if you live elsewhere, go visit, it could change your life.

This place is delicious and generous. They only have a small seating area and kitchen, so they like to do dinner for private parties rather than for multiple smaller groups, so definitely do call if you want to do dinner there. My party’s host called ahead and was invited to cook goose in LGP’s kitchen, while they provided bruschetta with king oyster mushrooms and an alternate selection of salmon-cheese-topped toasts. They happily let us bring our own wine, didn’t care that we were loud and boisterous, played cool music, fed us lots of delicious kale, beets, quinoa, sweet potatoes, and crepes. I wish I hung out in Yorkville more often.

WOW! For any dinner, let alone on New Year’s Eve, these guys hit it out of the park! A few weeks ago, in search of a reasonable NYE dinner for 15 – 20 of us, I scrolled through my Unilocal bookmarks and cold-called a bunch of restaurants. After hearing one robotic host after another saying«SPECIALMENU» or «PRIVATEPARTY,» I reached Jason, owner of La Grande Pomme. He asked me what WE would like to do for dinner… what would make OUR night that much more memorable for our group. Needless to say, this became the start of a great sequence of phone calls and emails with both Jason and Chandler(the chef). Food preferences and pricing were discussed, and we were welcome to bring our own wine, as this new restaurant has not yet applied for a liquor license. From talking on the phone with Chandler, I could immediately recognize his passion for quality ingredients, tasteful sauces/accompaniments, and beautiful plating. Fast-forward to NYE dinner. We were treated to an exquisite four-course meal meticulously planned by Chandler. We started off with tomato crostinis(pic: , some prepared without cheese for a few in our party) and a delicious salad w/kale, endive, blood orange, pickled beets, parmesan-reggiano & lemon herb vinaigrette( ). While the tomato crostini was tasty, the salad was definitely the standout! Between the blood oranges, picked beets, parmesian shavings, and lemon vinaigrette, there were lots of flavors going on, but everything worked in symphony and made for an awesome salad! Choice of entrée included lamb w/rustic mashed, caramelized fennel, roasted beets & jous( ) chicken w/mushroom risotto, vegetables & mirepoix sauce( ), salmon w/trumpet mushrooms, vegetables & kale( ), and mushroom w/vegetables & kale. The lamb was delicious and juicy, and went down perfectly with the tasty mashed potatoes. I sampled the chicken, and the sauce was terrific, but I usually jump at the opportunity any time lamb is available! Portions were perfectly sized, satisfying the group without leaving anyone feeling overly stuffed. This was perfect for the tasty little brown-sugar cookies( ) they surprised us with afterwards! Aside from the excellent meal, I have to give another shoutout and thank you to Jason, Chandler, and David for making the planning, and of course, the dinner, a terrific experience for all of us. We all left pleased, and I am definitely looking forward to returning!

Just had lunch at this place and wow. Most importantly the guys who work there are such sweethearts and I can tell they take pride in what they serve. Now, the food, OMGTHEFOOD! I had the L’ambwich, lamb cooked to perfection, just the right amount of cheese and the bread was toasted to perfection(I know, sounds like a no brainer but if you only knew my experiences at other places, you’d understand). Also had their cream of mushroom soup, my friend and I both found it to be quite decadent. I left there feeling very satisfied and not feeling like I need a nap after lunch. I will surely treat myself to this place once a week.

This place is great! The food is delicious and the people running the place are friendly, hard-working, and knowledgeable… both in their cuisine as well as in the BYOB regulations of NYC!(Apparently, according to the people running La Grande Pomme, only restaurants with fewer than 20 seats are legally allowed to be BYOB, a number La Grande Pomme comes in right under. The owners even had some suggestions for which nearby grocers had good beer and wine selections! That’s some good service right there;) Oh yes, the meal. I went with a few friends for a special dinner, and had their salad with pine nuts, sundried tomatoes, and chevre, then had their Australian blood orange cumin lamb chops on mushroom risotto and black kale. The salad was good, the lamb was excellent; it was cooked just right, juicy and flavorful, a perfect medium-rare. Though I’m not typically a huge mushroom fan, the risotto was good, and the black kale, just in season according to the owners, was excellent. Simply put, these guys take pride in their ingredients and it shows. I can’t wait to come back and try a sandwich!

Just ate the L’ambwich and it was very very good. It felt like your own personal chef was preparing your meal. Nice people inside, very friendly. I look forward to trying dinner there sometime.

La Grande Pomme cranks out some righteous sandwiches! This is not your typical sandwich shop… This place takes the art of sandwiching(is that even a word?) to a whole ‘notha level, as evident by their innovative offerings. I went in today with a friend, and I ordered the Superior di Pisa(which was superior) and he ordered the L’ambwich. The ingredients were fresh and the infusion of flavors was fantastic! We both felt that our sandwiches were among the best we’ve ever had. I also feel that La Grande Pomme is one of the Upper East Side’s best kept secrets… It’s a great addition to the neighborhood, and you can tell that the super friendly guys running this place are putting their hearts into what they are doing — It definitely shows in the food. If you are someone who regularly walks past and thinks about giving La Grande Pomme a try, think no further… Treat yourself to a special sandwich and support a local business that is trying to make it in this great city we live in. I look forward to my next visit! TIP: If you’re looking for more than a lunch sandwich, they offer dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.

Great place for lunch. Had soup and a sandwich. Prices were reasonable and the service was incredible. Will definitely be going back. The Tomate sandwich is a must try.

La Grande Pomme is grand indeed, with plenty of room to grow. A co-worker went there for lunch a few weeks back, brought a menu back to the office, and I felt inclined to try something a little bit new today. The space is teeny tiny; I very vaguely remember the old café /bakery that was in its place. Despite the cramped quarters, the space is well utilized, with a handful of two-person tables, most being used by one person eating their sandwich whilst flicking through their iPhone. The walls are sparse but painted a warm and enveloping orange that makes you feel cozy, not claustrophobic. The menu is small but the choices are enticing. A few sandwiches, a few salads, and a bevy of coffees /teas /cocoas. I prefer a place that does not overwhelm me with choices, but I was still overwhelmed because what they serve all looks delicious! I chose to go a simple route an I ordered the Tomate Sandwich: roasted tomatoes, red leaf lettuce, freshly-shaved slices of Parmesan, and balsamic vinegar. My one bad note: As a «to go», this is not an ideal sandwich. Despite the thick, crusty, delicious baguette it is served on, that vinegar just eats away at the bottom piece of bread. It was complete mush by the time I got back to the office. It was a shame because, taste-wise, this sandwich is exceptional! WOW. So robust! I think it’d be better eaten at the restaurant immediately. Service was seemingly slow, which I thought was bad at first.(That wasn’t so much ME thinking as it was my stomach thinking. In my «go go» lunch break, if I don’t have food in 10 minutes, my world starts crumbling down around me, and I was HUNGRY. Ha!) It took about 20 minutes to get my food. I did take into consideration how my sandwich was made to order and… well…was really delicious. I can’t be mad. I’m too nice. Ha! The staff is absolutely fantastic, genuinely happy and engaging. I love staff that doesn’t have to force small talk: it just comes out naturally. If I’m going to wait around for a sandwich to be made, at least I can have some good small talk about potato chips and the weather with the guy behind the counter. Bien! One guy was discussing how hours may soon be expanded to include dinner entrees. I’m all for that. This is a unique café that I think is a great addition to this neighborhood. I hope to go back and sample more of their menu!(Though I think I’ll take the time to sit in there and enjoy it.) I believe their chai and Nutella hot cocoa are next on my list to try, as well…

I found this gem walking to work and I’m so happy I did! Food is incredible:) Highly recommend a chai latte and oatmeal in the morning and the Superior di Pisa Sandwich for lunch. The staff is always friendly and inviting… this cute little place is a perfect addition to the UES eateries!

Wow! On my way to look for a quick bite, I fortunately happened upon La Grande Pomme. The food was exceptional… I ordered the Le Jardin sandwich. It was unbelievably tasty! The service and owners of this café are overwhelmingly welcoming and their passion shows in their offerings! We’ll be back soon. Perfect for someone from the neighborhood or a visitor to the area.

As soon as I walked in, I was told to get the Louis sandwich by the nice man behind the counter. I wasn’t completely sold on it but said yes anyway. He was right. It’s so good! All in all, cute addition to the neighborhood.
