Consistent, exceptional service! As mentioned, this store is owned by a lovely, incredibly-kind husband and wife, the sort of people who wave at you on the street, smile, and really want everything to be right. They are very polite, which some people may take as a little formal. Me, I find it delightful. As to price, apparently the whiners didn’t price any other cleaners on the Upper East Side. I live in one of the big, expensive doorman buildings. Max is one of the least expensive places that pick up and drop off at the building, whose tenants often use Madame Paulette and other hyper-luxe services. Yet Max’s service is the best. Why? Because they actually look at your stuff before sending it back to you, and attend to details if you have asked them to. I have given them carte blance to mend anything they see that needs mending, to put replacement buttons on my shirts if they are crushed or torn off, etc. Accordingly, my shirts have for more than five years come back every time perfect, unlike every other cleaners I tried on the UES. My laundry is washed well and folded. My dry cleaning, if it has a tear or a poor cuff, will generate a call to me whereupon I will approve the alterations, done with care and at a reasonable price. Even though I tell them to just do it, they always at least leave me a message, and I have always been happy with the mending work and with the price. And it doesn’t get more convenient than having them spot the problems and take care of them, without me having to do anything. It’s simple. I leave the bag of stuff with my doorman, and I get nicely-done clothes back within a couple days’ time. Five years ago, I gave them my Amex card number for the pickups and deliveries and in five years, I have never been mistakenly-charged or overcharged. These are the kinds of warm, caring people who I feel good spending my money with, and I recommend them every time I can to people in my building.

I live right next door so I have used them several times for laundry. They do a good job, and the older gentleman is a lovely man, very friendly, but his wife is rude. Plus, this place is OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced. I had a women’s skirt suit that needed to be dry cleaned(it was fine, but I wanted to get it done since I had an interview coming up), I also wanted a button tightened, since it seemed like the thread were getting lose. This cost me 17.50! I typically don’t get things dry cleaned in the area so I figured, perhaps NYC is just pricey for dry cleaning. However, after some research, it seems that most other places in the area charge about 10 for the same suit! Definitely not worth going to them, there is a place called fluff and fold a couple blocks north. I have heard good things and the pricing is MUCHMORE reasonable.

This shop is operated by a husband/wife duo who are among some of the most friendliest people you’ll meet. They offer quick laundry service(same day pick-up if in by 9) and they even deliver! Alterations are also available, but I’ve not needed such services here. Perhaps in the past the prices were high, however, I think the prices today are more than reasonable!

Very good at what they do. But very very pricey. Very quick service, friendly. I get a lot of my pants hemmed here and they always do a great job. Very convenient location for me, so despite being a little pricey, I will stick with them. Open fairly late(7pm) most days during the week. Closed on Sundays.
