We ate here with our friends that recommended it as they eat here frequently. I have to admit I would probably walk right by this place and never notice it. Very unassuming establishment. Small inside with very few dine in customers. Steady take out traffic. We all ordered the bento meal which was excellent. Our son ordered the sushi and he liked the rolls very much. A great little place.

Staff was friendly but very quiet. Sushi was actually really good, our favorite was the New York Roll. My wife and I enjoyed the sushi but the ambiance of the restaurant is very low key. Overall good experience for us.

I am such a huge fan of their all you can eat option. Its like 30 bucks but it includes a lot of the specialty rolls that will usually run you about 12 – 14 bucks per roll. I have never had any issues with food quality although the ambiance could use a little bit of an improvement. or at least some music. I usually am able to put down 6 – 7 rolls, so I know I am getting my moneys worth.

By far the best sushi I have had in a while. I had the crunch spicy crab, Philadelphia roll, Alaskan roll, spicy tuna, Shrimp tempura, and Spicy crunch tuna. It was during the lunch special($ 24 total) and came with two salads. I ate very well today :)

The Yellow tail jalapeño is delicious! They added siracha — which gives your taste buds an extra kick! They also put a ton of fish in their rolls! This is a super affordable go to sushi place. Their«all you can eat» seems like a killer deal — but we opted out because we wanted a quick bite.

I’ve been here quite a few times in the past few months, sometimes for takeout and sometimes I eat in. The décor is very nice and clean. The miso soup and salad are delicious, which by itself rates very high for me. You can’t always find that! The sushi itself is absolutely sublime. It’s always fresh and tasty, and I really enjoy it. Even my friend, who is quite the food critic, greatly approves. The prices aren’t too bad either! So far, my favorites are the Spicy Salmon, Tamago(Egg) Avocado, Avocado, Shrimp Tempura and Eel Avocado. I have yet to try other rolls from here but I’m sure I won’t be disappointed! Highly recommended!

Ate here on on January 1. My to go place around here is Sushi Yasaka. I’ve alway avoided Kumo Sushi because it’s usually not busy and the all you can eat special they have doesn’t sound like something a quality Sushi place would do. Went there alone and boy was I surprised. Service was excellent. Sushi was extremely fresh. Off the top of my head I had some Eel, Uni, Toro, Salmon, Sweet Shrimp and they fried the heads for me, Mackerel, Miso Soup Salmon Roe & Tobiko both with qual egg. and a couple of large hot Sakes. That’s all I can remember but since it’s almost impossible to get into Sushi Yasaka without a reservation most nights I’m sure I’ll be eating here a lot.

Our first Sushi n New York was so disappointing. We ordered 2 rolls that looked promising and unique and they turned out to be not well made, and the mixture of fish and vegetables should be re-considered. The Teriyaki sauce had pretty strange taste, and the chili sauce look like was taken from Mediterranean kitchen and not Japanese.

The sushi is nasty here, dry, warm and smelly. It looks and tastes old, definately not fresh! The place was dark and even the menu smells. Definitely not coming back again.

For me this is the best sushi in town. Great options, a wide variety of rolls and special rolls as well, top quality fish and seafood and unbeatable prices. $ 14 specials that are to die for, many come with lobster! and you can order 2 special rolls for $ 20 for take out. Same with the regular rolls: many many choices including the crunchy lobster that is incredible, 3 rolls for $ 14. The top choices are: Pink lady Sweet heart Crunchy lobster Godzilla Tokyo And many more They deliver but it kind of varies in the hour, weather, mood and zodiac sign of the guy who makes the order. Don’t know what happens but you have to catch them in a good day. Top quality food!

Kumo is a solid 3 star sushi place. Let me explain. I’ve been to Kumo 4 or 5 times now. In my opinion, their dine in is better than their take out. This time I had a lunch special — two special rolls for $ 15. I got the sweetheart roll and the rainbow roll. None of the sushi from this place is incredible special, but it’s cheap and fast and fairly reliable. $ 15 for two special rolls or $ 8 for two regular rolls(plus a soup or a salad) is pretty cheap in my opinion. Nothing is gourmet or particularly well crafted, but it gets the job done. Unfortunately the service here is sort of lacking. I think that they’re attentive but they just aren’t very nice. No one greets you or thanks you for anything, which has always kind of bothered me as a repeat customer. The people there want nothing to do with you. The experience doesn’t really make you feel like a «valued» customer, if you will. All in all, Kumo is okay. I will probably be back.

Pipin’ hot miso soup. Two delicious, mouth-satisfying maki rolls. Hot tea. All for $ 8. That’s quite a deal for this area. I ordered the yellow tail with scallions and the spicy tuna roll. Within minutes, my food came. The rice was sweet and vinegary, the fish was fresh and still had that yellowtail chew. I ate my meal within minutes too. I should have ordered more food, but I was in a rush and didn’t feel like sitting and eating all day. Next time, I’ll order the 3 maki rolls with miso soup for $ 11, because I left still hungry.

Nice clean, easy to find place. I came here when it wasnt busy so there were two other groups besides myself and I ordered the all you can eat sushi meal(27.95 + 18 percent GRAT. charge). 3ds but its all you can eat so whatever. What I did not like was the very limited choices on the menu, Im used to not just sushi but also appitizers and green tea available with these kind of deals but it only had sushi. The sushi itself was great quality ESPECIALLYTHETUNAOHMYGOD. best quality I have ever had. BUT, in my opinion they were a little too generous with the avocado in the rolls rather than the fish in the rolls which i dont like. Also I think they did a poor joeb in compacting the rice for the sushi; this might seem weird but if a sushi cheif doesnt compact the shrimp well enough or if the rice is still hot/warm(which is was) then the rice is going to fall apart while you are trying to eat it. NOTFUN. But the food was good, service was alright most of the night but when I was ready for my check they took forever. Good place good sushi just not sure if worth the price.

This is my favorite go to place for sushi in New York City. It is also the best all-you-can-eat sushi in New York City. It is fresh and mighty delicious. Did I mention it’s all under $ 30 with tip included. The staff knows what they’re doing and Gary Who makes the sushi it’s amazing when I sit at the bar with my children or friends. The last time I went there I spilled some soy sauce on my shirt. I had paid my bill. I asked the waiter to get me some seltzer water and a napkin. What you did really impressed me. He opens up a can of seltzer and gives me a towel. I asked him how much I owed him and he said, nothing! I’m extremely impressed every time I come here but this time with a customer service even more impressed. Will always be coming here when I’m in the mood for sushi.

If you are a true sushi lover of quantities, they offer All-You-Can-Eat Sushi special, and have plenty of sushi menu to select from. It is a bit pricey at $ 27.50 per person, but if you are super hungry for sushi, it might be worth your time and money. They look small from the outside, but has more than enough table seating at front and back, with counter seats at the sushi counter as well. The quality of sushi was surprisingly good, as I was not expecting a good quality sushi, so it was good. Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

The faithful kumo sushi has the precision and consistency that deserves to be noticed. Without fail I have ordered take out over 10 times from the establishment and most if not all times they have included additional freebies in my order generously, and never have I not been full after ordering their dinner special. The delivery guy is always polite, prompt and always takes the food up to my walk up. The sushi itself is of higher quality than most in the area of the upper west side as far as take out goes. The moderately priced sushi dinner(~$ 19) comes with 3 very large tempura shrimp, 3 pieces tempura vegetable, 6 little dumplings, 5 – 6 piece nigiri and a 6 piece california roll. A soup salad and rice is normally also included in the dinner box. The hand rolls/maki are priced very reasonably about 4 – 7 $ depending what you get for a sizable 8 piece roll. You are allowed the option to have inverted maki(seaweed on outside) for either free or ~$ 0.50-$ 1 extra a long with lots of other options. Not only are you given these very specific options which other sushi places don’t have, Kumo sushi also is very accurate with the order, and if you pay extra to have it a certain way you can have good faith they will make it correctly. When I have a large order the entire order is accurate to perfection, the soy sauces are bagged individually to prevent them from breaking open and the containers are ridged plastic to prevent from breaking open in transit. The cold sushi is always buffered from the warmer tempura enough so its all still freshly chilled as if just made when it gets to my door. The business pays very close attention to detail with my orders and i appreciate it.

I have been coming here on and off since before it was Kumo. Back then is was named Kinoko and it was the second sushi restaurant I had eaten at and I came often for the AYCE sushi special. Over the years the quality eventually degraded and I stopped coming. The sushi was«ok». Which would be ok if it were less expensive. The fish did not seem as fresh as I have come to expect and the rice was either a different grain or perhaps slightly undercooked. With so many options in NYC I probably will not be returning anytime soon.

This place is all about the quantity over the quality. Definitely accommodates large groups well, and it’s a fun atmosphere if you’ve been drinking or plan to be drinking a lot. Don’t expect anything mind-blowingly good, but that being said, I’ve never gotten sick eating here and do have a sensitive stomach.

This place is a frat party. If you are looking for good food it’s not here. Prob some of the worst sushi I have ever had. Their house wine is Franzia. The sake tastes watered down. What’s the positive? Why do people come here? This is where you go with a groupon when you have a table of 20. People are screaming, sake bombing, banging the tables, singing. It’s a fun environment if you had a few drinks. It’s not going to be fun if you’re on a date or don’t like loud noises.

Cheap lunch-special sushi will always be my baby. Or at least, my maybe. Sure I have the occasional, thrilling tryst with the Nakazawas and Ichimuras and Kyubeis of the world, but those are one-night things, I promise. Like, promise promise. $ 8 two roll special, $ 11 three roll special, $ 15 two special roll special, thanks for taking me back every time. You are there for me, Monday through Sunday. You dont make me clean up first when I come in wearing my gym clothes. You dont mind a quick in and out thing. When I have time to stay and cuddle, and read or talk, youre down for that too. And you NEVER rush me to get out the door. You may not be the hottest stuff of my dreams, but you are my waking reality, a good lunch date, week in and week out. Those dinners come with too many strings and expectations anyway. I will always call you back, want you when Im perusing Seamless on a sick day, and return to you. No matter what. __ No seriously. When Chipotle’s line is out the door, and I want a reasonably healthy 25-minute(sit-down!) lunch in the UWS70’s, this is my ticket. Theyre good about service at Kumo especially if you tell them of your time constraints, the hot tea pours freely. Every neighborhood needs a crappy, Chinese-owned sushi joint, and Kumo is one of the better ones in value and taste.
