Nail By Young

Great nail salon in the UWS neighborhood and exceeded my expectations. I did a lot of research on nearby salons and was turned off by places like Pinky’s when I walked in and the manager was SO aggressive. When I moved to the hood from UES, was sad to leave my fave nail spot on the east side and didn’t fee confident I’d find a similar spot on the UWS until I found Nail By Young.
This salon is clean, efficient, quiet and the employees are all kind and patient and respective of one another. You don’t feel rushed in there. It’s also extremely conveniently close to the 72^nd Street subway station and even with out an appointment, I’ve never had to wait longer than 20 – 30 min. Luz is my favorite! Very patient, does an excellent job.
They have a huge selection of nail polishes and gel nail polishes — especially Essie gel nail polishes! Rare to come by in nail salons. Well priced and they have a frequent customer card /​punch card, which is always a perk.

My mom and I came here for mani-​pedis before a wedding based on Unilocal reviews. We did walk-​in around 12:30 and had to wait about 20 minutes — not a big deal because we had the day free. The two women who worked with us were very friendly and kept us next to each other the whole time. The salon is clean, bright, and quiet. They were doing such a thorough job with the pedicure that I was nervous I’d selected some expensive package by accident (even though I just said standard pedicure). It turned out that WAS the normal package! It was a very reasonable price for everything and our nails came out looking good. Highly recommend.

Went to this nail salon for a mani and pedi and it was great. The price is very reasonable $ 31 for both. This place is extremely clean and professional. The lady that did my nails was named Cicilia and she was fantastic. Definitely will be going back to this place again and again!

Love this place! I got a pedicure here and it was fantastic.
I was a little nervous at first because when you approach the building, it looks a little sketchy. But you go up the stairs to the salon, and inside it is bright, clean, and welcoming. The women who worked there were extremely friendly and welcoming. My pedicurist’s name was Maria. She did a great job and was very attentive to detail.
My pedicure looks so nice, and it was really inexpensive. I will definitely return here.

Can’t say enough good things about this spot — I’m currently rocking gels that in 2 days will have lasted beautifully for 3 weeks. Gels, pedis, back massages — Nails by Young is clean, consistent, kind/​happy place that’s has superior service. Highly recommend !!!

As soon as the technician began the manicure I knew it was going to be bad. I should’ve left right then before paying $ 37 for the worst gel manicure I’ve gotten. To start, she removed my previous gel polish by scraping my nails so hard they began to throb. Then, when it came time to trim my cuticles, she rushed through this so quickly I could see hangnails on multiple fingers. As a result, the finished product looks like something a child could’ve done for me at home. Here’s a photo of the results less than 24 hours later. Sadly, I will not be returning to this salon that otherwise looked great (clean, spacious).

After a few years of very mediocre manicures and pedicures in my W 72^nd St neighborhood, I ventured up to the 2^nd floor Nail By Young. Sook was my technician. Without a doubt– the BEST mani/​pedi I have had on the UWS!!!
Rosa waxed my eyebrows exactly the way I like them. I have happily found my new go to Nail Salon !!!

Salon appears very clean. The pedicure bowls are sprayed with disinfectant and rinsed after each client (although, no disposable liners used). Generous selection of OPI and Essie nail polish colors, including the latest season collections. I got Pink & White powder fills on my nails, but I felt pushed to «try» UV gel extensions next time by my technician (perhaps because they’re more expensive?). Still: nice, peaceful atmosphere with classical music playing. Owner Young is very attentive and kind. A good option on the UWS.

Not the fanciest or most luxurious but a solid manicure/​pedicure that wont be rushed. Gel can be hit or miss depending on which brand you use, but thats not exclusive to this salon — you’ll have that everywhere. Good polish selection and well kept. Very friendly staff. free wifi!

Had a Spa pedicure and a 20 minute massage. The pedicure chairs were great and I felt like they really paid attention and didn’t rush. Felt like a bright open space — don’t be put off by the fact that you have to go up to the first floor, it’s nice when you get there. I think this will be my regular spot.
Edit to add: Was a bit disappointed as my pedicure was chipping within 5 days. Normally I get a good 1 to 2 weeks. May try again but take my own Polish next time.

What a great little place! My daughter treated me to a pedicure during my recent visit and with her suggestion, I upgraded to the 20 minute foot/​leg massage. I was in heaven. Especially since I’ve been recovering from foot surgery and welcomed the pampering. Friendly staff and I can see why they get such great reviews.

Nails by Young is a great find on the UWS. There prices are very reasonable and the women are so nice. It is also extremely clean for being a smaller place. The girl doing my manicure gladly did a 3^rd coat without giving attitude about it (which I find all the time). It’s definitely worth trying out!

Seems very clean, I had a friendly tech do my pedicure. Regular pedi $ 21 Only giving 4 stars not 5 bc massage part of pedicure almost nonexistent. But I will go back.

Ok, they greet you as soon as you walk through the front door. Wasn’t sure if they thought I was going to rob them.
It’s never a good thing when the woman asks you to help her out with your own manicure. Top coat job looks a mess. Enjoying the pretty color tho

Nail By Young left an excellent impression on me.
From the moment I walked in I was helped, and the lady at the front helped me choose the right color for my pedicure, even going so far as to test the colors on her own nails so I could see.
The lady who did my actual pedicure was wonderful as well. She got the massage chair going, clipped my nails nicely, and handled my cuticles with great care. I usually never get my cuticles pushed back or trimmed since I’m so sensitive, but she did it so carefully and delicately that I did not feel any pain and the end result was wonderful.
The callus removal part was a little short, but everything else was great. Pricing was reasonable, dare I even say on the cheap side considering the service) I would definitely be back for another, and I might go for a manicure next time as well.

I realized I may have been too harsh on my first review. I came back a second visit and give this a 3 star review. The mani/​pedi is quick but the service is good and the staff are kind. The place is clean and the equipment is sterile. Still no massage post-​mani/​pedi but the people are nice and price is right. Can’t beat that in the UWS.

I am definitely a nail snob and this place is one of the best in the city. I am the kind of person that walks out of a nail salon and immediately ruins at least one finger. My manicure was done PERFECTLY and it stayed without any chips for a week. They are always on time for their appointments and are reasonably priced. They are friendly and fast.

I usually don’t mind this place, but the last time I went there, the nail technician (who wore very thick glasses) cut my toe. «Ow.» I said «you cut me.» «No, that’s your nail.» She replied. It’s week later and I’m still treating the painful cut and trying to avoid an ingrown because of it. Oh, and there was mouse poop on the wall near the dryers. NO MORE!

I don’t normally write reviews, but I almost stormed out of this place as soon as my nails were finished and I had shelled out nearly $ 90.
Came here today to pamper myself for my birthday and so I wanted to so something more with my nail polish. Asked for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Show a picture of a reverse french manicure that I wanted, and the technician seemed hesitant but the owner Young insisted they could do it. (Without mentioning she would charge an extra $ 15, and on the bill, it was an extra $ 16 due to tax — isn’t it great how they just name their own price)?
Got started with my pedicure just fine, but it was my manicure that turned out terribly. Ceci was my technician and she was really nice about it, but she clearly didn’t know how to do it and ended up putting on 4 – 5 layers of color on my nails. In the end the result is in the photos– you can see that my polish is so thick and there is a clear lump in between the two colors. This is because she had never done this before and drew the white part too large (initially it took up half my nail).
I’m sure I would have been MUCH happier if Young just told me they can’t do a reverse french manicure instead of forcing her technicians to give it a try and then screw up so bad. I didn’t have the heart to ask Ceci to do it over because she had already spent 2 hours on my nails/​plus she wasn’t going to get the majority of the profit. I was also very unhappy with the extra charge without warning as I asked her when I first came in.
Definitely NEVER coming back. Terrible business ethics.

Came here with hubby, both of us got pedicure done. He had 20 minutes of massage on top of pedicure and I did callus elimination.
Comparing to all the other places in NY I have been, this place is great if you take into consideration of price, hygiene, customer services and quality of work.
Will certainly come back again.
