I came in Kove Bros Hardware looking for something very specific (butane for a food torch). Like any hardware store in NYC, they have to fit a lot of items in a small amount of space. So while it appears a bit messy of sorts, there’s a place for everything. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely attentive and very helpful. With each customer before me and myself included, he provided undivided attention along with recommendations that would fit my needs.

Very attentive and helpful staff. Only needed to replace one screw. The staff member took the time to find the two screws that were the closest match. The pack of 20 screws was only $ 1.59 for a pack of screws yet the service was no different than if I was purchasing a larger item.

Great little mom and pop store! Surprisingly well stocked for such a small store, but with a much more knowledgable and helpful staff than a big store. They took the time to work with me to solve a problem even though it was a small sale. I’m glad there are still places like this in Manhattan. Excellent.

Landed up with a flat tire in from of Kove Bros. this morning. Panicking about what to do a friend suggested I search for a can of flx a flat. Dubious that I’d find it in Manhattan, I found it at Kove Bro. Not only that, someone came out and filled my tire for me. Amazing customer service and they truly have everything. Plus, glad to see a long time neighborhood staple (92 years they told me) still thriving.

With great reluctance for my upcoming task of a major overhaul– overdue cleaning, I needed two pairs each of goggles, household gloves and masks. Without the luxury of time or money, Kove Bros. is within the proximity of my workplace. This hardware store is family own and operated serving the Chelsea community and beyond. The staff was able to assist my needs who, at first glance, thought I was attaining all these objects to be used as a Halloween costume. AIJA! How difficult is it for one to understand my need to attain these essential objects for a major overhaul cleaning?

1 Household gloves $ 2.49
Totals $ 12.49 (with sales tax) + One giant headache calls for pure exhaustion!

Neighborhood Mom and Pop hardware store. It’s a old school Manhattan Mom and Pop store. If you’ve been to the old school mangenarro’s you’ll know what i mean. So don’t come here looking for good service but a gritty ny experience.
They have a wide variety of items but to me they are very pricey for this neighborhood. The big olé box store down the block has similar items and at a more affordable price.
To me i usually only come here to get keys made. Still a bit pricey but convenient.

This morning I was walking my dog before the rain started. Kove Bros — one of the few remaining family hardware stores in Chelsea, had opened despite the coming storm. They actually had a small supply of the coveted «D» battery which had vanished in the pre-​Sandy shopping frenzy yesterday. I had left the apt. without my wallet or cash. The owner gave me four batteries and told me to come back after the storm to pay. That would not have happened at Home Depot, Duane Reade or CVS.
Support Kove Bros. and your remaining local businesses whenever you can! Without them, true neighborhoods don’t exist.
