A singularly unique and wonderful burgin’ experience. I would imagine any of the options are delightful, though I went with The Original myself. My medium rare was a beautiful pink, and the fried doughy bun/crust must be beheld to believe. Add extra garlic aioli because the dab they provide is just a tease! The beet based hot sauce is tasty if not super hot. Good beer selection, cozy ambience. CASHONLY. They have an ATM but I hate that fee game. Definitely Czech this place out.

If you don’t already know this place exists then you’re probably not going to be eating here. Almost walked right by it on a Saturday afternoon — quite a walk to get here from the subway, and made sure to come early to avoid the crowds. Thankfully almost no one inside, I basically already knew what I wanted(thanks Unilocal). Got one of the two beers on draft($ 7), the fried Otto($ 15), and fried Halusky($ 4). Server was extremely attentive, but it takes a bit for the meal to come out — around 20 minutes. Halusky was fried well, the beet ketchup tasted exactly what it sounds like, not my thing. The hot sauce was much better. The burger patty was extremely juicy, with the bun and ingredients not exactly holding up very well as you eat it. Thankfully the beer was light enough to get me through all the fried halusky(it became a bit much halfway in). This spot is interesting. I would never come here unless it wasn’t crowded. The benches in the back aren’t very comfortable, but the bar area is padded, so would try that next time. Also at $ 28(w/tax) — it’s very expensive for a lunch.

This place is a must try. I’m kind of glad it’s not mainstream b/c then it would be so crowded. The restaurant is small and a little dark, but the food was AMAZING. I came here with 1 other friend. We ordered the original and the otto, both fried. I’m drooling just thinking about the burgers. The outside was fried and the meat and fillings were hidden inside the burgers. They were pre-cut and cooked just right. It was such a unique way of eating the burgers, but so delicious. My favorite was probably the Otto b/c of the sauce, I like my sauces. We also ordered the Fried Halušky, I don’t know how to descry what it was but it was so good. It’s so difficult for my to describe with words how tasty this place was. Although maybe I’m biased since i LOVE burgers. I can’t wait to return!

Had the klassik halusky which was good but a bit heavy, good to share though. We ordered the original and the Slav to share. Both were delicious but I liked the original more. The fried bun was sooo good, it really made the burger. What an excellent idea it was to deep fry the burger. They have home made beet ketchup and hot sauce. I’m not a fan of the beet ketchup. I’m sorry, I prefer regular ketchup. On the other hand, I thought the hot sauce was pretty good especially mixed in with the mayo they serve on the side if the burger. I will def come back.

Small, narrow dimly lit restaurant specializing in Slovakian food. Their menu is very limited and mostly features a few appetizers and their version of a hamburger. We tried the following: Traditional halusky: This appetizer is sort of like a macaroni salad, except it is made up of potatoes that are very starchy with the texture of cheese curds. It also contains feta cheese and bacon bits on top. I thought this one was very tasty and is a good choice as something unique to try. Original Burger: What makes their burger unique is that the patty is cooked then placed inside a piece of langos bread, fried and then cut in half at the end! As a result, the juices of the beef and cheese are all sealed in. This is definitely one of the better burgers that I have had — highly recommended. Just this item alone makes the visit worth it. Haus Veggie Burger: This one is a vegetarian version of the above item. Instead of beef, they make a patty out of beets. I did not like that much. Because of the beets, it had a somewhat sour taste to it. Strangely enough, they also offer serve their burgers with beet ketchup instead of regular ketchup. I did not like that much either but it’s an interesting offering.

Krozo Haus is famuos for their deep fried burger… HELLYESEXACTLY!!! They grill a burger… take that — top it off with toppings then toss it into a pastry bun and DEEPFRYTHESUCKERTOGOLDENDELICIOUSNESS! It’s really good — somewhat a little bit of a novelty — deep fried burgers right i mean come on! But i think the flavor profiles should be more wide ranged. I had split 2 different burgers with my buddy. I think b/c it’s deep fried and very tasty — you should get it — but I don’t think you have to go back again and again to try the other burgers — but it’s good!

This fried burger thing they have going here is actually quite amazing. For a burger, bread is half the battle, and all kinds of good things happen to bread when you deep fry it. The consistency of it just becomes so scrumptious. Each burger is cut in half, and each half is a freshly-fried pita-shaped doughnut with meat and toppings inside… key adjective being freshly-fried. Honestly, the bread texture really won me over, and I was overwhelmingly impressed when my teeth first sank into it. The burger meat was solid, being adequately juicy and flavorful. However, it can’t compare to the premier burger places that use steak-trimmings in their beef patties. At $ 15 a burger, it’s more expensive than a Peter Luger burger, so I don’t think it’s an unfair comparison. Other than that, pick the burger with the toppings you want. I’ve had the original, and the slav. The original is much more like your traditional burger, with bacon and cheese, whereas the slav’s main differentiator lies in the pork neck and sauerkraut. They were both good in their own way, as I’m sure the other burgers on the menu are as well. There is no regular tomato ketchup here… which I would’ve preferred. The sauces available are beet ketchup and sriracha sauce. The beet is interesting, and I don’t hate it, but an option would’ve been nice.

We are staying in Manhattan for vacation and today we decided to eat here for early dinner before our show start at 8. We had to take subway for like 30 min and walk like another 10 min. This place is in downtown in the residential area. It’s really a whole in the wall . We passed it two times and didn’t see it. We thought they are close because it’s so dark. When we got there it was 5 pm and the place was completely empty. I wasn’t sure if we should even stay. The food got ready in 30 minutes. It was a good burger but I think it’s over rated!

Unilocal photos brought me here, only to find that the the burgers are basically flavorless faux-Runzas and the beet ketchup sucks. I wanted to love it, but just ended up thinking about the places I should have gone as I was punching my PIN number into the in-restaurant ATM as they don’t accept plastic.

What a bizarre spot. I walked in last night with two friends around 9 p.m. and we were literally the only people in there. For NYC and for such a legendary burger, this seemed odd. What was more odd you ask? The burger’s were AWESOME. Yes, vacant joint serving one of the more unique and delicious burgers I’ve had in a long time. The menu is small and there are only three beers to choose from. The side items we had were good, but a little bland. Who cares though, as we went for the burgers and they freaking delivered. Recommendation: Otto, fried, hot sauce.

I’ve been thinking of burgers a lot lately, also searching for new burger joints locally. And it got me thinking of a place I visited in New York several months ago. Yes, after almost a year I still dream about this burger. I remember that I wasn’t that hungry before entering this place. I think I was still full from brunch and snacking. But with the quenching of a house ale, the limited appetizer intake, the art of deep fried bread, the smell of perfectly cooked meat, the juiciness of medium rare meat, and the taste of one of the best burgers I’ve had… I was able to exhume this burger with no problem. For me, it was a burger like no other. I hope my dream becomes a reality… again. And soon!

5 stars for a burger joint! Korzo Haus is truly a hidden gem and the burgers served here stand out among all the other burgers I’ve had before. You get the option of choosing your burger fried or grilled but regardless of which one you choose, rest assured you’ll be indulging in a perfectly seasoned and oh so juicy patty! The bun in which the burgers are served are the same whether you go fried or grilled but one can easily be fooled as the texture is completely different. Fried-burgers are served halved and in what resembles a pita pocket. Because the bun is also fried, you get the contrast in texture between the chewiness of the dough from the bun and the crispiness of the exterior. The patty and dressings fit perfectly. This is the more popular option but feel free to choose as your heart desires! Grilled-burgers are served whole and in the same bun but grilled. The bun is soft but not too soft and chewy with a bite. The patty is also juicy and well complemented with its accompanying dressings. Aside from the burgers, noteworthy items also include the sweet potato fries and halusky. The halusky reminds me very much like a mix between gnocchi and mac n cheese. If you’re a fan of either one of those, give this bad boy a try! Oh and of course, their ‘haus’ made beet ketchup is delish! Purely made from beets! Yummmmm!

I was watching an episode of Burger Land on Travel Channel where George Motz was going around NYC looking for some really good burgers. That was when I saw him go to Korzo Haus in Brooklyn with their famous Slovakian Burgers. Once I heard that these burgers were deep fried, I was immediately sold and knew I had to come here during my trip to NYC. Luckily the original Korzo Haus was conveniently located in the East Village so my friends and I didn’t have to travel far from our hotel – Out of all the places we visited during our summer trip to NYC(Katz’s, Shake Shack, Ippudo, etc.), Korzo Haus was on the top of my list of must-visits. First off, what is a Slovakian Burger? According to their website, it’s a grass-fed burger surrounded by Langos — A Fine Bread Made According To An Old Slovak Family Recipe, brought To NYC by the owners, Otto & Maria Zizak In 1990, and are prepared either grilled or deep fried. Essentially it’s like a cross between a Beef Wellington and a Piroshki, with a burger inside and deep fried. Sounds good, doesn’t it??? I decided to go with theThe Original Korzo Burger – Original korzo-blend beef patty, applewood-smoked bacon, allgauer emmentaler cheese, korzo organic ale mustard, dill pickle. OMGYUM!!! You guys have no idea how good this is until you try it! The fried bread had a nice chew to it and the burger was extremely juicy and flavorful along with the melted cheese and bacon. So much going on with the burger. And also I was really impressed with how huge this burger was. George Motz must have big hands because it looked a lot smaller on TV. I also ordered the Fried Halusky which is basically Deep Fried Spatzle – These were a great side to go with the Korzo Burger. And went so well with their house made Beet Ketchup. This was probably the best burger I’ve had in all of NYC. Yes, I’m probably gonna get slammed by even saying that I enjoyed this more than Shake Shack. There, I said it! It ranks up there with my Top 10 burgers of all time! The experience was amazing and I would definitely fly back to NYC for another trip to Korzo Haus.

Fried burgers here are amazing! This place is small, 3 small tables(sits 2) and 2 bigger tables(probably sits 4 each). They menu is simple; burgers and fries with a few starters. Drinks; beer or coke(no diet bs). Cash only! They do have veggie burger as an fyi. We tried their original burger, dumplings and sweet potato fries. The burger is amazing! The fried flat bread wow, works so well with the gooey cheese and meat. Everyone else recommended the beets ketchup, but I liked the curry(not sure what exactly it was) but the spicier sauce. That was a great combo with burger and fries. Great burgers come with a price, these baby cost $ 15 each and does not include side. So yeah, thats some expensive meat! Come check it out and enjoy a beer or two.

I’ve never had a one night stand. For fear of catching [list STDs here], meeting a psychopath, compromising my principles or … the bf might just kill me. But if I EVER do, I hope it’s just like the Korzo Burger: it’ll keep my mouth busy, be seriously beefy, juicy and delicious with every bite. And smothered all over with beet ketchup. Satisfaction … guaranteed.

Hole in the wall burger place that was PHENOM. It’s super small with really sketchy lighting and seating and a menu with minimal choices. BUT, the waiters are actually Slovakian and there were a good number of people squished in this burger joint. I got the Original burger rare. And it was drenched. I loved it! [1] There were four burgers on the menu and I know I’m going back to try the other three. It was an amazing experience. It isn’t even just the meat and the wonderfully melted cheese or the fresh toppings. It just blended in such a wonderful way that is rather indescribable. I usually detest toppings and stick with the classic burger, but they have mastered this art. Was this the best burger I’ve ever had? No. Was it a little overpriced? Yes. So I docked a star. They were also rather slow with getting us our orders, which peeved me a little as I was starving. [1] Very often I would order a rare burger but get a medium rare rare burger. It’s pink but no blood is flowing — not okay.

Korzo Haus have few selection of food items, but they’re all made with high quality ingredients, and really, where else can you find a deep fried burger? The burger: It’s a gigantic deep fried, thin, chewy Hungarian dough-pocket(Langos) jammed with a thick slab of burger meat & toppings, served in halves. The beef patty is ridiculously moist and juicy, and the exterior fried dough delightfully light and chewy(and let me emphasize: deliciously FRIED). The Langos, although thin, is still able to hold the juices from the burger and does not fall apart so every bite is juicy, savory, beefy, doughy, fried, perfect. The Slav burger would be perfect for those with a heavier palate. Their sauerkraut is phenomenal(those lovely hints of peppercorn!), and the cheese creamy and salty. The Original Korzo burger was less fancy, but a very solid burger brought to life by their organic ale mustard(and really, who doesn’t like bacon?). Condiments: the beet«ketchup» is simply divine! It’s nothing like traditional ketchup, but gives a fresh contrast to the deliciously greasy burger. The smear of garlic mayo on the side of the plate also makes everything even better than it already is, because garlic makes everything better! I appreciate the cows they source from are grass-fed, and all condiments are made in-house. We definitely walked out feeling fat and happy and spent the rest of the evening in a blissful food coma. Next time, I think I’ll split a burger with a friend so I can also fit their ale in my tummy & try the appetizers. Actually, maybe I’ll just indulge my inner fat kid and have it all. ***CASHONLY***

**omfg** If I had to be faithful to a nice cut of meat, I don’t think i wouldn’t have any qualms having Korzo as my main squeeze. I stopped by for lunch and luckily for me I didn’t have to wait for a table. I decided to split the Original burger because we were planning on food hopping that day. I think it was a good decision because I’m pretty sure I would have had gotten meat sweats if I finished everything. The burger came simply dressed(naked), bacon, cheese and served with fried halusky. The best way to describe halusky is to compare them to the crunchy bits you get when you order fish and chips. They’re fried potato dumplings and they’re ridiculously addicting. The condiments here are unique because instead of the typical tomato ketchup, they serve house made beet ketchup. It’s definitely different and takes a little getting used to. I’m addicted to their hot sauce. I wish I could buy a bottle. Hmm wonder if they’ll give it to me. :P Overall, I think this place is great. Korzo serves great burgers and their condiments help their food shine even more brightly.

This sliver of a restaurant feels like a pub, serves up Hungarian, and happens to be known for a deep-fried burger. A nice fit for its East Village neighborhood. Not much wider than a hallway, the dining room is past a small row of bar seats. Between walls of mottled brick sits a larger communal table on one side and three two-tops on the other. Casual and homey. Service friendly and low-key. The Korzo burger has its meat and toppings encased in langos, a Hungarian flat bread, then deep-fried. Served sliced in two, propped up so the glistening red of the burger grabs the table’s attention on arrival. The flatbread is pleasingly crisp on the outside, with a good bun-to-meat ratio, and nothing dripping out the sides since its perfectly encased. The meat was perfectly medium-rare and juicy. Not show-stopping, but these are very good burgers, different from the usual in a good way. The burger choices vary by house-made toppings: Original(bacon burger: bacon, pickle, mustard, Emmentaler cheese), The Slav(Hungarian style: pork neck, sauerkraut, caraway, juniper berries, Bryndza cheese), The Otto(American cheese, iceberg, onion, tomato, hot pepper aioli), and Haus Veggie. No comments on the veggie, but despite some interesting choices, the taste of the other three were surprisingly mild-mannered, and didn’t distinguish from each other as much as you’d think. If choosing, the Original was the overall favorite, followed by The Slav. The burgers can be had unfried, but that was vastly inferior to the deep-fried version. There’s more to the menu than burgers, and I’ve heard brunch is a good experience here. To go with our burgers, there was a very good spicy Hungarian goulash, tender and strongly spiced. Pierogis were fine; fresh toppings, decent dumplings. Fried halusky, deep-fried little chunks of batter subbed in for typical fries, chewy and interesting; depends on your mileage but probably not a repeat choice for me. Fun place, fun food, low-key experience. And a burger that should make it to any must-try burger list for NYC.
