Koodo is my go to in Fidi for happy hour. There food tastes great with a few cocktails. I always sit at the bar to the left when you walk in the bartenders are always super friendly. My first time there, I went to pick up some Chinese and the owner invited me in for a drink. Now every time I’m in the mood for Asian fusion this is my spot. The don’t have just one but THREE menus, sushi, Chinese, and Thai. And the food is all made fresh and you’ll defiantly have enough for left overs. The bar is a great atmosphere with the most friendly people in Manhattan you will find, a great place to bring friends from out of town! Decent prices.

Recently renovated. Staff in dining room friendly and service good. But … new bartender is clueless. Friend and I went in for lunch — a routine spot for us. Bar tender said they don’t serve sake at the bar and that I would have to go to dining room or get it myself from dining room and bring it to bar where she can order food. I’m sure this is a training issue with a new employee but it so moronic that we left and not been back since; we found another Japanese place for lunch and co-workers/group can meet in bar.

Best crab rangoon that I’ve had in a while. Sushi is yummy. Just recently tried the Thai food and it was decent. They have this weird little bar that’s separate from the dining area. It’s tucked away around a corner area that you have to pass, when you take the stairs down from the street. Really janky and myserious. There also appears to never be anyone dining in there for dinner when I go pick up my takeout. The food is on point. Decent sushi. The lunch special has bigger rolls, they seem to make them smaller for dinner. But it is my go-to place for light, crispy, packed full of goodness, crab rangoon. So 4 stars for that!

Had a chance to try quite a few dishes in this hidden spot and overall WOOHOO! The food is tasty and veggies done perfectly. I am not always a fan of tofu but theirs was spot on in the«Basil Vegetable Tofu» dish. Their Sapporo ramen was pretty good as well. I enjoy their Pad Thai and my only complaint is the noodles getting stuck together when i do takeout.

Hours are wrong on Unilocal,in addition to the posted lunch times they are open for dinner from 5:00PM to 10:00PM. Dinner here is empty because you can better better food at a cheaper price elsewhere. However if you are like me and want a nice quiet place after work to eat dinner, the food is decent enough that I don’t mind paying a little extra for some peace and quiet.

I don’t live in NYC but I make sure to visit when I’m in town. The best sushi I’ve ever had and the service is amazing.

— — — Overall Verdict: SERVICE: Very friendly and sweet VENUE: Sub-terrain; nothing too spectacular FOOD: Subpar ADDITIONALINFORMATION: Entrance is on Nassau VERDICT: I’ve definitely had better. I wasn’t blown away by the food, the venue was unmemorable but our server was such a sweetheart and saved the entire experience from being completely unsatisfying. — — — Experience/Service: My friend and I arrived around 12:15pm for lunch on the streets of Nassau. I open the door that leads to Koodo Sushi and think, «This place seems somewhat sketchy». It was quiet, somewhat dirty, and hidden. You’d have to go down the stairs before actually entering the restaurant. As I approached the actual entrance, I thought that the place is empty. I did not notice any other patrons. But once we stepped inside, we were greeted by the host immediately and led towards the back where I saw a populated room of lunch patrons. It’s a relatively big space, with several rooms to have guests dine-in. Our server was very kind and accommodating — she freely offered suggestions, happily provided us with more time to review the menu and set our expectations(i.e when we ordered our food, she immediately told us that they are a little backlogged so we will just get whichever dish finishes up first) — — — Food: We ordered the following(ranked in the order they came out): — Dumplings: Not bad, but not the best. This had about 6 pieces. — Pad See Eue: My favorite out of everything we ordered. It wasn’t too sweet and had enough flavor to keep me satisfied. However, compared to other pad see eue’s I’ve had, this certainly wasn’t the best and at times had bland pieces. — Sushi Lunch: Ugh. This was not fresh nor was it at all satisfying. These were some of the worst sushi/sashimi I’ve had.

Hidden fun in FiDi. I can’t comment on the food, as I usually come here for drinks, but the bar area always has the liveliest, friendliest group of patrons in town. Cheap drinks at the bar, the bartender is always welcoming.

Great for the price and area. I had the braised duck with mushrooms and the scallion pancake. The duck wasn’t super fatty like that served by many of the other restaurants in FiDi. The scallion pancake may have been the best I’ve ever had. All of the ingredients were fresh. This is a «Sushi Bar» but their menu is extensive. They offer Thai, Chinese, Japanese, & Korean dishes All in all — this isn’t the best place you’ll find. But it’s great for the area and you probably won’t be disappointed. The prices good and the portions are generous.

The woman up front tries to do too many things and is always flustered. Today, she took my order and I waited 20 minutes. She comes up to me and asked me what I ordered. 10 minutes more later she comes out with my order. They have pretty decent lunch take-out specials for the area, but is it worth a 30 minute wait? No.

It was pretty delicious! Very unassuming menu, e.g. «chicken in garlic sauce» without any frivolous«roasted chicken soaked in aromatic authentic Chinese garlic sauce served over long grain rice» — but tastes very good! Pretty addicting food ;) Prices are very reasonable(e.g. $ 9), service is quick, and you get the benefit of a sit-down restaurant atmosphere. Would come again!(and my friends from training did come in like every day for lunch ^^)

Not amazing, not horrible. Sushi here is fresh enough to not stop ordering but won’t blow you away to come here voluntarily more than once every few months. Good thing to know is that the rolls are quite large, so just two rolls will be more than enough for a hungry person. Good option for a quick lunch special, but if you ever stop inside it’s nothing to write home about. Kind of dark and a bit creepy in the basement of a building.

Mmmm, mysterious sushi from a dark basement bar. You know it has to be good sushi because there’s no way they’d survive based on their appearance. 3 rolls of fresh sushi plus miso soup for less than $ 13 for lunch is a great deal in this area, where you’re this close to Wall Street. Those Goldman Sachs guys wouldn’t be caught dead in this place, which makes it that much sweeter.

The place was really hot when I went, but you get used to it. I got the pad-thai(medium spicy) and it was surprisingly good! It was a bit too spicy for me, but was still ok. The sushi, however, was not very good. My friend got a spicy roll combo and it looked like they blended up the fish together(maybe that’s the way its supposed to be), neither of us was a fan. Unfortunately we did not get to try the drinks there, which I heard were pretty good.

I love this place, come every time I’m in the area. You can get Chinese, Japanese, or Thai. It’s hidden so it’s never jam packed and the service is excellent. The wait staff speaks English(a rarity in this city) and they are FAST! Lunch specials galore(I always get lunch for under $ 12) and just one block from broadway!

Went to koodo sushi on a Friday night with my husband. At first we missed the entrance because their sign was hung a little high. Their restaurant entrance is a basement entrance. When we sat, there was a company party going on so the kitchen was busy. So It depends what day and time you go. Our server was really nice and polite. The menu was very diverse, ranging from different Asian courses like Japanese, vietnamese, Chinese etc.

Yes, it seems a little troubling that you can order any dish or food you could imagine from the entire continent of Asia from an underground restaurant in the Financial District. But this place is surprisingly good. Normally when I see a place with sushi that’s also cooking up Chinese food or Thai food, I avoid it like the plague. They usually end up making everything mediocre to terrible. Not only is this place an exception, but they actually have entire full menus devoted to each country — pick up the Koodo Sushi one if you want Japanese, Koodo Kitchen for Chinese, or Lemon Leaves for Thai. We wanted some sushi on a Sunday night, when most of the neighborhood is dead, but I noticed that this place around the corner was one of the few that was open. We got a bunch of special rolls, which were all pretty tasty. Maybe they’ve improved over the last few years since the barrage of brutal Unilocal reviews, because it tasted perfectly fine to me. The rice was cooked well and the fish was fresher than you would expect from a place with 200+ items on the menu. The Salmon Skin($ 4.50) was tasty, and the Eel Lover($ 16) was a great version of a Dragon Roll. Since the experience was good, we went back for Chinese the next day, which also didn’t disappoint. The Boneless Honey Ribs($ 9) were awesome — a large portion of that addictive BBQ pork with that sweet sweet sauce. Among the many other dishes we got, the Beef with Bean Curd($ 11.50) was also excellent. Aside from the food though, one of the things that sets this place apart is Michelle, the talkative and very friendly woman handling the takeout orders. One thing I don’t understand that I’ve finally learned is that she always says the order will be ready in 10 minutes no matter how big it is, when it clearly ends up taking longer. No need to lie — in fact, tell me longer and I will be happy when it’s done earlier. Anyway, she keeps you amused if you arrive early for your takeout and she even gives you a free bottle of cold water while you wait. This kind of treatment is unprecedented in the world of Asian takeout food. This place isn’t exactly cheap, but it is a very solid, convenient choice for the Financial District. I’ll be back soon, there’s still an entire Thai menu I have yet to try.
