Been there many times. Prix fixed menu is unbeatable! Almost wanted to cry when I heard they’re closed.

Got a chance to visit this place on my friend’s birthday. First, we were amazed by a unique interior in dark shades. Atmosphere is very calm and more romantic. Second, they have very wide vegetarian menu(a tip for animal loves). I got tofu and avocado salad. Both dishes were delicious. Very nice serving style and cute beverage glasses end up my rate with 5 out of 5.

Went for Saturday the All-You-Can-Drink(AYCD) Brunch with a couple of friends. Speaking of which, is there really any other kind of Brunch worth doing? I don’t get places that don’t have it! Anyway, I was a little wary walking in, since I hadn’t realized it was in a hotel, but my fears proved to be completely unfounded! The service was beyond top-notch, the food was excellent, and our glasses were rarely empty. I will be coming back with anyone that visits and wants a real NYC Brunch.

–Want to impress a date? Bring them here – ambience is breath-taking –Want to enjoy really good quality dishes? Come here – From appetizer to dessert I was blown away. Portion sizes aren’t the biggest though. –Want to be rushed off by inattentive attractive waiters? Come here – don’t even know my waiter’s name but he must’ve had a hot date after our meal because he was in and out in a heartbeat *I can’t comment on the price but I came here for restaurant week awhile back and I forgot what we ordered from the pre-fixed menu but I can assure you it was outstanding from start to finish. And for only $ 30, it was worth the value. Only reason for 4 stars was the service. I will be back!

Gotta love restaurant week for giving me the chance to come back and do a 3 course dinner for $ 38, but I am still not impressed my Kittichai. My party and I had a reservation for 4 at 6:00PM on a Thursday, but one in our party was running late. The staff refused to seat us explaining that during restaurant week they had so much traffic that we just could not sit at the table without the whole party. We waited 45 minutes for our friend, standing in the bar without ordering anything. The most annoying thing however was that the restaurant was no where near busy!!! There were plenty of seats both inside and outside. I do understand that when big parties are late, and the restaurant is full part of the party can not be seated. However, we also explained that we were willing to order, we did not intend to sit without ordering. We still were not allowed to sit. Let’s just say the restaurant lost a lot of money because had we been seated we would have gone through at least one bottle, or a couple of drinks each. Although I absolutely love Thai food, my party and I had mixed feelings about our orders. Yes the food is tasteful, but when we ask if it is spicy and we get a no from the waitress and our food comes out spicy you can imagine our reaction. Luckily I do not have a problem with spicy food so I could still eat it. However, it is just disappointing that the staff at this location is not more accommodating. After two tries I am giving up at Kittichai. I wont be coming back.

I gave it 4 stars because the ambiance of this place is amazing. The décor was gorgeous. I actually came for restaurant week a while ago and enjoyed the atmosphere immensely. I had the duck confit to start, which was delicious. It was interesting in the flavor and the stuffing. This starter was unexpected but surprisingly enjoyable taste. I then ordered the braised pork cheek and ended with the jasmine panna cotta. To be honest, the braised pork cheek reminded me of a hirata bun. I think that they could have been more creative with this dish. The way they caramelized it made it a tad too sweet for my taste. They definitely could’ve done something to spice it up. The jasmine panna cotta was very light and was a refreshing way to end the meal. Overall, a thumbs up to Kittichai.

It’s been 3(way too long) years since I last ate at Kittichai but fate brought us back together when I happened to visit the city during the start of NY Restaurant Week. I would later find out that this is the same menu offered by Kittichai on certain weeknights — they actually have a few«prix fixe» menus to choose from. The ambience is every bit as beautiful as I remembered it to be — dim lighting, candles everywhere, and the pièce de résistance: the lily pond in the middle of the restaurant. When dining here, it feels quite intimate despite being surrounded by the other diners. Some of the tables are pretty close together but it’s better than most NYC establishments. Our waitress was professional and friendly. We got our orders taken quickly and, since we opted for the wine pairing, always had wine arrive prior to each course. For appetizers, my boyfriend got the sour sausage lettuce wraps and I got the prawn cakes. My bf loved his and really appreciated how spicy the seasoning was. My prawn cakes were a little oily, but well balanced by the addictive sweet chili sauce. For the main course, I got the braised pork cheek(which was served with steamed buns — my favorite!) and bf got the organic chicken curry. Again, he raved about how well seasoned his curry was and the proportion of chicken to veggies. My pork cheek dish was so tender and the sauce was… perfection. Finally, dessert. My bf got the banana spring rolls and honey ice cream which I had tried before and a must-taste. The honey ice cream is unmatched. This time, I opted for the sticky rice with mango ice cream. To my surprise, the sticky rice was baked into a mini tart with crispy crust! YUMMM. Such a creative take on one of my favorite Asian sweets. We left stuffed and super satisfied. It’s rare to see a restaurant show such consistency throughout the years but I’m thankful to have found such an amazing restaurant in the heart of Soho.

If I could give a zero I would… especially after no response from the general manager on a follow up email. Seems like they honestly don’t give a crap about their patrons pre, during, or post meal. Here is my letter to the GM following this weeks’ disaster… Kittichai-again. From start to finish, from food to customer service, nothing was acceptable for what should be considered a quality dining experience. Especially given the fact that Kittichai is considered a $ 50 and up establishment on Opentable. To me, that says this should be a high caliber dining experience. I’ve had better dinners at diners in NYC than I had with you last evening. I first want to address the negligence of customer care by the manager on duty. As a manager of what was thought to be a high-end establishment, you need to treat your customers complaints and opinions with a level of dignity and respect. While trying to relay our concerns to him that evening we were greeted with rolling eyes, limited to no eye contact, aloof body language, and the an overall«I don’t feel like dealing with this» attitude. The hospitality and restaurant industries are about customer service and providing an overall positive experience. There was nothing positive about anything he was doing. First, we ordered your prix fixe menu w/wine pairings, the wine never came out on time with the food, we had to wait for our drinks following our foods’ delivery. The waitress failed to ever tell us what we were drinking and we had to repeatedly ask. Given that this is set up as a wine pairing with the 3-course meal, I would expect some description of the wines that are being given with our meal. But we got nothing. During our second course, one of the steaks that was ordered at medium cooking temp came out nearly rare, and while we would have liked to let the waitress know that we were dissatisfied with the preparation, at no point during our second course did she ever come back to check on how we were doing, pretty standard protocol that should be observed throughout a meal. This was when we got the manager involved. We called him over and we were greeted by his disgruntled attitude that said he wanted nothing to do with us. Following our conversation he said he would see what he could do. We waited another 15 – 20 mins before our dessert course came, which like the rest of the evening’s events, was also less than desirable. All the ice cream on the plates, like the banana spring rolls, was already melted. It was a mess. And you’d like to think that following our initial complaint that the staff and service would step it up to mediate the issues. We called the manager over a 2nd time, again, his less than thrilled approach to talk with us was the most rude interaction I’ve experienced. We got our check and he gave us what looked to be about a 15% discount, in my opinion and the rest of the diners, a slap given the disaster of a meal we endured. We spoke with him one final time hoping he could rectify this a little bit further. His attitude stunk of frustration and he floundered to find any semblance of being a customer service professional. I’m beyond appalled by last night’s meal. And for this establishment being in a such a high trafficked area, and high profile hotel, you better think about the product and personnel you are putting before the public. And a few other small things to add to the dissatisfaction, being place a booth with torn up benches, silverware was dumped in piles on the table for us to give out to ourselves, not something you would expect of a restaurant of your price point. No one ever came to wipe down our table in between courses, another thing that should be customary for your pricing. Yes. Kittichai-again. Oh wait. There can’t be an again when you won’t ever go back.

Bottomless brunch was great, especially the lychee bellinis — but the waiter could have been faster with the refills. Brunch food options are pretty average, to be honest we just come here for the cocktails. The chicken in my Pad Thai was undercooked and basically inedible. Avoid the hangar steak on the brunch menu — it’s very small, shriveled, and not well cooked, even though it’s an extra 6 dollars. in summary, come for the bottomless cocktails and the classy, pretty décor.

Wonderful restaurant for brunch! Went here for brunch with my coworkers. $ 25 for bottomless drinks + entrée. The lychee bellinis were seriously amazing and delicious, and very unique too. Most places are just mimosas(kittichai does have mimosas as well). The food was good. I had the curry chicken noodles. Décor inside was very funky and posh. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day, and this was lovely as well. I would definitely go back for brunch. I am also interested in going for dinner as I hear that is great too.

I have heard rave reviews about the $ 25 bottomless brunch, so I was eager try it out. Thai is one of my favorite cuisines, so combining it with unlimited cocktails is always a good time! I started with the Bloody Mary. It had a weird taste to it, so I ate the olive to cleanse my palate and moved ON. The Lychee Bellini was lovely — just the perfect amount of sweetness. I really enjoyed this one! I also tried the Blood Orange Mimosa. It was ok. Based on the color, I doubt it was anything more than regular OJ. After looking at the different brunch options, I decided to go the savory route. The Shrimp Pad Thai was delicious. Melissa commented that the portions used to be much larger. It was quite tasty, so I would have been happy to have eaten more. This is a super hip spot but beware, since it is bottomless, some younger«just turned 21» folks come there that get super wasted and loud(at least that was our experience).

Stumbled into this restaurant on accident after being told at a hotel(The Marlton) that they had oversold their hotel and they didn’t have our room … then we found the 60 Soho(which we loved) and this restaurant is in the same building. Sausage wraps and tuna tartare were outstanding. Fresh, extremely(but not too) flavorful. My husband enjoyed the palm-sugar soy marinated sea bass with mushrooms, although he found the sauce to be a bit heavy-handed. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked. I ordered the barbeque baby back ribs with a tamarind glaze and fried basil. Some of the ribs were tender, others were not. It seemed to me that that they had either been over par-cooked to begin with, or overcooked in the reheating process(and maybe even microwaved(!) after par-cooking, as some of the ribs had a gray rubberiness to them under all the sauce). And, the sauce was, again, too heavy-handed. I’d skip this dish next time. The fried rice with pork, scallions and cashews were very good and light — even better when I doctored it up a bit with the chilies in fish sauce(part of a condiment tray they brought me only after I asked for it). Wine list is so so, but we found a nice French red burgundy(Nuits St. Georges). Very good service all around. Modern décor. Outdoor seating(although not being used the night we were there), bar with restaurant further back in larger space without windows. Definitely would return.

I came here for dinner recently and also to redeem my groupon voucher. The voucher was for $ 80 and it included, 2 appetizers/main courses/desserts and 1 bottle of wine. We chose a red wine and it wasn’t too bad. The waiter we had and also other waiters were very attentive and would refill our glasses when they saw our glasses getting low. In fact, our overall service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and patient with us. I sat outside last time and we chose to sit inside this time. The inside is very nice and it is a perfect date spot. Shrimp tempura — this dish was not what I was expecting, but it was good. We had several pieces of shrimp(think the kind of shrimp you would see in a shrimp casserole during dim sum). It was lightly battered and they drizzled some type of sauce over it. I guess I wasn’t too sure what to expect and I was expecting the Japanese version of shrimp tempura. I would recommend this dish since you get a lot of value out of this dish. House made cod«noodles», citrus green curry froth, Thai pesto — this dish was a little disappointing since I was expecting something out of this world. It was a little bland for my tastes since I couldn’t really taste the curry/thai pesto. The presentation was lovely though. Crispy whole fish, galangal dressing, green mango salad, cashews — I wasn’t too sure what to expect with this dish, but I’ve seen Thai crispy whole fish before and always wanted to try it. My favorite part of this dish was that it was legitimately a whole fish and there was no bone. The fish was pretty tasty, not too fried and just right. I would recommend trying this dish. Soy marinated Chilean seabass, palm sugar-soy sauce, wild mushrooms, tomato confit — I love Chilean seabass and if I have the opportunity to order it, I will. The seabass was good, but it wasn’t melt in your mouth good like other places. Maybe at that point I was already so full so maybe that’s why? There was also a heavy sauce which I didn’t really care for since it was sweet. I don’t like sweet sauces and I felt that overpowered the taste of the seabass. If only the sauce was on the side, maybe I would have liked this dish a little more. Stir-fried jasmine rice, green onions, pork sausage, cashews — instead of getting plain white rice, we opted for this rice dish to try. It’s not too bad, but it was nothing special. The portion at the price of $ 7 was okay. I would just stick to white rice next time. Banana spring rolls with burnt honey ice cream — this was pretty tasty! The bananas are sliced and fried in a spring roll skin. The ice cream it is served with compliments it well. Thai tea panna cotta, pine nut praline, basil sugar — I really wanted to like this dish since I loved Thai tea, but the panna cotta was a little too sweet for my liking. You can definiltey taste the thai tea though. I say this dish is good to try, but remember to have a glass of water next to you. Overall, the groupon we had was a great deal and we had a very lovely dinner. I’m glad we got to try these dishes and I’m glad we were able to choose off the regular menu. I really dislike it when places force you to pick from certain dishes only. This doesn’t give the diner the true dining experience so they can see if they want to come back in the future. I think I’ll just stick to the brunches if I come back. Dinner was good, but it’s been checked off my list and there are other places I want to try before coming back.

One of the most iconic NYC dining experiences is the one known as the«bottomless brunch». Legalities aside(yes, weekend brunch can be considered a «special event», which allows establishments to bypass this law), Kittichai has one of the better options for it, offering diners a brunch entrée and unlimited drinks(within a fixed 90 minute period) for a mere $ 25. One of my friends was able to reserve several tables for her birthday brunch, which saved me the hassle of trying to coordinate a meal on my own. Kittichai’s interior is particularly worth noting, making it one of the most upscale Thai restaurants that NYC has to offer. The dining room is gorgeous, with plenty of glossy wooden tables, a flawless floor, and parallel beams in the ceiling that allow sunlight to come through during the daytime. As many others have already noted, the center of the room features a gorgeous pool that will occasionally have floating candles dotting its surface area; at night, it makes for quite the atmosphere, especially if you’re looking to impress. During the daytime, however, it’s much more of a trendy, scene-y place — to be fair, one that I don’t typically find myself in. For brunch, the restaurant offers an array of the traditional brunch items you’d find as well as a several Thai dishes regularly found on their lunch and dinner menu. Unsure of how modernized and altered some of the Thai dishes might be, I decided on the Three Egg Omelette. The plate came with several halves of toasted white bread as well as a serving of sauteed onions and red peppers, and cutting into the omelette revealed a myriad of ingredients: tomatoes, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and ham, and Swiss cheese. It’s hard to mess up an omelette(which Kittichai did not), but I was a little disgruntled at the uneven cooks on the ingredients; mushrooms should not be cooked for less time than tomatoes, for example. The staff did a commendable job handling our group, however. Despite having a group of over 15 diners, glasses were hardly ever empty and ad hoc orders of bloody mary’s were handled promptly as well. And needless to say, as the afternoon rolled around, the entire dining room was entirely filled; reservations are pretty much necessary to secure a table on a weekend afternoon. While I’ve sated my curiosity for the time being, I can definitely say Kittichai has its merits, especially for those looking forward to a boozy afternoon.

Indeed, another one of those chic and classy restaurants; Amazing ambiance and décor. I stayed here in the hotel right upstairs and ordered room services like it was the last day I had to live. Service was great! Staffs were very attentive and friendly. Management for this restaurant was very well-established and made my experience that much better. Food wise, it was definitely a great experience as well. They had a huge variation of food entrees and drinks to choose from. Thai food here was definitely unordinary, in a good way versus the general Pad Thai or Coconut rice I’ve been used to. I’m also amazed at the fact they infused a lot of exotic Asian ingredients like lychee and coconut into most of their dishes. They have specialty drinks like mimosas, Bellini, cocktails… etc. that were very well made and tasty, but their wine was average; nothing special Here are some of what I recommend: Main Entrees-Grilled Artic Char, Hanger Steak, Branzino Dessert– Warm chocolate lava cake I’ve rated this restaurant 4 stars not because of how amazing their food is, but because of how they try to set their selves apart from the majority of the Thai restaurants and the atmosphere/service made my experience that much better. Will definitely return one day to try more and update this review. Burnt honey ice cream at 3am? sounds odd, but who would of knew was that good!

The last time I visited Kittichai, my girlfriends and I got all dressed up for what we described as fancy dinner date. Fast forward 4 yrs later, here we were, celebrating the end of my bachelorette weekend with my favorite meal of the week — boozy brunch. The restaurant was well decorated but much smaller than I remembered. My maid of honor who was visiting from dc was really taken back by the ambiance — classy, elegant, and interestingly, everyone dining looked like models. We were seated in a back corner booth which happened to be blocked out by mirrors(it felt like we were in private room — very intimate). Aside from the $ 25 aycd brunch option, we learned that they were also offering $ 25 three course lunch special(not sure if they offer this option all the time since it labeled RW(restaurant week) next to the lunch section). A major plus was that not everyone in the party had to choose the same option. So in the end, two thirsty girls went with brunch and three much hungrier girls went with three courses. We were for the most pat impressed by all the drinks and food! They were generous in serving my girls with the drinks — they were allowed to switch and try another before finishing(they straight up just gave them another glass — yay to double fisting encouragement). The servers were great in refilling and running over with pitchers after pitchers. My two girls just couldn’t stop raving how tasty the lychee Bellini and blood orange mimosas were! As for the food — I had the prawn cake, hanger steak, and chocolate fondant cake paired with lychee sorbet. The prawn cakes(they were more like fried shrimp balls) were a bit dry but with the paired sweet sauce, they were pretty tasty! For some reason, all our food were a bit cold — especially my hanger steak entrée. The steak was cooked perfectly but wasn’t as good as it could had been if served fresh off the grill. Same thing with my fondant cake — the supposedly melted warm gooey chocolate inside had already cooled down. Nevertheless I still enjoyed it especially with the refreshing not too sweet lychee sorbet pairing! Overall, $ 25 for aycd brunch/3 course lunch options is definitely a steal here in Kittichai! Would definitely return to try out the brunch deal myself!

Went here for restaurant week, not bad of a menu selection for only $ 38 to try on restaurant week. Made reservations at 9, didn’t seat us til exactly 9:30 but atleast the host was sorry about it. Anyways on to the food, everything was average ok for Thai food. I had the braised pork cheek with the buns they usually give you for Peking duck. It’s very salty if you fork it alone without using the bun. My bf got the chili-smoked hanger steak cooked to perfection, but the meat quality itself was still just a tad bit on the chewy side. however great in flavor with lemongrass like and chili spice. My favorite part was actually the dessert, the jasmine tea panna cotta was so good I loved it! Their drinks are kinda interesting and pretty good, I liked the muddle graped drink another thai icetea martini. The seating by the water pond table was nice. I don’t know if I would really actually come here to eat on any other day on their normal pricing for the food. Though I heard good thing’s about their unlimited boozy brunch deal maybe I’ll give that a try.

Came here for my birthday with my family and my boyfriend during restaurant week. I LOVED the décor in this restaurant. Very intimate and relaxing place to eat. If you’re unsure as to whether you’re entering the Thompson Hotel entrance or the actual restaurant entrance, follow the bottled orchids :-). We saw a few people that seemed to be confused as they were walking over. App: duck confit salad. Loved. I never had pieces of lychee with duck but they complimented one another nicely. Entrée: crispy whole branzino. This was a little heavy for me but I still enjoyed it. The galangal dressing gave it a spicy kick and added a hint of citrus to the dish. Dessert: warm chocolate lava cake with thai basil ice cream. I was already full by this point so I could not finish the lava cake, although it was very rich. I did absolutely love the thai basil ice cream and force fed myself every bit of that. Great service and friendly staff. I’d go back.

We decided that we were going to attempt a RW lunch and dinner in one day, so we booked Kittichai last minute … and I’m so glad we did! The restaurant is GORGEOUS. You walk in through a live bamboo fence, which immediately transports you out of the Village and brings you to a dark, sexy restaurant in the depths of Southeast Asia. We were directed past a courtyard with a few tables, and into an elegantly chic lobby with orchids in colorful glass bottles & beautiful people manning the podium. We were a couple minutes late for our reservation, yet we were seated immediately in a cozy booth, which made our date feel that much more intimate.(Guys, take note!) The dining room was dimly lit, with accent lights everywhere. The centerpiece of the room was a shallow water pool with lotus leaves & floating candles. Just beautiful. Music playing in the background was loud enough to give it a modern vibe, but quiet enough to have conversation without yelling. And the restaurant was full, but didn’t feel crowded, and it looked like we weren’t the only couple having a Restaurant Week date night in the Village. _________________________________ APPETIZERS I ordered the Barbeque Baby Back Ribs & my boyfriend ordered the Prawn Cakes with Long Beans & Sweet Thai Chili Sauce. The prawn cakes were pretty tasty, but the ribs were just outstanding. The meat was so tender & the sauce was sweet with a little kick. Three ribs weren’t enough — I could’ve had an entire entrée! We both agreed that the ribs were much better than the prawn cakes. And I felt no shame at eating ribs off the bone wearing a nice dress! Between courses, the servers bring hot towels! Isn’t that wonderful? I thought it was a nice touch. Also my fingers were really dirty from the ribs lol. MAINCOURSES The entrees were excellent! I had the Braised Pork Cheek with Spiced Palm Sugar Braise, Steamed Buns, & Truffle Powder. He chose the Grilled Hanger Steak with Thai Hollandaise sauce, Roasted Beets, & Sweet Sesame Soy dressing. In this case, we each loved(and preferred) what we ordered. I tasted my guy’s hanger steak, and it was so tender & cooked perfectly. The Hollandaise sauce wasn’t to my liking, and I don’t care for beets … but the meat was good! A difference of opinion, I guess. But my braised pork cheek buns were some of the tastiest pork buns I’ve ever had. The tender meat, the sweet sauce, the delicious fat, the fluffy buns … my gosh. Just amazing. I’m practically begging you to order these buns! You won’t regret it. BONUSSIDEDISH We were kinda hooongry — and who eats Asian food without rice? — so thanks to our waiter’s recommendation, we also ordered a side off the regular menu: Stir-fried jasmine rice with green onions, pork sausage, & cashews. This may have been the best decision of the night. The rice was SOGOOD! The cashews were toasty & crunchy, and the rice was steaming & flavorful. We actually negotiated who would get the leftovers lol.(I won, yay!) DESSERT For dessert, we decided to order the Chef’s selection of ice cream & sorbets, & the Chocolate fondant cake with lychee sorbet in jasmine tea syrup. Both of the desserts were hit-or-miss. I liked the Coconut ice cream, but didn’t care for the Mango sorbet. The caramel ice cream was so-so. I had a few bites of the chocolate cake, but it was too dense for my tastes. My boyfriend was almost the opposite: he loved the mango, tolerated the caramel, and hated the coconut. He also had more of the chocolate cake than I did, but also thought it was a bit too dense. _________________________________ All in all, we had a great experience at Kittichai for Restaurant Week. It was sexy, elegant, special … and the food was very good. I would love to come back here, maybe with a group? There are a few prix fixe tasting menus designed for groups, and I know some couples who would really enjoy a double date at Kittichai. Also, the Banana Spring Rolls weren’t on the Restaurant Week menu, and I’m pretty sure that we’re meant to be together. They look like a different take on Filipino turon, and I liveeee for turon! Kittichai, I’ll be back. Save a booth for me! :)

This review is for Sunday brunch. I had made a reservation for 3 people at 12:30. They don’t seat you until your entire party has arrived but once we were all there, we were seated immediately. The atmosphere of this restaurant seems a little swankier than your average Thai place. That being said, don’t be rolling in all sweaty after your gym workout! For this particular brunch session, we were celebrating a birthday — so of course, what’s a birthday without a little buzz? We all went with the $ 25 brunch prix fixe, which comes with an entrée(can choose from about 6 items) and unlimited blood orange mimosas, lychee bellinis, or bloody marys(for 1.5 hours). The great thing about Kittichai was that our glasses were never empty. Once they were only half full, it was like a mimosa ghost appeared from out of nowhere and filled you up again. At some AYCD brunch places, it’s like pulling teeth just to get a refill. Not here though. On to the food — I ordered the pad thai. The first bite was good. But as I was getting through the rest of the dish, it tasted like the chef had a heavy hand when pouring on the fish sauce. It made the noodles taste sour. Needless to say, my taste buds thanked me when I took the last bite. It’s a cool spot for brunch — not too loud(except maybe one girl at the next table. Yes — you, Girl with obnoxious laugh who had one too many mimosas!) It would be even better if they added more entrée choices for the prix fixe option. But if you’re looking to just have some Thai food, there are definitely other places out there that will give you a bigger bang for your buck!
