This place was super, super loud. It was really loud at the bar near the entrance but we figured it might be quieter in the back. My friends and I got our drinks and headed back to try to find a quiet spot. Every spot seemed to be just as loud, and we tried just about every corner(not too many patrons at 12:30 on Friday night). We didn’t even finish our beers before moving on to the next spot.

$ 5 for a beer and a shot before 9pm. Doesn’t get any better than this. It’s usually empty but it’s a Low key spot.

If you’re looking for a small, intimate venue this is a good place. I came here as a meeting point for my friends last Friday night. A little hard to find if you dont know where it is.(I cannot tell you how many times I have mindlessly walked by this spot and not realized it was a bar… not hard to do especially because it is in the basement of a building.) The night staff is friendly enough. The bouncer helped me decipher a drunk text message my friend in San Fran sent me… hey! Sometimes a girl needs a 2nd opinion… queue in the Carrie Branshawn voiceover here… Ok this spot doesn’t have much. They did not have Presecco per my friend’s order. They had some odd«red» for me and they made my friend’s Gimlet super light. The bathroom is werid and confussing. In the back there are 2 rooms that could be the bathroom(single use/occupancy), its the one on the right. d

Excuse my language, but how the F**K do I not know about this place sooner? I stopped by this place last month at 2AM, it was dead. I saw two ppl dancing their hearts out to a good song and thought this place has potential so I decided to have my birthday party here last Saturday and KINGSCROSSDIDN’T disappointed. I wasn’t sure if it would be hard for my friends to get in, so I made RSVP. The RSVP was easy, they emailed me back right away and there wasn’t any charge. This place is under the basement so you might not know it’s there when walked by. It’s small and narrow, with seats for about 12 ppl and a couch in another area. We got there at 10:45, just as the DJ took his post and played some very well liked dance able pop songs. The place was empty so we felt like we are having a private dance party for ourselves. Even after 30 min, all the good songs were still coming. I was thinking in my head, isn’t he going to run out of songs later in the night. Oh boy, how I was wrong. The DJ kept serving us one after another good song to dance to. The placed get packed by midnight. For being a small venue with good music, I was surprised that it didn’t get too packed. We all had space to dance. The placed got a little bit rowdy with some girls dancing on the couch and table but the bartenders didn’t seem to mind. Nothing got out of control. There were only two bathrooms, but the lines weren’t long. I didn’t by buy drinks but I think they are reasonably priced. The place clear out by 3AM. Not to mention, the bouncer seem really friendly when he checked my ID and none of my friends seem to have problem getting in. As for the DJ, HENEEDS a raise! I am not sure if that’s the stuffs he normally played, or he was giving the crowd what they wanted, but he sure delivered. He played a good mix of pop music(not your top 40) with some M.J. and some favors from 2000’s. It also feel like he changed the song sooner when the crowd wasn’t feeling it! Mr. DJ I don’t know who you are but you were toooo good!!! I would totally come back to this place to dance. Friendly bouncer, good music, not too packed, ppl being a little rowdy, HECKYEAH! what else do you want!!! WELLDONEKINGSCROSS!!! Well done!

If you’re looking for a small, intimate venue this is a good place. However, if there are lots of people it will get packed. I came here on one of the bone chilling days a few weeks back and made sure to get near the heater since if you were near the doors, it was FREEZING cold. They had a happy hour of free vodka drinks until 10 on the Tuesday night we went & people seemed to like those. I was able to get my free tap water so I was happy.

The first time I came here was this summer for the HH and then came back in later to dance. The door guy remembered us so let us in with no problems. I emailed the place and decided to celebrate my bday here a few weeks ago and despite having to go ‘card only’ since the wifi messed up the system I heard we all had a good time. I definitely am a fan.

Came here on a Gilt City voucher that was an open bar for 15 people. I would not recommend it if they ever run that deal again. We couldn’t start the two hours till the guy who had purchased the voucher arrived. Fair enough. Some people were trying to get buy drinks separately and the female bartenders were literally SCREAMING at them and telling them the open bar deal hadn’t started yet. Yes, you idiots, we know that. We’re trying to PAY for a separate drink. Once they realized we were going to buy a couple drinks before starting the open bar, they seemed even more frustrated. Not sure why, because they’re just getting tips off these drinks. This one bitchy blonde bartender then pours my friend an $ 11 vodka soda while he and I are both watching… I cannot even describe the quantity of vodka she poured. Microliters? Nanoliters? I don’t think there’s a measurement small enough. Obviously my friend was pissed and he called over another bartender… This guy grabbed a straw, tasted it, made a face, and then poured a bunch of vodka into his glass. At least he had enough sense to fix it. We finally started the open bar and yes, I realized they were swamped with 15 of us. Bartending was inconsistent. The blonde bartender from before kept pouring super weak drinks. I learned my lesson early on and went over to the guy who was doing a great job of managing the crowd and getting people’s drink orders. They stopped doing the open bar deal an hour and a half into it instead of the 2 hours we were promised. All in all, this place is TINY. There was a DJ and dance floor, but there were too many people in that bar that night to accommodate everyone. Not planning on returning here.

Not the Best, but not the worst. Received a gilt city voucher for up to 15 for an open bar. Thought I would try something new, the drinks and location were good, bar was eh. Would have been great if we were younger and in college, because that’s what the crowd was. Would probably only go back early after work, but not later in the evening.

Small basement bar nestled off Bowery. Don’t think much of it. Has one tv. One bar with some bar stools. Darkly lit. Aesthetics lack. The only ‘cool’ thing about it is the entrance. Very hidden between store fronts.

We came across this bar walking up Bowery looking for places to go bar hopping. The only way you know its there is by the neon«bar» sign above the basement staircase. As someone else said, the only interesting thing about this place is its entrance. I would also add, being a Harry Potter fan, I dig the name«King’s Cross.» Otherwise, meh. It’s very dark, there’s a lot of space but yet people were huddled together. It has a very NYU, people who didn’t graduate yet, vibe. My gin and tonic was $ 9 [a reasonable price for NYC] and my friend’s Jameson on the rocks was $ 10. The bartender didn’t bother us. It was just an ok experience. We didn’t stay very long and hightailed it out of there.

King’s Cross has a great $ 5 beer and shot deal before 10pm. We went on a Friday night and they had a killer DJ and a fairly large area to dance in the back. Small, dirty bathrooms but the bar had an overall fun vibe — will be going back for sure!

I went here at the completely wrong time of day so this might be a colored review. We went here right after work hours and it is more of a this is the place we go at the end of the night when you still have not found the lay of the night. Yes it is that much of a dive bar and I do love a good dive bar but if it is popular there is going to be a lot of people no matter what time of day. I can not complain too much as I was there for an open bar through the website that I write for so the only thing I paid for was the tips for the bartender. I was talking too much to notice the music but I did notice that the music was just high/low enough for all of us to have a conversation with each other without having to shout across the space we were standing. If you are on the look out for a small space that is a little nasty because it is very dive, this is the place to go. Do not worry the glasses were clean and the so were the bathrooms… It just has the look it is really not that dirty…

Stumbled across this place w my boyfriend looking for a happy hour before our dinner reservation. We came in on a Tuesday around 7pm and the place was empty. The bartender greeted us warmly and served us. As the hour went along a few more people came in. Happy hour goes all night on week days which sounds great to me. $ 4 wells cannot be beat. I will certainly remember this place.

King’s Cross is one of my favorite places in NYC for a random night out, and inevitably, a random all-out break-it-down like a mofo DANCEPARTY. Admittedly, my friends and I are often the ones starting said dance parties, but no matter We always find willing partners to join us here! Since it’s tucked away downstairs below Hecho en Dumbo, you can easily walk right past King’s Cross, having no idea it’s there. But once you’re inside, the cute little bar downstairs is always playing some amazing tunes with their rotating cast of shockingly unknown yet astounding DJs. Drink specials on the weekdays and happy hour are pretty darn reasonably priced, but even when happy hour ends, you can’t complain about the prices for a cocktail or beer. The bar gets pretty darn crowded come 11/11:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays. So if you’re looking for a chill little sit-down joint on the weekend, this is NOT your place. But if you’re in the mood for a random, crazy night on Bowery, King’s Cross is the only place to be.

King’s Cross has become my fave bar in the village. How could you not like a place that has a beer and shot special for $ 5, a DJ and dance floor, and a resident psychic working out of the back area? The place is a no frills bar, but stacked with good people and good bartenders. Be careful though, you may very well drink yourself to death with that drink special of theirs.

King’s Cross is very quickly becoming my favorite bar in the city. It’s small and divey and nicely tucked away under Hecho en Dumbo. They always have great music playing and often end the night with classics that you can’t stop dancing to. To quote my dance partner from last weekend«wait no! we can’t get another drink I LOVEEEEE this song»(this is about the 4th song he’s exclaimed this on as it started playing) The place gets pretty packed on the weekend(think tiny basement) but there’s always epic dance parties to be had so it’s completely bearable. I’ll prob be there this weekend, and the next, and maybe I’ll take a day off but then I’m back. So if you go look for me I’ll be the drunk girl in the middle of the dance floor raging out. Yeah that’s right I said it. I know the bartender Courtney and he’s great at having a good time behind the bar and making you have a good time as well. Plus he’s not a bad sight to see… watch out now, I do also know his lovely GF! I’ve talked a bit to some of the other staff and they’re all amazing and friendly.

This here bar is one of your basic basics. I’d never been in it, so walking by recently we found ourselves drawn to the Australia reaches, literally down under Bowery! Stepping into the basement isn’t something you do everyday to have a beer, but the stairs do the trick. Walk down a hall and you’re greeted by a very basic bar with stools, and a space to either end. I could tell immediately that this was a college hangout, cause the bartender asked for our IDs and really scrutinized them. This isn’t anything against her of course. Simply that we still live in semi-prohibitionary times here in this lovely city, and there are always cops trying to bust these bars for serving minors. Even not asking us for ID could get them shutdown. Sad. Looking at the taps in front, I wanted to go with their IPA but it was sadly out as was my second choice. So I went with a Guinness. The bar was flanked on either end by cute girls. Strange for a wednesday night. Girls night out? I don’t know, but I’m not complaining either!

Head down a flight of stairs into a dark, drab basement with a DJ that spun like a madman, and a long bar filled with local patrons, often spill-over from the bar next door. This place doesn’t open up until later in the evenings, too, they don’t appear to have much in the way of clientele for dinner or anything like that — this is a pure bar with a small dance area, that’s about it. It’s very loud in here. People who like to dance are there. And no elevator down, insofar as I can tell, so you’d best be able to walk down stairs. They appear to be related to an upstairs space, too, for special events and more? Or is that Antic? Coat check, too, that’s nice… at least, I saw the sign, but no coat check person around. Cheerful staff, though. Not crazy about the space(it’s a bit too loud to even chat) but a better stop for a weekday than a weekend(if you can figure out the hours).
