I love coming to Dempsey’s for a drink. It just has a great layout; lots of space to chill out and relax along the long strip of bar. There are TVs along the whole bar as well. There are also plenty of wood tables opposite the bar for extra seating. Often times its difficult to get a bartender’s attention during prime time. However, it was really easy for us to grab our drinks during the Saturday dinner rush on more than one occasion. The management was also very friendly and accommodating. Its these kind of details that set the bars in Manhattan apart.

Nice clean bar with some great Happy Hour specials. Very friendly staff which is not the case with some pretentious EV bars. Did not have any food but it looked that everyone who did was enjoying it.

Dempsey’s is a bar. You generally go to bars to buy alcoholic beverages but there are secondary reasons like food and to watch sports. You can do these things at Dempsey and you can do them rather well. However, you should note that part of the experience of doing these things at Dempsey’s depend on what you bring to the table yourself. So if you suck then your experience might suck, you may also ruin the experience of others. So don’t suck. I like Dempsey’s because I generally find that people there do not suck. If there is a sports competition on the TV that I do not particularly care for, then sometimes the atmosphere can be in conflict with what I was hoping for but I have the good sense to know that in this kind of equation, I am the problematic variable. I also like the glasses at Dempsey’s, they’re usually filled with beverages, unless I drink the beverage. But what I think I like most about Dempsey’s is that, if you drink all of your beverage you can bring your glass back to the bartender and they will fill it again! So really, the amount of beverage you consume is really only limited by the amount which you desire. Whoever invented Dempsey’s business model should be a millionaire, and I have a feeling there will be a lot of places like Dempsey’s popping up soon around the city.

Dempsey’s NY Manhattan East Village 11pm Saturday 30th January 2016. Four Stars It was pretty crowded on this Saturday evening. There was a DJ and plenty of late 20s/early 30s people drinking am dancing. The long bar was packed making a bit hard to make your way to the back. There was plenty of seating in the back for waiter service. I used my whiskey passport at the bar to enjoy a Paddy’s Irish whiskey on the rocks. The bartender offered me a water which I happily accepted. It’s pretty much a bar for everyone, cheapest beer, high end scotch, and everything in between.

For a pub, it’s a nice spot. They’re always showing of all the latest sports which is entertaining. I was recently there for the McGregor fight last month with some friends and although it was packed, the service wasn’t terrible. I always give room for that. Guiness is on draft so you can’t go wrong. I’ve ate their chips and salsa and I think I also ate their quesadillas(can’t remember lol) which were both good. I would definitely go back.

I’ve never had a more horrid experience in the entire time I’ve lived in New York. My friend was objectified and ridiculed. She was 24 with multiple instances of ID. We were forced to get the police involved. Also the staff don’t wash their hands and the few of my friends who weren’t ridiculed left with a stomach virus.

So can’t give dempsey’s any stars because I’m 25 and they decided that my out of town ID wasn’t good enough. Could have been a great place but couldn’t get in since the bouncer decided only passports and health insurance cards were the only form of legitimate identification

I love this place. I have tried to find other bars like this in LES with no success. This bar hits all the right buttons for me. Most of the local bars temp to either be total dives or waaaay to modern attracting the hipster crowd with the obligatory steep price tag. However, Dempsey’s is a classic irish pub. The food is absolutely awesome bar food. Listen, when I throwing back some beers I want so non pretentious bar food. Dempsey’s delivers. They have some great happy hour specials which makes things alot more enjoyable. The nachos are probably my favorite thing here. The happy hour drink specials are also pretty good. My girlfriend and i also really enjoy the outdoor seating during the summer. Its really nice to order some drinks during happy hour, sit outside and do some quality people watching. This was one of the first bars I went to when I moved back to the area and assumed I would be able to find a ton more good irish pubs like this but I find that I just keep coming back to this place because it is so consistently good.

Never fails. No plans, come here! Making plans, come here! The food is awesome and affordable. The staff is fast and friendly. Even the guard up front is nice! When the DJ plays, the music is awesome. Eat outside or in. Definitely my favorite place to go.

We came on a beer tour, so we had the Oktoberfest on tap. Unfortunately, this is the only bar on the tour that served the beer in styrofoam cups. It made us feel like we were lesser customers. No beer should be had out of styrofoam– it disrespects the beer and the customer. The bartender pretty much ignored us after punching our beer tour badges and placing the cups at our end of the bar. We did have food at some of the stops, but decided to get out of here quickly.

The bartenders here are beautiful. The vibe on weekdays is cool, but on weekend nights it’s *a lot*. 90’s pop music blasting with white girls in flannel shirts and cowboy boots and NYU frat boys just grooving to the beat of Britney. But it’s fun if you’re already drunk and looking to party. Not so much a chill let’s get to know each other kind of bar, at least not on weekends.

I’ll keep it short and sweet: –The Trivia is pretty great — good format, challenging questions. Though the host was once pretty rude to a friend of mine during a disagreement regarding a question/answer, but my friends and I like the trivia enough to overlook that incident and attend regularly. –The food is better than your average pub food — but its also more expensive. Still, better to pay extra and be totally satisfied than to pay less and have it be a crappy experience. All in all, I’ve never regretted grabbing dinner there during trivia. –They’re understaffed sometimes but generally the staff that is there does a good job of taking care of everyone. All in all, probably the best trivia in NYC now that trivia-tryst has been bought out.

This place did a great job for Wednesday Night trivia night. Tony/Toby(?) is a fantastic leader of trivia — with enthusiasm, energy, and humor. There were 15 of us that came in last night(yay company outings) — we had 3 different appetizer sampler platters(those muzz sticks are great! The wings were a bit spicy for some –the nachos left a bit to be desired but were a great crowd food, and those pork sliders were heaven(but fatty)) some range of assorted drinks, and then settled in for a few hours of mind-stumping facts. I have to admit the topics were a bit over our heads as trivia novices(famous Arab Americans, six degrees of separation from the movie Cassablanca?!) but a good time was had by all. Thank you for our devoted server who kept the drinks coming, and to the entire staff at large for ensuring a great time was had by all.

Great local bar in the east village, the bartender ciaran is a really nice Irish guy, very attentive and helpful and up for banter, as is the manager. most of the staff are Irish which is great, like stevey who’s always a lot of fun. stop in for one you might stay for two! Great beer and cocktail selection. Oh and the food is great too. I will definitely come here more often.

We’ve spent many football Sundays here at Dempsey’s. It’s a modern Irish bar with a ton of space for watching every game(they show every football game every Sunday). We always get the appetizer sampler because they give you full portions of all your choices — it’s a steal and it’s great food. Cocktails are a little pricey, but the beer buckets are a good deal. If you’re lucky you’ll get to meet the owner, he’s always around and a nice guy.

Great pub! HUGE inside, really clean bathrooms, excellent service, friendly waitstaff and bartenders, great outdoor seating. We came for happy hour($ 2 off beers — excellent selection, by the way) and were surprised by how laid back and nice things were. Had a great time and will definitely stop by if we’re in the area again.

My friends and I wandered in here looking for a place to watch the Brazil v. Netherlands game. They have a lot of good screens so it was a good choice. We had some drinks each, the margarita was okay, not the best I’ve had and sort of weak, and the Manhattan was decent. We got a couple orders of fries, my buddy had a fish taco, and I got a pork belly slider. All were $ 4 each, which wasn’t too bad, and while everything was saucy in general, the curry mayo that came with the fries was pretty good. The deviled eggs were bland. Decent place to watch some sports, food is okay, drinks are sort of weak.

We were here for the US. vs. Portugal World Cup match, the staff was really busy but they were friendly and helpful, the food is your regular bar food, nothing to be excited about. The people at this the place why this place only gets one star(or negative if the option is available.) My friends and I were there to cheer on Team USA but a table full of ignorant frat boys felt the need to pick on us because we were not in our Red white and blue. Maybe it was my skin color that set him off because I’m NOTWHITE, but they were rude to us and took one of the chair at our table without asking. While we were arguing, his friends starting throwing racial slurs. It was one of the most racist act I’ve ever experienced.

Menu is filled with typical bar fare, and is about what you’d expect. Drinks are also pretty standard(mixed drinks are a bit watered down though). But what’s really fun here is the Trivia Night. Two pieces of advice: –It gets crowded, so come early if you want a table –Bring ~4 other friends with a range of areas of expertise –Expect tough competition, because at least a couple of teams had near-perfect scores on the night we went!

Went to Dempsey’s for NYE as part of a private party. I haven’t been there on a regular evening, but from my experience, I’ll definitely be back! Pretty decent tap list, the bartenders and servers were all wonderfully friendly, even as they had to pass back champagne to us frantic party-goers at 11:55PM. There was enough space to dance but also to sit and catch up with friends, and it’s pretty convenient to get to as well. If you’re looking for somewhere to host a party, I’d give it an A+. That’s not to say I organized one, just that I partook in one, but it was a great evening and I’m looking forward to making a return trip!

This is a really fun bar with an authentic, Scottish vibe and the best Guinness pour in NYC. Our bartender pointed out that the owner really values and treasures Guinness, so he does not buy in bulk in order to preserve freshness. Also, since it’s the #1 pour, it has the shortest distance between the keg and the glass. Delicious! Food is standard bar fare, and there’s no skimping on portions. Great live music most nights. A really fun time.
