Great location right by the high line so perfect for a quick cup of coffee after the walk. I had a soy chai and it was good. Not the best but nothing to complain about. My friend liked her regular chai as well. She also had their turkey wrap which she enjoyed. Bonus points for having gluten free wraps which I noticed on the menu. Cute atmosphere, with interesting layout and a rustic feel. I assume it would be even more enjoyable in the summer time.

Nice guys, and I think the barista is probably good. But the coffee is so over-roasted, who can tell? Thin shot, and even well-foamed milk can’t change that. If you want Starbucks but don’t want to go to Starbucks, then this is your MP district go-to.

Use to be one of my favorite places. Staff is very rude and on their cell phones in front of customers. Bean soup was mediocre and I had a hair in my soup. I purchased the half soup half sandwich and asked for tomatoes in my turkey sandwich and I was told that their was an up charge. For a café in such a posh area after having a hair in my soup I was told their was an up charge. Not happy with the service and a bit taken back by the comment of the upcharge. I don’t recommend kava.

Great coffee that is right by start of High Line so you can grab and go. We only had a coffee and latte but they were great.

Great location right by the entry to the High Line so handy to grab a cup for walking up there. Tried both the iced coffee on a warmer day’s visit and the chai on a cooler day. The iced coffee was decent — a little too bitter for my taste but that was a matter of preference. The chai, however, was excellent. Drinks are not cheap, that is true. I don’t mind paying a little extra for a truly enjoyable cup so with that said, the chai was worth it. The coffee? Hmm. Perhaps if it were larger. The place itself is cute — pretty neat that they serve beer etc also — that’s a plus. Went into the garden in the back on my first visit but it was closed this last time — I assumed because of the season but in reading here it seems it’s just closed, period? That would be a shame if true because it really is a nice perk.

Cute little place. Popped in here after walking the High Line on a rainy day. Expensive coffee though, $ 5 for a latte. Won’t be back in this area but if I was then I’d look for another café

Delicious cortado, good latte art. I liked the interior décor here, reminded me of a Buenos Aires art Deco hole-in-the-wall. I didn’t try the food so can’t comment on that. The location is great if you’re in the meatpacking or northern part of the West Village. Grab a coffee here to enjoy on the high line!

What a yummy place to duck into. Stopped here before heading over to the Seinfeld Apartment pop up on a cold June day(yes you read it right.) I grabbed a Matcha Latte which I tried for the first time and was not disappointed. My friend had the Chai latte which was equally delicious. The store was very clean, items at the coffee bar stocked up. The staff was super nice a knowledgeable. Can’t wait to come back and try some of their other treats.

I love the décor of this place! The baristas were nice enough. The prices were pretty steep, but that’s typical of this neighborhood. The location is wonderful for getting drinks before or after strolling the nearby Highline. If you want a small indie spot with retro décor, good coffee and in a nice location, this is the place! I will definitely be back.

Decent spot. The coffee and food is good and consistent but very expensive. Most people are local and from the neighborhood which is nice.

I came in before work, and this place was dead silent. The barista was friendly enough, and I was uncaffeinated enough that I didn’t even look for a menu, I just mumbled, «Latte, please.» A few taps on the iPad register, and she prompted me, «Five dollars.» I passed her my debit card, and a receipt was slid in front of me, with the pen placed pointing directly at the tip line. Seeing the receipt jolted me out of my sleepy stupor and I looked up at the barista quickly with shock at how much my coffee was. I HATE being prompted to tip – it’s supposed to be gratuity for excellent service, not an unquestioned standard practice. Anyway, I wrote in the tip, signed the receipt and perused the pastry case while another guy prepared my coffee. Seconds later, a tiny cup was pushed my way. A. Tiny. Cup. This is why Starbucks does so well – you pay $ 5 and you get approximately the serving size of two and a half coffees. You go to a boutique coffee place, and you pay $ 5 for an elf-sized serving. Coffee was okay. Tasted overly nutty and perhaps even a little powdery. Next time, I’m sticking to what I know is great, hand crafted coffee at Champion Coffee in Gansevoort Market.

At least 3.5 stars. And let me say this place is going to be huge once the new Whitney opens. The biggest problem is really that the staff isn’t engaging, but they aren’t actively rude either. Just stand-off ish. The coffee is otherwise good. I got a cortado and thought it to be good enough. Would get it again if I were in the area, but certainly wouldn’t go out if my way. It is a bit expensive, but it’s really the only café around, so they can away with it. It’s a small cute place with maybe 6 or 7 stools for sitting. On a Friday afternoon there was a steady stream of customers, but it was not super crowded. Most people of course take orders to go, so seating remained available.

Slick(not very creative) interior, many Italian visitors, coffee not too good, expensive, good service and in the middle of Meatpacking. Just normal, not awesome.

Angie, either A) you’re doing it wrong or B) your ‘baristas’ serve hot drip coffee in a cup of ice when your Japanese ice coffee runs out

We stopped before our Highline trek for some water. The sleek café was fit the character of the upscale restaurants, hotels and bars that have iconically dotted the Meatpacking district. The dark yet shiny interior reminds me of cafés in Vienna. The display of pastries wetted my appetite and I soon purchased a piece of lemon pound cake. Their pastries are probably outsourced from a local bakery– kudos to the bakery. This cake was dense and perfectly flavored. The service was quick and courteous.

Phenomenal espresso. Unusually expensive coffee… Latte art is very fun to look at — perfect for Instagram! ALL sandwiches are made fresh. Limited drink menu. The baristas never smile and are lazy. The garden is closed, permanently. Organic juice is also made fresh. The owner is really, really awesome and will make you feel welcomed and at home. It’s a grab and go. Not much a social lounge.

The stories of the surly barista are true, sadly. Also, the garden out back is closed. When I asked«Is it just closed for the season? When will it open again?» the guy was very… reluctant to tell me anything. At all. Got some mutterings about how they weren’t sure if the garden would ever open again. Ever. Something about the landlord? The garden is the only thing that makes this place worthwhile. Welp, back to the West Village.

An interesting café in the middle of the over-gentrified Meatpacking District. The retro 60’s décor is slick, the staff were very friendly, and the espresso made well. The hidden garden in the back could do with a little TLC, but is a great respite from the bustle outside.

I had heard from a few people that this was the best coffee they have had in NYC so I had high expectations I guess. After a long walk on the highline, I stumbled into Kava and got an iced coffee. It basically tasted like sweetened water. And that was because I put a ton of sugar in it. The service is not friendly either. The back patio is a nice green space to sit down outside and meet people but that’s pretty much it. They have a card where you get 12 drinks, one drink free, but I doubt i’ll be going back so I didn’t pick it up.
