I used to love this place but the crowd has gotten weird and the bartenders super hateful. The bartenders purposefully make fun of the guests in front of their face and turn down the volume on the mics. It’s a karaōke bars it’s supposed to be fun and the energy good so please don’t hire bartenders who purposefully mock their guests. The crowd had also gotten strange, lots of tourists or people not from NYC who don’t understand that a bar on a Saturday in NYCWILL be crowded and that you will rub shoulders with enthusiastic singers. I’m here tonight on Saturday the 1⁄16th and the bartenders are awful. Definitely not coming back. Will find a place in K-Town. And just to be clear I’ve been going here for over a year and I gave this place(crowd and bartenders) a long time before writing this review.

Some of the bartenders are really nasty(seems to be a common thread in other negative comments). Been favorite place for several years and have spent thousands of dollars there. We’ve spent birthdays there in private rooms. We always tip well and always polite when making requests. I brought 2 other friends who are performers on Broadway in on a random dead Tuesday night when I asked them to please turn the music up even if it was just for my song the bartender took my drink, threw it out, and asked us to leave. We were all stunned. Never been treated like that. I’m the last of my friends who will still go there.

Super good for enormous groups. No really you can rent a room the size of the bar complete with mini tables that make for a great cat walk. Decent service. Great list. BUT… you’ll pay for it. Through the nose to be exact.

This is only for the bar area and for how the security guy didn’t do his job. My friend(girl) was harassed by a this older guy. She didn’t want us to start anything so I ended up just telling the security guard what happened. He told me that was a regular and to not mind him. He didn’t even go to the guy and say anything. Anyway, my friend continued to get harassed and we all said something to him. Security still didn’t do anything. We ended up leaving. Worst of all, I didn’t get to sing No Diggity. BUT the bar staff were all great. Everyone else in there was not a douche bag and we always have a great time there. But if security can’t do their job when a patron is being harassed, then one star for you.

I called around 10:30pm on a Friday night, asking for a reservation and they assured me that they were really busy but that they would take a reservation and they took my name. Fast forward 30 minutes later, I arrive at the bar with my entire party of 4 and am told by the bartender that I don’t have a reservation at all. I showed the waitress my phone and that I called the bar 30 minutes ago to make a reservation and she tells me that they’re just really busy and that I don’t have a reservation. My thought process is if they didn’t have reservations, why didn’t they just tell me over the phone rather than me calling, making a reservation, and then arriving to find out that that reservation does not exist. Rude.

I came here a couple of days ago with some friends. I was misled under the impression that there were Indian songs here. However I didn’t see any Hindi songs and it broke our hearts. The bartender/host did not seem helpful at all and did not explain the procedures of this karaōke at all. She was rushing to get our credit card however. The 20% gratuity was also annoying considering the fact that the host was not helpful nor did any work to receive that in the first place. And she had the nerve to look at us while we put a line across for the tip. You expect a tip on top of the 20% gratuity when we received horrible service? Hah in your dreams. The only good thing about this place was how cheap it was.

We went to this place because they offered hindi/bollywood songs. The venue is clean and music selection is convenient through Ipad searches and binders with international songs listings. However, the service is lacking in many ways. When we arrived, someone at the bar walked us to the room and didn’t explain a single feature. He was rushing because he had customers at the bar. We were confused for the first 2−5ish minutes in terms of how to select hindi/bollywood songs. Strike one. The American music options are abundant and easy to search/find. The hindi/bollywood songs option was very limited and slightly disappointing. To make matters worst, most American songs didn’t have the original video or playback singing from the singer(we’re assuming this is to save money on royalty fees). Many songs had a random irrelevant video with instrumental acoustic music background, which didn’t help us sing along at all. Strike two. We were still happy with the experience as 3 out of 4 people were doing karaōke for the first time. What made the night annoying was the 20% gratuity charge. This charge was not explained to me when I made reservations on the phone nor was it told to us when we arrived. So, we basically paid $ 8 per person(per hour) and a 20% forced tip which wasn’t deserved. Strike three. All in all, it’s a decent place but very overpriced so I doubt we’ll be returning(unless we’re really desperate to sing hindi/bollywood songs).

Go to Korea town or St. marks instead. We had just ordered a pitcher of beer but they took our remote away. They automatically include 20% tip so they really don’t care about customer service. Zero stars.

Came here for a Bachelorette party this past weekend. The hostess was super friendly and didn’t mind that we showed up to our reservation late(we had called in advance to let them know). Awesome song choices, strong drinks, and super easy to navigate iPad for song selections. It’s definitely a no frills, get in-do your thing-get out type of place. Would return for a chill night out, definitely for Happy Hour and the BYO.

First time here was a success. Friendly atmosphere and a real laid back attitude. Whoever made my vodka cranberry is an angel – no complaints. Place is great for a date night or for a night out with friends. Don’t be shy and put in your karaōke requests as you enjoy a drink!

Came here to celebrate my best friend’s birthday bash. I’ve been to a few karaōke bars and this has to be my favorite. The music selections are up-to date. The rooms are clean and spacious. Rates for private rooms are pretty good. Book a private room with your closest friends and just have a blast. Or after having some liquid courage sing karaōke in public at the bar. Super cool place and staff. Here’s a tip when you are done with the room, bring the iPad because they need it in order to charge you.

Celebrated my 25th birthday here on a Saturday night. We ended up being 30 minutes late and they still accommodated us with no problem which was great. This is probably the best karaōke bar amongst the choices in NYC because: –They have the latest up to date songs –Rooms are clean and well maintained –Equipment is modern and well maintained(They use iPads now for song choice which is cool) –Staff is friendly and professional –Prices are pretty reasonable This place is definitely one to check out!

Held my 24th birthday here on a late Saturday afternoon. PROS: — Happy Hours is AWESOME(for a few hours during the day). Great prices for karaōke and drinks and shot specials(half off!) — Reserving the party room(I had 19 people) was easy — Bartender was accommodating and kind; shots and drinks kept rolling in as we ordered — decent beer — BYOF; or order for delivery straight to the room — song selection ONPOINT — they have an entire book of Hindi songs too! CONS: The extra charge wants me to rate this 4 stars, but they handled it so back to 5. — We asked to extend the reservation another hour, and were aware of the charge for that. But as the bill came in, my friend charged and signed without looking at it. The next day we looked at the bill and it showed we were charged an extra 45 minutes. so we paid for 3:45 hours instead of the 3 hours. We called the place and they eventually promised to refund the charge to us(which was $ 100). Two weeks later and the refund wasn’t shown on my friend’s credit card, so we called again to ensure the refund would be processed. It was. They’re nice, accommodating people. But just make sure you ANALYZE the FULLBILL! Overall, good place.

Fantastic! I hosted my birthday party here, and it was a smooth and positive experience. I reserved our room somewhat late(only two days in advance for a Saturday night) and it was no problem. The room was great and we were checked on regularly(but not too much). We had no problem finding the songs we wanted(even when searching for some obscure Broadway hits, as we are apt to do). Plus, the price was great. Very pleased with our experience!

Two friends and I walked in on a late afternoon looking to sing a few songs. The bar was dead. We opted to get a room. The rooms are decent, and the song selection is pretty standard. Unfortunately, what ruined the experience was the curmudgeonly hag behind the bar: «Server 36 Manager» as stated on my receipt. We spent about three hours in the room. We didn’t need or receive any type of service from Miss 36, as none of us are drinkers and we were only interested in singing. And yet, when we were finished and received the receipt from hag 36, she had given herself a nice 20% tip. For doing absolutely nothing. Now, I have no problem with tipping but this 20% automatic gratuity crap wasn’t going to fly with my friends and me, especially for someone who didn’t earn it. I politely asked 36 if she could remove the charge, as I’d rather be in charge of that, since, you know, It’s my money that I earned. She replied«Oh, that’s just how we do things here.» I reiterated that I did not consent to that charge on my card. She refused with the same dimwitted reply«That’s just how we do things here.» Really? That’s how you do things? You pay yourself 20% for just ringing up the bill? You should work in congress, moron. Last I checked, tipping was based on service and at the customer’s discretion! It’s too bad this establishment hires self-entitled little thieves to run their bar, otherwise, this would be a pretty cool spot. Oh, and I’ll be getting my money back from my credit card company. Do yourself a favor and go to a bar that doesn’t insidiously rip off its customers.

The last time I belted Michael Bublé’s «All of me» was years ago, thanks to a friend’s birthday bash, he chose to celebrate in a karaōke bar and gave me an excuse to brush up on my hidden singing prowess(although a friend’s truthful advised was to keep it hidden). It was my first time at Karaōke One 7 in Chelsea. Upon entering, we were greeted by patrons singing-along for a $ 2 per song at the main bar. We were lead to a large private room($ 8 per person for a minimum of 8 people on off peak nights(Sun-Wed), and $ 64 per hour room charge on weekend’s night(Thurs-Sat). For the party of 20 plus people, the room is considered spacious. There’s a small bar with wide screen TV above the door that is attached to the main bar with a stage on the other side(to bring out the diva-ness in you). The $ 20 bucks per pitcher of Kirin draft is inexpensive when shared by 4 people. I think everybody wants to sing their hearts out once in awhile. This place is for you if want a sure hit celebration.

We walked in last Saturday at 9pm and the small front bar was packed! Security guards had to pull girls down from standing on tables singing. The karaōke bar crowd comes and goes at this venue, but the most fun is reserving a private karaōke room. Our friends’ dual birthday party took over the largest room, with over 20 partiers. The hanging stage decorations were falling down and added to a tacky, rundown nightclub ambience. The colored lighting was nice. The club has every song you can basically think of to sing, and we did it our way, from Sinatra to Broadway to Manilow to Lady Gaga to One Direction and everyone in between. The catalog on iPad made selection easy. Thai, Canto, Kpop, Hindi and Viet catalogs were available too. The bartenders were friendly. Kirin draft was sold by the pitcher! About the only things missing were decent snacks other than wasabi peas and Pocky candy. Any Asian karaōke place should sell some hot snacks. Next time we’ll stop by some fast food joint to bring hot/warm nibbles.

Karaōke 17 sets itself apart from the other karaōke places in Manhattan with their happy hour specials and innovative song selection process. Everyday(including weekends) from 2:00PM to 8:00PM, the room rates are $ 4.00 a person and they have a $ 3.00 special for Kirin draft beer. Cheap KTV and beer are a winning combo for me. With a modern twist, songs are selected using a iPad here. No more going into the touch screen at the corner of the room.; no more passing a remote around. Here at Karaōke 17, you pick your songs, check the song queue list, turn on vocals all on a tablet. What an interesting experience! Although the iPad lags a little when typing. The song selection is very similar to the Duet KTV places. English songs are fairly updated with the newest I seen being 4 months old. Chinese songs are not updated at all with the newest being nearly a decade old. Unlike Duet, the Chinese songs do come with their respective music videos and the option to turn on background vocals. Unfortunately this doesn’t apply to English songs so you have to sing to instrumentals and blue screens. Overall this is a great place to KTV. Song selection is easy, mics are good quality and wireless, and the happy hour specials and rates are awesome. I also love that its near Union Square so I can get some karaōke in when I am not near any Asian areas.

Always a good time at K17. I’ve been here mostly on impromptu visits with a few friends and while the experience isn’t always flawless, we always leave with a smile on our faces and a song in our hearts. Oh, and the desire to puke from all the bottom-shelf alcohol and beer we’ve inevitably consumed. You take what you can get, I guess. Private room pricing is standard here, at about $ 8 per person per hour. The karaōke machines use iPads to select songs, and while they’re a bit slow to the touch, it’s far better than using remotes to input song codes. I always like to start off with the song Animal by Neon Trees to get the party going. Or Thrift Shop. It’s never failed me. Never. I wouldn’t try coming here with more than 6 – 8 people. Otherwise it gets a bit crowded and most rooms can only accommodate about 8 at the max. Also, the service is not great here, but again, better than most places in Koreatown or down in East Village, in my experience. They are very prompt to get your drink orders, but not so attentive on machine technical difficulties or checking up on you. Not the best karaōke experience I’ve ever had, but a solid and consistent one, I will say. Come here with tempered expectations about the service, and you’ll have a great time.

BYO karaōke is the best thing ever. Birthday parties always mean one form or another of a shitshow will happen. Karaōke was a great way to pregame for the night. Rodeo Karaōke in Philly was a staple of my college career and several aspects of Karaōke One 7 brought those memories back for me. Our large party room was decked out in not one, not two, but three TVs, giving easy access to read lyrics no matter where you’re sitting. There’s an extension of the main bar into our room, ensuring we were always next in line to place a drink order. The song selection iPad floated around the room, giving everyone a chance to search for and queue up their next song. Everything was surprisingly up to date, with old favorite likes Wonderwall and Sweet Caroline to newer hits like Drunk In Love and Red Lights(although I highly disapprove of EDM at karaōke). My favorite aspect was definitely the BYO aspect. Not BYO alcohol like Rodeo, but you could bring whatever food you wanted into the place. The birthday boy brought in BonChon and a plethora of Filipino foods. I stopped by McDonald’s and McNuggeted up the room. This chill aspect of the venue definitely leaves the biggest impression on me. Good thing Unilocal reviews are written and not spoken because I don’t think I could do it justice with the voice I have now. Whether a small or large group, book a room at Karaōke One 7 and experience it for yourself!
