I truly disliked my experience at this shop. My friend and I chose this location to have brunch after a long and hungry morning. We received our menus and I chose a turkey wrap with with a side of fries, water, and a drink; my friend asked for a very similar meal. The turkey wrap was hard and tasteless and the waitress never brought my water. A couple of minutes later, I requested another waitress to bring my water(I didn’t make a big deal as anyone can make a mistake). After we were done eating, we waited about 10 minutes for the waitress to approach us with the usual norm(do you want your check, do you want to pack the rest of the food, etc.) but they were all standing in a corner talking to each another and minding their own business. I decided to call on one of the waiters and told him that I wanted the rest of my food to be packed; my friend had half a wrap and all her french fries to take home. While the waiter was taking our plates I told him that I wanted my check and that I was going to pay with credit card. He told me that if I wanted to pay with my card that I had to go inside the restaurant to make the request(we were seated outside). I found this to be very strange as I have never heard of such procedure in a restaurant. A couple of minutes later the waitress that originally took our orders showed up, and I asked her about the credit card procedure, she said that I didn’t have to go inside the restaurant and that she would bring our checks. After paying, we received our food packed in a brown paper back which I found to be very tasteless. After getting home, my friend told me that they didn’t pack her fries. Overall the experience was very sour; bad customer service, moodie staff, and lack of organization.

There’s a reason this place only had a 2 star rating it sucks !!! I will never ever eat here again. Food taste horrible hire a new chef. Even the fountain soda tasted like they messed up making the stuff. Do yourself a favor go else where.

I love new York diners heck any diner thats got great hash browns, a choice of toast and decent sausage to go with my eggs. This was definitely not a winner. Even my waitress smelled like she went out last night and forgot to shower. Ew not conducive to a good meal. I got french fries instead of hash browns. at noon they were out of hash browns come on! The sausauge links were so greasy they squirted and burned my cheek, the toast was cold with the butter(it was real butter which is nice) on the side and of course it wouldn’t melt. The eggs well they were ok. Anyways, I won’t be returning there’s just too many GOOD diners in New York.

Service is atrocious, Food portions are tiny. The food tastes bland and by the time it makes it to your table, it will be cold. Servers clearly do not have any interest in serving customers. Honestly, how do you mess up comfort food?!?

Its not bad. Its a diner that has a good rating from the Health Commission. I’ve been there multiple times. Maybe if you’re nice to the waitresses they’re nice to you? I’ve never had a problem here.

I’m a big fan of diners. I am not a big fan of Jimmy’s. I’ve been there twice now with a large group of friends. The first time, I tried to order a delicious sounding salad and was told that it was not only no longer on the menu, it hadn’t been for some time. Seriously? You don’t update your menus when you change your offerings? The service is always slow, even when they’re not busy. The food is mediocre at best and definitely over priced for the quality. I gave them a second chance, but I doubt there’ll be a third.

So, my boyfriend and I walked by this restaurant and saw the sign for Happy Hour and thought that it would be a nice place to stop and have a drink at before boarding our bus back to Boston. I ordered steamed clams, a Greek salad to-go, and an apple martini. The waitress didn’t even know that the clams had a red sauce or white garlic sauce option and was baffled when I asked for white garlic sauce(listed right underneath the appetizer itself). I was enjoying my martini until I took a closer look at it and saw little pieces of dust floating around(ewww). Then it took half an hr for my steamed clams to arrive. They looked very overcooked and were cold. My «Greek salad» eventually came about 40 minutes later, BUT luckily I looked inside, because the waitress gave me a Caesar salad instead. When I told her she gave me the wrong salad, she INSISTED that I was wrong. Then, it took about another 20 minutes for my «correct» salad to come, but by that time we had to SPRINT to the bus stop. I took a look at the salad when I sat down on the bus… my dressing was WRONG. Overall, I’m very disappointed with the service and especially the lengthy amount of time it took to throw together a salad. Really, it shouldn’t take that long to prepare such simple meals when especially the restaurant was dead empty.

You’ve got to suffer the bad to understand what a good diner is on about. I never expect a diner to be pretty, so was not disappointed on that front. What lets this dump down is the service and attitude of the staff. Even though the place was empty we sat at our table for 10 minutes before being given our menus, with a sigh. … skipping over the dull aspect of average diner food … When you have to get up from your seat and wave cash under the nose of the bitch serving you, only to have it snatched out of your hand without a word … seriously, this dump deserves to close down. Come on Unilocal — give us a Zero Star Option.

At 6 a.m. in NYC, it might as well be the middle of the night… nothing is open for breakfast! After arriving to the city way too early thanks to a red eye flight, we never dreamed we’d have a hard time finding a place to get warm and feed. Wrong! After unloading our bags at our hotel, we walked many, many blocks toward Pershing Square Café, a place we enjoyed on our last visit… only to find it didn’t open until 7 a.m. It seems that’s the magic hour for almost all sit down breakfast places… only the McD’s and delis were open and we weren’t that starving yet. After wandering aimlessly for another 30 minutes, we ended up in front of Macy’s on 34th&6th. There was Jimmy’s Coffee Shop, looking closed, but actually open since 6 a.m. Finally! I agree with the other reviewers on the quality of service… our waitress tolerated us, but somewhat pleasantly. Average coffee. A testament to how cold I was… I drank two cups of Lipton Tea(kinda like a wine snob popping open a bottle of Bud). My husband’s oatmeal was quite decent and my Egg McMuffin knock-off was respectable. If I would have written the review while I was sitting at the table, sheltered from the exterior chill, I probably would have given them a 4-star just because of gratitude that they were open at 6:45 a.m. But, I’m writing this from inside a toasty office building with a cup of steaming coffee on the table to my left… so the rating is more reflective of our pretty typical diner-esque experience.

Came here with my daughter because it was close to her office. As a rule, I love diners. I really love diners that serve breakfast 24 hours a day. My daughter had some kind of wrap sandwich which she says she has at least once a week and loves it. I had the 2 eggs scrambled, sausage, toast and the home fries. All were excellent. The sausage was two very large patties, not greasy. The eggs were light and moist, but not soggy. Just the way I liked them. The service when we were there, 12:30 to 1:30 was excellent even with the big crowds. Maybe the other reviewers caught them on a bad day. Now I have a new place to hang out while I wait for my daughter.

This will personally serve as a lesson learned in laziness. My friend and I could have easily walked a few blocks further east to Murray Hill to enjoy a brunch at any of the restaurants in the area. However, the allure of a diner on two street blocks away from my apartment was too much to resist. The result was a mediocre meal plagued with poor service and food. At least being seated outside provided a much welcomed distraction in the form of pedestrians. The Leo Omelet was soggy and a bit bland, but ketchup masked it effectively! With the infrequent attention that were provided to us, it would appear there was only one waitress tending to the booths inside the diner and the tables outside. Getting a water refill required quite an effort. On the bright side, this was better than my first visit where our table was left unattended for 10 – 12 minutes after being seated. We just stood up and left.

My friends and I arrived at around 9:30 and the place was pretty empty… we were all starving after waiting in line for awhile to get tickets for Conan O’Brien so when we finally found Jimmy’s and saw that it had breakfast specials and decent prices we ran in. I liked it. Had french toast and an enormous side of homefries and it was satisfying. We stayed for a good 2 hours after(we were extremely exhausted…) and they didn’t give us shit for it. Seating was comfortable, waiting was friendly enough. I’d go back if I was ever in the area and craving some breakfast. Only thing is, at the end they were a bit snobby about giving us change(it always so happens that everyone in the group has a 20 they need to break…), which is a little ridiculous because how else would we pay them! But overall, thumbs up.
