First let me be honest and say the food is really good, very expensive and a small portion but good. Hence we deal with the Horrible Service from the female who I will not name. They have been around for a few years now, a great idea it was to have a Jamaican food truck in the city. However if you come to the city to do business then remember the level of service we expect in the city. I’m not saying we are better than any other group, but its obvious how things are done in the city. In the BX where I’m from Ill just laugh off something like this and go somewhere else and place my order, but when you are the only option then I expect you to perform because it pains me to not be able to eat and enjoy my food on a very short lunch break. Do not let me walk to your truck in the rain, and then tell me «oh we don’t have this or we don’t have that! I am not asking to be treated like I’m better than the next person, I just want to feel like I am a valid customer. Over and over my friends and I try to order food with this lady, and if she doesn’t get the order wrong, she just hangs up the phone in the middle of the order. She is rude time and time again, but we still go back, because there are no closer options for Jamaican food. Today was the last straw, a group of coworkers ordered lunch on the phone to be picked up as it was raining and we didn’t have a long break today, so we wanted to run out and back in! When we get there the food is made… yeah… but then she opens the plate and there is like a partial order but she still charges the full price even though its obviously NOT what we ordered. When I ask about this she says, «DIPLANTAINFINISH, ANDDIRICEANDPEASFINISH»…no word of why the vegetables were not added. So you mean to tell me you took the order on the phone knowing full well you didn’t have the food to make a complete order, then you stand there and tell me that a medium plate of Oxtail comes with EXACTLY4 tiny pieces of oxtail, and the«WHATLEFF» rice that you threw in the plate, minus the plantains and the vegetables as ordered??? Why oh why does she do this over and over and why oh why does she have the nastiest attitude and is in the business of serving peoples food??? You cannot operate like this because sooner or later you will lose your customers. You have to do something about her. I guess I will be cooking and bringing lunch to work going forward. PS There once was a guy named Lyold who worked there, he was amazing. Where did he go???

I stumbled upon this truck with a Jamaican flag flying high and I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. I came late(around 1:30−45p) so the line wasn’t that long, but they were out of the curried goat and platanos I originally wanted. Not a big deal, I got the jerk chicken lunch special instead. Jerk Chicken Medium Lunch Special: $ 8.50 gets you a nicely sized lunch that will fill you up! I was so pleased to see some large, succulent cuts of chicken. The chicken was so great. I am super picky with chicken. If it’s even the slightest bit dry, I hate it. But this was SO good. The char on it was perfect and the sauce was delicious. Although it wasn’t really spicy, I was kind of glad because I was able to taste all of the flavors instead of fighting through a burning mouth. AND that means no heartburn later :) I had this with the rice and peas(with extra gravy) and the macaroni salad. The rice was just delicious and the macaroni salad rounded out a deliciously satisfying lunch. I really wish I had a picture to post… but I ate it too fast!!!(oops) The guys working there were super nice. They even told me I could call in ahead of time so I don’t have to worry about them running out of something. I will definitely be back for more!

This place has great Jamaican food! I had the jerk chicken and the char on it was niiiiiiice and the jerk sauce was delicious. The rice was tender and they finish it with another amazing sauce. I also got the plantains, which were great… But a little skimpy for the price tag(2 slices of plantains for $ 2.50). Overall this place has some delicious food and it warrants a stop!

I love this truck. Consistently delivers a delicious and generous meal for a very reasonable price. Located at the corner of Third Avenue and 56th Street is this awesome Jamaican truck. I have curried chicken, jerk chicken, plantains, etc. the food is fresh and as spicy as you like. The ladies like to keep things moving so make up your mind before you get to the window. Often had a line but the ladies crank out the orders. Please patronize this hardworking crew!

It’s about time I added these guys to Unilocal. They have a couple locations in the city now. This location disappears during the winter(Caribbean folk and snow don’t mix), and then they’ll take their time to reappear once it warms up. I’ve had most things on the menu, but the standouts for me are the jerk chicken(get them to add hot sauce and some gravy from the stewed chicken), the curried goat, and the stewed chicken itself. For the prices you get a lot of food! This is a staple midtown lunch for me.
