Love this place. Order at least twice a week. Always great. Recently started to pay attention to their specials, wish I hadn’t waited so long to do so.

Bagatto, one of our all time favorite Italian restaurants. We love the great atmosphere, the funky people, the neighborhood feel, and of course the food. Some of our go to menu items — the grilled calamari, special salad appetizer(always incredible), veal saltimbocca, polpettine and any pasta. Thank you Julio and Bea, and your wonderful staff for an always pleasant evening!

Damn, I really wanted to like this place since it has so many gluten free options. Sadly my dish totally lacked imagination. I ordered the gluten penne — Gnocchetti Verde e Blu — sounds fancy enough but it was actually a plate of penne pasta with a tiny bit of cheese sauce on it. The flavor was good but zero texture and not enough sauce. It left me feeling that if I had boiled up some gluten free pasta and put some cheese on top, I would have had pretty much the same meal and it definitely wouldn’t have cost me $ 17(plus tax and tip). So sad to cross this off my list of hopefuls. Have eaten a similar dish at Senza Gluten numerous times — much more sauce, much more texture, felt like a meal. So these guys are definitely not matching their competitors, at least on this occassion, when it comes to quality and imagination. If you are in the East Village and you want gluten free cheesy pasta, better off going to S’mack where they will add much more texture and variety than just 2 or 3 ingredients.

I travel to NYC from Australia frequently. This amazing place is my very first and my very last port of call. The food is luciously delicious. Its staff friendly. Its owner is always happy, gracious and welcoming. Thats why I keep coming back time after time. Its a home run in regards food and service.

For the second consecutive time at Il Bagatto, the absolute worst experience with restaurant management I have ever had. I thought after five months of not ordering from this dump I thought to give it another shot and maybe I’d have a better experience. I order and after THIRTY minutes, I receive a phone call from a rude jerk who informs me that they will not deliver to me and will not refund me. This place is literally a joke. I was told they just didn’t want to «deal with me.» A reasonable, paying customer who just placed a $ 100 order. Well I don’t want to deal with raw chicken and a lack of refund. The fact that they literally refused to serve me is insane. Unprofessional and honestly goes to show you why this place just won’t last. What a joke.

I don’t know if I am spoiled from living in New York, but I am always frustrated when italian places that charge ~$ 20 for a pasta dish use dried pasta. There are cheaper places that make their stuff handmade and fresh daily and for less dough(pun intended!). Extra star for fast delivery, though.

I used to love this place but today I ordered my normal order through seamless. A little while later, I got a call from the owner, Julio(spelling?) and was told this sob story of how far the kid has to bike in the rain and that i put a small tip(ie attempting to call me on a small tip). Note that I usually give cash tip but only had a few bucks cash so I gave a little extra via seamless. The owner came off very aggressive and attacking. When I inquired as to how success these conversations have gone with others, he just agrued and went on and never wanted to listen any bit of feedback I had. Just kept letting me I was wrong for feeling weird he called me. Just worst management ever. Sad…

Cavettelli is the best thing I ever ate. The grilled calamari is better than the restaurant than the fish restaurant i order it from. It Also comes out in a decent time so the service is pretty good.

Il Bagatto, you’re still my favorite after all these years. You’ve seen me through bachelorette parties(see original review), dates, wedding planning evenings with family and more. Through it all your staff, food and ambiance have kept me coming back for more. My husband and I moved to Boston last year and I’ve been missing this place and it’s sweet neighborhood charm ever since. So… When I had a free evening while in NYC you can bet my first thought was of Il Bagatto. Tickle me pleased that they delivered to my hotel. Guys, even as delivery — it’s amazing. The bruschetta is still awesome and the penne a la vodka is as good as ever.

Had this for lunch today at an office I’m working at. Everything I tasted was AMAZING. Some sort of spinach/arugula salad with chopped tomatoes and mozzarella cubes. Grilled calamari — perfect in every way, and awesome with the above salad. Penne ala vodka — slightly spicy and delish. Gnocci — no idea what kind, but it was slightly green and with some sort of blue cheese sauce. Not the lightest gnocchi I’ve had, but definitely delicious. Ravioli — had some kind of green inside and was in a sage butter sauce. So yummy.

The food is excellent for both brunch and dinner. We also really liked the selection of wine. Friendly service and average prices. Try this one!

Delicious, and the value’s good as long as you order the right thing. I’ve had the fettuccine with salmon and the tortelloni bolognese. The fettuccine was delicious and a steal at $ 12.50. Despite being several dollars more expensive, the tortelloni wasn’t in the same league – there wasn’t enough of the delicious meat sauce to properly balance the doughy pasta. Recommended nonetheless.

Never. And I mean NEVER order dessert from here. The cheese cake was old and dry and the sorbet tasted like old people. What a waste of money

Stopped by one Sunday evening looking for a quick dinner. Both pasta dishes were delicious and to top it off there was live music. A perfect evening, a good time was had by all. The Bruchetta was surprisingly large the size of 2 regular slices of bread cut in half. The tomato was lush prepared at the peak of sweetness. There was enough to take home. We had to choose from the brunch menu because it was 45 minutes until they were ready to serve dinner. Pasta Bolongaise and her house special rigatoni were both excellent. The wine by the glass recommended by the owner was also very good. Dessert though left us wanting. Bombolino(fried donut holes) with white and dark chocolate was tough and bland. Espresso made up for it and the live music left is tapping our toes and smiling as we left. We will be back for dinner some day.

Worst Experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I say this because I am very mild-tempered and it takes a lot for me to be this angry. I brought my date here and had requested the corner seat. I saw someone sitting there, so I went up to the front and asked KINDLY if they were honoring our reservation. The guy(apparently the owner’s husband) starts to berate me about how I need to relax and that everything will be alright. I said«i am fine I was just making sure» and he tells me I have an attitude. As I make my way to the bar to get him out of my face, he whispers to my date«Good luck with him…»(which she told me after.) This would have been unacceptable if I actually was behaving inappropriately, but I was dumbfounded because I had only been polite. I would have left but it was valentines day and I couldn’t find a place last minute. I had to calm myself down to enjoy the dinner, which was okay but overpriced. Worst experience with restaurant managment I have ever had. I have passed this place several times late at night and may have given their front window a little yellow shower several times. If you look at other reviews here, it seems I am not the only one to have had issues with this place.

This is for delivery! I’ve order from here twice now and food has come under 30 minutes each time! The first time I ordered the delivery guy informed me he forgot my drink and asked if I still wanted it. I said yes and he said he would be right back and ran back to the store to get it! He didn’t have an attitude or anything and when he came back I tried to tip him with a few dollars for his trouble(Seamless already requires you to tip) and he refused to take it until I finally was like you HAVE to take it haha. He said thank you and seemed really nice. The food has consistently been good. The second time I needed to add a lot of salt to the marinara sauce on the pasta but it was still really good. They give you a bag with a few various kinds of bread in it and its delicious! At first I was a little turned off by the fact you have to pay 5 dollars extra for chicken on your pasta, but they give you TWO big flattened breasts of chicken on the side and it is soooo good. Its great if you put it in the pasta and its yummy by itself too! The only negative that I could say is if you order through Seamless, they require you to tip them more than 20 percent. I actually think its 25 percent, which is really crazy to me. Mine was a little over 20 dollars and they were making me pay a 5 dollar and something tip! Crazy. But it is still really good and will order from here whenever I get a craving for Italian!

Really enjoyed this place tonight! Came here with my daughter. Good service, very good food and reasonable prices. We had three appetizers; a bean dish, a salad and grilled octopus. All very good and the grilled octopus was the highlight. We were full after the appetizers and great bread basket. We then shared sninach gnocchi with bolognese sauce. The sauce was delicious and the gnocchi was light but not as fluffy as I have had in other places… but no complaints. Very good. Nice atmosphere. And for about $ 60 with a glass of wine, a very good value!

Went here last night with the brother and the fiancé. The conversation circled around the benefits of owning a 7 – 11 or Subway restaurant shops before it settled down into potential baby names. I remember my conversations and this restaurant being better the last time I went a few years ago. We ordered the following dishes: Appetizers: –The salami and mozzarella special(5 stars): Best thing I ate all day. Superb, we saw a bunch of other tables around us order this dish so hopped on the bandwagon. –Grilled Calamari(3 stars): I enjoyed it very much in that it gets rid of the fried bits of the standard calamari you get at a typical restaurant. The light flavors were also a pleasantry. –Bruschetta(3 stars): Given to us for free since we waited over an hour to get a table. Standard bruschetta. Dinner: –Tortellini Bolognese: I didn’t try so can’t rank it. My brother ate the entire dish and said it was quite tasty. He also ate only one tortellini at a time I presume to slow down the pace of his eating. He also avoided the meat sauce because he likes meat and he likes sauce but the combination scares him. We will omit a score rating for this for now. –Rigatoni with sausage ragu(2.5 stars): This was off the specials menu which is significantly higher priced than the regular menu. The fiancé found it to be really underwhelming. They ran out of oxtail so switched it with sausage yet still charged the special price. There was only 3 baby pieces of sausage. –Spinach gnocchi with the bleu cheese sauce(3.5 stars): Very good but it would have been nice to have a sharper bleu cheese flavor. Overall, the food is good but if I am around the area I would rather venture to Supper at the other end of the street.

Started with moscato down at the bar then went upstairs for dinner. Had the vegetarian and meat platters for appetizers. Then had pasta with seafood, pasta with shrimp, and arrabiato. For dessert, tried tiramisu, nonna and hazelnut. All tasty. Servers were attentive and helpful. Always refilling our glasses. And evenly spaced courses. Cash only so come prepared. Enjoy ur meal!
