Still a really fantastic restaurant! The staff is so personable, and the owner enjoys playing the host, offering recommendations and chatting with everyone. The food is just as amazing as ever, every bite bursting with flavor. The cavatelli is still a favorite, but the meatballs are absolutely out of this world. They are melt in your mouth, almost fall apart tender, coated in a generous amount of slightly sweet red sauce. I forget what it’s called on the menu, but they have this dish with wide pasta and cherry tomatoes that seems deceptively simple. I’m not usually such a fan of cherry tomatoes but the sauce is just so damn flavorful and delicious.

What a fantastically charming spot! Myself and two friends were in from out of town and we dined here on a Friday night around 8:30pm. It’s a small space, so I wouldn’t recommend it for a group larger than 3 or 4, but the wait was only about 20 minutes, and the staff was excellent at making even that part comfortable. We enjoyed a glass of wine before our table was ready, and browsed the impressive authentic Italian menu. Being from out of town, I was especially impressed with how kind and welcoming the staff was(especially the eccentric owner Julio!), and how much we felt at home throughout the course of our experience. I can’t recommend this place highly enough!

Il Posto Accanto is one of my favorite go-to spots in the city. Not only is the food phenomenal but the vibe is so «old NY» that it really is a gem. I mean, a restaurant in this city doesn’t last for 20 years + without reason. Pasta is always cooked to perfection and portions are what should be served. Just the right amount to satiate and not put you into a food coma. And there’s always some locally sourced seasonal delight on the menu(or off the menu depending on who you’re talking to). Brunch is the best deal of the week with amazing adaptations of common American favorites but done with a little Roman flare. If you don’t drink wine, you should! The selections are great. I have to give this place 5 stars and will definitely be back!

The service is pretty bad, or maybe it’s this rude waiter that has something against me… but it’s great in the summer — because of the outdoor seating, I don’t know why anyone would come here during the winter

This place is an amazing hole in the wall. I went last night with my boyfriend because we live in the area and didn’t want to walk far. It was a Sunday night and we were lazy, hungover, and hungry. This place was so satisfying I want to come back every Sunday night. My only small complaint was that I wanted a little more food in my plate. However I left not overly stuffed which is probably a good thing. The inside seemed like there was no effort in decorating… Not very appealing. But the food made up for it 10000%. It tasted sooo good. The vibe grew on me and they were playing reggae music and the football game which seemed out of place for a nice Italian place but pretty awesome. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They seemed to know everyone walking in and out and made everyone, including us, very comfortable.

Love the very good food and service, a mainstay of many ships and attitudes passing in the night.

I fell in love with this place. Was actually heading to Supper down the block but decided to try something new instead. I cant say enough good things about this place. Its small but its cozy. Theres a dim beautiful ambiance here which I loved. The service was extremely attentive and the food is AMAZING. Ordered a bottle of Riesling which was excellent. Then decided to start with the eggplant croquettes which were delicious!!! Definitely not your typical eggplant dish. The fresh mozzarella was superb. For entrees ordered the fettuccine with mushroom, garlic, oil and cherry tomatoes. That dish totally exceeded my expectations, it was perfect. I was ready to order a second order of it because it was that good. After that finished with the filet mignon & arugula which was delicious as well. The steak was juicy and the salad was fresh. This place is beautiful and if your in the area I would highly recommend it. Its still the East Village so on top of great food you’ll still get that chill vibe!

I was really looking forward to eating here, especially after reading fabulous reviews on The Infatuation(which is generally very critical) and Unilocal. The bummer here is that I had passed by Supper on my way to Il Posto, and nearly chose to eat at Supper! I definitely had wanted to try there as well. My Russian date and I stuck with Il Posto with misgivings. As he put it, rarely is atmosphere a determining factor. At Il Posto, however, it definitely was. The pretty good pasta hardly made up for the dive bar feel of this restaurant. It was dark, and mainly consisted of common tables and a bar. Furthermore, the food was expensive, considering the portions. We ordered the cavatelli with spicy sausage and the caprese salad.(We were looking for late night apps after a fabulous starter at The Oyster Bar a few hours earlier). While I love sharing app portions, I don’t know that the pasta was good enough to be worth it. Fun fact: It seems nearly every pasta on the menu has sausage. If you don’t like sausage, hopefully you like meatballs! Apparently this restaurant is known for the ‘balls. I’m not a fan of either. My hot date and I moved to one of the outside tables a quarter of the way into our meal… We were in luck, because a congregation of bikers were revving their engines at that same moment, adding the sweet taste of gasoline to our spicy sausage and pasta. Mama Mia! I’m thoroughly surprised about the high reviews for this place. I’m glad I checked it off my list, but unfortunately won’t be coming back.

I’ve had brunch/dinner/snacks/just wine and It just feels like home. My favorite dishes are the ribbon eggs at brunch and the cavatelli for dinner, The cavatelli has truffle oil, it just speaks to me. I’ve had most of the dishes here and everything is super tasty. Great atmosphere, love sitting in the inside/outside seat or at the bar.

Disappointed. We were expecting great food at fair prices. We got ok food at high prices. Linguine Vongole with 4 clams and ½ portion of linguine for $ 16? And nothing special. ½ portion of Tagliatelle with 2 – 3 shrimp for $ 15., with a ‘touch of cream, which was like a ¼ cup. A polenta with mushrooms for $ 14 which was made perfectly except for the chiles which made it very spicy you could hardly enjoy it? Apple tart which was doughy? Primitivi wine which was excellent, but at more that double the retail price. Good bread basket. Olive oil with balsamic which had had way too much balsamic? Ok. Enough said. $ 105 without the tip! We won’t be back. Oh yes, if you like dogs Unilocaling from the curbside tables while you’re eating, go here.

Cute place with great service and good prices! The cavatelli ricotta with sausage and mushrooms pasta and the scialatielli were the best pastas of the night. Didn’t like the sea urchin pasta much. The pistachio gelato was awesome!

This place is the best. First, I love the atmosphere; this is a great date spot, sleek, with a nice bar, and now that it’s summer, there’s some beautiful sidewalk seating The service is friendly, helpful, and often entertaining – the wait staff boasts a couple of personalities. And the food is not only delicious, but also one of the best values in the neighborhood. My girlfriend and I always get a pasta dish each and another small plate to share, and leave satisfied but not stuffed without paying more than 40 – 45 bucks(before tax and tip, as well as dessert and wine – both worth doing). The cavatelli is the star among the pastas I’ve had, though I’ve enjoyed all of them. It’s really something else. The wine list is solid and not overexpensive. We love having this nearby – I’d strongly recommend you give it a shot.

Great little spot to enjoy an intimate night with someone special or dinner with your girls. The warm and relaxed atmosphere is particularly welcoming after a long day. Love, love, love the wine selections! I tried the Lambrusco red wine which went great with the Taglinolini al limone con gamberi. A mouth full but really good. Overall it’s a cute little spot with a whole lot of charm.

This is a real LES gem with excellent Italian style dishes and fantastic Wine selection both by bottle and glass. Staff here are great — lots of local color. And the management here really knows it’s stuff with food — menu being a bit old school but no complaints — fantastic pastas, panini, fetunta, veggies etc. All executed perfectly. Interesting place — highly recommended.

Great spot. Live down the block & finally stopped by. Owner & his wife run the shop and make the ambiance with their personal greetings and recommendations. Felt well taken care of with an amazing wine recommendation, and flawless preparation of every dish. A must try for anyone in the neighborhood.

Amazing place. Flavors are exploding. Homey authentic Italian cuisine with Latin music perfectly in sync in the background. Owner is behind the bar. My kind of place. if you’re into red wine. Try the Langhe Nebbiolo. F U Mar…

My boyfriend and I passed by here last night on the way to another bar to watch the Knicks game on TV. We saw that they had the game on so we made a mental note of the place in case we needed a back-up plan. We DID need a back-up plan. We went inside and asked if the kitchen was still open(it was 10p, I believe.) They were so we took a seat at the bar. Before we sat, someone offered us his seat so we could sit together. We later found out that it was the owner and he was a totally awesome guy. We just wanted food to share while we watched the game. We ordered the grilled squid(AMAZING) and the fondue(EVENMOREAMAZING.) The bread basket was also amazing; it wasn’t just one basket though. We had maybe 3 or 4 baskets that the waiter made sure was immediately provided once we ran out. The ambiance was wonderful; dark but with warm lighting and beautiful décor. The music was pretty great. It went from some jazzy cover of Steely Dan to Wu Tang. Doesn’t get much better than that. ALSO, the prices were amazing. $ 17 for fondue or something like that?! Insanity. The only gripe I have is that there is ONLY wine and no other kinds of alcohol. I’m not really into wine, I love my beer. But for the food, I’ll definitely be coming back often. I’ll dream of the fondue until then.

Spotted: Padma Lakshmi! Score. Came here for dinner and had a lovely dining experience! It is a very cozy/romantic spot with a wine bar vibe but with nice sized sharing plates. As soon as we sat at the bar, the bartender apologized for being busy but soon helped us select a white wine to start. The small bread basket was a wonderful little surprise. Really enjoyed the artisanal breads and balsamic/olive oil to dip. The bartender made 4 recommendations which we went with: sautéed spinach, eggplant croquettes, pasta with sweet sausage and a frisée salad with bacon and egg. All were very nice dishes but my favorite was the pasta. The cream sauce was cheesy but light and the sausage paired with peas gave a nice balance of salty and creamy. Yum yum! I would definitely go back if I ever make it that far on east second!
