This place has since changed over to Alberto’s Mofongo House and they are no longer offering buffet. The food is similar and now just OK, but I definitely must downgrade my prior review for the fact that one of the best buffets in the area is now gone. Won’t be back to this place, not worth return visits.

Food: 3.5& Service: 3.5 My overall rating of this place is a 4 based on the fact that it always hits the spot right, with the buffet, and its open 24⁄7. his is the best spot for some good dominican food after the bars on dyckman. Although the name is really confusing(lol…I mistakenly took it for the actual ihop on google maps). Its not bad at all. Its literally connected to a small club which was was divided by a wall before, but now they have the Bar in between both.

IHOP? International House of Platanos? Anyway, the place is good. Not great but it gets the job done. FYI: They finally decided to combine that bootleg back space with the rest of the restaurant. Good decision.

This place isn’t the nicest but the food is great and they’re open 24 hours, what more can you ask for? For $ 15, you get an all you can eat Dominican buffet. It’s also attached to a small bar/lounge that plays excellent music every night. The service is ok but the food is very good & the price is right.

I just ate there with my husband and two kids. My husband and kid had the buffet while the other and I had a breakfast made to order. I had 3 Golpes and the mangu was so nasty. As I am writing this I am nauseous and my stomach is hurting me. It’s been about 2 hours since we ate. My husbands stomach is not so well. I’m waiting on my kids to see if their okay. We ate at 12noon where the food should still be fresh, and while I was there I was not happy with the cleanliness. I ordered water to drink and I am not sure if that was even filtered. NEVEREVEREVERAGAIN!

It’s a buffet of Dominican food. I’m from DR and very critical of the food, but I loved it all. It was around 12am when we got there and the food was still delicious. The Pastelon and the Longaniza with the mangu was perfect. I didn’t pay, but I think I was 7 – 9 for this buffet. They had salads, crab meat, soups, mondongo, different types of rice, scrambled eggs, and the classic Country club drinks like Fanbruesa y Merengue!

I woke up with a craving for breakfast. I really wanted to fry up some bacon and eggs but I didn’t think the roommate of the apartment I am subletting would appreciate that. I really wanted to walk over to Indian Road, but felt too lazy. It was hot. I decided to bite the bullet and check out this place despite the mediocre Unilocal reviews and my disdain for all you can eat buffets(also known as troughs.) I ordered the Mexican Omlette and a Diet Coke. I sprang the extra $.65 to add cheese. The plate came with two pieces of toast, potatoes, and the omlette itself. Good thing I decided to add cheese because it was really the only good thing about it. The eggs were dry and there was way too much onion. The best thing about the dish were the potatoes, which was unexpected. The toast was inedible. I think this is a place you would go to if you were drunk or stoned late at night or woke up with a bad hangover. I would not advise going there sober, expecting something delicious. As for my craving? It sort of hit the spot, but not really. All I could think about is how much better I could have made this plate and for much less.(The receipt came to $ 10.96) Proceed with caution and low expectations.

Not much of selection. Food not very fresh. I was also ripped off with a groupon deal. Never again, I don’t like to be deceived. Not very friendly.

Low rating because the take out is too slow. Both times I’ve given them a try I’ve waited 15 – 20 minutes for mediocre food. I might as well have eaten there. The buffet doesn’t look that great. Only plus is that they are open 24 hours.

Well, I got ‘taken’ by their Groupon deal. I’ve been here several times in the past, and always felt it was a great place to come for some plentiful, home-style Latin food after wandering through Fort Tryon Park and visiting the Cloisters or going to the Medieval Fair. It’s usually tasty and fresh. I didn’t look at the Groupon that closely, though. It claimed I was getting a $ 32. value for $ 14., which was a buffet meal for two. The price for their buffet when we went, this time, was $ 7.95 per person. So that means the total savings was $ 1.90. Or, it would have been, had they not added on a generous tip based on the alleged ‘value.’(It’s a buffet. There isn’t really waitress service.) The buffet is slightly more at other times…(weekends? evenings?). Then, it’s $ 10.95 per person. There is no way that 2 buffets here ever cost $ 32. I think we also arrived at a less busy or just randomly less-opportune time this visit, as well. The food just didn’t seem as tasty as usual, and the fried plantains(usually my favorite!) tasted a bit off. I don’t want to give two stars, because I still have a lot of warm and happy memories associated with this place… but the Groupon thing really annoyed me, and the food really just wasn’t as good as it was in the past. The name of the place is really«International Food House,» it’s attached to «Alberto’s Mofongo House,» which is a sit-down restaurant, and nightclub.

I went here with a friend because he got a groupon. Awful. I’m sorry but it is messy, the food is so over cooked, most of it wasn’t warm, and it just seemed old. We went on a Sunday around 5:30pm…couldn’t find parking. I drove around a good 20 minutes before I finally found a space ½ mile away. So it’s not a good place to drive to. The ‘waitress’ wasn’t very friendly. All she did was bring us a drink and never came back. Maybe it is better if you go during the week when it’s a little slower? I would much rather go to one of those Chinese Buffets. Much bigger and better selection. I’m not a fan.

Ok so, its all you can eat for 7.95 on weekdays and 11.95 on weekends… SOWHAT!!! After one taste you are going to wish you didnt eat anything at all! The food is disgusting! Salty and how in the world do you mess up a potato salad? The plates are so overused that they have stained set in! i had to look through 3 stacks to get a clean one. The staff is friendly but thats def not enough to make me return. If i see them in the streets i may say hello but they wont see me there again! …Oh and when i gave my credit card i felt like i was being punked! one person takes it, another asks me for it. then realizes the other person has it.3 minutes laters another person asks if i signed and another yells from across the restaurant… I have it.5 minutes later finally i get my card; and i feel bad for the ordeal the poor thing had to go through… SMH

I’ve tried many buffets and i love going to such places. But this place deffinitely won’t be my fav. Don’t wana talk too much about the place. The assortment is really small. Rice was too dry. I liked the ribs and plantains were tasty though. The rest of the food is so-so. The dessert is served at a separate price, which was disappointing. The server could hardly speak English and talked to other servers rather than taking care of us. All in all, i expected something way better! I don’t think i will come back.

goddammmmm i love this place haha im filipino & this dominican buffet comes relatively close to filipino food. it’s open 24 hours & the best after a long night of binge drinking =D SETTING: during the day/afternoon/early evening, it’s pretty peaceful. a good amount of tables+chairs & a buffet at the back. HOWEVER, late at night/on & around 3am, it gets really crazy crowded & loud [mostly because Albert’s Mofongo House turns into a club]. you can hear music spewing from next door. [no complaints here — i just want my food!] FOOD: the buffet has a pretty good assortment. RICE: they have a good variety; yellow /with sausage /with chicken /[last night i had the one with smoked fish] PASTA: lately, they’ve been making a lot of spaghetti. they used to have lasagna all the time but i haven’t seen the dish served in a while. i don’t like the spag but i know that a lot of people do. it’s really salty on certain days. BROTHYSTEWS: i honestly don’t know what it’s called but the one with tripe is yummy! [i love tripe] they also have one with chicken & one with pork. FRIEDSTUFF: they have fried plantains all the time [fave] and sometimes, they have fried fish &/or fried chicken ENTREES: also, good notables are — pork chops & ribs/riblets BREAKFASTFOOD: around 2−3am they also have fried eggs, scrambled eggs, fried sausages links, spicy sausage & a variety of scrambles. i love the spicy sausage! SERVICE: servers are always speedy. we’ve never had a bad experience here. PRICE: i honestly think that they jack up the price on certain times. once, for a two-person dinner at around 7pm, it came out to around $ 30~ with drinks. but a four person dinner at around 3am, total came out to a little over $ 80~ with drinks. xoxo

This place is a great and inexpensive find in New York! Went on a Saturday night and was relatively empty… it may be the season tho as well. The food was good and the servers are attentive(although i dont like the«mi amor» comments when I dont know someone, but I guess its a hispanic thing).

This is a 24-hour Dominican buffet(they have an a la carte menu but I’ve never made us of it) located conveniently right next to the Dyckman stop on the A train. Basically, if you are in need of a large quantity of food at any hour(which, for me, tends to mean when I am coming home from a bar downtown) this is the place. They don’t always have roast pork, but when they do OMGSOGOOD. Other favorite includes stewed pigs’ feet, maduros(sweet fried plantains), eggplant stew, bacalao, etc., etc. The chicken is good too, but I always go for the pork. There is a full bar as well, that gets pretty hopping on weeknights. I’ve come by at like 3am on a weeknight(morning) and the bar is packed. I’ve always stuck to the buffet, though.

Drunken Stop-off A good all you can eat buffet in my neighborhood. I tend to stop by on friday & saturday after a night of drinking. Selection is pretty good. To much to explain, I recommend you stop by yourself. Staff is nice.

Ever anxious to try the next all-you-can eatery, I was excited about this place. You see, up to this point in my all-you-can-eat(here forth to be known as ayce) journey, I’ve yet to try an ayce specializing in Latin American food. Enter International Food House, located up north on 200th& Dyckman Street. If you know me, then you know that I love food, I love ayce, and I’ll travel long distances for meals. As an ayce, this place doesn’t have a whole lot of selections. Not much variety. As a Latin American restaurant, this place has the right dishes, and they are filling. AYCE?, check! Incentive?, check! So, I got my grub on. I feasted on Simmered Pork, Fried Chicken, Stewed Chicken, and Oxtails/feet. I savored the Stewed Beef with Vegetables, and the Fish Filets. And, I passed on the white rice, rice & beans, and the Roasted Chicken(looked dry). Be picky with your food. Choose the meats/cuts that look nicely marbleized. I enjoyed my experience here. Nine bucks for an ayce is not a bad deal. I’d recommend this place to anyone who hasn’t tried it. However, having tried every item that I wanted to try, and only discovering about 3 favorite dishes, I would not make the trek up here again.
