It’s closed, replaced by a store that is also closing. :(This was a favorite. We’re so disappointed.

This is a nice, big, comfortable space on a really cool street in SOHO. The food is pretty basic italian but done well.

Food was OK. The reason why I’m going one star is simple. I was there last night with a friend visiting from France. She comes to the US often. I’m Italian and I’ve been living in the US for years now. We both know the art of tipping pretty well. Nevertheless the server had the great idea to apply a 20% gratuity on after taxes total automatically. Automatic gratuity for a table of two?!? I preferred to avoid an argue — it isn’t the size of the tip but the fact that it has been added without notice that bother me, clearly because they thought we were two tourists. Not cool, I won’t be back.

so 3 Little Birds– had the eponymous drink and it was great and unusual. Pricey for what you get. No complaints, not really a showstopper… would be a great stop on an upscale bar crawl…

The West Village location had always been one of my favorite restaurants so now that its closed, I thought I’d give this location a shot. I was happy to see the menu was identical and for the most part so was the food. My steak was a bit thicker than it was in the other location but I can’t complain about that. The service was great. The waiter was top notch(though he took awhile to bring the check(to his defense, he probably didn’t want to be pushy)). The atmosphere was very cool and SoHo-ish though almost too minimal.

we went here for dinner on a cold weeknight and to my surprise the place was pretty empty. after looking at the menu my friend and i agreed that pasta would be a safe bet. the waitress gave us a dirty look when we did not order any alcohol; just water the food came out pretty quickly and now i know why; the pasta was undercooked; tough and had alot of water in the dish. nice ambiance i have to say a good spot for a date.

We stumbled across I Tre Merli when we were trying to find place to eat lunch after we shopped on Broadway. I was shopping on an empty stomach and ran out of steam fast, so we had to eat or I’d be Miss Cranky Pants to the nth degree. The boyfriend, our friend and I couldn’t decide where to eat. I didn’t know what I felt like eating, but we continued to walk around the side streets off Broadway with hopes we’d find a spot where we can rest our tootsies and re-energize with some good food. We did walk past a few grab & go spots, but none allured to me. When we walked an extra few blocks and I saw a lovely flag from a short distance that marked I Tre Merli being a restaurant, that’s when I made the executive decision that we were going to eat there for lunch. They just opened at 11:30 that morning, so we were the first customers there. We ordered a caprese salad to start off with and then I decided on getting the chicken dish with brussel sprouts. My bf got the rigatoni dish and our buddy got the mushroom ravioli entrée. We shared a side of fries, they were probably the most simple, but most tasty fries I’ve had in New York. Service was a little slow, but I didn’t care since I was in no hurry to get back on my feet to do more shopping. More customers started filing up the restaurant as we inhaled our lunch. Three more of our friends joined us as we were in the middle of eating, but our server was able to place their order quickly so they can grub with us. I’d go back here, it was a nice surprise to find this place in the midst of trying to find a decent place to dine at on this particular day we were in the SoHo neighborhood. We continued shopping for a few more hours thanks to being able to fuel up at I Tre Merli. Have a seat facing the sidewalk and you’re at a great spot to people watch, that I enjoyed as I no longer turned into Miss Cranky Pants(although it was a close call, lol).

According to my Dad, this place used to be an insanely hip place — all the rage. It’s never«packed» when I’m there but it’s busy, especially after nearby gallery openings. It’s a great place to be some big-shot art dealers — there are always interesting people looking for good convos. Small bar to sit at, but it’s intimate. Order a Nickoli shot when you arrive — its always the start to a great night. It’s a vodka shot served with a thin lemon slice that’s dusted with ground espresso beans. If shots aren’t your thing, everyone is very knowledgeable about their wonderful wine list. Their salads are always fresh — my favorite Mozzarella Di Bufala alla Caprese is well worth the $ 14. The tomatoes are thick and properly ripe while the mozzarella is equally thick, milky and has the perfect slightly salty taste. Make your visit worth while and don’t leave without trying the Fichi e Gorgonzola — a pizza with prosciutto, gorgonzola and fig jam. The flavor combination of sharp, salty and sweet is unreal.

This is a review of the bar: A nice open and very high-ceiling restaurant with a bar at the end of the restaurant, we really wanted a drink on this hot day, we sat by the bar and could look out to the Soho streets. Nice space! It was nice and relaxing. There was a huge flat screen TV on the entrance wall only seen from the inside. It was quiet at 3 – 4PM but it’s probably a good place to hang out at night. Right as we asked for the check, the bartender decided to make us a shot it was a vodka shot with some coffee powder dust and a lemon. It was a good combination! Thanks for the shots! 3.5 stars

This is really 3.5 stars, but I’ll round it up. My boyfriend and I tried to use a ScoutMob deal but didn’t realize that this was the wrong restaurant — it’s the elusive bistro that has the deal. Oh well. We went for brunch, and it was empty when we got there at about 11:30, which made us pretty nervous. The restaurant is beautiful though, there’s a huge skylight which lights the whole place up. The back bar area looks perfect for a happy hour. I ordered the salmon tartar sandwich, which is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. It was perfectly seasoned, and the side salad that went with it was light and delightful. My boyfriend was less crazy about his pancakes, which were tasty, but plain. The«seasonal fruit» mentioned on the menu consisted of one strawberry. It was a pretty good value though, since our $ 10-$ 12 entrees came with a free mimosa. I might come back here for dinner, or for brunch with a non vegetarian.

Cool spot(big place). I had a beer and their«dolcezza» dessert, which was pretty good.

This was not a good restaurant for two reasons: mediocre food and terrible service. First, a waiter took break off another table that had eaten some of the bread and put it on ours. I then had to ask for fresh bread. We tried to order wine and several options on the limited menu were sold out, to the point it made more sense to just ask what they DID have. I went on Valentine’s Day and they had a pre fixe menu… and one of the three entrée options was sold out! One positive point, the ambience was nice. It would have been a great spot for a date or night out with friends had the food and service both been much better.

Stumbled upon here while celebrating my anniversary with my boyfriend. We were intrigued by the inside of this place. It’s very open, big windows, with a bar in the back up a few steps. We sat at the bar, and both ordered a glass of red wine(Dolcetto). Our bartender was really nice, she helped us with some questions we had about the menu. We ordered the beef tartare and a salad with shrimp and watermelon. Both were delicious, the tartare has black truffle in it which made it very memorable. The salad was refreshing, wish it was a little bigger. We both loved the music they play here, 80’s New Wave… gives this place a really cool vibe.

I think I’d have to give this place between 2.5 and 3 stars. Wine selection: pretty decent. Atmosphere: A-OK. Staff: On top of things but almost hover-y as to how much they’re keeping an eye on our table. Food: what meatless things I sampled, I’ve experienced better but some was pleasant(cheese plate noms). I’d recommend this place if you’re in the area and looking for flavorful meat/cheese plates to pair with some decent Italian wine while staying in a pretty moderate price range.

Do NOT go to this restaurant. Normally there is a harmonious balance between the quality of a restaurants interior and the food served. Not here. We recently had a 4 course meal consisting of a supermarket sausage heated up and served in its own fat, followed by a microwave pasta dish and somethong that vaguely resembled a duck(in form not taste). Believing that nothing could top our 3 course serving of tripe, we were presented with the desert, consisting of a large serving of stale boxed fruit cake. … all this for a price of $ 120 for two. Do not go to this restaurant

Passable. Not bad, not memorable. My pasta was a bit soggy and over sauced and the one thing I wanted(shishito peppers) was out for the day. The vibe was modern, but a little confusing since at first it seemed great for a date but then there’s a gigantic multi-screened tv showing sports above the entrance.

Its not bad, its just ok. Started off with a glass of wine, nice and flavorful. To accompany that, my friend and I ordered 3 appetizers(3 for $ 15). We got 2 cheeses and 1 salami. I really liked one of the cheese, tasted like brie yet it was super creamy. The other cheese was ok, the salami was ok. My main course was pizza. They were pretty generous with the toppings, lots of mushrooms and ham. I was unable to finish the whole pizza so I asked them to pack it for me. I took it back home in the container and when I got home, I realized the waiter had put all my pizza upside down in the container. Who packs your pizza upside down? Minus one star for that.

I went for a wine tasting event. It was my first wine event I Tre Merli. The were delicious and the food given during the event was superb! The two Italian Imported White Wines were offered during the tasting event, LiCoste and Deja. But thefood was the best part! The amazing apps were thin crust pizzas(cheese; italian sausage; truffle). but the Truffle pizza was fantastic! I will be going back for more that pizza! In addition they served delicious breaded and fried meat/olive balls, and onion focaccia bread a selection of mixed fried vegetables. Amazing Place! I will be going back just for dinner.

I went here yesterday for a wine tasting event. This was my first time at I Tre Merli, and I will definitely be returning! Not only were the wines delicious, but the food offered during the event was great! The wines offered were by Domodimonti, which I think I Tre Merli is adding to its menu… The two wines offered during the tasting were LiCoste and Deja. LiCoste was sweeter than I would have preferred, particularly considering the appetizers that were being served, but with the right food selection I’m sure it’s fantastic. I spent most of my time getting refills of Deja. It worked really well with the appetizers that were available. The food consisted of various thin crust pizzas(cheese; italian sausage; truffle). All three were great — but the Truffle pizza was fantastic! In addition they served delicious breaded and fried meat/olive balls, and mouthwatering onion focaccia bread. Lastly, a large selection of mixed fried vegetables — couldn’t get enough of the cauliflower! The restaurant was open during the event, and the food being served at the tables looked enjoyable. Portions seemed very reasonable, and it seemed that the entrees were large enough to satisfy without making you feel like you’re about to explode after. I think I could probably be more than satisfied going there, drinking some delicious wines and splitting pizza and appetizers with friends for something a little more low-key. The space is surprisingly large, and all the staff members were super friendly. What I really liked was how clean the entire space was! In the end, this would be a great place for an intimate dinner/date, but also a nice place to grab some wine, and share some great appetizers with friends before going out to a show or a movie at IFC.

Just happened to be bumming around SoHo with a few friends and stumbled across I Tre Merli. From the outside, the place is very inviting, as it has large floor-to-ceiling doors. We walk in and I think, «Why would a nice big place like this, in SoHo, only have a few tables seated? «I got my answer shortly there after. We were seated and take not of the atmosphere and décor. The dining room doesn’t feel cramped due to the high ceilings. The theme was headed in the right direction, but the execution was wrong. The wall of wine bottle would be interesting if it wasn’t coated in dust. I guess that translates into«rustic» eh? Our waitress didn’t understand or speak English very well!(Hello, WTF ! Why are you waiting tables?) So another server replaced her. He was a little better, but seemed to be working all the tables. We didn’t have any apps as it was a late lunch and would be meeting for dinner later. Ordered various entrées which, came out at different times and the quality of those entrees ranged from ok/average to down right bad. The chicken was undercooked, the other persons farfalle was salty. My rigatoni was good, but dry. It was definitely a meal to forget. When we requested the bill, it was a train wreck, but after speaking with the manager, he gave us a discount and apology due to our bad experience. After a while a few more tables were seated, but it appears that people come here for the bar not the food. I suggest the same. Avoid this place, unless you’re going to the bar. It’s not worth the bland food or bad service.
