Loved the live music that was playing(a pianist and a guitarist). The atmosphere was very cozy. The pizza was really good — not the best of the best but up there. The Bolognese sauce was definitely my favorite.

Okay this is my favorite place to go out of pizza for three reasons: 1. The atmosphere is incredible. They have live music and sometimes the waiters take the stage which is always fun 2. The pizza is reasonably priced. For $ 20-$ 25 you get a huge pizza that can be shared with 2 people. 3. One of the waiters looks exactly like me, and we have now become great friends #doppelgänger What to get: — the spinach tastes so fresh, and it compliments a simple cheese pizza so well What to skip: — the meat lovers pizza is not Arturo’s best. My recommendation is go simple. Get a good margarita with half basil and half spinach while listening to some impressive vocals — you won’t be disappointed ! :D

The atmosphere is amazingly friendly. The pizza was good., yet not hot enough for a pizza that just came out of the oven. The price is reasonable.

Regarding the prosciutto & mozzarella appetizer When you go to the grocery store you can find vacuum sealed mozzarella cheese. it’s great in a pinch to shred at home when you want to cook on a weeknight. When you go to a real Italian store you find balls/braided mozzarella cheese waiting its glorious juices to be packaged and sold. This is the kinda stuff you want to eat with your hands immediately upon purchase. Fresh and good looking prosciutto has a vibrant hue with steaks of perfectly trimmed white fat. Its amazing. It’s so good. BUT! When you go to Arturo’s and order this appetizer you get supermarket cheese. Shaped and formed — no juice, nothing. You also get greyish-red slices of prosciutto — I can only assume leftover from the weekend in the fridge. Don’t worry you also get out of the jar roasted red peppers… DONOTEVERORDERTHIS. I could go on to say that the ravioli are from the freezer aisle or that the free bread was over toasted or the arugula salad was totally drench in olive oil but why bother? The pizza looked good from afar — as far as I’m concerned this is a pizza bar not worth paying NYC prices for attempts at real food. Happy hunting!

There isn’t another place like it in New York — a neighborhood hangout that serves up consistently great food in a lively, relaxed, congenial setting. All this, and live jazz seven nights a week. Arturo’s is a Village institution, and no wonder. Amazing food, including coal-oven pizza. No pretension. Huge servings. Share everything. The only downside is the wait for a table, but if you grab a drink and listen to trio — or make a new friend at the bar– the time passes quickly.

The only reason I did not put 5 stars here; is that I did not get a chance to try the pizza. The food here is some of the best Italian food outside of Little Italy. I am definitely coming back here after a few weeks in the gym…

This place is a serious scene and a half, old school pizzeria with live music and regulars planted on stools at the bar. Two groups of my companions met up here, each asked the hostess to place them on the list and were given a seating time. Disorganized hostess told the first of our group 40 minutes and a moment later told the second of our group 20 minutes. ??? Other hopefuls got in line behind us until there was no room to move in the front area. The hostess gave them all disparate wait times as well. Bar patrons were three rows deep and there was barely room between those at the bar and people seated at tables for waitstaff to squeeze past everyone and the live band. The wait ended up being 50 minutes. I would have left way earlier but my companions were set on having pizza. I had pasta which was authentic but my appetite had waned. Waiter was efficient and entertaining. As much fun as this could have been, between the crush and the seating issues, it wasn’t fun at all. Good spot if you have time to leisurely hang but not so much if it is a weekend as Arturo’s doesn’t accept reservations on Saturday and Sunday.

Best coal oven Pizza ever! Love the music, love the food and love love love the staff. I eat there often and the whole staff treats me like family. Love the Kale and Bean Salad and Veal Saltanbucco and the garlic bread with cheese is on point! Suggestion, ask for a side of Marinara sauce to dip the Garlic Bread in. Lisa and Scotty, the owners, always treat me as if I were a King. I have to send some love to Chris(Mgr/Waiter), Jimmy L.(Waiter), Jimmy D.(Waiter), Leah(Waitress), Mario(Chef), Manny(Chef), Jane(Waitress), Tony(Bartender), Harold(Mgr) and of course Camilla my #1 server(Waitress)! I also recommend a Lg. Bacon Onion Pizza! Enjoy!!!

Last night a friend and I caught a movie at Angelika Film Center and came to Arturo’s afterwards. The atmosphere was lit. They had live jazz music that was awesome. We had some drinks and delicious mussels with wine sauce and garlic bread. I can’t wait to come back and tu more dishes!

Very good dinner here on a Sunday early evening before going to Theater District. Cool old school vibe to the place. Sat at the first table near the door in the bar section. For us it was a good choice because the corner window is there so it was well lit and we had a view of outside happenings. If it was a hot or cold day would not have been such a good choice with the front door opening and closing, but on a nice fall evening, was kinda nice. There is a piano in the bar section placed in back near the kitchen which an older gentleman was pounding out some standards on, very cool! Also seemed to be some regulars at the bar right next to us. I had veal scallopini($ 21). Wife had Manicotti($ 16). Both very good. The veal was garlicky(I like garlic), lemony, not very heavy. Very tasty. Manicotti was much more rich, but I liked the red sauce, and the pasta itself tasted home made. Price was very reasonable for the quality of the food offered. Recommended for great atmosphere and quality of food for the $. Will try other items upon our return to NYC in the future.

Pros: Old school ambiance and live music Con: We ordered Arturo’s Fiesta and were shocked by how bad it was!!! The crust was too hard and a little burnt, and the pizza itself lacked taste altogether; even adding salt and cheese couldn’t redeem it!

Great pizza, fast service, and affordable prices. What more can you ask for? Stumbled upon this place on a weekday night when looking for a place to eat. The pizzas looked delicious and filling so we gave it a shot. Absolutely no wait time. We were seated immediately outside. I really enjoyed the outdoor seating as it was perfect for a hot summer evening. We ordered the small Arturos’s Fiesta with sausage, peppers, mushrooms, and onions. The other pizzas were simple as well and not heavily loaded with toppings. Simplicity at its best. The small pizza is HUGE. We assumed the people next to us had ordered a large, but turns out it was a small. Definitely enough to share between 2 – 3 people. The pizza was reminiscent of authentic Italian pizza. The crust was neither too thin nor too thick. The toppings were well balanced and delicious. Service was great as well. Pizza came super quickly and everything down to getting the check was efficient.

The pizza served here combines the best characteristics of pizzas you’ve had in the past into one, all while not being too extreme on any one trait. The result is a well-balanced final product — pizza was not too oily, not too thick, not too thin, etc, and had a good amount of toppings — not too little so you felt skimped yet not too much so that everything would fall off if you took a bite. Great casual restaurant to enjoy some high quality pizza on a week night. Would recommend the fiesta one. Note: A small size is actually rather large and would be good enough for 2 – 3 people.

The Quick: Good pizza, better casual inviting environment, decent service. Limited outdoor seating, great spot for families with kids. Overpriced sauce($ 5 for a little cup??) for under sauced pizza. The Details: I enjoyed this spot for the welcoming environment, casual vibe and late night hours. The clientele is loud and happy, filled with kids. The pizza was very good; I have had better in the area, but still enjoyable. We had the meatball pie which could have used more meatball and more sauce, but was fairly filling for thin crust. Overall a good experience. The Damage: $ 35 for a meatball pie after tax(pre tip). This was enough for 3 people only because we ate apps elsewhere.

There aren’t too many places like these left. If you look inside Arturo’s on any night of the week around 8 pm, you’ll notice a full front of the house with live jazz music and plenty of life. If you come before 7 pm on a weeknight, you can have a really nice, low-key evening with a friend and a big, delicious pizza pie. The décor, as described, is pretty minimal but not without the charm of a place that’s been around for nearly 60 years. We sat down in the back where it was quieter and you can have a conversation, and even go on a date, as several couples around us were. There are also seats outside in warmer weather. The pizza itself is very, very good. Arturo’s pies come from old-school New York coal ovens and the crust is medium: closer in thickness to pizza slice joints than to the anorexic thin-crust pies you get at newer places like Moto, Vezzo, Waldy’s, etc. A small pie will feed two. Extra ingredients run up the price quickly, but go ahead and splurge. It’s one of the better pizza pies in the village(up there with John’s, to my mind).

***Authentic***Atmospheric***Romantic*** This original Italian restaurant is a hidden gem. I absolutely love dinning here. The food is delicious, the interior so cool you feel like sitting on the set of a Godfather movie. Just go and you will see for yourself I am not exaggerating! Great for a date, catching up with a good friend and bringing visitors here from outside NY.

Darunter natürlich viel Dean Martin, Rat Pack oder Klassiker wie Take the A-Train — allerdings alles instrumental.
