Really good! Had the goat biriyani, paneer kati roll, mango lassi, and lemonade. I don’t normally like goat but this was cooked and seasoned well… great biriyani. The kati roll was a bit more bland, the paneer wasn’t very seasoned and there was too much paratha to the amount of filling. The lassi and lemonade were really good and perfectly sweetened though. I would definitely hit this up as a regular lunch option if I worked around here.

I’ve been to this little cart three days in a row. Why? It has very light yet perfectly spiced vegetarian Indian food. I love the fact they go very light on the oil. Nonetheless, you still get the bright and spicy flavors of Indian food. I got their vegetarian platter twice — in addition to the regular items it contains(basmati rice, chickpeas, saag paneer and a green salad), it also contains the vegetable dish of the day. The chickpeas were savory, the saag paneer was plain one day but had a spicy kick the next day, and the green salad was colorful(strips of iceberg lettuce, bits of cucumber, and julienned raw carrot and beet). The first time I got the vegetarian platter, the veggie dish of the day was bits of seitan in a rich, masala sauce. It wasn’t heavy at all either. The second time I got this platter, the veggie dish was a mix of veggies cooked in flavorful spice — potato, carrot, pearl onion, mung bean, okra, broccoli stem, and celery. I even tried their mushroom kati roll. The guy who owns the truck takes several whole, fresh mushrooms and chops them up on his grill. He then adds their cilantro sauce to it. You can have him add an egg to that too. The kati bread itself isn’t greasy at all. This cart offers great value where pricing is concerned. The veggie platter is $ 6 and the mushroom kati roll is $ 5.50(extra 50 cents if you add an egg). I’ve been full each time I ate there. I’ve never been to the truck at the height of the lunch hour — I generally go after 2:30 pm. Thus, I’ve never had to wait for my food.

I got the Chicken Tikka Masala Platter for $ 7. Chicken was cooked too long, so it was tougher to chew. They cut it up into small pieces though, so it is not a real struggle to eat. The sauce was too liquid for my preference. I prefer Tikka Masala to have a thicker sauce over the rice. The food is okay, but I wouldn’t rave about the Chicken Tikka Masala. Portion is fine for $ 7. I was satisfied, but I could have eaten more.

I’m excited to have these guys as an option because they are one of the few purveyors of goat in midtown(the only one I know of). The biryani is excellent vegetarian or with chicken. They are one of the cheapest local lunch options at $ 5 – 8. The eponymous goat biryani doesn’t have a lot of meat but what is there is exceedingly well prepared — fat removed, only one bone in my plate, filled with suck able goodness. The rice is competent, some days amazing but always at least good and nice touch on the pickled garlic. Super friendly guys, laughed convincingly at my jokes even if I wasn’t sure they understood me. I recently edited and updgraded my review because in the 7 months I’ve been eating here they’ve definitely gotten better and more consistent. They are there more hours than most trucks for early or late lunchers. They also come out on the snowest, rainiest and/or hottest days of the year, when other trucks throw in the towel for the day. You have to admiore that kind of determination. For now, they still have one of the shortest lines on the block, althoughfor the life of me I don’t know why — matbe people see goat in the title and don’t realize the other options.
