How can I not love a 24 hour baker-deli that is conveniently located right where Upper East Side meets East Midtown? I like the paninis here, but love the desserts, especially when I am working late at night and need the sugar boost! The slice of perfectly moist red velvet cake is perfectly generous, and I think their carrot cake has just the right proportion of the carrot cake, the cream cheese frosting and the nuts. I think many of the other places have too much frosting or go overboard with nuts, such that you can’t really taste the carrot cake, but I think this place strikes the right balance. I also like the Napoleon and the fruit tartlets here. I had an éclair late at night, and it didn’t taste very fresh, so those must be bought earlier in the day.
