If I could leave ZERO stars I would. Ordered through Seamless at 10:37am and asked for ASAP delivery. Now, almost 3 hours later and 3 phone calls in to check on my order and still no food. I think what makes this worse is the absolute horrible customer service I received over the phone. I’ve been given 3 different excuses(none the same) about my order and then was rudely cut off and asked if I just wanted my money back when they couldn’t produce a time when the delivery had been sent out. Such a shame; Hale & Hearty always has good quality product, just don’t waste your time with this location.

Updated review. Ordered online on grub hub and was told the pick up time would be 1:50. I got there at 1:48 and was told by the staff«you just placed the order it won’t be ready by then». Excuse me? How hard is it to spoon my soup into a cup? And the price for a small soup ridiculous!!! Wouldn’t patronize this establishment again!!!

Love the concept of being able to grab a hot, steamy bowl of soup. The wide range of variety is a huge plus. The tomato basil with wild rice was really good. I need to come back to try other soups.

If I don’t come here for the soups then I come here for the salads! Pros: — Tossed to Order Salad — pick basically any 5 toppings for $ 11 something w/tax(cheaper than individually choosing 5 toppings or less); get to choose from mixed field greens, romaine, or baby spinach; have the option of getting it chopped or tossed — Always fresh Cons: — Don’t come around lunchtime — gets really crowded and there’s only two employees behind the salad bar

Doesn’t matter how good the soups are. The staff is incredibly rude. My friend and I went on a Friday night around 15 minutes until closing time. The people behind the counter were rolling their eyes. The cashier was acting like we inconvenienced her. Other patrons were still waking on/ordering so they were definitely not closed. We sat down in two chairs and the cashier walked over to us and told us to leave because they wanted to clean up. It takes five minutes to eat a soup but she felt the need to stop what she was doing and tell us to leave. So so so rude.

What a disappointment. I ordered Seamless from here 2 hours ago after being quoted a 45 minute delivery. I have called countless times to a busy signal and am afraid my order is lost in the abyss. To boot, their customer service is horrid. Do not recommend.

I don’t consider myself a boring lunch guy. I dare say that I’ve done my part risking stomach and limb out there sampling any street cart I could find. But alas, in this part of town, boring is par for the course. However, on the slight less boring side of the spectrum, lies Hale & Hearty. I’m always astonished at the lines here, but they move pretty quickly. I like that they give little samples of the soups, though today someone snatched my sample from right in front of me and downed it. Jerk. And I like that they keep mixing it up… new soups in and out all the time. What can I say… it’s a decent chain, and a good steady eddie lunch option.

Came for a quick lunch. Love that you can try your soup before you buy! Lots of variety. Usually service is less than spectacular, but today it was quick and painless. I ordered a large spinach salad with blue cheese, red onion, cruising, walnuts and apple. They added the balsamic vinaigrette and I knew it was overdressed… I also ordered a small chicken vegetable soup with noodles(the other option is couscous). The soup lacked flavor and was skimpy. Wouldn’t get it again.

I really enjoy Hale and Hearty and have recently switched up our Monday lunch orders to this location away from a few other deli’s in the area. The food is always good, lots of soup choices and I think the price is reasonable for the area and quality of food. My complaint is 3⁄3 times I have ordered the order has been wrong or there has been a complications. Of course they fixed it and sent the correction over within a timely manner but it is still annoying to have to call over and explain and then wait for the correction. Some of my co workers have stated that their lunch orders have taken over an hour to arrive at peak lunch hour however I have not experienced that.

Excellent food. I got the combo with small Chicken Tortilla soup, sourdough bread, and a half a chicken & guacamole sandwich. The food was served fast and was delicious. The seating gets rough around lunch time, but people eat fast so stick around if you’re looking for a table and have time to spare. Made for a great, cheap lunch.

Definitely more of a soup than a sandwich place. Ordered delivery, which was very prompt and nothing was spilled or squished. The mozz, tomato and avocado sandwich was mediocre at best — kind of soggy and flavorless but soup(kale & sweet potato) was very good. Good bang for your buck.

I tried the shrimp creole soup. AMAZING! I wish I knew how to make it myself. $ 15 for a soup is a little pricey for me but I guess it’s ok being that we are in Manhattan. This location is very clean. The staff are ready to take your order immediately. I didnt have to wait at all. They offered me bread. I tried it, not that great. A little hard but the soup was fantastic!!!

New favorite place to get lunch around here Pros: — Amazing soups! So far the Japanese Pumpkin soup is my favorite — Sandwiches are also very tasty — Great deal for the area, $ 10 for half a sandwich and a small soup(it is tiny but remember the area)! — Get samples — they let you try the soups before you commit — Lines get crazy during lunch time but the staff is quick and efficient! Cons: — Wouldn’t recommend delivery

I ordered on seamless. I usually receive a text when my food is ready. One hour after ordering I called and asked if my order was ready. The guy who answered sounded like he didn’t really know what he was doing. After I got off the phone, the text to pick up mysteriously appeared on my phone. This was so inconsistent. I went to pick up my soup and sandwich. Of course, the food was cold. I had a raging cold and was expecting some nice hot soup to soothe my struggle. It was so disappointing. I ordered at 1:42pm and received my food at 2:50pm.

Today I checked out this place Hale & Hearty on my lunch break. They are known for their variety of soups and sandwiches. The nice server, Jessica suggested I try the Tomato, Basil and Rice soup. I paired it with the Fresh Mozzarella, Basil and Tomato sandwich. I must say it was a very delicious meal. One thing to add is that it is very hearty!(As the name implies) I was completely full and satisfied after this meal. I will be definitely going back to try the rest of their soup menu. If you’re ever in the city and are a soup lover, check them out! You won’t be disappointed!

If you are thinking of ordering from this place using Seemless, THINKAGAIN! I would AVOID ordering delivery from this place at all cost. Unless you are fine with — waiting for 2+ hours for food(mine has NOT yet arrived after 2 hours and 15 minutes) — not being able to talk to a human being over the phone after dialing 30+ times.(Voice mail or busy line or simply being rudely put on hold directly) — being promised to be informed of where my food was only to be put on hold AGAIN for additional 10 minutes — getting hung-up with no reason after that. Honestly I don’t care how decent the food is any more. Well, if you don’t know how to run a delivery business, do not run it and stop pretending you can. The management is apparently disorganized and incapable of coordinating logistics with operations.

First of all, if you are looking for some fancy places for lunch, skip it — hale and hearty is nowhere even close to that word. However, this down-to-earth soup place indeed brought me the most number of soup selections to go with my sandwich. I’m not a big lunch eater and nor am I a cheese lover either; thus the turkey/avocado half sandwich just served me perfectly. Everything can be customized into different sizes and it was so convenient. Given it is so closely located to my company, I will come back often!

My favorite place to go for lunch. Depending on the time of day there might be a crowd but the soup is definitely worth the wait. The staff are overall pleasant. My favorite is Portuguese Kale.

I have ordered from this location before with no problems. Suddenly, today, it’s raining and they can’t get their act together with my order? It’s been over 90 minutes and I still have not received my order because they’re supposedly«backed up». If this place can’t handle orders while being«backed up» then they need to rehire their staff, because this is ridiculous. I’ve been put on hold 5 times already not received an answer from a single person. I am NEVER ordering from this location ever again.

Way better than the location on 3rd Ave. It’s bigger so it’s not as cramped and they have more people on staff so the line moves quickly during the lunchtime rush. Same menu at both locations but this one is my go-to. Vegetable soup and roasted tomato with mushroom FTW!

Fine chain, but nothing to write home about. Love the service — was offered samples and recommendations, but the Tuscan White Bean soup itself wasn’t really anything special. I just don’t see any reason to go out of your way for this chain. The Bread Factory, Europa — they all do soups just as well.

Just returned to the Double H after a three year Hiatus. Back in the day(2010&2011) I would come here frequently for soup, especially in the Fall & Winter. This location is across the street from my job and when I walked by it was empty, so I decided to go back. I would love to come here daily, but as you can see from many reviews below mine, the lines here are outrageous during lunch hour. They have a large variety of soup, you can also view their selection of your local store online. Anyhow, I typically stick with the same choices(Beef Stew, Potato Leek, Macaroni Beef,) They do not disappoint, but other than the long lines, I have two other complaints. 1) $ 9 buks for a large soup, that really is not that large is a bit expensive, but I guess THATS ny for ya! 2) The bread they give you is often rather hard A few positives are: 1) The staff is very courteous 2) They have a reward program where after your 10th purchase, your next soup, salad, or sandwhich is FREE!

Their tomato and rice soup was so sweet that after I ate it I went to get tested for diabetes.(Do they even taste the soups before they sell them??) I might come back to try other soups, but there seems to be plenty of other options in the area to get my comfort food fix.

The management of this place has absolutely no idea what they are doing. For the love of god, can you please hire more people! I have spoken to the manager twice about why it makes sense to have more than one person making salads during the lunch rush, but he doesn’t seem to understand it or just refuses to hire more people. To be clear, the salads and soups are very good. The problem is getting to the front of the line to actually order one. I have been to this location at least 20 times for lunch and here is how it works. At the salad bar, they have 2 people working. 1 person is making salads for deliveries and 1 is making salads for the customers in line. As the line grows to almost 10 people, they still have only 1 person making salads for customers in line. If you aren’t one of the first people in line, it isn’t worth waiting, because it will take forever for the 1 person to make salads for the entire line. As far as the soup line goes, it is the same thing. It looks like they have a lot of people running around, but half those people are actually working on deliveries. I really think they prioritize their delivery orders over the people in the actual store. All of the people who work there are very nice and trying to make your food as quickly as possible. The blame lies entirely on the management of this location who refuses to have enough people assisting the actual customers in the store.
