I’m new to eating at halal carts, but from the two carts I’ve been to in NYC so far this one could easily be nominated for the Unilocal two star«meh; I’ve experienced better.» Since I’m fairly ignorant when it comes to halal cart food, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. As other reviewers have mentioned, this cart stands out due to the fact that your meat is thrown on the grill when you order(…and hasn’t been sitting there for who-knows-how-long). However, I felt like their lamb gyro was pretty bland when compared to my first halal cart experience several blocks over — at York and 68th — where they add veggies to the mix. At E. 62nd St. and 3rd Ave. it was a doughy pita, a load of iceberg lettuce, a few tomato slices, some salty(but tasty) lamb, and the white and red sauces. Not bad, but nothing worth returning for.

Starting to enter the UES, this is the best cart you will find for many blocks. They offer all of your standard«halal cart» options. Chicken and lamb in pitas or over rice, sausage heros, the list goes on and all at competitive prices(I believe I paid $ 5 for my last lamb over rice). They do also offer onions with the meat over rice platters which is a nice option, but that is really the only difference that stands out with me at this place. After eating enough street food it can be amazing how much variation can go into the same platter, but the platters/gyros I buy from here don’t really seem to have that little twist to make it a 4 star cart. The owner is very nice and they have long hours for the area. If you are around here looking for some food, I definitely recommend stopping by and trying it out, but I wouldn’t take a 6 train up here just to try the food.

Very very nice owner. Always friendly. Super clean and you will be able to tell. Fresh stuff and he always keeps cooking… not stuff that hangs out in open air cold for few hours. His hot sauce is different from others. It’s flavorful and mild(can’t stand ridiculously hot sauces). Best halal around this area.

Just like your every other halal cart guy, but quiet friendly, and the first one to offer me chick peas and corn with my meal, and also chutney.
