My girlfriends and I found a groupon deal for four– an amazing deal for 6 sushi rolls and a bottle of premium sake. I think the groupon cost us $ 50… And to top it off, they gave us another coupon for the same exact deal, for our next visit. The groupon deal pops up quite often, so I recommend sifting through groupon before visiting! The restaurant location is a bit off, since it’s far away from the restaurants in the lower east side, but it’s in the mecca of night life. I think the restaurant ambiance is very different from the area of the lower east side it is in, but I do not want to deduct Unilocal points for that alone, hence the 4 stars. Hachi is more of a restaurant than a lounge but it is open very late to cater to those who happen to wander into the restaurant, hoping to enjoy a bottle of sake or sake bombs. Hachi is a spacious restaurant with high 15 – 20 feet ceilings, with a second level for a more intimate gathering for perhaps, a birthday party. The entire space gives off a very trendy and chic feel without being intimidating. The waiters are actually Japanese, which adds a touch of authenticity to the dining experience.

The restaurant looks great and has lots of seating. It’s great for a date or a group dinner. I came here many times and enjoyed all the rolls. I liked the spider roll and bonsai roll best. Most contain deep fried seafood to satify the fattie in me. Sadly it seems this place is closed.

We went to Hachi Restaurant & Lounge in the Lower East Side on a Groupon costing $ 50 for a bottle of sake or wine and four special sushi rolls(Up to $ 120 Value). Hachi is a very fancy restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Sushi was good not great. We drank about 1⁄3 the bottle of sake & took the rest back to the hotel where I had to finish it before bed… not a good idea. See my pictures.

Very sleek n sexy, 2 floors, loungy music, cool ambiance, cordial service. I had the white fish carpaccio(good but not amazing), the duck breast salad(tasty yet dry, on a bed of even drier uninspiring lettuce), and the pork belly entrée(unimpressive, chewy, with plain noodles n broth). Overrated food. And it came soon after ordering… bad sign.

Big success here last Thursday night(minus the hit-and-run taxi cab incident afterwards; check my tip on the 9th precinct, haha). Décor is trendy but lighting is faint so it’s not too in-your-face. It wasn’t very crowded and so we took advantage of the big couch seating in the center of the downstairs dining floor. We started with a complimentary sake tasting — I think it was a cosmopolitan or pomegranate sake mix(or both). Didn’t realize you’re supposed to sip it but whatever I tasted during the shot was good. Everything was presented very professionally and service was by far the best I’ve experienced in a long time in NYC — they were very on top of refilling our water and hot tea and took time to explain every part of every dish as it came to the table. We had $ 34 in credit from an expired Groupon(some kind of prix fixe deal) and so we ordered a variety of dishes: *Fried Calamari Salad — although fried, it didn’t have the usual greasy texture or aftertaste and the sauce was well-flavored *Wagyu Beef Tataki — so tender and delicious; almost too tender in that it falls apart if you handle it too many times with the chopsticks *Sashimi Platter — my favorite part of this was the king crab and light tuna; white ginger and wasabi were nice and strong. *Banana Foster — never ever heard of this kind of dessert but so glad I chose it over the other options(crème brûlée, tiramisu, others). It’s part ice cream and part caramelized banana slices. Definitely tracking this down next time. *$ 1 oysters — tried one, seemed fine, but not my thing, so my friend ate the other 3 and said they were good considering they were a dollar each. Shrug. Overall, definitely a repeat spot some time in the future.

If you didn’t know this place existed, you would walk right by it and not even think twice about it; I’m totally serious. There’s nothing to really distinct that this is even a sushi restaurant without that eraser board placed strategically right outside the glass doors. Thank you online deal site for letting me know where this was! With the deal, my love and I were able to get $ 65 worth of sushi and drinks, which was a pretty sweet deal! The Kani salad was the BEST kani salad I’ve EVER had anywhere… EVER! Do NOT pass this up! This was the highlight of the night, and we were really surprised about it. We then opted to try some of their special rolls, that we’re too special as we thought. The price was a bit steep, and the taste was just underwhelming. Very fresh fish, but not too memorable; that bothered me. Presentation was beautiful and the service was great; they couldn’t do more for us. I guess we couldn’t think of any other reason to come back here unless we REALLY wanted that Kani Salad, or, we’re in the area. Amazing space that has wonderful placement of feng shui items, like the waterfall in the back of the place. Really great date place! I’m willing to reconsider the experience with a follow-up…

GREAT happy hour here! Sit at the bar, chat with the friendly bartenders, and order a sake cocktail for $ 5, or a beer for $ 3, or a big flask of sake for $ 7, and order some snacks(about 15 options??) which are happy hour prices too! Bliss… I needed to charge my iphone and the server didn’t hesitate to lend me hers. She asked if I wanted water when I said no to my 2nd drink because I was still waiting for my friend to arrive. We then moved to the restaurant section for dinner, and we got seated at this table with a huge white lounge sofa in the middle of the room. The guys(and gals too) who work here are just happy to be there. They go around to chat with the customers, making friends with everyone. I will be back for more! Tip: Seems like Scoutmob has 50% off for this place and Foursquare has free drinks for check-in.

We ended up at Hachi due to a groupon which was soon expiring. Definitely glad we did, as I doubt we’d have ever chosen to come here due to its location(little out of the way) but now will certainly return. The groupon included four small plates and two drinks. We were also able to score an additional free drink by checking in on foursquare ;) We went with the Sashimi Three Ways, the Honey Glazed Miso Cod, the Lamb Chops and the roll trio(California, yellowtail and tuna). The highlight was the Sashimi by far. The cod was ok, nothing special. The lamb was good but should have come with some sort of jelly or sauce perhaps, and the rolls did the trick in filling us up. The sake cocktails weren’t anything amazing, and more refreshing than anything else. Very friendly waitstaff(we were practically the only patrons there at 5pm on a Sunday, but still) and I enjoyed the décor, even if it does have a bit of a 70’s feel to it. Wavered between a three or a four star rating, but for the price we paid(groupon) it was definitely a four star experience. I think I might feel a bit cheated were I to have paid full price for some of the dishes we received.

Fusion restaurant, very trendy interior design. Cocktails were quite good, especially the Saketini(sake based, with pineapple and lime juice), VERY much too my liking. I also tried the Bonsai Cocktail(plum wine based, with cranberry, OJ etc): more ingredients but it was just OK. I guess I’m the type of girl who prefers sourness with a hint of sweetness to an essential blend of sweetness. Foodwise, black miso cod was great; the other specialty rolls were fine too; the softshell crab fell short. Overall, it’s more like a place where people come for drinks and vibe, w/the added bonus of decent food.

$ 1 yummy oysters during happy hour(which is ALLNIGHTLONG)! The oysters here are SO truly madly deeply delicious here. Their sushi is also really amazing. My favorite is the Orchard Roll which is rice-less and instead uses a rice rapper instead of seaweed with yummy raw fish and veggies inside. Absolutely YUM. I’ve seen on several occasions on Groupon or Scout Mob where they have 50% off sushi. I’ve also recently bought their Groupon deal which was $ 25 for 4 dishes and 2 drinks — what a deal! Their Rack of Lamb is also really scrumptious. I would also recommend their Hamachi Kama if you like yellowtail. Hachi is normally empty after work too. The only thing that I could say would be a downer is the atmosphere is a bit to meat packing for me. It’s a nice lounge type of place. the music isn’t that great, I’d appreciate a new playlist. Also the staff seem to always change, I like seeing the same staff because the new staff never know what’s going on and always need to double check on everything.

Thanks to Groupon, we discovered Hachi. I guess it is the problem of being on Orchard Street, which is so far east on the LES even though I live in East Village. It was a cold night and we got here and were greeted immediately and seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant is definitely trendy and loungy. We got seated in our own half-open booth section with comfy couch and dim light. The restaurant is very busy with a lot of customers and the manager is really friendly to all the customers. However, since we had the Groupon, we got a different menu and it is sort of limited. We got to try the Three Way sashimi so it comes with 3 different types of sashimi and each has two pieces. They are very fresh and tender and has a little twist to it. Then, we also had the jumbo shrimp and it is actually a giant shrimp with great sauce. Besides, we got a special Tiger roll to share and it is very very delicious. Finally, we ended our dinner with their Miso Cod and it is tiny but the cod is so tasty and tender. I think we were satisfied but definitely not full. To be honest, I wish there were more food because the portion is not very good. We can easily spend $ 50 a person here to get enough food without a coupon. Would like to come back and try other dishes and cocktails.

4 stars for décor, 3 stars for food… I’m somewhere in between but I’m leaning more towards 4-stars just because the overall experience was in the positive light. I did use the Scoutmob deal so it make it easier to enjoy myself and not feel constrained by the prices of items. No joke it’s on the $$$ side. If you’re looking for a casual no fuss restaurant, this place is NOTIT. It’s on the fancy side with a huge hint of club flavors, it’s gorgeous, it’s the place you go with the start of a night out. I wouldn’t doubt if it really does convert into a lounge/club at night on the main floor? Anyways, I posted a bunch of photos and as you can see, everything is so photogenic, right? Well, the food is definitely GOOD but not the best I’ve ever had. It’s got beautiful presentation and good fusion flavors. I think my favorite dish of the evening was the hamachi kama. An old friend told me that you can always judge a Japanese restaurant by the quality of their hamachi kama and they did a terrific job. DISCLAIMER: It does take 15+ minutes to make after being received in the kitchen and the waitress did let us know so this was the last item to arrive at our table. Overall a good experience!

Love this hidden Gem, stumbled upon this spot while looking for a nice place to have some quick cocktail drinks and kill time while waited for our table reservation at the«Meatball Shop» restaurant located around the corner, this place was exactly what we were looking for, very inviting from the outside and very attractive from the inside. We immediately sat at the bar and ordered their specialty sake cocktails drinks. Delicious drinks I must say, I personally have never had anything like it, very well prepared, very well priced and I couldn’t get enough! We spent about an hour at Hachi having their yummy drinks and our experience was excellent from the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was hip, the staff was very attentive and the drinks were yummy, what more can you ask for… Win Win Win! We did not get a chance to try their food but I will definitely b back for their sushi… which looked yummy by the way. Their Sake Cocktails is a must try. I will make sure to come back again

Nice lounge for happy hour, but I’m not sure I would come and pay full price. Happy hour is good since the drinks are cheap and the food is cheap(ish) but not awesome. I had the ramen as a snack; it was about $ 6 for a small bowl and was just okay. My friend had the pork belly bossam and she liked it. The lounge itself is pretty spacious and I liked the trendy ambiance. There’s some seating on the small second level and then the bottom is roomy enough to accommodate large groups. Recommendation: come during happy hour to drink, mix, mingle, and snack.

At first, I chose this restaurant for a GNO in celebration of my birthday. I looked on to purchase a $ 20 for $ 50 gift certificate, but there were restrictions to use the coupon… we had to purchase $ 75 worth of food in order for the discount to be applied. That was no problem because we all love sushi. For appetizers, we ordered the grilled clams. I was disappointed because envisioned for this to be a dish with more than just four clams. This dish was basically four grilled-STUFFED clams. Nothing special. I don’t really know what the Unilocalers were talking about… I’ve had way better stuffed clams than this dish. For drinks, they don’t make any mixed drinks. Limited to two beer selections. It is either wine, sake, moscato, etc. So we ordered our own sake drinks. We ordered the sashimi platter. This was fresh, nicely presented. I love salmon the most because I am a salmon lover. The rolls that we ordered were: –Rush Hour Roll(a combo of my favs: eel and spicy tuna) –Deep Water Roll(love the new twist of using rice paper & no rice without seaweed) –Rainbow Roll(variety of fish used) –Fireworks Roll(as per recommended by Unilocalers) One disappointment I had was that since I am allergic to sesame seeds, I specifically asked the waiter NOSEASAMESEEDS and he even repeated after me. When the rolls came, there were sesame seeds. NOBUENO. The green tea tiramisu cake was good… Service could have been better, but I would just recommend the rolls only.

I really enjoyed Hachi, like almost five stars enjoyed. First off the space is huge, like 2 floors huge, and they let you enjoy the space. My brother and I sat at this lounge like table enjoying their big comfy white couches and a small table. The music was definitely some thumping house beats but totally added to this lounge like vibe. We were lured in with the $ 1 oysters. They were decent. Small. But, they were $ 1. Enjoying some sake(this place is sake, wine and beer only), we ordered the sashimi plate, this custard thing, the cod and a roll. First, the sashimi plate was amazing. 18 Large, fresh pieces of fish. Definitely the show stealer. I’d come back for that. The custard thing, and I apologize for thing I forget the correct name was an egg custard filled with scallops and sea urchins. It was more soup like in consistency and wasn’t my forte. The cod was rich and oily and a fair portion for the price and the Rush Hour roll, though looked amazing and was good, wasn’t the best roll ever — filled with spicy tuna but, lacked that eel which drew me to the roll in the first place. The service was impecable but, also, the place was not busy at all. Regardless, this spot is a gem in this area and definitely recommend for parties/events. Great space, food and service for a good price. Well done Hachi. Well done.

Very cute and romantic japanese restaurant. I love the little decors that they paid attention to such as the cherry blossom wall tree décor at the front entrance and the lighting at the bar décor. Very modern and clean. I felt like I was more at a lounge than a restaurant with the dim lighting but I loved it. Ordered: 1. Seared White Tuna– Cinnamon coated seared White Tuna w/Wasabi Aioli. This was tender and the wasabi aioli was not overpowering with the wasabi taste, which I enjoyed eating with. 2. Orchard Roll– Rice Paper w/Lettuce and Spicy Tuna, Eel And Shrimp(No Rice). We ordered this roll by accident since our waiter misheard us saying oysters for some reason… We originally ordered 2 oysters but instead he thought 2 orchard rolls. He was nice enough to take one back since we were willing to try this roll out. Thank goodness it was delicious. It was not your typical roll with rice. Instead it looked like a spring roll. I mean how can you not like anything with eel in it? :) 3. Sashimi/Sushi Platter– which comes with 10 pieces of sashimi and 1 roll of spicy tuna. It was a great variety from tuna, salmon, shrimp, and oyster, which was fresh and satisfying. Total came out to around $ 50 including 2 sprites. Definitely not bad for a japanese restaurant find compared to the other places that I have been to in the upper east side. This is probably the best that I have had so far during my 1 month move to NYC!(Yes, I know there are more or even better japanese places out there. give me some time to explore! haha)

I heard about and visited Hachi because of a Groupon. The service was impeccable, and the food was delicious and super fresh(you could tell it was all sushi-grade fish). The décor, music, and atmosphere were cool too. I had: + Three Way Sashmimi Firm meat, interesting flavors. All different. Looks like one big piece, but artfully cut so that there are 3 bites from each of the 3 pieces. + Seafood Risotto It was good at the time, but now a few days later it’s not in my mind as the best risotto I’ve ever had. + Bonsai and Deep Water rolls The Bonsai was solid, but the Deep Water was amazing. But I pretty much love anything with mango in it. Hehehe. + Fried Fruits Harumaki Banana and strawberries wrapped in rice paper and lightly fried, with ice cream on top. Very nice end to the meal — substantial but not too heavy. + and 3 of the 6 or so sake cocktail drinks. I must reiterate that the service was spectacular. We had two people serving us, and they were so polite, friendly, and gracious it was unbelievable. I probably can’t afford Hachi without a Groupon, but I’d love to go back soon!

I am surprised. The food was really delicious and good. I bought a groupon here with a deal of 4 dishes &2 drinks. for 4 dishes, we ordered: — three way sashimi — filet mignon — black miso cod — rainbow roll First, three way sashimi. The portion is extremely small but it was a good twist. Pretty huge piece of sashimi with some spicy flavoring. Something like sweet chili. I love the salmon the most. Next, came the medium well filet mignon and the cod. To be honest, the filet mignon was compatible with some of the stick house. except they have a little«asian taste» instead of the steak you will have at a steakhouse. but is good and you only have to pay 15 dollars for it. It’s a lady’s portion. The cod was cooked to the perfect texture, just that the sauce did not go well with it. the skin of the fish was really crispy to enjoy. Finally, the sushi came. Rainbow roll has snow crab meat, salmon, tuna, and avocado. The sushi was THEBEST sushi I have ever had. I am being honest. Unlike lots of restaurant. they gave you lots of rice in a sushi and with a tiny little piece of salmon or any fish in your sushi. and a huge piece of avocado to make it look bigger. And they wrap it so well. You will actually feel«safe» eating it without worrying that the fish you just fall or you will make a mess if you took a bite… and the price is reasonable. Check in with your 4 square. and you will get a complimentary dessert. We got the green tea tiramisu. it wasn’t that great. but it’s good to enjoy. flavor sake is only 7 dollars. and they do happy hour. I AMDEFINITELYGOINBACKAGAIN. SERVICEWASREALLYGOOD!!! I am glad I discovered another restaurant that I like.
