Great food for two got a skirt steak order, wings and nachos, upbeat atmosphere, good margarita(I ordered mango flavor) the food we got was two much for two portions were pretty big. Prob should have sub the nachos with a salad. Did not see the club and dance part because we left before it started at 930 pm but I would have loved to have stayed and would def go back!

Came here for happy hour on a Friday and it was easy to get a table which was surprising. I got the regular margarita first and then a coconut margarita for my second drink. Both were excellent and they’re fairly strong despite the low happy hour price. The servers are very attentive and quick. We also got the chips and guac and the jalapeño kisses — highly recommend that last one! Super flavorful and spicy. Really nice atmosphere and not so loud that you can’t hear the people you’re with. It’s a great option for happy hour, especially since it lasts til 8pm!

This place is SOOGOOD! It exceeded my expectations, the band and the music were on point all night. The music ranged from all over Latin Anerica, and the vibe was cool too. I definately recommend, and I will come again!

If you want to come to a laid back environment but have some fun at the same time! COMEHERE!!! I came here due to my bestie birthday. Another friend and I arrived 10 minutes before the 9pm reservation. The hostess was kind enough to let us sit before the rest of the party arrived. I order a beer and it was hot. No bueno! Luckily we order a Frozen Mango Margarita Pitcher. That was really good! The menu had a lot of vegetarian plates but no vegan options. Usually what I do is order a Vegetarian plate and tell them to minus the dairy products. But I wasn’t very hungry so I order fried green plantains and sauteed vegetables. It was good and properly seasoned. Around 11pm, they clear the tables and it was time to dance!!! The crowd is over 30 and I love that. No one trying to harass you to dance. They had a live salsa band and great music between the band breaks. They played bachata, reggaeton, old school reggae, dembow and more. I would def come back for the dancing and the drinks! I had a great time!

Place seemed to have a decent deal — $ 10 cover or $ 20 for cover with two drinks. However, on a 60 degree night with the door wide open, they forced everyone to check their coats. Meanwhile I was allowed to keep a bag of dinner leftovers with me. Margarita was okay I guess.

Came here on a Friday night with friends for the first time and automatically feel in love with the place. The bartender John is the man. Saw it was my first time and went through everything on the menu and suggested I try the blue Louie. Let’s just say I’m hooked! Music was pumping but for a Spanish spot they played alot of rap music but I was cool with that. At 7 they move the tables and turn the place into the ultimate salsa dance floor. I ordered wings and fries but looking at other people’s ppl plates I wanted to eat their food as well. I can’t wait to hit this spot with my crew.

One of my favorite restaurant and bar venues in the city! I have been to Gonzales on different weekdays and different hours. The service has always been great. The music is also great(Thursday is Salsa night, so if you don’t enjoy salsa you most likely won’t enjoy Gonzales at that time). On Friday nights, the genre of music varies– from pop to edm to spanish music etc. At around 9−10pm, the tables disappear and it transforms into a dance floor. In terms of food, I have always had the chips and salsa to begin, and I tried the quesedillas and chimichanga. They were both delicious and satisfying. The margaritas are my favorite as well, as the drinks are always made perfectly– not too strong not too weak. I suggest the coconut margaritas for sure. I would definitely recommend Gonzales!

Never going back. At 5pm on a Friday they had a bouncer checking IDs, strange but ok. We walk in and all of the tables are empty and no hostess. The décor is cute for a Mexican place, nothing special. We sit down and settle in and 5 minutes later the waiter comes up and asks if we had a reservation. No. he asked if the hostess sat us. No, but there is no hostess. He asks if we can get up and wait by the hostess desk until her finds her. Again, all 30 or so tables around us are EMPTY. We get up and wait for the hostess. She comes from the back and this is how the conversation went: –Table for 6 please — are you having dinner? –yes –ok, because you need to be having dinner to sit, not just drinks. –that’s fine, we’re here for dinner –ok, how many? — 6 — are all 6 people going to eat? Because like I said, you can’t be sitting down and not order dinner Talk about a welcoming host. Finally we sit, order drinks and food. Music was very loud, waiter was mumbling under his nose and we couldn’t hear anything he said. As I’m stuffing the first nacho down my face, the table starts moving. The waiter decides to pull our table to the side, without even telling us and all the plates start moving. He starts moving our tables around, ASWE’REHAVINGDINNER! Margaritas were melted sugar and ice. Zero alcohol. We had 8 total, got charged for 13. At that point it was 9 pm, place got busy and even more loud. The waiter dropped off the check and ran away. We waited another 20mins to tell him about the extra margaritas and after that I decided to walk around and look for him. When I found him, he mumbled something under his nose and ran away again. I literally chased him around the restaurant. There were two girls standing near the bar and one of them put her jacket on a chair next to our table and he decided to add whatever those girls had to our check. We never even met those women, they just happened to be standing next to us. Then he refused to take it off our check and kept running away to the kitchen. Horrible, horrible customer service. I just wanted to leave and never look back. It might be a good place to go dancing after 1am, but DONOTORDERFOOD and pay for one drink at a time. Actually, drinks are so are so bad that you’re better off pregaming and then going to dance.

G&G has become a favorite place to grab some margaritas after work. Their drinks specials are great during happy hour and the empanadas are deelish! On Friday evenings they have a live salsa band – so if you love dancing salsa this is a great place to go to!

In my quest for good mexican in the village I decided to check out Gonzalez Y Gonzalez on a Wednesday night. The place is pretty large and has a fairly long bar, and tables spread out as well as a stage where performances take place on weekends. Pros: 1)$ 6 margaritas– Happy hour til 8 pm and that’s a good price, the mango margarita was a touch sweet but worth it for six dollars. 2)Ambiance– I liked the dark lit vibe inside and spanish music, I felt like I was in south beach or somewhere in Miami. 3)Service– I thought it was pretty efficient for the most part, all though they forgot my brother’s Ginger Ale(which he didnt want after anyway). 4) Chicken Enchiladas– My brother ordered this, they really nailed it with the cheese and the crust on the flatbread they were in was really nice. Cons: 1) Chips not included– I think any good mexican restaurant should at least include chips and sauce for any entrée, guacamole fine; charge extra for that. Anyway even after paying $ 7 for chips and guacamole I thought it was only OK, the chips were salty and the guacamole was not memorable. 2) Fajitas– Perhaps not a full«Con» but the chicken was only all right, after it arrived pretty well seasoned. The rice and beans and guacamole that came were nice to mix it with. To add a small pro it was so much food I took some home for the next day :). Overall, I may come back if i wanted a happy hour margarita but probably not for the food.

Came here for an impromptu dinner with my coworkers for my bosses’ birthday. Upon arrival, there was a security checking IDs(7pm) which was a bit of a surprise because this is a restaurant and I think people should only get ID’d if they are ordering drinks. Besides, the hostess later came to our table to give us 21 and over wristbands. The initial wait was said to take an hour, but it was minimized to about 20 minutes when a large party was leaving the place. The drinks here are DELICIOUSSSSS. I ordered the Blue Lui and I still dream of it to this day. The margaritas are great as well. If you come here during happy hour you can get these drinks for $ 5-$ 6 each! I ordered the nachos(priced around $ 14) which were great. But then something happened. I got super full so I didn’t finish my nachos so I asked the waiter if he could package it for me… so he does so, and then I begin to notice he’s taking super long. When he finally comes back after 15 minutes, he tells me that the kitchen staff threw away my nachos by mistake. I wasn’t surprised because he was taking way too long. He then offered me a free drink or a free appetizer. I ordered the appetizer which was 3 empanadas. Shout out to him for offering me something for free, but I was so annoyed that the nachos I was saving for my mom got thrown away. I will definitely come to this place again for their amazing drinks and food. I’ll just make sure to come here earlier on a weekday to catch the happy hour.

I’ve been there to dance last night and i had great time. The atmosphere is funny and relaxed, a lot of good dancer. I have to say that is pure Salsa place, with a short exibition of a live band too. So DON’T GOIFYOUARENOTABLETODANCESALSA. Or go if you like to lean watching other people dancing. But if you dance salsa is definitely OK! There was a cover of 10 dollar but you can choose between 2 formulas: 10 $ only entrance /20 $ entrance +2 drinks(which only one is around 9 $)…who is gonna choose the fisrt one!!! Many kind of cocktails and different Margarita flavours… definetly a nice spot!

Salsa, Salsa, Salsa coño. This should be the name of this place. Great place in the city to come for happy hour. Best days are Thursday, as there is a salsa band which plays here after 10pm. The entire restaurant becomes a huge dance floor where is just pure fun to spin and shine some salsa moves. There is no judgement here as for dancing skill level. Come, stay pass 10pm and you will have FUN. Only downsides is that the bathroom is a the lower level and it almost feels as if you have to walk a mile to get there. Lets get the party started.

Was there with co-workers this past Friday night. Very loud to where I couldn’t hear the person sitting right across from me. Food was OK, nothing special. Drinks were actually quite good — I had the peach frozen margarita. It was perfection itself. Not overly sweet, perfect amount of alcohol. Waiter was nice but a bit absent and I had to look for him to order more drinks and when the time came to pay the bill. But it was a Friday night and they were packed to the gills. Would go again but skip the food and just have drinks.

First time coming to this spot and it has a great atmosphere and I ordered the jalapeño kisses and OMG by far the best appetizer EVER !! However I can’t say the same for my main course meal I ordered the chicken tacos and the chicken was dry and had no flavor I had to send it back my boyfriend did order the salmon and he said it was good so I was not impressed by the over priced food also I went on Saturday which I guess it turns into a kinda lounge club and it just seemed they was rushing ppl to eat to put the table away in the back not cool…

Ahhhh… the legend. The latin staple of Soho area. When it closed, they most have made a killing on those end parties. Wait. It’s reopening? No way! Mo’ money, mo’ money, mo’ money! I finally went to the new, back entrance place. Really cute. Love the giant sombrero hat. Love the(insert: young, old, tall, shot, fat, skinny, white, black, asian, latin, etc) dancers who make me feel so lame on the dance floor. It’s really inspiring! Count me back again!

I give it 5 stars because it’s a great dancing space. Ive been learning to dance salsa here and it’s a super learner friendly environment. I come here Thursday’s for the live salsa band and Fridays/Saturdays for the diversity the DJ has to offer he plays anything and everything that will have you dancing the whole night. Bartenders are friendly and so are the bouncers. Definitely one of my favorite go to spots

Came here for my bday party in October and had a great time. They had a live band which was really good and they mixed it with a dj so the band wasn’t playing all night straight, I actually liked that a lot cause the combination was great. Crowd is ok and for a Latin place is not bad at all, maybe one of my favorites for the ones I know. The music is not the best Latin ever but it’s ok, just what you need if you wanna go our dancing with some friends. Definitive looking for the next time I’ll be going.

Ok, I went to Gonzalez y Gonzalez about 6 months ago for a work event(I didn’t eat anything). I went back last night for dinner and was EXTREMELY disappointed. My thoughts had to been altered by the great happy hour… Needless to say, I was not so easily swayed this time around. The sangria was HORRIBLE. It was super pulpy and tasted that they blended apples into the wine. I ordered the Jalapeño Kisses(which were pretty good, but really really spicy). I could only eat 1, the best part was that it was wrapped in bacon. The ceviche wasn’t very good, all I could taste were oranges(I’m guessing that’s what they used to pickle the seafood) and nothing else. My steak quesadillas were pretty good, but you can’t really mess up melted cheese and steak in a tortilla. Honestly, after eating here I will not be coming back. There so many better Mexican restaurants in the area, where food actually tastes good, and the prices are cheaper!

Cute little spot that’s great for drinks! The drinks were strong and worth it! I went for my friends birthday and we got two pitchers(one pitcher of sangria and one pitcher of their Blue Lui) and they were $ 35 each. I didn’t get to try any entrees; just did appetizers and drinks. The appetizers were tasty! We got the calamari, empanadas, and chips with guacamole and salsa. The guac and salsa was fresh and came with a good amount of chips. For the empanadas, you can choose which filling you’d like: beef, chicken, or shrimp. We did the combo which gives you one of each type of empanada! We went on a rainy Monday night so it wasn’t busy, but there is a stage so I’m sure they have events on the weekends! Music here was great too!

My sister had the chicken, my brother had the salmon and I had the pork chops… Let me tell you amazing. We also had a pitcher of blue Lai drink… It was very reasonable pricing and very delicious. The atmosphere was very fun and the live band was awesome. The band played old school salsa classics. I recommend this place to everyone.

I had a great time here. I had been here numerous times a few years ago when I used to work nearby. Their happy hour specials are great. The $ 6 frozen lui drinks are strong and taste so good! The happy hour is from 5 – 8 as well. The music is good, the atmosphere is really chill, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I had the Shrimp paella dish with scallops, sans calamari and it was really good. A little overpriced at $ 22, but the portion size was decent. My friend had the chicken, steak, and shrimp fajita which she said was okay, but definitely not worth the $ 24 she spent. Also, be aware they have a $ 20 minimum per person for those seated at tables. G&G is located in a nice area and is easily accessible via the B, D, F, M and 6 trains. The bathroom is located downstairs and you have to walk what seems like forever to get to there. The long creepy corridors are a bit strange but it is what it is. We left before there was any dancing, but I am sure I will be back here for some more fun and good drinks!

Unless you’re purposefully looking for sub-par food served in an awkwardly clubby setting, don’t come here. Sure, some of the best New York restaurants are known for their chatter and sometimes loud music, but Gonzalez y Gonzalez, wreaked of marijuana and had an ambiance more suited for a D-list club than a popular restaurant. The service was nothing to write home about; however, the food’s lack of quality is what merits this a one star for me. One of my friends and I checked out this place last weekend– she ordered a vegetarian dish while I got chicken enchiladas. There was dried sour cream flaked on her veggie burrito(ew) and my chicken was a light shade of gray(double ew). I love Mexican food but would never come back here again.

The place music is good. However starting from the entrance the service lacks of people skill. The host she was un attending(3 people receiving money in the entrance and a really rude doorman) going slow letting people in. Then you have the security. If you leave your things alone they will take and put them in the coat room. The issue is that they don’t tell you they will do that. So for a few minutes I thought I got robbed. It’s really sad since music and the live band are good. There is a lack of hospitality skills of the people there.

Craving un buen baile, a group of friends and I came to Gonzalez y Gonzalez Saturday night. Arriving just in time for live salsa, three hours passed as though they were one, and we later left sweaty and satisfied, in a salsa-induced state. The only downside was their low-shelf liquor, but these are easy enough to avoid. Order beer!

So let’s just say they clear of this place if you want to grab some food for pick up(especially the«loaded nachos»). So I work near by and on a whim I wanted nachos, so I gave this place a call. The women I spoke to over the phone should be trained to actually give accurate information about what they serve. During the whole interaction she made me very weary of completing my ordering because of how many times sh had to put me on hold. One question I asked her was how are the potions? She reposted by saying«it’s a lot of food for myself.» I should have though about that statement a little more, but I hate was starving. So I figured it’s going to be «loaded» but we’ll get back to that later. After finally placing the order I walked to the restaurant. Upon walking in there was no hostess and just figured I walk to the bar since there wasn’t anyone to help, not even a waiter/waitress. Once I walked to the bar the bartender was quick to help me out and went to get my order. Here’s where I fucked up. Once I back to where I work I opened the container it came in and to my surprise there was 14 chips. The cheese was barely melted and the garnish was non existent. Unless this girl is 3 feet tall, no one can get full on what they had given me. For 13 dollars ill spent it on something that will fill me up. That was pathetic.

OMG. GyG. A newcomer to the city this summer, a friend of mine brought a group of us here one Friday night. I can’t speak to the food since I only came for a night of dancing and drinking(hence the 4⁄5 stars) but I can certainly affirm that my experience here was zesty. This place gets bumpin’. Since I can’t claim much talent in the dancing arena, it took a few coronas for me to bust out my salsa dance moves. I won’t lie. At first I felt that I stuck out like a sore thumb. But after a few songs, I put away my awkward shopping cart dance moves and started to move it and groove it. Everyone is here to have a good time. There’s no judgement, no obnoxious, overly clubby EDM, and certainly no sparkler-champagne bottles coming out. Gonzalez y Gonzalez is good, old fashioned fun. The live salsa music adds to the genuine feel of this place. And I guarantee you’ll find yourself dancing into the wee hours of the morning. What’s more? You won’t even think about that stuffy night club you didn’t get in to. You’re a real dancer now. Just ask that giant sombrero on the wall.

Came here to have a quick bite with my friends around 6pm. The inside was empty but filled up close to 7pm. Unique inside, decorated with Mexican style wall art and a giant Sombrero hanging on a wall. The menu is pricey. The drinks are weak and the food is blah. They have a happy hour until 8 pm. I got blue breeze, which is just a blue Piña colada. The pork burrito was large but the rice was overcooked so it tasted like dry mash potatoes. My friends had quasadias which they said were paper dry. Overall the food was tasteless and the drinks were sugary. Will not be coming back to this overpriced Mexican joint.

Gonzalez y Gonzalez has been around seems like forever! I remember when they closed only to reopen… who does that? They do. Most spots that close, stay closed leaving you with memories of, ‘Remember when we used to go to abc and xyz back in the day?’ Well, there’ll be none of that here. I used to drag my unsuspecting co-workers and friends here often and force them out of their comfort zone and have them dancing towards the end of the night… good times, good times. Yeah, this spot is a college-type, afterwork-type, get your margarita on, less than semi-decent food spot, but it was a spot where they had awesome music and live band entertainment every week… I always had fun here. Live bands playing salsa or bachata or samba, with a DJ for breaks in between. One of my many memories includes the Samba bands with the Brazilian dancers on stage beautifully dancing to the bands rhythmic tunes, with weight shifting step-ball-change movements helping those hips sway… teach me how to Samba please!!! I always had fun here. Great drinks, semi-decent food, fun environment for dancing. It was the absolute best on a Friday night, lots of fun experiences. If you like hanging with friends and having a few drinks and dancing, this is a good spot for all of that, well it was when I used to go. I always had fun here. Gonzalez y Gonzalez is a legend to some. Many places have come and gone, but so happy to know they reopened so a whole new generation of peeps can create their own memories so they too can say, ‘I always had fun here.’

Happy hour EVERYDAY from 12−8p!!! I’ll be honest and say I haven’t tried the food here but the cheap drinks make it. For $ 5 I’m a happy camper. Your margarita comes with a free flavor if you want. The glasses are large and decently intoxicating. For a place in SoHo it is quite a gem. Decoration feels like I’m in Mexico party central. A cute mural of salsa dancing and a huge sombrero! Beware that you’ll be making a trek underground to get to the bathroom!

Four stars ONLY because of the drinks. Food is mediocre. Drinks are INCREDIBLE! I did not really like the quesadilla, too many fillings and extra ingredients. My friend got a burrito and did not really like it either. I wouldn’t come here for the food but it’s a GREAT spot for happy hour! $ 5 happy hour til 8PM can’t go wrong. Got a mango frozen margarita for the first round and I was already buzzed then got a peach and I was done for!
