I don’t know why anyone would order from this place when they are in immediate proximity of authentic Chinese food — it’s the equivalent of Taco Bell to Mexican cuisine. Go to Cheung Wong Kitchen on Allen & Hester or Lam Zhou Handmade Noodle on East Broadway, or for a nicer meal to Congee Village.

Anytime I’m craving Chinese food while I’m home I always order from here. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants on the lower east side for sure. One of the few that are rated an A as well. I order over three times a month the delivery guy comes to my door and always says ‘hello friend’. I’ve experienced some very rude delivery men and bad phone service from restaurants but the staff here is very nice all the time. The best things on the menu personally is the chicken wings, sautéed broccoli, and their fried tofu with broccoli. If you live in the LES order from them!

I have never been to a restaurant that picks and chooses if the want to deliver to someone based on how many orders. I was about to order 1 appetizer 1 main and a soda and it was going to total around $ 15 but before I could get out my entire order they asked me how many orders I said 1 and the lady taking to order told me I should pick it up instead because they had 10 people ahead of me and it was going to take an hour… And hung up me. I would never recommend Golden Forest to anyone. They have forgotten they it is the local community that has given them success.

Disclaimer: I have never physically visited this establishment, this review is just about the food and the delivery service. Which are AMAZING! Seriously get the General Tso’s platter(order the platter not the entrée because it comes with fried rice and an egg roll and it’s still only like $ 10). Here are my favorite things about this place, in order: 1. The speed. If you have ever gotten home from work at 10pm and are hungry and don’t want to wait an hour, this place is a god send. I have probably ordered 5 times and every time my order arrives in 20 minutes(but usually closer to 15!) 2. The food. I have never ordered anything else but the general Tso’s is tender flavorful and plentiful! The portions are quite large. I usually have it for dinner and then have the leftovers for lunch the next day. 3. The price. It’s so cheap! And delivery is free! I have officially found my go-to weeknight Chinese place.

I got food poisoning from the chicken tempura. This restaurant was the worst, most painful experience. Blah. Honestly I think this place has ruined Chinese for me possibly forever.

Oh, jesus. Sweet general tso-sauce covered jesus over rice, where to begin? As I type this, food seemingly eternally warm next to me, I cannot fathom why I didn’t find this place sooner. I kid you not, the food came 10 minutes after I ordered it, piping hot. And it’s delicious. I ordered General Tso’s tofu. I love the approach they take to herbivores here; the traditional flavors of classic NY Chinese dishes are made vegetarian in an entirely non-pretentious way(believe me, I’ve seen some sassy sesame tofus.) Hell, maybe I’m overthinking it… but at least I’ve got Chinese food! brb gonna finish this rice

Quick delivery, good prices and really delicious! If you’re looking for great, original New York Chinese food this is it! Ordered the general tsao’s and sesame noodles and loved both.

The delivery took a little longer than expected but they threw in a free Diet Coke and upgraded my one order of Lo Mein to a large instead of the small I had ordered as an apology — I thought that was sweet. The chicken with broccoli was great, the Lo Mein was just okay but I ordered it with out any vegetables — just wanted noodles. Overall though for a no-frills Chinese take-out place it was one of the best ones so far. Definitely ordering again.

One of the best Chinese spots ever — we have food regularly delivered. The fried dumplings are my highlight, my wife prefers the house fried rice. Their beef creations are also very delicious.

Ordered from here the other night and I was me disappointed! The food was nice and hot when I got it and it came within 15 minutes. Also, the establishment gave you your money’s worth in food. I got the baby bok choy withy brown rice and I loved it. The bok choy was extremely fresh and it was seasoned just the right amount. I definitely will be ordering from here more often! Great food, fast delivery, and prices that won’t completely break the budget.

I don’t know why everyone is raving about the chicken & broccoli. I just had it as a lunch special. Mediocre at best. Better than the ghetto spots but doesn’t rate compared to a decent restaurant. I think the hipsters writing these reviews are comparing it to the Panda Express they ate at in Wisconsin and Nebraska, where their well off mommies and daddies still live.

Quick delivery … Bad food. The egg drop soup was not edible and it was glowing yellow. The steamed dumplings were all dough and had no flavor.

Despite the cold service and insipid dining experience, I simply cannot bear to give this place any less than five stars. The best chicken and broccoli of your life is waiting for you.

While they serve the most tender General Tso’s I’ve ever had, it’s also bland. I uploaded a photo, it even looks bland. It doesn’t help that their sauce is watery and pools at the bottom of the container without really coating the chicken. Egg roll was similarly meh. The shrimp lo mein was downright gross.

I feel like I owe them a good review before I move seeing as I order from them multiple times a week. I love this place. I usually get chicken and garlic sauce which is actually spicy! They will even make it more spicy if you like. Delivery is never more than 45 min and the delivery guys are friendly. If you want delicious, cheap Chinese food – order from here.

Yes, I am reviewing this delicious MSG chinese place, as I like to call it. Nothing like a chicken and broccoli on a rainy day or just a lazy day. Always quick and always delicious, prices are right, even if you’re not ordering lunch special. Yes, I am that lazy girl who orders delivery form a place that is down the block from where I live and yes, i will order enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all at once. The food is good here and consistently so. It’s your typical chinese takeout that you can count on to always be good.

Been looking for a new Chinese restaurant for months now. Tried many in the neighborhood. The all had something wrong with them. Either they forgot items constantly. Dried up chicken, old greasy lo mein etc. my son found golden forest and because of all the positive reviews we decided to try them. This was the best decision we’ve made for a Chinese restaurant. The steamed dumplings were so fresh. The chicken skewers were juicy, not dry, the chicken wings were fresh, crispy and delicious, the shrimp lo mein was excellent with lots of shrimp. The order arrived promptly. We will definitely be ordering from here again. This is our new delivery-place UPDATE: Ordered from this restaurant about 5 – 6 times now and they never disappoint. The food is always fresh, hot and delicious

Great Americanized Chinese food. Grew up eating this place(since late 90s) and consistency is still there. Standards: Chicken/beef with broccoli. Beef lo-mein Essentials: Fried chicken wings. Best I’ve had from a Chinese take out spot never dissapoints since they make them fresh daily. Sesame chicken, not too salty more of a tang and the pieces are huge. Ask for less sauce for more crisp. Personal favorite: Chicken with eggplant in garlic sauce, you won’t go back.
