This place is phenomenal — made for a spring or fall day, where you’re warm but a decent breeze is coming out over the Hudson. Frying Pan is a boat docked on the west side of Manhattan with several bars to order from and seating throughout the various decks of the ship. The upstairs section seems better for large groups, whereas the smaller outlying tables on the lower levels are good for more intimate visits or smaller parties. If you’re okay with a little drifting and swaying, and don’t get seasick, this is definitely a unique dining and drinking experience. I’d recommend getting the blueberry beer — it was extremely drinkable(almost went down TOO easy, which adds up with a venue that’s already moving without the help of booze) and really flavorful.

Pros: Great vibe, cool location and really great Instagram opportunities. The food is decent, and you can get classic summertime drinks. I got a lobster roll on my last visit, and it was pretty good, if somewhat overpriced. Cons: Super hot, and somewhat claustrophobic when you’re moving about.

Great place to hang out with friends or coworkers. This place gets crowded pretty quickly after work. I’d recommend going in the summer when it’s warmer. You’ll be lucky to get seats on the upper deck. In terms of food and drink, you can try their old bay fries and white peach sangria, they’re good!

Pros: — the novelty of drinking on a ship — out of town guests fucking love this place — old bay garlic fries — nom — corn on the cob — always a winner for outdoor dining — white sangria pitchers — so refreshing for the summer Cons: — having to fight a crowd of bros and way too dressed up girls for a table — how hot and sweaty it gets on this damn stationary boat! just because you are on the water, does NOT mean you get a breeze. — we ordered a bucket of coronas, and it was room temperature(read: very warm) beers put in an bucket with some ice in it. is there anything more disgusting than room temperature beer on a hot summer day?

Frying Pan was always on my list of places to check out when I first moved to New York and I’ve been there several times since. The restaurant is a floating boat docked to a pier on the Hudson River. The boat is two stories so it is bigger than you think. It is a casual self-serve restaurant — you order food and drinks on your own, pick up your food when your number is called, and find your own seating in the central area. It’s first come first serve. Food is mediocre, but the drinks are great. I’ve had their pitchers of sangria and buckets of Coronas. You wouldn’t go here for the food, but sitting out on the Hudson River with a couple of drinks and enjoying the view of the Manhattan skyline is a guaranteed good time with friends. The atmosphere is fun, and generally with a younger crowd. Lines can be really long to get in on the weekends(at least a 30 minute wait) so it’s best to go on weekdays after work if you can. Frying Pan definitely has a different concept in NYC and if worth checking out! A plus is that they accept credit cards! Be prepared to show your ID to the bouncer at the entrance.

We only had Beer but the view was incredible. My favorite thing about the Frying Pan was the entrance with the railroad ties as my Fiancé and I love trains. Then there is train car for a nice photo snap. The bathrooms were really cool and we loved the multi level seating. It did end up raining but there is a cover over the bar area. So it was actually nice watching the sky. Next time we want to eat and I will update my review.

This is an über cool location to watch the sunset, watch the waves and grab a few drinks with friends. The lower level is really noisy — but if you get a table in the small outdoors section of the boat or upstairs it’s perfect. We didn’t try the food, so can’t comment on it. I’m giving them an extra star, as the restrooms were super clean. I was a little terrified to visit them after looking at the crowds, but there was an attendant cleaning it ferociously every five minutes. Thank you!

I came here for a birthday celebration. While the concept and the views are incredible, the price and the service is off putting. Coronas are 7 bucks a piece, and they only have a half-way decent craft beer selection. When I went up to the bar for a brewski, I remember thinking which beer is the lesser evil. I was with a large party(approximately 10 people) and there is very little room to accommodate the size. At first, we were on the second floor and was told multiple times we were blocking aisles. With the first ask, we consolidated significantly(people were practically sitting in each other’s lap). After the third ask, we gave up and went downstairs. One of us made a silly joke/groan worthy boat pun to lighten the mood and the deckhand snapped at her for it. After we moved down stairs, we got the same treatment, including someone yelling at me for standing at the bar waiting for my beer. While I enjoyed the ambiance, I will only come here once in a while with a smaller group.

This is a nice place to chill if you can get a seat. The food prices are a bit high but it is what it is. Huge space for large gatherings and if you are lucky enough to sit on the upper deck then you will enjoy a nice view of um, jersey. I got myself a burger and beer for $ 21. This particular day at almost 7 it was pretty light as usually it’s a mad house with a ton of people but it being Tuesday before a holiday weekend it seems like no one is around so more for me to drink.

Frying Pan is one of the most unique bars in New York City. It is located on the Hudson River where West 26th Street meets the West Side Highway. If you’re going on the weekend, expect to wait in line to get in. The wait is usually around 30 minutes during their peak hours. The cool thing about this bar is that it is located on a floating dock, but you can also drink board a decommissioned fire department boat of the roof! You will have an amazing view of the New York City and the Hudson River, which is beautiful, day or night. The bartenders are quick with the drink orders, but damn, the drinks are expensive. You are paying for the atmosphere and experience. I always have a great time when I drink here with friends.

The Frying Pan is a historical boat turn into a classy kinda dive bar in NYC. It’s located in the heart of Chelsea Pier with this beautiful view of the Hudson River, NYC, and Jersey city! One of my favorite spot to enjoy happy hour with friends and colleagues. It’s quite a distance from the train station, but highly recommend cabbing it or taking the cross down bus from 23rd street and Lexington. They have a great selection of beer and I love their sangria pitcher. I’m a fan of their veggie burger and blonde pale ale! Must go for happy hour, lunch, or brunch!

Ive been going to the Frying Pan for the past 3 yrs and its always been a great time. Whether it be after work or on the weekend, its always busy. They have a great beer selection on tap. The white sangria is great. Definitely makes sitting on a docked boat worthwhile. Ha. The food is great. They have a buzzer system when your food is ready. The staff is friendly and they are quick. There are two levels on the boat. On both levels, you get breathtaking views of the Hudson. Their is no cover which is great. Its definitely a place to unwind and enjoy the breeze.

What a fun place to have lunch in NYC. We were there last Sunday, our last day of our quick three-day weekend. It was very busy but we were lucky enough to find a table for two on the right most side of the barge with a great view of paddle boarders(one was even boarding with his dog on the board). I didn’t know it at the time, but you order your food and drinks at one of the bar areas and bring it back to your table yourself. I figured the food wouldn’t be good, but it was. I had a very flavorful chicken Caesar wrap with salad. I’d go back again, but I’d try to get there earlier so I could sit closer to the stage with the live band, not only because you can see the band, but that main area is covered, which is SO necessary on these hot days.

I arrived to the lengthy line outside this restaurant and bar on a Saturday afternoon. Luckily, I was meeting friends otherwise I might have been kept waiting for quite sometime. There are no waiters here, only busboys who will ask to take your empty drinks and finished plates. Once seated, it is up to you to order food on a separate line then wait with a buzzer for your order to be ready. There are several ancillary bars scattered around the restaurant. The menu is American with seafood. The view was gorgeous, right on the water. I had the clam bake, which was mussels, clams and shrimp served with corn on the cob and a piece of bread. There was quite a bit of seafood, earning the $ 24 price tag. There was a mix of younger people and families present, though the crowd was mostly younger people in their early to late 20s.

A long time ago, someone was thinking about opening a bar while sitting in a Real Estate class, and the professor said that the three most important elements of real estate are«location, location, and location.» This entrepreneur took this to heart, and thought, «what if I opened a bar in the greatest location possible, and then didn’t really care about whether the food is mediocre and the drinks are insanely overpriced? And then what if I invited all of the frat guys from Murray Hill to hang out all the time? Would people come?» Yes. Yes they would. Frying Pan is one of my favorite spots in New York, but you have to know what you’re getting yourself into. As I mentioned, the location is fantastic — a bit of a hike from the nearest subway, but the bar is located on a dock floating on the Hudson providing some great views of the NYC skyline, the river, and… um…I guess New Jersey too. Plus, the«Frying Pan» is actually a tugboat that’s docked on the dock and you can explore that too if you want a change of scenery. If you’re here around sunset, be sure to take the stairs up to the roof and snag a table near the end for the best views and Instagram opportunities(do I know you or WHAT?). The food here is a pretty weak take on bar food, so I’d avoid eating here unless the sangria has snuck up on you and you need to soak some alcohol up. Speaking of the Sangria(~$ 40), it’s delicious — make sure you get the white instead of the red because it’s far, far superior. Alternatively you can get a bucket of Coronas($ 36) to complete the feeling that you’re near water. #FindYourBeach Warning: this place gets super, super, super fratty on the weekends so if that’s your thing, welcome home. If it’s not, again, white sangria. Food/Drinks: 4⁄5 Value: 3⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Atmosphere: 5⁄5

When in the city, there isn’s a beach. This is as close to the water as you can get. It’s a large ship on the water… yes it sways, so bring your nausea meds. It’s really not bad. The drinks are so reasonably priced and Corona buckets come at large. This is perfect for groups and large parties. We went post Pride parade, and got seats at the bow with a great view of the river. It beats the rivers in Philly… let me tell you. The breeze is nice and it smells fresh(er than the center of the city). Best Directions:(route — 5 Stars) Grab a bit at the Chelsea Market Walk the High Line from Chelsea up North Finish the full High Line walk(1.5−2 miles?) Back track along the water less than.5 mile End with a drink with a view of the water. Order fries w/drink. I’m telling you, this is a way better way to tour the city of NY then being trapped in the midtown hustle.

Summer Fun IS The Frying Pan! A barge at Pier 66 is the best way to spend a summer day on the water with friends! Casual and easy! Maritime Martini as well as their White Sangria are simply delicious! Grill serves up variety of dishes. We usually begin with Shrimp Cocktail and Hummus Platter too! Grilled Chicken Wrap served with Greens is really tasty. I see so many order Cheeseburgers and Fries… Must be a winner! Verrrrrr Crowded at Happy Hour time as well as peak summer days… Line goes pretty quickly to get in. Love Frying Pan… 2 visits there just last week.

I’ve been in New York a very long time; almost three decades. What I come to expect of venues in Manhattan is usually not flattering. Usually, they make me consider moving to some far away country to open up a little shack by the beach. At first glance, Frying Pan was no different for me. I mean, it’s a boat and dock in the middle of Manhattan that serves booze and bar snacks. How could this be anything but tacky? I was floored. Yeah, the food was okay but the venue and view were amazing. You find your own seats(on the Frying Pan itself, on the main level, or on the open roof) and pay for everything up front. You enjoy as you please; no waiters, no settling bill(unless you chose to leave a tab open yourself) — just beer, great music, and a view that is hard to come by in Manhattan. And yes, there is a fairy tale ending to it too. I left some shoes(don’t ask) at the end of one of my visits(I will blame it on the alc… rain). The staff(you know, I’m talking about YOU Helen) somehow retrieved it and got them back to me. Until the next.

Great place to chill with friends and watch the sunset. Came here on a Sunday before sunset and there was already a line but we got in pretty quickly. There’s a lot of seating but sadly a lot of people come around this time too so we had to scavenge for a table and chairs. Drinks are pretty standard(don’t get the beer on draft though) and I heard that their white sangria was good so we tried it. Meh. It was more like drinking fruit syrup so I wouldn’t personally recommend it. As for food, we got the fries, sausage, and sliders. Fries are definitely great to snack on when you’re drinking so get those! And don’t forget to get a picture of the sunset while you’re at it! Word of warning: You are on the river and the ground WILLROCK. Don’t get too drunk!

PERFECT place for the spring or summer, yeah this review is obviously late, who can say no to being in the sun and on the water it’s more like a dock than an actual boat BUT you will feel a little bit of the rocking, esp if you get seasick so JUSTDRINKMORE order at the window with the RUDE worker, then go find yourself a table, you’ll get a buzzer to let you know when to pick up your food –calamari: surprisingly pretty good, you can make your own spicy mayo with the sriracha ketchup & mayo –old bay fries: okay, i prefer the more crispy regular fries –sangria: not bad but WHERE’S the alcohol? weak we had no problem finding a seat in the downstairs area, the upstairs was pretty crowded NOTE: self serve water, HYDRATE
