We live just around the corner and it’s our favorite place! So sad they’re closing. DON’T CLOSE! Best happy hour with a bucket of 5 bottles of beer of your choice for $ 20. Awesome staff. Yummy food!

This place reminds me of the Central Perk-over 21 spot for the Carnegie Hill area of NYC. There’s nothing special about this place except two things: They have HH from 3p-12a AND they have a full bar WITHJD Honey. Yahoo! :)

Nice décor and bar area. This used to be Hanratty’s before new management took over. During the nights you tend to get a lot of Blank and hispanic crowd that can get pretty loud and annoying. Since the bar across the street, One fish, two fish” closed down, this crowd has now flocked to Fox-n-fiddle. Can’t say that’s its an Irish bar – its just a bar/restaurant. Food is so so but pricey. Bar and wait staff are so so – no real personality. This place seems to be searching for an identity. Best to go on a weekend night when a more sedate crowd attends.

Simply the worst«pub» I’ve been to. No music, lights were very bright(at midnight) and the service so-so… We only went because our friends who had just gotten married wanted to have a last drink there. Otherwise I wouldn’t have even ordered a drink.

The handwritten message in green and red chalk, listing the days offerings of food specials and happy hour had me excited for my return trip later that same day. The five dollar pints from the tap had no domestic boundaries. Guiness, Stella, Modelo and more, most all served in their proper glass(s). Although late for St. paddys Day, yet cold enough to feel like Presidents day, I was hunkering for some Shepherds Pie. Very traditional ingredients on the inside, missing the egg washed toasted outside. Overall, one of the better Shepherds Pie I have had in the city, in a while. Somewhat inappropriate language being thrown around at the bar by a few of the locals on a fast, furious and continuous basis had me standing back a few feet. Just in time for me to peer over at the tele, to take a gander at opening day play for the Yankees in Houston. Only down 6 – 0 early on.

Let me start off by saying that I’m not the most classy guy in the world… Far from it actually. So when I say that my most recent visit here was a little trashy then I feel reasonably confident in my assessment. Place was full of scalawags and hooligans during my recent visit on a Wednesday night. I heard yelling so freakin load that I couldn’t even hear the music that was playing and couldn’t have a normal conversation across a table. Other than my evident love for the crowd on that night, I want to say a little about how dumb I think the happy hour deal is here. The«happy hour» runs from 3pm — midnight and includes 5 dollar draft beers and 6 dollar wells. IMO this should be the price all the time at a dive like this in a horrible location. Those might as well be the regular prices as HH pretty much encompasses all of the potentially high traffic hours. I just feel like it’s a touch of deceptive advertising which usually irks me a bit. Also, I ordered a Sam Adams and my friend ordered a Blue Moon. The bartender clearly brought us 2 Blue Moons hoping we wouldn’t notice and when we called her out she made up something about how they just changed the keg of Sam Adams to a different lager. Huh? Please don’t lie to me. Was originally gonna go with 2 stars here, but after writing this review and recalling my experience I gotta bump this down to a cellar dweller…1 star.

Came here for lunch with my cousin and the place was pretty empty, almost didn’t seem like it was open. From the current reviews, I didn’t know what to expect. Ordered the shepherds pie and the wait for our food felt like forever. But once it came, it was pretty worth it. The pie was a great meal to feed two for $ 15. Must come back for the night life.

This review is for the food only — I’ll keep this short and sweet: Cool atmosphere, pricey menu, average food. I did enjoy the shepherd pie but I didn’t enjoy it’s $ 15 price tag. This is New York. There are much better(and cheaper) food options. So if I were you, I would skip this place.

During my shameless traversal of Manhattan, supporting my wife during the NYC marathon, stopped by Fox n’ Fiddle for a pint and found Banoffee pie on the bar menu. Ordered a slice to see how it compares to the one across the pond, and it definitely matched up. Bananas, dulce de leche, whipped cream, all in a buttery pie crust. Nice snack, and off to the next checkpoint and pub!

This is a pub. A nice, down to earth Irish pub. The food is OK, and although I come here for dinner often with my son, my main goal is to come for a beer. They serve real pints. That alone is worth 5-stars. The staff is excellent. I love this place for being a casual neighborhood place to get a drink, eat if one must, and just relax. No upper east attitude found in this upper east joint.

Mixed review on this place. It’s a quaint atmosphere – you really feel like you’re in an Irish road house. Service was friendly and attentive. Food, though, was a mixed bag. My husband enjoyed his burger very much. I ordered a salad with grilled tuna and the fish was awful(mushy texture and off-taste). Had to send it back for one with grilled shrimp. The replacement salad, with perfectly char-grilled jumbo prawns, was delicious. So it’s hard to rate. Overall, it was an OK experience.

Sometimes when you walk by Fox n’ Fiddle, there are people at the table by the window. Sometimes they are drinking, sometimes they flapping their arms in the air to get the angry bartender’s attention for an initial round of drinks — or to add more rounds to the rounds that have already been consumed. Sometimes I am part of this group. Proudly, most definitely. Sometimes I am not — and I can only assume that at this point someone stole our seats and we are in the back. FnF is a pretty cool bar about 77 steps away from my office, and is often regarded as the«closest place to Sinai to get drinks.» I tend to agree, as bars in this particular area of the UWS are not as plentiful as blocks below. Nothing atypical about an experience here, you can get pretty much whatever drink you want. I tend to stick to beer, but I’ve heard they make a mean ‘tini and can proportionalize a vodka and diet with such infinitesimal amounts of error so as to approach near perfection. Well, no. Typical bar, typical bar food, and some pretty sweet happy hour deals. In fact, I challenge you to come here at a time when it ISN’T happy hour. Unless you’re a day drinker, you’re likely not paying full price. And the only thing better than getting an ice cold Blue Moon with a face-sized orange 77 steps from my desk after a long day is paying half as much for it.

I don’t really get the Unilocal hatred this place is getting. It’s nothing special, but for what it is, it certainly isn’t bad. $ 5 draught beers til midnight is not the most remarkable happy hour deal, but some of their options will run you 6 or 7 bucks at most other bars, so a couple dollars saved is nothing to laugh at. The pub fare is what you expect from a british-style pub(england is definitely not known for their food). I kind of really enjoy the cobb salad and find myself ordering it every time. The bf goes for the fish and chips(complete with mushy peas), and the fries are a hearty steak-cut side. If you want something fried, it probably isn’t too bad either. All-in-all, if you’re craving a taste of food from across the pond, you can get your fix here. Sometimes service is great, other times it’s hard to flag a waitress down, but if you’re settled with your beers and you’ve placed your order, the food will be out quickly and you can enjoy your pub experience with friends.

I really like the Fox. Delicious fries and gravy, solid mac n cheese, happy hour that lasts all night, $ 6 quality glasses of wine and great service.

This is a relaxed pub with a pleasant Irish bartender. I’m not sure why everyone is leaving such negative reviews. If you’re looking for a fancy bar with fancy food, go to one of the fancy restaurants on Madison. I like to come here because I can relax and enjoy my beer and maybe watch a game. For food, I recommend the bar menu. You get more food for your buck. Ive had the quesadillas and some kind of rolls, and both were good.

Food okay but the problem is that a lunch for three people cost $ 70. That was 2 turkey sandwhiches, a roast beef wrap and 3 ice teas. I know this is the Upper East Side, but Really? Really? $ 70 ! As i said the food was okay but not THAT okay.

After my last day of clinical at Mt. Sinai, my group and I came here for a late lunch around 2pm. We walked in to a deserted restaurant with one guy at the bar and one waitress walking around. This place seemed really dead, but we decided to sit down for lunch. Here are a couple things that we ordered: — Stir Fry Salt-Pepper Fresh Squid and Shrimp with Chili, Arugula, and Citrus Aioli $ 12 — Roast Beef Wrap Avocado, Lettuce, Cajun Mayo $ 12 — Turkey Burger Pickles, Lettuce, Tomato & Fries $ 12 The waitress was friendly, but she did not refill our waters and kept forgetting to bring the sodas that we ordered. The food was just average. The wrap tasted like something that I can pick up at the corner deli for half the price. My friend ordered the burger, and she only ate half of it. Everything was just okay, nothing amazing or satisfying. After I left the restaurant, I just felt like I put food in my stomach. Save your money for another place. I would not come back.

Was great in its Hanratty days. Since then, it’s become another restaurant, and now has come back from the dead as the… un-dead. We entered – granted on a Saturday at 2pm – and no one greeted us. No one was in the dining room; a few people at the bar. Food took too long to arrive and then one entrée of five took another 5 minutes. My fish(of the fish and chips) was nicely battered but had a too-mushy interior. Very unappetizing. The last entrée to arrive, a kids platter of two sliders, came out with the hamburgers reshaped and overcooked on a cut-up hot dog bun. Doesn’t go over well with a child, and therefore puts a damper on the meal. I rarely complain at a restaurant unless everything’s going wrong. Everything was going wrong with this restaurant. Skip it.
