Five Guys Burgers and Fries

I don’t know what everyone raves about. Average hamburgers, good fries, not the cleanest 5 Guy’s I’ve been to. Service okay. I have eaten at a number of 5 Guy’s Restaurants. All have been pretty much the same… average food.

You know I used to eat here a lot and lately I haven’t been as much. They raised their prices and I am finding I like a few other burger places in the area a little bit better. Their fries are still hard to complete with but they give you so many that if I am alone I don’t like to order them because it is too much for me. I wish they had a «little fry» option like they do for their burgers. This location is always very busy though, which is another reason why I don’t go here as often.

This is an extremely busy Five Guys on 29^th st and 7ave right by Grand Central.
I came here just for the Cajun fries at 8pm on a weekday and had to waited at least 10 minutes for it. But I do appreciate that everything in Five Guys are super fresh and made as you order. And the free peanuts always help the wait.
I have never tried the Cajun fries before, I’ve been missing out all this time with the regular fries. The Cajun seasoning was awesome, together with Five Guys amazing fries as is, I could eat a regular fries by myself.

Great place! Clean and neat. Love to hung out with my friends there. Fries are so so so good!

@Five_Guys and @FiveGuys This place is quite addictive, therefore you need a very strong backbone avoiding this place if you are trying to stick on your diet. What makes me return and break my diet is their excellent customer service. The customer service deserves a gold star. I can order 50 double cheeseburgers and they will not crack. They don’t have an issue delivering service with a smile.
Recommendations:
Remove the tables & chairs that are there and replace them with stool tables & chairs. This will allow more customers to dine in during lunch time.
Create a $ 6 deal that would includes burger and fries. Set the time frame for this deal from 12 to 2pm to generate revenue that would give both McDonald’s and Wendy’s issues to keep up with you.

The service is really friendly and cool the way everyone communicates. They are also fast and efficient during busy lunch time. I’ve been to five guys before at a different location but this location has by far the best service. The burger was not the best but not horrible

Pretty good in terms of the five guys locations I’ve been to. Not the best I’ve been to in midtown (Third & 43^rd) but nonetheless pretty good.
I got some resistance from the cashier who happened to be the manager when I requested a «crazy amount of extra cheese». She said they could only put 1 slice of cheese on a burger, and I told her that she literally could put way more. Put your mind to it. She told me it would be a dollar extra and I gave her a $ 10 bill and said go crazy but she just laughed and opted to put extra cheese anyway.
What is the deal with such reluctance to put extra cheese at a customer’s request, especially when the customer is ready willing and able to pay for it??? Are we in a cheese shortage? Is this 1940s mid-​WW2 era rationing???

Ok the food taste very yummy the staff is nice but the prices omg a on the expensive side, they have free peanuts thou but I wish they would lower the price.

Had the little bacon burger, just like any typical burger. The only positive thing about five guys is the option of unlimited toppings and the fresh fries, not a big fan of the Cajun fries since its a little too salty.

Average at best. This location is not consistent and it seems like every 3 times I come here I’m completely unhappy with my burger one of those instances (i.e. stone cold burger). I just don’t have words because I just ate yet another cold burger and I’m annoyed!

We’ve tried several burger restaurants while staying in NYC and Five Guys definitely lived up to the expectations that we had after reading about it on Unilocal.
I loved that the standard burger always includes two freshly made patties and you can choose as many toppings as you would like. Their fries were definitely a lot better than the ones we had at other restaurants. The portion size was more than enough — we both got the regular sized portion and while they fill everything in a cup they actually double that portion once they have put everything in the paper bag. I would definitely get a small portion next time.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is not as cosy as in other restaurants but that doesn’t really matter since it’s more of a fast food restaurant than brgr (also on 7^th).

Ok so let me start off by saying that this is the best five guys hands down! The staff were so nice and bubbly they made me want to sit and eat my food (couldn’t, was in a rush)!
I had the best burger ever! It was so juicy and the Cajun fries had just the kick to get after the burger. I would love to go back there. Also, In the mist of me enjoying this burger by the lirr I noticed my phone was missing! I called every store I went too, no phone. So I called five guys and the manager said I was expecting you. She welcomed me back to store even though they were about to close just to give me my phone. Best management and Food !!! Must go.

I’m biased as I basically like their burgers, fries, and roasted dry peanuts. i would always eat at Five Guys, even at their locations along the highways where we have to make a stop and quickly grab something to eat (and then go!). to my mind, it’s a good place to dine alone or with friends. the last time i was here, my friend and i were the last customers for the day. we spent over 20 minutes munching on our burgers while we watched in the background how the staff were working and preparing to close for the day. it seems like a smooth flow of operations they follow and pursue here. i think the key to their ongoing success is consistency in following a clear set of systems and procedures, which is something common to franchises like this one. McDonalds and the others could very well learn from how Five Guys is doing its business (of course, I know each franchise is different).

Yummy… Five Guys was another quick grab and go joint near the hotel. I missed the In N Out burgers while traveling on business. Five Guys was a familiar place that filled the void. I had to order a delicious full size burger with everything including jalapenos. It was super good… Top that off with a large order of fries and a freshly baked cookie at the Doubletree and I’m off to bed.
This location was pretty quiet close to closing time. We stayed past the closing time and they didn’t kick us out, which was cool.

Yeah, yeah Five Guys is not bad whatever. Okay burgers, cajun fries (Woohoo!!). I’m just going to dedicate this review to the soda machine.
*_​_​_​_​* Oh my god the varieties of choice! I never seen such machine made from heaven! There’s so many choices to choose from! Coke flavors with Cherry, Vanilla, Lime, Diet, Diet Cherry, Diet Vanilla, Diet Lime! Fanta, Seagram gingerale with 4 different flavors, Rootbeer, energy drinks. It’s all here! Basically all the Coke company beverage is sitting in ONE machine! I never seen such magnificent fountain! It’s like a dream come true! Why don’t they have this everywhere I go? Why don’t every fast food joint offer Vanilla Coke?

Il y a pour moi deux types de burgers:
–le burger que l’on mange avec couteau et fourchette au restaurant
–le burger de fast food que l’on mange à la main comme on peut
Five Guys se situe donc dans la deuxième catégorie et il est pour moi le meilleur burger que j’ai jamais mangé dans cette catégorie !
Étonnant? Pas tant que ça ! Quand on lis les divers avis et recommandations des journaux new yorkais, on comprend qu’on né joue pas dans la cour des petits. Le New York Times, le Herald Tribune, etc… le donnent comment le meilleur burger de New York. Comment font-​ils? Ce n’est visiblement pas si complexe que ça, il suffit juste de bien s’y prendre. Car dans ce burger, il n’y a pas de sauce mystère mais simplement une bonne façon de le faire et des ingrédients que l’on choisi (pour moi c’était fromage, champignons, salade et oignons grillés). Le steak est parfaitement cuit, le fromage bien fondu, bref, tout est bien exécuté.
Côté frites, elles sont tip top et né faites pas l’erreur d’en prendre une maxi puisque l’on vous remplit le sac, façon de parler ! Une régular pour deux suffit ! Enfin côté boisson, un gobelet à remplir soi-​même et en refill est plus qu’agréable, ça vous permet de goûter toutes les boissons inconnues que le distributeur Coca-​Cola vous propose !
Autre aspect de cet établissement, son design et sa propreté. Dans la catégorie fast food, je le trouve très bien entretenu, propre et toujours impeccable. Avec son décor rouge et blanc faisant fortement écho à la marque de soda américaine, ce lieu est un spot incontournable pour tout bon new yorkais de passage pour déguster un bon burger américain.

I have to say, It’s consistently perfection.
My order is never wrong. The burger, which you can see being made because they aren’t afraid of clear glass, is moist and juicy and my toppings are ALWAYS correct.
The Cajun fries are always in excess in the bag. Glorious excess. And I can’t get enough of the soda machine variety– Hello Mello Yello!!!

Unless I am eating a burger at Diner in Brooklyn or at the Minetta Tavern in Manhattan, I pretty much avoid eating a burger anywhere other than Five Guys.
There are so many burger joints out there these days, but Five Guys continues to rank as my favorite. I love that I can get red hot, freshly-​sliced jalapeños on my burger here. And I love that they can cook a burger with that perfectly crunchy outside that’s oh-​so-​juicy on the inside, gooey cheese, bacon and all. Nom nom nom. Smashburger, eat your heart out.
I don’t recommend eating more than two or three of these a year, but when you do, go all-​in and just flush your arteries later.

The cheesy hotdog is great, a wonderfully unhealthy lunch I allow myself once a year.
The burger is so blehhhh I wish Park Slope Brooklyn hippies didn’t make such a big deal out of this place. It’s so subpar!

Good burger for a fast food burger joint. Does it make my list of Top Burgers? Not yet. my list is for gourmet burgers… Sorry, if I’m a burger snob. Actually this is the best fast food burger I have been to… Fries are OK…
How often would I come here? Umm, I’m a burger snob and look for gourmet burgers. Five Guys has processed patties and cooks them well done. Well, when they are McD’s thin, of course they are well-​done… Prob not soon because of that… sowwie!

Probably the most unhealthiest meal I have eaten recently, but after a week of being sick and hardly eating much I was finally in the mood for a gut busting greasy burger.
The place itself has that old fashioned soda shop feel with the red and white checkered décor, some tables and counter space to sit at, and a small no-​nonsense burger and fry menu. Everything is cooked to order and is made fresh. There are even bags of potatoes piled on the floor that they use to make the fries with. Clean looking and they have classic rock playing too.
The burgers here are served as a double patty or as a «little» burger with a single patty. Of course, my inner fatty went with the double fat ass burger with bacon. Also cool here is that they offer unlimited toppings out of 15 or so choices. I also ordered a small cajun fries and a large soda. Whoa — they have those new-​fangled digital soda machines with over 20 different drinks offerered. I had to try out a Mr Pibb Diet Cherry Vanilla soda. Yeah, I’m fooling no one with a diet soda!
It takes a few minutes to get your food as the cooking process takes a bit of time, but at least it’s freshly made. While you are waiting there are barrels of salted peanuts in the shell to take a scoop and munch on. Yes, they are free! I decided to stay there and eat rather than take it back to work as I feel it would go over better served up hot, and I was right. The burger itself is a hulking bunch of meat piled high with the toppings I chose. Tasty enough with a nice grilled flavor to it, but not the juiciest burger I have ever eaten. The cajun fries are the way to go as you literally get a small island of a portion over flowing out of the cup they are served in! Fresh russet potato taste with a spicy cajun coating. Get these over regular fries any day!
Can’t really find too much to complain about. As there are a bunch of sub-​par places to eat at near this Penn Station area this was a welcome option. My burger was prepared just as I asked, the service was competant, lots of soda choices, free peanuts, and it filled my belly.

Great loaction with really nice burgers and sandwiches. I feel five guys should open up more outlets back in chicago, people really love the five guys. But chicago just has a couple of them.
The staff was nice and my burger just tasted like heaven.
