Tasty burger goodness. We came on a Friday night and the place was packed. We lucked out and snagged the last table. Service was friendly and quick. Don’t try to sit without a server pointing you towards a table though. I had a basic burger with horseradish cheddar and avocado. It was fantastic. They weren’t skimpy on the avocado and the toasted bun made it a great combo. Hubby got a burger with a potato pancake and sundries tomato on it. He was very happy with it. Pitchers of beer were decently priced. Good choice for a good burger.

I was holding auditions just around the corner from BIB. It had been a super long day and I was still doing work while we had dinner, which was SUPERB. Mushroom truffle burger on point AND they carry River Horse Tripel Horse… and sell it by the pitcher, it’s amazing. The food may have been great, but the service was better. Everyone was awesome and friendly, but the clincher was when I stupidly left my brand-new MacBook Pro on the seat, forgetting it in my fatigue. I was DEVASTATED when I finally realized what I’d done, as I am not living in town right now and even if it wasn’t stolen I had a bus to catch early in the morning. The OUTSTANDING bartender, Miguel, spotted my computer before it could be snatched up. He got my name from the open screen and found me on Facebook to tell me it was safe. I can’t tell you how absolutely beautiful doing something like that is, when it’s so easy to do the wrong thing. He went above and beyond, I am so thankful. HEIS A STAR. GIVETHISMAN A RAISE. Thank you thank you thank you, Miguel! And thanks to BIB for hiring such upstanding, awesome people!

Not bad. Good for the price point. The place itself has a fun, sports bar type feel. The burger I had was a little on the bland side.

Burger, fries, beer, and a milkshake. There are a limited number of things that can make me happier than this meal combination. This is a solid place if you’re craving one or all of the above. The regular fries are better than the herb garlic ones. Get the free one with the Unilocal check-in! I opted for the Black Iron Burger and loved it! Nothing beats Minetta Tavern for me, but it was definitely a really great burger. The vanilla milkshake was a nice addition to the meal. Overall, really great place to go for happy hour or a quick dinner by Penn Station. Highly recommended!

Super reasonably priced for NYC and a huge selection of beers. The guac was delicious, as were the fried tomatoes. I built my own burger and it was great, definitely happy we happened to go in here tonight! Server was also lovely and the rest of the staff was super friendly!

This is actually a great burger for the price. I got the black iron burger and Cajun fries. The burger definitely had the melt in your mouth effect. I’d definitely come back.

Yummy well cooked burger, nice size basket of fries. If you check in the French fries are free. Staff wasn’t very attentive was missing bacon from my son’s burger and had to request it, also had to request refills on drinks. It was a good experience and I would go back if I was in town again the location was right around the corner from our hotel so it was perfect!

This place is awesome the reason I gave it a 4 star and not five is the lack of a second bathroom. 1 unisex bathroom for the entire place to many beers later not cool!!! We need at least 1 more bathroom please.

Really solid burger and a convenient location near penn station. Prices are reasonable. Prompt and friendly service. Had many TVs-all dedicated to March Madness which was appreciated. Had the BIB patty melt and the onions were carmelized to perfection. Good amount of cheese. The sandwich bread was toasted well for a nice crunch that doesn’t hurt the roof of your mouth. Checked into Unilocal for the free fries which were subpar. I liked how they were shoestring-y and had some potato skins on them still, but they weren’t crispy at all. In all fairness, I’m not a huge fan of potatoes though

So I know there’s this new trend of burgers going around these days, and I’ve been pretty on top of it. Beef burgers are the norm, but now they can be made of anything. Buffalo burger? Eaten it. Turkey burger? Gobbled it down. Elk burger? Sure, I hate reindeer imposters as much as the next guy. But when I heard of the black iron burger, I knew I had to rise to the challenge. I know what you’re thinking, and the answer is yes, I did prepare for my showdown. I went on an extensive two week training regimen of brushing my teeth extra(for the fluoride) and even ordering a set of steel dentures, a shady but technically legal strategy. Then, I made my move. Like a champion fighter, I entered the restaurant, dentures ready, heart pounding, adrenaline flowing. I ordered one black iron burger, and said a silent goodbye to my teeth. I was as ready as I would ever be. Imagine my shock at my first bite when my teeth sunk right through the bun, through the BEEF patty, the surprisingly delicious horseradish mayo, the blend of spices… with not a colored metal to be found! I felt misled, but at the same time, a bit relieved that I wouldn’t have to try to bite through solid iron(in retrospect, metal burgers seem like a questionable business strategy). Dentures out, I finished my burger along with the free fries(thanks Unilocal!) and really enjoyed my meal. Kind of a letdown but in a good way, I guess. 4 stars.

The truffle mushroom burger was pretty good… but I had better. Very disappointed by the size(truffle mushroom burger is 6oz and most burgers are only 4oz). They do give you a lot of fries though(free thanks to Unilocal~) The fried tomatoes were pretty good, worth a try. Atmosphere is LOUD… so LOUD where you can’t even carry a conversation. This place is small and crammed. Customer service was ok. Price is decent consider your in NYC. Worth a try if you’re in the neighborhood.

Had the turkey burger with their special Aioli sauce and yucca chips, both were delicious, the yucca chips were on the thin side, but still good! My boyfriend had the classic burger and the loaded fries were amazing! The wait staff is very is great, brought everything quickly, came around often, my idea of great service!

OMG the mushroom truffle burger!!! Don’t like mushrooms or onions? Doesn’t even matter… just get it anyways. It’s THAT good! Been here like 2 or 3 times since it’s down the street from my office. I don’t come in often since I try and eat healthy most of the time… and this is def not the place to come when you’re trying to be good! For those days when you don’t give a #$&* and just want some good food… come here! I’ve always sat at the bar and had great service. Friendly bartender. They have a decent happy hour too! Seriously though… just do it.

Perfect quasi-below-the-radar stop for pre-MSG drinks and food. It’s just far away from the Garden that I was able to walk in and get a table for 3 with no wait(also open seats at the bar) at 6pm before a college hoops double dip at 7. It filled up around 8(the bigger game tipped off at 9, so the pre-game crowd was staggered; maybe it’s more crowded before Knicks/Rangers). I actually thought the food was even better than the Alphabet City original; I went with the Black Iron with bacon. Horseradish cheddar and horesradish mayo are just enough to make it a little different; juicy and satisfying when you are desperately craving a good burger. The ai-oli fries and loaded fries were both really good, but essentially the same. Lots of interesting brews on tap for an area appropriate $ 7 a pint($ 4.50 happy hour) or a steal-for-the-area $ 19/pitcher. Note to management, though… fix the front door, which sticks open sometimes and is pretty annoying in the cold.

Stopped by for a quick bite before the basketball game at MSG. Tried their Black Iron Burger which was not bad, but also not great. It was filling and done as requested(medium-well),. Ordered side of fries, rings and vanilla shake to wash down. Quick and courteous service. Did not break the bank. Definitely a place to grab a satisfying meal before an event in the area.

I’d come back if only for the Ai-Oli Fries! Good LORD. I pretty much never want to have French fries again unless they are covered with aioli, bacon, and scallions. Post-gym, a friend and I wanted to put some calories back IN us, so we arrived at Black Iron Burger for dinner. I opted for the Hashbrown Burger; a small potato pancake was wedged between two hamburger patties, along with sun-dried tomatoes, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and tartar sauce. This burger is definitely a winner! Have a napkin or five ready for when you’re done, however. It’s delightfully sloppy. My friend got the Masterpiece, your typical cheeseburger with a fried egg. She enjoyed it, dripping egg yolk and all! Though the food was good and the service was friendly, service was a bit hard to come by. We had our food within 10 minutes of ordering it, but it was hard to get the attention of our waiter for the remainder of the time we were there. Granted, it was only him and one other guy. I understand having to tend to other guests, absolutely. I had ordered a Sprite and didn’t get it until the end of our meal. A free order of plain French fries we got via the Unilocal App(!!!) had to be taken off of our bill, as it was added in as an item to pay for, and that took a good 10 minutes as well. *shrug* Like I said, they were a bit short-staffed, so I empathized. I was pleased with the food and would definitely come back if I was in the area, or, most likely, post-gym. ;-)

My co-workers and I have been eyeing Black Iron Burger since they opened as they are only 2 blocks from our office. This is not recommended for a work lunch if you don’t have the time to wait. We ordered take-out since we had a meeting to rush to. The three of us placed orders one after another. We were told to wait for our orders by the doorway. This was at 12:40pm. Our third person finally received her order at 1:07pm, almost a ½ an hour wait for our food. We each only ordered a burger and fries. The burger was disappointing. I ordered the Wasabi Burger done medium rare with sweet potato fries. By the time I got to the office only 2 blocks away, the fries were a soggy mess and cold. At least poke a hole on the lid to let the condensation out. The burger meat was cooked as intended, however, I had hoped there would be a bit of a kick being that it is supposed to be Wasabi and Horseradish flavored on the mayo and cheese. The mushrooms that were between the two patties were tasty and seasoned well– the only redeeming part about the toppings. Next time, if I have the excess time, I’ll probably get a regular burger with no sides. There’s no reason to get a specialty burger as the toppings are tasteless and the sides are soggy for take-out… or just hit up Five Guys on the next block. Disappointing. Maybe they should stick to being just a eat in only kind of place if they can’t handle the take-out orders or a lunch rush.
