Really loved the décor — reminds me of the Greek blue sea. The fish was okay. Conveniently located near the UN.

We came here the evening of the Jonas blizzard of 2016. What’s nice find! Because most of the city was shut down(including public transportation) the restaurant appeared to be a little short-staffed, but I don’t think service suffered too much. Being one of the few restaurants opened during the blizzard, the place was packed(around 7:00 pm). Seating is a little tight. We were seated at a table towards the side wall where the tables were probably an inch between each other(they had to pull the table out for me to get seated on the bench that spanned the wall). We were served warm pita and bread(with hummus) and water upon seating. If you want tap water make sure you say so – they ask if you want still or sparkling. Both options are bottled Voss water(at $ 9 a pop). The menu was extensive. They have fresh fish, which is their specialty it appears. There is a seafood display towards the back of the restaurant. This is where the staff selects a fresh whole fish to take to the kitchen to be cooked. I had the aveglemono(chicken lemon soup). It was one of the best I had. It was not creamy at all(good, because that’s they way it should be). It was piping hot, which was perfect for the storm. For dinner I had the kotopoulo(oregano chicken) with oven baked lemon potatoes… Yummy! The chicken was perfectly marinated and cooked. There was enough food for two meals but I ended up eating all of it. We got complimentary dessert(galaktoboureko and Greek chocolate mousse) as did all patrons. That was a nice touch. We would definitely be back!

So disappointed in this restaurant. Had such high hopes for my boyfriends birthday dinner and they fell flat. Had to speak to a manager after waiting 15 minutes for another glass of wine. Followed by an overlooked piece of salmon which I was forced to send back and always feel bad about doing. My poor boyfriend was a good sport but I could tell he was disappointed.

I absolutely loved this place. It’s bright, fun, and not to mention comfortable(the seats are awesome). The food is delicious. For the entrée I had the seafood orzo and it was amazing. Nothing but the shells were left on my plate. If it’s a birthday they do a cute thing where they turn down the lights and blast an old tunes song with a giant candle thing. Very fun. Not many great places in this area. This might be my new go to. Enjoy!

Not sure why there is so little reviews for this spot! Ethos is a great go-to upscale Greek place. They always have fresh seafood and their Greek specialties are on-point. The staff is playful and out spoken and I have never had a bad meal here. Strong drinks too!

Now throw your hands in the air! And wave ‘em like you just don’t care! Get ready for a party atmosphere when you come to dine at Ethos Gallery. The atmosphere is beachy and beautiful. I felt like I was in the Hamptons, and I’ve never been to The Hamptons. But that’s the vibe, and the clientele dress for the occasion, and dressed to impress. The service is top notch. Very very friendly. The food is wonderful and is very authentic. I ordered the fresh whole Dorado which was cooked simply… grilled and drizzled with olive oil an capers. It was fantastic. Sis loved her baby lamb shank over orzo. I would try that dish next time. It looked fantastic. People must know that this place gets FUN for birthdays and other celebrations because there were quite a few when we were there. All the light dim, loud dance music blasts over the system and the servers walk out with sparklers to the celebrating table. The host flung wads over paper napkins into the air like confetti. It’s hard not to smile and have a good time even if you’re not celebrating yourself. At the end of the meal our server brought us an absolutely delicious dessert of chocolate mouse and two glasses of Green sweet wine that tasted like honey. What a sweet way to cap of a delicious meal.

Lively and vibrant place! This restaurant is such a fun place, it is also geared towards people who want to go out have some drinks and hang out with friends and celebrate occasions. The food offers a variety of Greek seafood and traditional Greek entrees. The best fish to try out is the«fagri», also known as a Mediterranean white snapper(a lot of meat on that fish!). My favorite non seafood entrees are their baby lamb special and the lamb shank with the orzo in the tomato and feta sauce. Very friendly servers. Best regards and thanks to Stamatis for hosting us, Yiannis for mixing our cocktails and Dimitris for giving us great tableside service. We will see you all again soon.

Bread was plentiful. Nicely seasoned with olive oil and herbs. Meze platter a little lacking in portions. And by a little lacking I mean a lot lacking. Very tight space. Sitting on top of the other table. Every time the busboy walked by he hit my chair. Unpleasant to say the least. Good chicken kebabs. Subbed rice pilaf for french fries. Felt a little rushed by the waitress and busboys. Birthdays: lights go out and music hurting the ears. Offensive on a week night. This isn’t a club.

Decent Greek seafood in east midtown. Enjoyed the food and the look of the restaurant however it was extremely noisy. The noise level made it virtually impossible to hold a conversation with my date. Additionally the staff was pushy. They were rushing each course so as to turn tables faster. They even asked the party at the table next to us to vacate their table(they hadn’t even finished their dessert)! Food made up for the less than stellar service.

Loved this place! First Greek dining experience and I loved everything about it from the lively and bright atmosphere to the amazing food and outstanding service ! Hummus and pita bread, appetizers: grilled Octopus, spanakopita, were great and classic Greek salad with the tastiest tomatoes, were great. Had fagri fish and spinach as an entrée which was wonderful — only negative is It had a lot of bones. They served a complimentary amazing(thick, heavy) amazing yogurt desert with walnuts and a light sauce. Such a fun lively atmosphere– great for a date or get together with friends and definitely for a birthday– part of the fun was they would increase the volume of the upbeat fun music and bring out a desert with sparklers every once in a while for people celebrating their birthdays . Fantastic spot !

THISISTHEPLACE! I cannot say enough great things about this establishment — the food, the music, the ambiance, and the staff. A few weeks ago, our group of 18 women celebrated birthdays here, and the entire experience was stupendous! I was in charge of the cake, and I really had no idea how I was going put it all together when I arrived at the restaurant… Well, upon arrival, with my large bag of decorations, a bit soaked from the rain, I showed my design to Dimitri. Basically, he gave me a glass of wine and told me to just sit and relax! He executed the design beautifully… even making it better. Wow!(pix posted) That’s how they handled the entire evening for our group. Dimitri, George, and the servers made sure that we were taken care of and that we had a wonderful time. We drank, ate, and danced to our hearts content. And, it was an even more special night because other diners just celebrated with us or at least cheered us on. Again, this is the place. I highly recommend that you consider Ethos Gallery 51 for your next celebration, big or small. This establishment is just sheer happiness. I can’t wait to check out happy hour soon and visit our new friends there.

A couple of friends I knew invited me to dine with them at this Greek restaurant. When I arrived and met up with them we were promptly seated near the bar area. This place is very noisy to say the least which makes carrying on a conversation a bit difficult but I managed. We were given hummus with complimentary pita bread. We each had a glass of wine and decided to share appetizers or what they call small plates. We ordered octopus which was outstanding! The other I guess seemed like they were eggplant rolls. Those were good as well. We shared a Greek salad and the tomatoes were to die for! I had never tasted tomatoes as good as these and I can only stand tomatoes to a degree in a meal. Not these, they were delicious! The waiter went over the daily specials and I was in the mood for swordfish. It came with a cream sauce and rice along with mixed vegetables. I thought it was alright. One of the friends had scallops and the other had roasted lamb. I got to sample that and it was very good. During our meal the room was darkened for a few minutes while they brought out a sparkly cake and sang a Greek song for someone’s birthday. Now that was really unique! I finished my swordfish and knew I couldn’t eat another bite when out came dessert that appeared to be a baklava and a custard tart. Served with them was chocolate mousse for dipping. One of the desserts really had no flavor to it but the other seemed good. Needless to say I was stuffed that I could barely walk. Please be aware of the fact that this place is very expensive and gets very crowded. I did not make the reservation but I am sure I would need to schedule in advance if I were. Nevertheless I had a great time with good friends and good food.

I’m quite perplexed by the bad reviews Ethos has received from so many folks. I was here for the first time ever last week, and had an excellent experience! My wife and I decided to give Ethos a try last Thursday night after having walked past it several times. The host that greeted us was a super friendly guy and seated us immediately. I was surprised at how busy the place was for a Thu night! Neither of us were particularly ravenous, so we decided to order the small plate of the Braised Shrimp and an order of Moussaka. While we were waiting, we were served bread and hummus. The bread was warm, had a sprinkling or parsley and olive oil drizzled on it, and was REALLY good. As was the hummus. When our food arrived, the verdict was unanimous — we both thought the food was VERY good! The shrimp was extremely favourful and well prepared. Likewise, the Moussaka. It was light, and very tasty. The service was very prompt, and always, with a smile. Just when we thought that we were done, we were in for a pleasant surprise. Complimentary dessert! We were served a plate of ice cream, baklava and cake(–like item). All 3 were really good. I am a fan, Ethos. Despite the somewhat steep prices, I think this is a very good restaurant and will definitely be back for more! If you’re looking for an upscale, trendy Greek place, look no further!

I have to say that I am appalled that they charge $ 6 for an Iced Tea with no refill, they should be ashamed of themselves. We had 3 appetizers and 2 Iced Teas. $ 80.00 with tip. Seriously? Won’t be going back anytime soon…

this this modern midtown Greek spot! It’s a simple place where you can go dressed casually but there is great service. The food was so yummy I had the lamb and I must say it was perfect, so savory and cooked to perfection. As per usual I tried everyone’s food around me so I can say the salmon was fresh and seasoned well and the Bronzino was cooked very simply and was fresh as well.

My friend I ordered salad, appetizer, whole fish and sides… food was good but whole fish was $$$$$ pricy My husband is chef from one of fancy restaurant but he thinks they are overpriced… whole fish was $ 78 Menu says it is $ 38 and our server says its for two pp??? Did not want argue and we paid but really? Just grilled fish is $ 78. Our server was super nice and we did want to drink coffee but b4 we got our coffee manager gave us check and ask us to move to bar… They are busy but I would not go back if I have to pay fish for $ 78 and rush to move table for last moment…

3 Star average rating is an extremely accurate rating. Food — Really nothing special. Everything was drenched in olive oil — beyond Greek cuisine standards. Couldn’t taste anything. Fish was bland, raw oysters had WAY too much shell in it, and one was way too sketchy to eat. The octopus salad was just burnt, dry octopus on extremely salty arugula, with some out of place berries. Service — Our waitress and the host were extremely friendly and attentive, the busboys were as well. We just kept having issues with the timing of the food. We got our salads before our appetizers, then they brought the appetizers out and took the salad back as we were about to start serving it to each other… Quite odd. Then the time between the salad and main course was a good 15 minutes of waiting. Ambiance — Some may like it, some may hate it, but this place is LOUD. It is packed, which gives you a great vibe for a dreary, sterile, uncultured area(Midtown East). Every few minutes they would dim the lights and play a kitsch song(mambo no. 5, it’s raining men, etc), and bring out a giant flame candle for people’s birthdays. It’s fun, if that’s what you’re looking for. Overall if this place were 30% cheaper, I’d be fine with it. The food was mediocre, and it’s a shame, because Greek food’s beauty is in its quality and simplicity.
