Me finding this place was a i was hungry moment. So i did like the fact that they were open in the wee hours. But disliked the fact that choices were slim. The employees tried to accommodate me but they were more in tune with spesking with each since they had worked the last few hours together. The food was bland and when i ordered something different it was tart.

Stumbled into this place after drinking. Best decision ever. I ordered the fried chicken biscuit and the grits! It was delicious! It’s just that the place is really small and I wish they had a bathroom!

Great spot for late night eats after a long night of drinking. It’s always busy on the weekend night even if you wader in around 2AM. The sandwiches are made to order so they’re always hot and fresh. I’ve been here a few times and it’s always been good. But on my most recent visit I did see a worker drop some tongs on the floor and then proceed to use them to place fried chicken on a sandwich…

So glad I tried. A little pricey, but the butter biscuit is dreamy. I would like to try the fried chicken sandwich next time if it’s a biscuit sandwich… that would be amazing!

Stumbled in one morning with a friend because we didn’t feel like waiting an hour for brunch at nearby restaurants. The cheese grits and chicken biscuit were out of this world! Definitely will be returning!

Ordered on Seamless so the review might be a bit skewed due to that. I definitely think the biscuits would be better if eaten fresh. Ordered a bacon and egg biscuit and blueberry and corn butter biscuit. I definitely preferred the sweet. The bacon and egg would have been better on a croissant or something: the biscuit was too hard and was a bit too salty. However, the blueberry one was really good. The sweetness of the jam complimented the buttery biscuit. I would recommend you get this in store rather than via a delivery service.

Empire biscuit is an interesting place at 4am because the customers are either trashed and smiling because they’re finishing their night with a big ass biscuit sandwich chock full of fresh ingredients or they’re trashed and sad after they ran into their ex at [whatever east village liquor dumpster] and are weeping on to their egg and sausage biscuit taking the occasional angry, drunken bite. My favorite is the good olé ham and egg with cheese.

A damn good biscuit. And they’re open 24 hours! Best late night snack food. The biscuit is crisp, the inside is buttery and soft, it’s my too thick, not too thin, and the fillings are great.

Tried two of their biscuits Ham egg and cheese– I thought this was good/ok– it was missing a sauce or butter to moisten it up. Corn butter and blueberry– this was very good. I wish their menu listed all the different toppings and butters so you could create your own. Came mid-day on a weekend and there was about a 20 minute wait which was annoying but the service was super friendly.

Empire Biscuit has been a great addition to the East Village since it opened. It is one of the only breakfast to go restaurants that stands a chance against the insane lines at Tompkins Bagels(and it’s open 24hrs) I have been to Empire several times, but each time I’ve tried something new. The first time I got a biscuit with peach rosemary jam and butter. Absolutely delicious– it was one of the seasonal jams. I have also tried the fried chicken sandwich with pickled green tomato. The green tomato turned this sandwich into something really memorable and worked perfectly with the homemade ranch. Surprisingly, my favorite thing on the menu is the cold brew coffee. It far surpassed my expectations, and is probably one of the top 5 best iced coffees I’ve had in NYC(I’ve had a lot.) The server explained to me that what makes this bluebottle coffee so special is that it’s brewed with chicory. BONUS: If you arrive before 11am on the weekdays, there is a coldbrew + biscuit sandwich combo for only ~$ 7!

The place is buzzing on social media so I had to try it out. Took the train from Central Park, by way of Washington DC, to do just that. It’s a small boutique style resturant that seats about 12 but has room for more standing. I ordered the sausage gravy biscuit. It was both delicious and filling.(See pic) The workers were very pleasant. I will definitely have to come back for the chicken biscuit and the jellies. It’s worth the trek! I hope this review inspires others to come on down to East Village to eat. As a tourist, someone who traveled to eat here, I was a little unpleasant to find there was no public restroom. For that reason, it was not a five star experience but all was well. A bonus is that it’s right across from Mikey’s ice cream. :)

They’re open late, so if you just need a fried chicken biscuit, they’re an option. The people working here were nice, so that’s a plus. The chicken biscuit I had wasn’t great though. The best part is the biscuit, which is both a testament to how fluffy and butter it was, as well as how lackluster the rest of the sandwich was. Not enough chicken, not enough flavor, even with the ranch and pickled green tomatoes. In the grand scheme of late night Alphabet City eats, you could do much worse. But in terms of fried chicken biscuits in NYC, you could definitely do better. They also don’t have a customer bathroom, but will let you use their kitchen wash sink, so… I guess that’s a thing.

I’m obsessed about PB&J, so I only tried the Lunch Box so far. Not bad at all. The biscuit was a little dry, but it was slathered with the grape jam and peanut butter. Very sweet, maybe a little overly sweet. If you like sweet and old school, this is the biscuit for you. You might need a fork to eat this sandwich or at least a lot of napkins. I’ll need to come back to try their savory ones. While you’re here, hop over to Mikey Likes It Ice Cream right next door, especially if they have the Room 112 flavor which features Empire Biscuit’s biscuits in peach ice cream.

So the food was fine, but the staff is rude and beyond slow, and unoragnized. There was no line when we ordered yet we waited over 20 min for our biscuits and iced coffee. They forgot to give us ice coffee, and we had to argue with the staff to get what we order. One of my friends ordered a buiscuit with bacon, and a biscuit with butter… nothing else and she was the last person to recieve her food, plus multiple people who ordered after us got food before her. We obviously said something but then when they gave us her food they didnf even apologize for the 30 min wait for a buttered biscuit. The prices are too high for the long waits and rude staff. The food and service is better at bob whites, sweet chick, and the egg shop. Try those over this place.

Normally when I ask for a biscuit here in Europe I am handed a nasty, stale cookie. So when I discovered this place exist in the East Village, naturally I have to check it out just for the sake of eating what I consider to be a real American biscuit. Oh– and they had wifi and I was without a SIM card this trip. I wandered inside at around 6am after my bus got in from Pittsburgh. I was starving and stoked to see that this place was open 24 hours(ok, I have clearly been in Euroland for too long as any place with opening hours longer than 12 hours excites me). The staff was SO freaking nice here. The interior was very cool and clean, as well. You could tell that this place gets a fair share of business from late night drunken customers as they seemed to just be catching their breath when I walked in. I ordered the Pulled Pork with Cole Slaw & pickled jalapeños biscuit which was $ 8 and worth every penny. It was sour, sweet, and spicy in a perfect balance and definitely hit the spot for my hungry stomach in the early morning. It prepared me for an entire day(which I fully intended to spend eating) in the city as well as for lots and lots of day-drinking. I also enjoyed sitting by the window and watching everyone giving their dogs early morning walks. Empire may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But for a southern girl in the city who has spent 4 years living in Europe eating stale nastiness when I ask for a biscuit– it was surely mine.

This place is a little slice of heaven for biscuit lovers. It’s usually packed on weekends, and one can only hope the 24 hour nature of this place will return now that the thaw has come! Everything’s great, but the plain ol’ biscuit with honey butter is the winner if you ask me. Not much seating, so be prepared to go the«to go» route. But it’s worth it!

After drinking across the street at Destination Bar a biscuit and egg sandwich with a side of grits hit the spot at midnight! That buttery biscuit helps soak up the booze swishing aroung my belly, the protein from the egg keeps my brain from being too woozy, and those grits give me some energy to find my drunk ass home. It’s a small spot with just enough counter type seating to squeeze in and devour my egg sandwich before heading home, or to grab a quick bite before bar hopping in the area. Pricing is ok, as were the staff working here, along with the tunes being played. Clean and attractive with being open 24 hours a day every day makes it a decent option if you have a craving for a breakfast sandwich at any hour. Small menu with about ten sandwiches to choose from, along wth a mix of jam, chicken, pork, and one veggie option. Not the best egg sandwich I have ever had but also not the worst. Worth a try if in the area and the drunk munchies are calling your name.

Bien Cuit? Burned? I got up to check the menu again, and confirm whether the fault was with my eyesight as opposed to that of the kitchen. But, no: the menu described the biscuit sandwich as I thought I had read it: Tea & Tarragon brined Fried Chicken(with Pickled Green Tomato and House Ranch). So, it did say ‘brined’. Then why was I given a ‘biscuit’ sandwich that was well past ‘bien cuit’(well done) and was well and truly ‘burned’(or to be more accurate: fried for too long)? Yes, the chicken was crusty as expected, but there was no juiciness within. Even looking at the picture of the sandwich, one can tell there’s no 50 shades of grey about my assertion… nor any remaining tarragon, for that matter. On a good day, Empire Biscuit likely deserves 3 — 3.5 stars. The biscuits are compact and dense, and have got a good bite. That said, I’m not sure there’s any of the 3 requisite Fs(flaky, fluffy, flavorful) that would make them memorable. Their sturdy form supports a variety of fillings(from jam to cream or butter). Still, does anyone remember the biscuit itself? After the fried chicken fiasco, I stayed away from troubling the kitchen with any cooking, and ordered a sandwich from the«Meant For Each Other» section in the hope of bringing a better energy to our relationship. The selected«Stackhouse» with Lemon and Ricotta Butter paired with Strawberry and Cardamon(sic) Jam was very competently executed, but again, didn’t have any swoon-worthy moment. The restaurant is open 24 hours, seen as an extremely attractive proposition to people. The fact remains that I’ve yet to visit a place open 24 hours that merits a repeat visit or that one would rate the same sober as one while fortified by spirits(not sure what’s the proportion of diners in the wee hours of the morning to be categorized as ‘picky’, let alone ‘discerning’). Still: people really like biscuits, and«breakfast, lunch, dinner, drunk» is something the college going demographic, as well as those living in the post college dorms that abound in the area, would appreciate. It was thus no surprise to learn that Empire Biscuit is run by a NYU alum. I’m not thrilled to rate Empire Biscuit at the worst of my few experiences. But, they had no business serving me something that had visibly been fried for way too long(not just one whose taste was off). Intentional or not, that’s callous disregard for the customer, and if quality control gets ignored will get in the way of their ambition of being a biscuit empire.
